About a month ago I dropped my phone and the screen wouldnt rotate anymore. It was stuck in the keyboard open view so I rooted it with jf 1.42 and downloaded droid sans tweak tools so I can use auto rotate and it worked. Now i recently flashed to jf 1.5 and turned on the orientation setting and now the auto rotate feature is not working! Can anyone help me with this??
by defaul in jf 1.5 the autorotation is not enabled, you have to go settings, sound and display and the check Orientation...check if it work for u.
Auto rotate will only work when an app is open in JF 1.5. If kind of bugged me at first too. But i like it better now.
i checked orientation and it still does not work, even when im in an app
same here
I have the exact same problem, no solution just wish sansdriod still worked.
A stupid question, others are not having this problem (myself included) so it is not a problem with the build, but have you tried a wipe of the device, and if that doesn't work after the wipe reload the JF1.5 (re-flash it).
Just something to try, because you should be able to get it to work.
Could be you rattled something loose inside the device, too, and the accelerometer bounced around a little too harshly when you dropped it...
Suggestions have pretty much been covered. If all of them fail, I would suspect hardware damage.

Hallo guys,
After playing around one week without any troubles I realized now that the g-sensor doesn´t work any more. The only thing I did today was to install schap’s advanced config and the remote tracker-software and after some time I recognized that my phone gets little bit warm. I wanted to deny a call by turning the phone around but nothing happens. I tried the g-senor application to calibrate, but also here the bubbles don´t move. Also the hard-reset doesn´t help anything.
Any ideas or suggestions for me, I hope I don´t have to return the phone to repair. And another question: Is the phone after a hard-reset really in the point of origin ??
thanks
juwenio
hi mate,
probably in the schaps advanced config, you have disabled the mute function, try to search through for that function in the schaps advanced config and see what it's on now
Also if advanced config doesnt remedy it do a hard reset, most likely a software thing rather than a broken accelerometer.

thanks guys for your help, but i have already restored all settings from advanced config, removed the program and netcf 3.5. and also did 2 hardresets..the problem is still alive
Thats bad luck man.
I'd put it back to the original settings and get it repaired that should be covered in the warranty...
Im guessing its most definatly a manufacurer defect since its pretty difficult to kill an accelerometer, the device would be dead elsewhere before the G sensor if it is something like a drop or an impact.
hallo friends,
wanted to tell you, that my problem has gone... some hours after my last post i tried the g-sensor once and once more and although i didn´t change anything with the phone suddenly g-sensor reacts again... it´s really curious but in the fact till now it doesn´t came back
so, thanks for your help and have a good day

