[Q] G Sensor not working Froyo, works in GB? - Thunderbolt General

I must first apologize if this has been covered before, but the search function has not been working for the last few hours.
I was running several of the Gingerbread based Roms and my G-Sensor was working just fine. It auto rotated as it should.
I am selling the phone so I had to get it back to stock and unroot. Now that I am back on Froyo, my G-Sensor will not work. I have autorotate checked in the display options, but no go. Browser, email, nothing will rotate. The only time I can get the browser in landscape is if I go into it's options and select landscape only.

Bump..... sorry, still stuck.

Problems with auto rotate in jf 1.5

About a month ago I dropped my phone and the screen wouldnt rotate anymore. It was stuck in the keyboard open view so I rooted it with jf 1.42 and downloaded droid sans tweak tools so I can use auto rotate and it worked. Now i recently flashed to jf 1.5 and turned on the orientation setting and now the auto rotate feature is not working! Can anyone help me with this??
by defaul in jf 1.5 the autorotation is not enabled, you have to go settings, sound and display and the check Orientation...check if it work for u.
Auto rotate will only work when an app is open in JF 1.5. If kind of bugged me at first too. But i like it better now.
i checked orientation and it still does not work, even when im in an app
same here
I have the exact same problem, no solution just wish sansdriod still worked.
A stupid question, others are not having this problem (myself included) so it is not a problem with the build, but have you tried a wipe of the device, and if that doesn't work after the wipe reload the JF1.5 (re-flash it).
Just something to try, because you should be able to get it to work.
Could be you rattled something loose inside the device, too, and the accelerometer bounced around a little too harshly when you dropped it...
Suggestions have pretty much been covered. If all of them fail, I would suspect hardware damage.

New and with a problem already...I think.

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I left the Blackberry (Bold 9900) world and jumped on board here. So far I LOVE my Mytouch 4g Slide!
I could have sworn that my "home" screen and "all apps" screen would rotate when I turned it sideways without having to slide my phone open. Now it doesn't. I first noticed it when I opened up my Netflix app. I turned the phone sideways to search for a movie and the screen would not rotate. It only rotated when the movie played.
Do your phones rotate on the home screen/all apps screen without sliding it open?
Please help, it's bugging the heck out of me.
Thanks
Whoops I thanked you lol.
Some apps allow landscape mode, and some don't.
In addition, auto rotate allows your sensor to make the screen turn when it's on its side. Check the settings. (Settings > Display, I think). Hope this helps.
mine actually rotates when the keyboard is closed and doesn't when the keyboard is open, which is quite logical and the correct behaviour i think
Does your MT4GS do this too???

That's strange. I wonder why that is. So yours rotates the home screen and "all apps" screen when turned sideways?
I am sure that my auto-rotate feature works because when I open certain apps, say, the Gallery where I have all my pictures stored, I can turn it sideways to the left or right and it will rotate accordingly.
It is only when I try to rotate the Home screen and All Apps screen that I could have sworn would rotate too.
Any help on getting this back the way it should would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I checked my Auto Rotate settings and they've always been on. I unchecked it and then rebooted and then checked it again and it still didn't work. Not sure why.
Nope, if you're on the stock ROM (As far as I remember, considering I haven't been on stock since the first ROM came out and I've refused to use the stock launcher anyways) orientation won't change on the "Home" screen unless you slide the keyboard open. Correct me if I'm wrong. Personally, I turn rotation off because it sometimes gets annoying. You could always try a different launcher though, I'm pretty sure ADW and Go Launcher rotate on any keyboard condition.
The app Orientation Control works well if you want your display to stay in a particular orientation all the time. Costs a buck or two in the market, and the main thing it messes up is the camera when you want to take a picture, but you can always switch it back to 'auto rotate' in those cases.

Yeah, I'm on stock ROM. I like the rotation feature for now, and was just wondering why it would work on some screens and not on others. I thought that was a default feature.
At least I know I'm not losing my mind. I really did believe it used to rotate the Home screen and All Apps screen without sliding it open.
I guess one thing I can try is going into a T-Mobile store and testing out their phone there to see if it rotates.
Thanks everyone!

Never did for me in the stock Sense launcher on the app drawer or home screens, unless sliding out the keyboard. I made a reference to that in the tv-out thread back when I first got the phone in august.
It works everywhere else, and you could just use another launcher to have it happen on those two screens.
I'd like to enable that functionality in Rosie - i'm not sure why it's like that and it's puzzled me for months.
I dunno, personally, I turn off auto rotation all the time. If I want to view anything in landscape, I just slide the keyboard open. Just my preference, though.
I really like a free app called auto rotate switch. It gives you a button in the status bar that you can click to turn on and off auto rotation. I've used it since my first android phone, but have never used it with this one.

