Bricked MOTO Droid, Please Help! - Motorola Droid Android Development

screen cracked on my Droid. So I ordered a new one. Replacment went well! I tore it down and the new screen worked fine except the home, menue, search, back keys didn't respond. So i ordered another one since obviously I got a defective.
I recieved the newest one today. So i tore it down again and replaced the screen once again. Problem is now that all I get is a blank screen. Droid powers up, screen lights up, but no M appears.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

You kinda posted in the wrong section, but ill help you anyways.
Are you getting any feedback at all?
Does the screen power?
Can you unlock it blindly?
If not leave it in a charger for a few hours.
Also check your display cable for the lcd

Hey sorry bout the wrong section, I appriciate the assistance.
Responses are a negative
Screen does power up and soft keys light
Everything becomes un responsive once the power comes on. And safe or recovery boot doesn't respond.
It was fully functional before the replacement, anyway to check the mother board threw usb for functions?
Trying to leave it on the wall charger now.

My Inspire died!

Help! I took the phone out of my pocket and it won't turn on. Tried pulling the battery. Plugging into wall charger does not light up the LED. Tried holding down power button, holding down volume button and then press power button. No response... Any other suggestions?
Has my phone died? I only got it on Friday, and is all stock. Have not rooted, never dropped or wet the phone. This is not good.
At least it's brand new and you can get another. Sorry man
Take it back and get a replacement

Yeah, I might have to take it back for replacement. This is not good... I hope it's just an isolated incident. Usually with an iPhone or Captivate, pretty easy to reset and bring back to life... Now I'd be scared to root and flash ROMs in the future if so easy to die.
Was your phone rooted? What Rom did you install?

My phone is completely stock. Never rooted and have not flashed any ROMs at all. Have not even sideloaded any apps.
Just got it exchanged for a brand new phone. The Costco cell booth guy couldn't get it started either. Hopefully won't happen again.

Any new phone would be covered in the OP's case as it's within the return window and warranted by the mfgr. Insurance wouldn't need to be used.
Strange, hope it doesn't happen again!
i haven't had any issues with mine. sounds like a defective product from the box. glad you got it taken care of.
stooopid
My girlfriend bought this phone last night after i hyped it up cuz i have the evo. Anyway she got it home let it fully charge we went to use it and the screen wouldn't come on but if you held it to the light you could see all the capacitve dots (don't know if thats what they are) in the screen and you could see the clock and icons almost as if the screen was on without the backlight. so we had to pull the battery it worked for a about 15 minutes while i showed her stuff and when i went to log into the market i got a "force close" error and the htc splash screen came up and then it kinda did an awkward boot loop thing. it wouldnt stop so i pulled the battery again and now it is dead just like the OP phone no charging lights anything. i've read around the net a little bit and it don't sound like an isolated thing. i'm taking her phone back today but i don't know if i should have her stay with that htc or go toward the xperia that she was eye-ing up. sorry for the 5 page story

[Q] EVO shift stuck on HTC screen

Hi all,
Wife's screen stuck in HTC screen. Tried the volume down/power and factory reset with no luck, goes back to white screen with HTC logo.
I would be fine with reflashing it (it is out of warranty by several months) to original specs...was a 2.2 but she upgraded to 2.3. there are no roots or mods on this phone.
What led to the issue - she dropped in a shallow puddle getting out of car . It fell in face down, had her remove the battery instantly. I shook off moisture (was on the screen/ keyboard - the back half never made it underwater. Let dry out for half a day. shook it looking for any moisture - found none (regretting not letting it dry out longer). put in battery and phone booted normally (had low battery)...got home and plugged it in (phone had shut off due to battery low). Red light was on for several hours so she hit power button and now it is on "HTC" white screen.
placed it in a bag of rice overnight with back cover / battery out, still on HTC screen
removed rear cover and motherboard - zero signs of moisture, but ran hairdryer on it on warm setting not letting it get too hot for about 15 minutes...still no sign of water then reassembled. Still on HTC screen.
It will get to the bootloader screen when plugging usb into phone, but need suggestions on what to do / how to reflash (kind of a newb though had successfully rooted my EVO 4g with instructions from xda so not completely useless)
Any suggestions on where to start...tried searched but finding most info is for rooting/modding.
Thanks!
First thing is you should make sure it's really dry. It might not have been. Pull the battery, and stick it in a bowl full of dry rice. In the Sun is not a bad idea ( what I did to save one for someone ) . Leave it in at least a day. While it's drying make sure you charge the battery up to full capacity. NOT IN THE PHONE! Maybe use another device, or an external charger. After you've left it in the rice for a day or so, take it out dust it off. Then stick the now fully charged battery back in, and power it on. See if it boots up. If it does not then you probably toasted it. Do you have T.E.P. ? If so T.E.P. does cover water damage.
riced it
thanks for the reply - forgot to mention - placed it in a bag of rice overnight with back cover / battery out, still on HTC screen
removed rear cover and motherboard - zero signs of moisture, but ran hairdryer on it on warm setting not letting it get too hot for about 15 minutes...still no sign of water then reassembled. Still on HTC screen. then researched on xda and got into the bootloader screen.
What I guess I need is info on how to reflash it..not sure if onboard memory is toast, but how can I tell?
replaced
Sprint replaced it with a new EVO 4g (shift wasn't in stock) for $35.... problem solved.

