Are you using a Class 2 microSD, by chance?

Yes I am

I had an issue last week like this, actually. I was outside and every time I went to take a picture the phone just went black, and I had to do a full power-up. I noticed that when I shut the flash off, it worked fine. But then later, with the flash on, it took pictures okay.
So not sure what the problem was as it was not consistent but yet, I have had this issue.

thats odd i never had that happen , using class 2 16gb from HD2.

I had this issue on my phone all I did to fix it tapping the restore defulte setting on the camera app

Autofocus

The autofocus on the sensation is not working for close items you want to photograph.
An example:

Anyone other experiencing this?
Did you use the close up mode?? Mine focuses just fine..

I've had the opposite problem (tried to take a video of some paragliders), close ups are really sharp though. The automatic settings are a little bit unpredictable, might need to set the mode next time.

That makes it even worse. I called HTC and they suspected a firmware issue.
Im running 1.28.401.1
Yeah, I've had some issues with autofocus with close-ups, with the camera set to macro mode. When you tap on the object to focus it will go through its range of focal lengths and miss the subject. The only remedy to this is to move the phone further away. So it seems that the phone's lens/es are more capable of macro shots than the focussing system currently allows.
I called HTC and they said it might be software related and will probably fix this in next update. Let's hope so!
Having the same issue. It manages to focus fine but locks focus at the wrong moment. Glad to hear they'll fix this.
I definately not. Close up works better for me the autofocus does take a little patience but is worth it after its taken. It blows the g2x cam out of the water that's for sure!!

dude get a can of compressed air & clean out your PC. it'll thank you for the cleaning
I've got a similar problem, it appeared like 2 weeks ago, I cannot focus up close objects I've tried everything, it's as if the focus is stuck on something and never changes no matter what I do. I have changed the mode (close up or macro) different light and so on .. but I can never get a focus It doesn't even attempt to focus. It used to work before when I played around with the setting if I would switch on/off some of the things the camera would magically "wake up" and start focusing, any Idea ?
It's one of the things that HTC broke in the 2.3.4 update. Macro mode worked great before that (i used to use it for bulk barcode scanning, but that is impossible now).

Lockscreen Issue [Nothing to do with the ring]

Its happened to me twice now, the lockscreen froze half way up the screen with the bottom half black(Weather lockscreen) and it still works when you swipe up from the bottom half, but the only way to fix it is to reboot. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so sorry if its already been posted.

Happened to me this morning

An HTC Champion recognized this as a bug and told me it will be fixed in our first update (for the T-Mobile Sensation 4G)
so what lockscreen is everyone using when this happens? Weather, picture album, etc...Also, are you using the sense launcher or something else? I've had my phone for almost 2 weeks now and I am praying that this doesn't happen to me
It happened to me once also. Weather lockscreen.
I dont have that problem only sometimes when i unlocked my screen it wasn't good response but fixed it after some screen switches

This has happened to me more than once and I almost never have my phone in Landscape mode... Maybe it has to do with the G sensor detecting it being horizontal though?
It's happened to me only once. I use the weather lock screen. I had to reboot to fix it.

This has happened to my phone about 3-4 times. The only way I can fix it is to take my sensation out of it's body glove protector (kind of a pain) and then pull the battery and turn the phone back on. I can't shut down or reboot the screen no matter how long I hold the power button. I love my phone but this is getting on my nerves. It does it at the worst times.

Camera Broken?

My camera seems to have wigged out,Tonight I opened the camera app to take a photo and out of nowhere these green lines appeared and they are there while in the app and also appear on the photo.Just letting you all know in case this happens to anyone else.I would like to hear back if this has happened to anyone as I haven't heard of this being an issue and would like to know how rare it is.Thanks

Did you try to reboot your phone not using fast boot ?(you can turn it off by going to settings>power then uncheck the fast boot option)
If that doesn't work try a hard reset This erases all data so be careful and backup.
1. Take out battery.
2. Put it back in.
3. Hold volume down button down.
4. While holding volume down hold down power.
5. You should get a menu with some options, select clear storage(use the volume keys to move up and down, press and release power to select it)
6. When it asks you to confirm press Volume up for yes.
7. Check to see if it works correctly without any apps installed if it does install your apps and then make sure it's still working correctly. If it's still not working send it to HTC.

I have tried this once. A reboot (not shutdown and startup) did it for me. And I haven't experienced it since. I think it perhaps had something to do with the installation of Skype, but I'm not sure. Now I just hope it doesn't happen again.

