Problem: Display rotation don´t work - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
i have issues with the Display Rotation.
The Accelerometer don´t work anymore at my phone. Last Week i was wondering that the Display won´t rotate at the Album. Then i checked the Display Settings. Auto Rotate was checked.
at the Service Menu *#*#7378423#*#* the Accelerometer don´t respond. But the Gyroscope work fine.
At this Time i have installed the Concept Software from Sony. Today i´m back home from Holiday i go back to offical Stock Software. But it won´t work also.
Smartrotate on or off are the same...
The last idea is to repair the Software with the PC Companion. Is there an option to calibrate the Accelerometer?

I have the same issues with my D6653 - auto rotation doesn't work (but very rarely it does come back). In service menu the Accelerometer doesn't respond, as well as Proximity switch is off and doesn't work on calls.
This is not a rom-specific problem as I've tried to revert back to stock firmware but alas no changes. It must be some miscommunication between hardware and software.
Any ideas what to do? Can it be related to kernel?

yesterday i've had the same problem i needed to wipe to have the accelerometer back to work

Hi all rather than opening a new thread I am upping this one
On my D6603 screen rotation is very erratic and often not working.
Any idea what I can investigate?
I wander if it could be app/service related of hardware deficiency.
Thanks!

Any luck with this?

I am currently using an EM95X Android Box with a Viewsonic touch screen. The touch screen has been working perfect with the box. My issue is with the rotation ability. Anytime I force the screen into portrait mode the system UI crashes. Unfortunately, I need the monitor view to be vertical. I cannot figure out how to stop it from crashing. I have tried several rotation apps with the same results.
I have went into the build prop to view the rotation texts and the only thing I have found is this:
"Persist.sys.app.rotation=middle_port"
I thought I might be able to find somewhere I can change the rotation, but I have not.
Any suggestions?

G-Sensor Bugged?

Hi, first time poster! Anyways I recently acquired the HTC Fuze which is my first Windows mobile phone and everyhting semmed to by working fine until today. Now whenever I enter any games, the camera, or any program that requires the G-sensor it always assumes I am in landscape mode and I am unable to move to portrait mode even when the phone is fully up right.
The sensor still seems to work, but only in landscape mode. I have applied several tweaks and added several applications, but none that were anything major and none that have to do with the G-sensor (at least I think). I have also tried calibrating it several times and the every seems to work right it just won't leave landscae mode. Anyways, is there any way I can fix this without a hard reset (trying to avoid)? Also my phone is still under the ATT 30 day return policy so should I just return it and get a new one?
Thanks to anyone that can help!
does the calibration tool give any feedback?
are you sure your taking the pictures rightside up w/ the camera?
some games require u to flip out the keyboard for landscape or portriate mode, have u tried toggling the keyboard?
Yes, the calibration tool seems to work fine.
Also about the keyboard, yes I have tried that and it seems to work for some applications, but some applications stay in one mode regardless of whether I have it flipped up, down, right, left, or with the keyboard out.
Okay. it now works again, but the when I want to take a picture it is in landscape mode still. I can take a picture in portrait mode, but all the photo adjustment modes (when you tap the screen) are still in landscape, but I think I might know what caused that. I made of few adjustments to the registry to get some more camera modes and i think that might have caused it. Also, why do American cellphone carriers have to stifle innovation by removing the front camera?
Thanks for your advice Orbitrix.
G-sensor only works sometimes
Usually, the G-sensor does not rotate the phone when it is supposed to in various apps-like photos. I have tried adjusting the timing in Advanced Config and using the calibration tool. Sometimes it works perfectly, but usually, nothing happens. This is VERY frustrating!!!
Anyone have any other fixes?
Rom version: 1.90.707.4 WWE
Rom date: 8/23/08
Radio version: 1.02.25.19
Protocol version: 52.33.25.17U
Some progress??
I just noticed, that if I open the Pictures/Video program, so it brings up the screen of thumbnails, then open a photo from there, the G-Sensor doesn't work when I tilt the TP. However, if I scroll through the photos in the TF3D interface, then select a photo from there, the tilt works very quickly. (I reset interval to 75).

[Q] [HELP] Xperia Z3 Auto Rotate Problem

Hi all,
I know some of you faced similar problems with other phones in the past but I just wanna know if it is a software bug or an actual hardware issue so that I can return my handset and get it fixed.
Auto Rotate kinda acts strangely. Doesn't even respond properly and the orientation remains locked. I tried using different launchers hoping it would fix the issue somehow. Nothing seems to work and the strange thing is, while facing this issue, I opened CPU Z to check if the sensors are working properly or not but to my surprise, the sensors are not reading any data. After a restart, all seems to work fine including rotation. But again after a few hours, the same issue occurs. Any fix guys??

Is your smart rotate on? Switch it off to get normal rotation
I suppose factory reset is a last resort. If you still have issues exchange.
Same problem. Z3 autorotate stupidly (does not switch to landscape automatically and then when I want it back to portrait it remains landscape, have to disable rotation). By the way Smart Rotate feature is bugged.
@unmaskedfalesh yes....its turned on. Yet it doesnt work most of the times.
@bel57 yep dude...same problem here....
@abhinav.tella yes I will do that. thank you

I'm not sure if your"..." And statement were meant to be condescending but it came off that way. This suggestion was already made and it didn't help me, don't know about the others.

Auto Rotate Screen Issue (Android 7.0 Nougat)

Hi!, I have a little problem with my device, sometimes 1 of 15 times aprox, when I unlock my device, this don't rotate the screen properly, but, if I lock and unlock, the function return to work perfectly.
Also, If I force to rotate with YouTube or Disable/Enable the function, return to work perfectly.
I tried with the Debug Menu for the test of Accelerometer and Gyroscope but, apparently, is all ok, inclusive when the Auto Rotation was glitched.
Somebody with the same issue after the Nougat Update?
I'm using N for 8 days and i saw this issue only one time.
I was getting some rotate issues when it was on MM. Basically will not rotate until I go toggle rotate on and off. Happens once in awhile, cannot pinpoint when it happens.

How do I fix my screen rotation?

I just purchased my Samsung galaxy S7 yesterday and the screen rotation worked fine until today, the screen rotation did not work at all so I started looking for a way to fix it(factory reset, restart, making sure I had auto rotation activated, tried scanning the gyroscope sensor but it failed) without having to make my own post but here we are, what do you think I can do to fix this?
As its a day old I would return the phone to the store. you've done more than I would have if it's that new.
Looks like a hardware issue, since it exists even after a restart.
do check your rotation setting

Auto Rotation Way Too Sensitive

Hi, anyone know how to make this auto rotation not so sensitive? I noticed that if you tilt it only for a second it would rotate... Or is there any setting that can be tweak say if tilt over 2 seconds then only the screen will rotate.... Thanks...
Completely agree with this. Most sensitive I've noticed on a phone probably ever. To the point where if I put it down on my desk or go to pick it up, the screen would rotate. Ended up having to turn off auto rotate.
Would love to find a way to reduce the sensitivity.
3rd party apps would solve that but don't want to install another apps just for the auto rotation.. I ve tried calibrate the gyroscope still the same...
Same here.
The orientation is too sensitive, but also buggy, plus when it goes to landscape uunwantedingly, it sometimes crashes google search when trying to scroll through the results.
