Is it just me or does this screen seem more "sticky" than other phones? Sticky meaning I can't swipe my fingers smoothly, and after using the phone a while my finger actually starts to burn. It's not a smooth oily feel like previous phones I've owned. And yes I've cleaned the screen.

Same here. I recall someone posted a link to some coating you can put on the phone yourself that will improve the feel and the fingerprint smudges issue.
Sadly I forgot what it was.
Anyone has a clue what coating that is?

I thought this too. Don't mean to annoyingly compare but the iPhone's screen is a lot smoother to the touch for me. When my hands are bone dry touching the screen is super smooth but as soon as they get slightly sweaty or damp it's really difficult to slide. Made me change keyboards from swype to swiftkey.

Yeah yeah its scratch resistant, myn's got loads of scratches on it, and a big ass dint in the screen. Well not big about 2mm long and about 1mm deep. Rub toothpaste on your screen, sounds wierd, but it protects it and makes your screen smoother to your fingers
Wonder how many people will get the toothpaste out now. POST WHAT FLAVOUR WORKED FOR YOU! I actually not kidding, it works.
I took out my Mytouch last night and started playing games and noticed how smooth the screen felt. It took me a while to notice that the screen protector had come off.
I needed to replace it anyway since the top right corner was loose and dirty. Just a little story I wanted to tell. Does anyone else use a screen protector?

I used to. I would always make sure I had a screen protector before i even got the phone so I could have it on on day one. But I recently took off my sp and noticed how great and clear and responsive the screen was without it. I've been rocking it naked for almost two weeks. Not a single scratch. Basically, with all of these glass and gorilla glass screens, you don't really need an sp unless you are putting the phone in a purse with keys and change or in a pocket with other items. I always have my phone in it's own pocket and keep nothing else in it. Haven't experienced a scratch. Don't think I'll ever use an sp again.

I thought MT4G owners said this phone gets dusts under the screen and spots, so wouldnt a SP be helpful here?
Naked since I tired of it after my first week! Months without one and not a single scratch...
Ive had a screen protector on mine since day of purchase, the guy at the tmobile store put it on before turning on the phone. I did have a sp-less HD2 that was mint and never had any scratches. the screen was very smooth and a tad bit more responsive. I think when I get my replacement mytouch, itll have the naked screen
I have a screen protector and a TPU case. I have it just in case. You never know what can happen. I feel like I can be a little less carefull with the phone with the cover on the screen. For example if im working on my car and using my phone to play music I can touch the screen with my dirty fingers and not worry about dirt and grime putting a scratch on it. Just wipe it off at the end of the day and its perfectly fine.
no screen protector is just so much more awesome.

LOL never heard anyone put it quite like this in regards to a phone, but somehow it works and makes perfect sense!
I carry my phone in the T-Mobile leather sleeve so the screen is always protected and therefore I don't bother with a screen protector. My buddy doesn't use a case and therefore does use a SP, and the difference is noticeable. His screen is much less responsive, and it's more difficult to drag your finger across it.

Story from my Nexus One. I had a Zagg shield basically forever, but the case I had did a number on the edges. I was getting close to getting a new phone, so I decided to just take the protector off and go naked. I figured, in my pocket, what could happen?
Within a day I had a nice scratch at the upper edge of the screen. Non in the "display" area, so I suppose that's good, but still not great for resale. I should be happy though that I haven't had any other issues.

Some days ago I put the phone in my pocket and since I was in a hurry I forgot that my keys were inside too. After playing handball for some time I take the phone out of my pockets and notice this huge and deep scare right in the middle of the screen. I almost cried, really. But when I took the screen protector off, guess what, it was like new!
So, screen protectors dont feel as good as naked but at the end of the day you will be safe.
Naked since new, no scratches. SP's are a waste of money on most new devices with gorilla glass or scratch resistant glass.

Gorilla Glass or other high tempered scratch resistant glass can still get scratch. All you need is the right grind of sand in your pocket or right angle of impact from key, ect. SP only costs like 10dollar and high end like DQC/Crystal based is like less than $20. In the long run it pays for itself just stay out of InvisibleSHIELD BS but when you do get scratch you will beat yourself crying why didn't you spend $10. As having scratch on the screen does impact the resell value of the device.

Yes, it does get scratched. I haven't the slightest idea I got my scratch since I always have it in my holster... But the color and response difference has kept any screen protector off my phone since january. I'd rather have the vibrant colors

I know there people who removed the factory screen protector when the Triumph first came out and it helped screen responsiveness. I held off because I wanted to see if there would be any adverse side effects.
I know there have been reports that the screen is gorilla glass, but it seems odd that they would add a factory protector if it was. So those of you that removed the protector, does it seem as durable as gorilla glass? Any scratches?
I left mine on and it may have one very minor scratch in it. but I know in my mind I can always take it off and put a new one on and always have a pristine screen underneath. I have no problems with responsiveness other than the processor being busy doing something on occasion keeping the phone from responding but I have never seen a phone that doesn't do that.
I know this is only incidentally related to the topic but I kept my factory screen protector on and the only time I've ever had issues with screen responsiveness is scrolling the stock dock.
Which immediately disappears if I use a different launcher/dock like Launcher Pro or Go Launcher.
So for me the effort/risk of removing it wasn't worth it in my eyes.

I handed someone my phone to show them how awesome it was, and he was like, "Oh cool," grabs the tab of the protector, and takes it half-way off. Dirt got in there so I had to take it off. Long story short, responsiveness is still on the weak side, but could be attributed to the processor being busy as someone previously posted.