[Q] New LCD and Digitizer DOA?? Help please!

So I ordered a new LCD and digitizer from new harbor via amazon.
I took the phone apart, installed the new array, and powered it on, and the screen is great (maybe even brighter than the last one) but it just has zero touch input.
The last screen worked fine, but the LCD was broken. I could have it acknowledge touches so I dont think that the motherboard or anything else is broken, so I wonder what may have went wrong.
Should I take this mofo apart again and see if I have a loose connection? Maybe the ribbon cable is not connected right?
Probably the past is DOA?
Help please! thanks.

Is this somewhere in the service menu? I can boot into its custom menu by holding down volume and power... Not sure if there's more to it.
It's rooted s-off so I get menus to get into recovery or fast boot etc

Scratch that. Just re read your post. "Zero touch input". It's an option in the rom.
There are a few threads/posts where people have replaced the screen, either here or the dhd forum. Check what they had to say. I have absolutely no experience in that. Perhaps it's a cable as you said, but before doing that, I would research on it first. You may end up like me with 9 screws left over after taking apart my ps3 three times (screwing it up even more).

Removing and taking it apart isn't a problem. There are only eight screws.
This isn't fun... To be certain.

Did you ever get this taken care of?
Just replaced mine. LCD intact. Touch no longer working. They aren't kidding: this phone isn't fun to work on. It's a *****. I've repaired a half dozen iPhones. This makes that stuff seem rudimentary.

I've had my inspire apart several times. Other than removing the Flash/GPS, and separating the LCD from the frame its quite simple. If you want a pain try a slide phone.

Understand your pain because just recently I had to change my entire screen for my Inspire 4G. I assume that you did everything correctly but here is the video that helped me on youtube:

If you did everything correctly it could just mean that you prob got a faulty part

HELP!!! One X randomly turns off

I was on the phone with my One X and the battery was green, when next thing you know I look at the screen and it's black and holding the power button does nothing. I then try to plug it in, but the LED indicator does not come up either, any help? Also, the computer does not recognize it when plugged in, it was 0n stock 2.20

I found a similar problem on androidforums and here is what he said:
Got my One X on Monday this week, haven't had any problems until now and thought it was a great phone. Just finished making a call though, went to press "End Call" and the screen didn't switch back on and now doesn't seem to want to do anything. Have plugged into the mains and it's not charging but when I call the phone externally it still rings.... Confused is not the word!
and the solution for him was holding the power button for more than 10 seconds, that doesn't work for me, although it was the exact same problem, please please please, any help would be greatly appreciated

Ok, umm have you tried a different charger? And I would leave it plugged in overnight. If nothing in the morning. Definitely hardware issue I'd think with something., then get a replacement from att

yes i have. well the problem with that being, I bought the phone with a cracked screen a little while ago and it has been working fine, but haven't gotten around to fixing it and if I wanted to get a replacement from ATT I would have to fix the screen which is why I'm trying to fix it
The problems you guys were having is just proximity sensor and screen timeout together. His isn't even recognized by the pc. Since you recently had the screen replaced there is about a 99% chance a ribbon cable wasn't secured properly and came out or there was a hardware failure internally probably related to the phone having to get the screen repaired(scratching the board, or weakening or folding a ribbon cable blah blah) So I think your best bet would be going back inside and start checking all the ribbons and stuff

I think you're in the wrong place, this is the One XL forum and there is no Android Revolution ROM for the XL.
And looking at some of your other posts, this isn't the first time you've posted in the wrong place. Make sure you stay within the One X+ forum, that way you'll be able to get advice from people who actually have your device. Plus you won't accidentally flash something that's not intended for your device.

Touch Screen Not Working

Morning all,
My Xoom (MZ602) was exposed to some water. While the unit powers up and the screen comes on its not responding to touch, swipe, etc. Does this mean the digitizer is prolly shot? I am trying to determine what spare parts I need to purchase to bring this beloved device back to full operation.
Thanks,
Steve
I think my battery went bad and mine was doing the same thing as yours but only when plugged up. Once I unplugged it the touchscreen worked fine. No the battery is dead and won't charge

Mine does it either plugged or unplugged. I can charge the device with no issues. Based on all I have read it looks like I will replace the screen and digitizer, and go from there.
Thanks!