My Raphael is having the same trouble. I noticed the G-sensor not working when I tried to play Teeter. Calibration doesn't work And also other software using the G-sensor is not functioning. In Teeter the ball gets stuck in one corner and won't move. In calibration (under settings) the green indicators move and the text Calibrating" appears. After calibration the green indicator move to the uppermost and rightmost corner of the vertical resp. horizontal indicator. Running ROMeos 1.22 Dutch version with 1.02.25.19 radio.
Already tried a hard reset. Didn't do the trick. Any ideas?
I have had a similar problem wherein the G-Sensor was not working. I tried restoring the registry back to the state prior to the G-Sensor got busted but nothing seemed to work. I logged the problem with HTC Customer support. In addition to other regular things they asked me the S/N of my device. To check out the S/N of the device I had to remove the battery. It was out for a few minutes and when I put it back I thought of re-running the G-Sensor and surprisingly enough it has been working since then .
I don't know how long it would continue to work but i tried running the G-Sensor for 5-7 times and it worked. I hope it works with you as well.
Just to let you know, I even tried hard-rest twice in the past but it didn't work.
Thanx for the reply.
I'll try this and post the results here.
Not working
Tried everything.
had my hopes set on software. Seems to be a hardware problem
Going to restore ROM to original and hand it in for repair.
G-sensor fixed
Finally I returned the Touch pro with stock ROM for repair (just before warranty expired)
Pick up service at the office, and within one week the phone was send back, repaired.
Kudo's for HTC service.
Hi,
I have a very strange problem... I have a german MDA Vario IV (Raphael) and I recently flashed ROMEOS 1.12, then HTC StockROM and after a couple of days it first happened, that my camera viewfinder is completely black. The camera, however, works, i.e. it takes pictures which I can view in the album.
When I tap the screen in camera mode, I see the 3 symbols, but when I tap the preferences-wheel, nothing happens.
When Romeos 1.40 (German) came out, I flashed it - and I still have the problem. I don't quite understand it, as it worked first with the HTC Rom and after about 14days it stopped working.
Do you have any help?
I just had the same problem. Fixed by doing a hard reset...
did you flash a new radio?
I just registered to report this same issue.
I just picked up my fuze today, and was going through the steps in the noob guide before I decided to stop and just let the phone install the regular software so I could at least activate it before a new bill kicked in before the account got cancelled.
Right before I stopped going through the noob guide, I got as far as doing a soft reset right before the installing ATT bloatware and was removing some options in the guide and restarting. Then, since I just wanted to activate the phone (I had no SD card to safely try out all the steps in the noob guide, and wanted to wait for it), I did a hard reset.
After I activated my phone, I've been trying out my camera and it just shows a black screen. If I touch the screen the three buttons show up and clicking on the buttons don't do anything. Though, if I hold the enter key it clicks and takes a picture which shows up in my album.
I'm going to wait till my SD card comes in before I do another hard reset to do the install again. Hopefully the hard reset fixes the issue.
Still no one else with this issue? I have flashed NATF 4.5 as well as energy 2.0 . I have changed to two different radios and this problem has persisted. Everything works fine at first, but then within a couple of days it goes black. Everything is exactly as others have reported. Pictures take, the touch screen menus work ( selecting any setting ).... its just the viewfinder that is acting goofy. Soft resetting it will occasionally make it work again. It makes me feel as though some of us have some software somewhere that isnt acting as it should. I googled the issue to no avail.
Any gurus able to shed some light on this matter?
Currently running:
HardSpl 1.9
EnergyRom 2.0
Radio 1.02.25.32
I am running Shep's 3.0 rom with the new 1.12.25.19 radio and I have just recently had this viewfinder problem arise as well. I am about to flash Shep's new 3F and will check the camera after hard reset.
Is anyone running additional programs when this arises? I had thought there was a conflict with freecaddie as I was on the golf course when I noticed the problem but maybe this is more widespread?

Of the programs you listed, Skyfire is the only one I am also running. I just completed my flash and turned the camera on prior to installing any apps, cabs, etc... and the viewfinder worked fine.
I am in the process of adding my customizations back on, doing a PIM restore, and installing cabs and will edit my post later to report whether it continues to function correctly.
After setting things up the way I like them and a full day of use, the viewfinder still works fine. I am baffled as to the cause but as long as its works I won't complain.
To those still having the problem, I would recommend a hard reset at a minimum or perhaps try a new rom.

This was an issue with RRE's roms a while back. Not sure what he did to fix it but I know he tweaked a flashed new versions about 100 times in one day! I would post the question in your respective rom's threads and see if the cooks have a better idea. I would bet that there is a file or setting common to all of the roms listed here that is causing the problem.
Im running the stock rom in a 1 1/2 month old Fuze
The Black screen happens to me, if too much sunlight gets thru on superfine settings. (i hold it facing directly into the sun) It seems to blow out the picture (goes all white) -then theres no display at all (black) unless i exit camera and restart.
Camera viewfinder is black
Hi,
there is a fix for this on the htc asia site, if you go to the support tab and look at the downloads for touchpro, I am not sure its for all phone as it asked for my serial number and told me it was not for my phone, on this site at least it seemed to be for hong kong, singapore & china, Perhaps check the htc site for your location.
Good Luck