Um, unless I'm completely blind the factory protector doesn't have the pull tab, however the SHIPPING protector did... you were SUPPOSED to remove that one.
As to the factory protector, I'm leaving mine on. Only input lag I have is when I've got the phone heavily loaded down doing something which will happen on occasion, after all it's only a single core... even my Tegra 2 tablet will lag occasionally...
This is a video of removing the screen protector we're talking about.

Don't know if this is a dead horse or not but I just got through removing the cheap plastic screen protector on my and my wife's Triumph. I didn't use a razor blade like is shown on an youtube vid but I just kept working my finger nail along the edge of the glass until the protector started to come up and kept working my nail further under it until I could get a grip on it and start pulling it up. It's not that hard once you get an edge going. I think it made a big improvement on how sharp and colorful the screen is. I think it is more responsive also.

I just took mine off and now the screen looks SOOOOOOO sexy and feels so smooth.
I would hate to get scratches, but I'm going to take the risk. It's just so much better without a screen protector.
I have a few small scratches on my screen, but they are very light scratches that do not affect the look of the screen. Half the time I dont notice them unless I hold the screen so it shines in the light...
I have one cm square of scratches, stupidly put my keys in my pocket with the phone :'(
I had a screen protector for a while, but took it off because I botched the install and it had too many bubbles. I actually took it off to install another protector, but I liked it so much naked that I left it. Been that way for 3 weeks and I haven't had any scratches. Don't drop it, don't put anything next to it in your pocket, and in general be careful with it and it should be fine.
Running without and no scratches at all. Feels better without the condom.
No scratches yet.... waiting for the protector to come in the mail.... followed by a case
You should invest on one quickly because mine scratches pretty easily. And I don't even have nails. Lol.

i'm not using it , i had HD2 for 2 years and even my ruff use which made the battery cover looks crap but the screen was so clean of scratches so i don't feel i need it for the sensation , just got a good case to protect the back and the edges and THAT'S IT
Its got gorilla glass...so how could it even suffer from scratches in the first place?
Get one ASAP! i didn't have one on mine the first month, and it's scratched in the bottom part, and some other places around the screen, and i have been very careful with it, i always carry it in my left pocket, where i doesn't have anything else, and never lay it screen down etc.
My old hero has a lot tougher glass than this one.
Drag a diamond across the glass and report back?
Kidding aside, the screen protector in the accessories forum feels almost as good as bareback.

I ordered two when I first got it, but I am yet to put them on, I need a some form of sticky dust remover to remove the fine particles/lint from cleaning (almost like contact but not as much adhesive, like a removable/reusable sticker).
I never got any scratches on my old iPhone with the crappy $10 replacement glass and digitizer from ebay, so **touch wood** I think I will be fine.
im not havent since i got it. No scratches at all with normal everyday pocket use. i mean its a risk but everyone knows its better without a condom
same here, never used a screen protector on my phones. My old Sony P1 still has no scratches, used my HTC Desire for a year without a cover and it has no scratches (on the screen that is) and had my Sensation for while no, no marks on the screen what so ever (I did get the first scratches / parts where the paint is gone) on the side because I dropped it two times in a row :S.

It's a personal preference. I've had my phones bare. (MyTouch 3G, Nexus One, Nexus S, G2, Droid 2)
I've only had a case for my Nexus S, because it was really cheap at work and was the same concept as the Otterbox. I've tried Zagg sheilds on my Nexus One, Nexus S, G2, and Droid 2. And I can easily say they bug the crap out of me. I can feel a difference in quality of touch response, as well as comfort(too much friction).
However, some people live by these products. I can't stand them though, and I've tried to get used to them. They're great if you're careless about your phone. I always make sure my keys are in my left pocket, and phone is in my right pocket. Out of all the phones I've owned, only the Nexus One had a scratch on the screen, and it wasn't really noticeable. In fact, I would still use it, if there weren't dust/sand underneath the screen(left it in sand at the beach for about an hour one day....).

Also my screen works with water too.. Please test that, take some water in a PET bottle and touch it to the screen, then please write this if you face that.

Use a matte finish screen guard/clean your hands before you use your phone and this wont happen.
Water actually makes any capacitive touch phone go beserk.
Have had this problem..and i recommend a MATTE FINISH screen guard. Since the day i am using it, havent had that ghost operate my phone
If you dont get one in your country/state, use galaxy s2's matte screen guard till you find one.

Buddy... For me it was totally opposite... I had switched to a matte screen guard soon after buying my phone last year but I had so much problem with ghost touch... The day i switched to glossy screen guard my problems were solved..
Matte is better as its not a finger print magnet.. But the drawback is that it feels rougher, doesn't have good visibility in the sun, colours don't look as rich.. And for me the screen used to respond on its own.. It also makes some noise when you slide your finger across it(again personal opinion)..
Glossy is better coz its smoother, colours are much much better (personal opinion), it is very user friendly in strong sunlight and it's silent to use (no noise when sliding finger over it).. The drawback is its a fingerprint magnet..

Agreed..when battery gets critically low viewing in the daylight is kinda tough.
Yeah that happens.
But the phone looks beautiful too.
I had changed three clear screen guards and the ghost problem due to moisture was MUCH MUCH higher than the matte. Never experienced it after changing to matte.
Plus clear guards get scratched very easily and quickly which makes the screen go pathetic. Even then viewing.in the sunlight becomes a hassle.
Matte screen guard dont get scratched and last longer.
And when you press hard and slide on the screen..only then it makes a sound.
Rest ive never heard the sound.
Buddy i suggest you to try it again..
I hope it will be a good experience.
And no screen guard can damage the phone.
How can they if they can?