Okay I pulled the battery again and all is fine.Has to be a software glitch

It's the Matrix, NEO........
When you get the green line issue: Contact HTC Support.
My thread about this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127658
Likely to blame for the raw software. Do not worry, more than sure the camera is not physically damaged, reset or backup must help to solve it.
Just wanting to throw another possibility into this - although unlikely - it could actually be a hardware issue.
I have a Digital SLR Camera - and when I've not used it for a while, or, seemingly, when it's a little colder than ambient, that is the exact same effect that I get, until I've run a fair few shots - this seems to clear the build-up of static / moisture / coldness / whatever it is on the CCD Sensor, and it comes back to life.
As I say - it's just a thought - and the CCD on my camera is quite a lot larger than the one in my phone (!), but interesting none-the-less.
I had this too, just sent it back for replacement. There's another topic about this, apparently something to do with EMC protection.

Hi, I got a problem with my main camera, has dosn't work after I change my old broken lcd a new. I changed roms, kernel, roms with ruu, it did not work. Front camera works. In z-device test main camera got a red cross, and in screen option has got problem "test not done" on:
touchscreen detected, touchscreen accuracy, pressure, orientation, size, tool major axis, tool minor axis, touch major axis, tool minor axis.
Maybe problem is the not original LCD?

Lines on screen & flickering when taking pix and videos?

I was trying to video something today and it would just reset to the home screen after a few seconds of recording.
Also when taking pictures, it would have lines on the screen and sometimes freeze the image (distorted) on the screen.
I do notice three dead pixels as well on the screen...
Anyone experiencing anything similar?

Mine is doing this same thing. Pink and or green lines on the camera screen?
It must be defective an unit my work perfectly fine.
Mine just started to do this, i had it for like 2 months.
Its not defective. You have to close every service that has to do with the camera, and clear the data/cache of those services. Also close htc sense. Its in the settings somewhere in your phone, u can fix this yourself

i'm thinking it's software because the guy at the TMO store fixed it for me within a couple minutes, he said the same thing happened to his friend and he hooked me up. u just have to clear data/cache of htc sense as well as any of the apps that have to do with the camera.

IT happens on my senseless ROM. I'm leaning toward hardware
Sent from my Senseless Doubleshot using xda premium
The green and pink lines happened to me once, when I was 100% stock, so it's definitely not anything to do with roms..
Happened to me once. Rebooting the phone solved the problem.
Just another data point for reference. I've seen this on my CM7 ROM once, but a reboot solved it.
hardware failure or software problem?
I need to pull the battery off and reboot to solve the problem @@

Phone shuts off when taking pictures with flash.

This has been an issue for a long while but its frequency seems to have increased now. Basically it happens randomly and only if picture is taken with flash. I have experienced it on both stock jelly bean ROM and cm10. I don't remember it being an issue on ICS or GB. My phone is not over clocked and the issue does not seem to be affected by kernel.
My gf also has a nexus S and same thing happens with her. We both have the i9023. Her phone is completely stock and not rooted.
This problem is also not limited to the stock camera app as I have experienced it with camera zoom fx as well.
Anyone else with the problem? Do you think its a potentially hardware issue with nexus S?
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
I think your problem has something to do with your batter. This is my theory because whenever you try to take a picture with flash on a faulty, or non-calibrated 3rd party batter, the phone shuts off. Try this: take out the batter, plug your phone in to AC, and take a photo with flash. Let me know what happens

What is a third party batter? I am not using any "third party" thing. :S
And this problem isnt easy to reproduce since it doesnt always happen. It just randomly happens and I can go on taking several pictures with flash without a problem. Actually what I have noticed is that it will happen on the first or second click in a session or it wont happen. If the phone shuts off and upon reboot I immediately take a pic with flash then it will shut down again but if I give it a break then it wont.
Yeah, the same thing here. Must be a 4.2.1 issue. Happened to me on 2 different roms. I never take that many photos, but happened a week or so and didn't think about it. But today needed the flash for Christmas pictures and every time I used the flash the phone shut off and I had to power back up. What rom are you on?

Thats not happened with me so far.
It's the cheap battery
My phone switches off when I take picture with flash but only if I'm using the cheap battery which i ordered with spare charger. Tried the cheap battery with my brother's note 4 and it happens every time. It never have or has happened with original battery. This is one of the tests for a new battery.