I switched roms to cog 4 and I didnt notice anything weird and then a few hours later I noticed that my auto rotate was not working. when I say not working I mean relly not working, when I open any app it will only open in landscape mode and the home screen is only viewable in portrait mode.
I have flashed back to stock, done a master clear, reflashed cog 4. I am at a loss now. Any help would really be appreciated.
I don't know if it will work for you, but......go to settings; display; scroll down to horizontal calibration and lay your phone on its back....follow directions.....and hopefully all is better.
I definitely was overthinking the problem and getting NO help from those in the know. I UTFSE (nice acronym) for hours and assumed that one of the ROMs had an I9000 kernel and corrupted the accelerometer.
I was probably too tired from nicely suggested (UsingTheF......SearchEngine) and assumed horizontal was from Upright Y axis, X side axis, but not Z (face up).
My own fault and probably one of the reasons no one chose to answer my requests.
Holy hell I must have tried this 5 times before I wiped and then loaded a new rom. everytime I did it it would callibrate it was just stuck dead in the center. I did it now and it worked.
Thank you for getting me to retry the simple things (now I seem like a moron, but I swear I really did try it haha)
Hello,
i have issues with the Display Rotation.
The Accelerometer don´t work anymore at my phone. Last Week i was wondering that the Display won´t rotate at the Album. Then i checked the Display Settings. Auto Rotate was checked.
at the Service Menu *#*#7378423#*#* the Accelerometer don´t respond. But the Gyroscope work fine.
At this Time i have installed the Concept Software from Sony. Today i´m back home from Holiday i go back to offical Stock Software. But it won´t work also.
Smartrotate on or off are the same...
The last idea is to repair the Software with the PC Companion. Is there an option to calibrate the Accelerometer?
I have the same issues with my D6653 - auto rotation doesn't work (but very rarely it does come back). In service menu the Accelerometer doesn't respond, as well as Proximity switch is off and doesn't work on calls.
This is not a rom-specific problem as I've tried to revert back to stock firmware but alas no changes. It must be some miscommunication between hardware and software.
Any ideas what to do? Can it be related to kernel?
yesterday i've had the same problem i needed to wipe to have the accelerometer back to work
Hi all rather than opening a new thread I am upping this one
On my D6603 screen rotation is very erratic and often not working.
Any idea what I can investigate?
I wander if it could be app/service related of hardware deficiency.
Thanks!
Any luck with this?
I am currently using an EM95X Android Box with a Viewsonic touch screen. The touch screen has been working perfect with the box. My issue is with the rotation ability. Anytime I force the screen into portrait mode the system UI crashes. Unfortunately, I need the monitor view to be vertical. I cannot figure out how to stop it from crashing. I have tried several rotation apps with the same results.
I have went into the build prop to view the rotation texts and the only thing I have found is this:
"Persist.sys.app.rotation=middle_port"
I thought I might be able to find somewhere I can change the rotation, but I have not.
Any suggestions?
Hi guys wonder if u can help me please. There might already be a topic regarding this. But I can't seem to get auto rotate working. Wonder if u guys can tell me why please.
Did you try toggling the auto-rotate icon in QuickSettings?
Yes i have done that. I've G Calibrated and done a factory reset. Still the same. Worked fine till the other day.
Just to update. I've managed to sort the issue by tapping the phone twice on my hand.and now it rotates again weird but it works. Read it on a site and tried it and it works don't no why
Hmmm . . . sounds like a hardware issue. Reminds me of the sporadic vibration on my M9 that could be "reset" by banging the phone, at least until it died completely.
I accidentally dropped my phone, 3 days after having it, and it stopped auto rotating, also the double tap to wake stopped as well. Noticed in camera the icons wouldn't rotate. I did the old 6inch drop onto its corner on carpet and it recalibrated the sensor and it worked again.