[Q] AOKP JB MR1 B6 auto-rotation problem :(

Hi all,
I searched for this problem but I never found anyone having it (even google doesn't know the answer).
People have problem with auto-rotation now working but I have another issue.
I installed AOKP MAKO JB MR1 B6 ROM on my nexus 4, and everything works fine but one thing.
When I run some apps, screen is rotated 270 degrees and it cannot be turned anywhere else.
Some apps on the other hand, give me rights to click the buttons that are showed on the screen, and some don't.
On some apps, screen is rotated and squeezed, probably because it wants to show whole screen but its rotated and there is no room (when this happenes i cant click buttons).
Have to mention that i tried everything with auto-rotation options in settings, aswell as with settings in ROM options.
Tried to disable autorotate, to disable 180 degree rotation (ROM), to disable 270 degree rotation (ROM), nothing helped.
One more thing, i wanted to post this into Nexus 4 development section but i don't have the rights to post there since this is my first post.
I would insert some screenshots but i am not able to.
Best regards,

Screen rotation problems.

Hi everybody I am a Skyrocket user. Some days ago I flashed stock android 2.3.5 on my phone via Odin, just to check some performance and old apps. A day later I flashed back JellyBean 4.1.2 stock but I noticed this problem. When I flip my phone to landscape, it rotates quickly and smooth like it always did. But when I flip back to portrait, it stucks in landscape for some seconds before rotating. This is a problem it doesn't always do, sometimes it rotates immediately like it should. I turn auto rotation off as I don't always need it but some apps like camera and youtube still autorotate. I thought it might be a problem with calibration but it didn't help. I'm on stock JellyBean, no rooted.
(If it helps: I was rooted after flashing the firmware and removed some system apps but only AT&T apps like code scanner, mog music etc, and I later unrooted the phone. Tried factory reset also re-flashed the firmware again to see if it might help with the problem but it didn't.)

If you tried odin back to stock, and the problem is still there on complete stock then it's probably time for a new phone unfortunately.
a few tips:
1. make sure you check the MD5 to make sure those files downloaded ok and aren't corrupt.
2. make sure you cable is good & you're using a USB port on the back of your PC
3. Ebay phones. even sold as new might not be new even though they look new. Could be just brand new replacement parts and new packaging, etc.
4. Check Vincom's troubleshooting thread! read the stickies! if you haven't, maybe something you overlooked as well.
screen rotation problem solve easily this trick working on all phones.
Use Spirit level pro software to calibrate your phone. sceen rotation problem is horizontal calibration fault, you solve screen rotation problem eaisly to use this software. Download from play store and download from attachment. Try this..

Hi kristikoroveshi is your issue solved if not pm me i faced same issue

Problem: Display rotation don´t work

Hello,
i have issues with the Display Rotation.
The Accelerometer don´t work anymore at my phone. Last Week i was wondering that the Display won´t rotate at the Album. Then i checked the Display Settings. Auto Rotate was checked.
at the Service Menu *#*#7378423#*#* the Accelerometer don´t respond. But the Gyroscope work fine.
At this Time i have installed the Concept Software from Sony. Today i´m back home from Holiday i go back to offical Stock Software. But it won´t work also.
Smartrotate on or off are the same...
The last idea is to repair the Software with the PC Companion. Is there an option to calibrate the Accelerometer?
I have the same issues with my D6653 - auto rotation doesn't work (but very rarely it does come back). In service menu the Accelerometer doesn't respond, as well as Proximity switch is off and doesn't work on calls.
This is not a rom-specific problem as I've tried to revert back to stock firmware but alas no changes. It must be some miscommunication between hardware and software.
Any ideas what to do? Can it be related to kernel?
yesterday i've had the same problem i needed to wipe to have the accelerometer back to work
Hi all rather than opening a new thread I am upping this one
On my D6603 screen rotation is very erratic and often not working.
Any idea what I can investigate?
I wander if it could be app/service related of hardware deficiency.
Thanks!
Any luck with this?
I am currently using an EM95X Android Box with a Viewsonic touch screen. The touch screen has been working perfect with the box. My issue is with the rotation ability. Anytime I force the screen into portrait mode the system UI crashes. Unfortunately, I need the monitor view to be vertical. I cannot figure out how to stop it from crashing. I have tried several rotation apps with the same results.
I have went into the build prop to view the rotation texts and the only thing I have found is this:
"Persist.sys.app.rotation=middle_port"
I thought I might be able to find somewhere I can change the rotation, but I have not.
Any suggestions?
