You can download and flash all the roms you want, you'll never change your radio that way because...
Custom roms flashable through clockwork recovery, nearly every one in the dev section, don't include the radio. The couple you will find will be an ruu type PD98IMG.zip, and will tell you if the radio is included and you'd have to flash through hboot.
When you rooted your phone, that's the type of ROM that was flashed.
Go to the inspire only radio thread, here, and read-up good before you start messing with radios.
Do the research first, and you'll be better prepared for some of the quirks of radio flashing. There's a lot of factors that can impact radio performance. The above thread covers the key concepts well. There's also knowledge to be had amongst the comments.
Good luck.

noob question, sorry but this is my first ever flash and im confidant i can do it
basically i want to unlock my phone to work with other sim cards im on orange uk stock rom but i want to use other sim cards, even if its just to check ones i find around my house
i picked up instructions from here
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361039
in this it tells me i need to flash the phone with the radio again once i finished but ive checked threads and theres only htc roms and atnt roms and cooked ones
ihave rom version 1.81.61.2 wwe adn radio 1.27.14.32
What rom do you want? you can use a cooked rom just fine with your phone.... Or you could used the generic HTC rom.
Did you register for the HTC club? if your phone is HTC branded you can usually download roms right from there.
double posting you should be ashamed of yourself
Yeah, you really should be flammed... Cause I commented on the other post too...

This is because the 'unlocking' process is specific to a particular ROM i.e. install a ROM that can be unlocked, then replace the 'unlock-ROM' with the original ROM or one of your own.
Not all ROMs are available, so searching for a copy of your original ROM to re-install is beneficial if you wish to keep the original on your phone (warranty etc blah blah blah).
PS. There is nothing wrong with the 'unlock-ROM' if you wish to keep it on the phone.
i should ashamed but im not, since this post has slight differences to the one in geberal and besides i needed a fast answer and theres more people here

just follow the instructions to unlock the phone ( by flashing the patched radio) then once it is unlocked flash a different ROM. ( Dutty's or the new Throttle ROM, best one so far. Looks COOL!!! and runs great too.......lol ) Once you step away from the HTC ROMS the Kaiser is in a world of its own. So much better with a cooked ROM compared to a branded one. No contest....
yeah but i cant find my radio anywhere its 1.27.14.32 and now spl wont flash

just flash a newer radio after you unlock. Should work OK...... a lot of the cooked ROM's have preffered radios anyway.
The way I did it:- First flash HardSPL, then unlock phone using instructions, after complete decide which cooked ROM to flash and its corresponding preferred radio. The result: works like a charm, no problems....
see that the thing ive done my device just the wae i want but the sim unlocker needs my origional radio and i cant get it
and now my hard spl wont work after the dos bit does its business in loads up kaisercustom ruu or summit and this nees an activsync connection but the stepss on the first part of the hardspl thingy render the phone in bottloader and the activsync icon grey
I just got a ATT fuze, and I think that all of the att bloatware is slowing the thing down. Is there a tutorial anywhere on how to de-brand it? If not, anybody feel like helping me out with it? I have the unlock code to sim unlock it but thats it.

Hi, do u mean taking the logo off the front of the device or flashing a faster rom? for rom make sure u flash Hard spl(check the noob guide) and for the logo if its not actually in the glass on the front then u would open your phone cover up and scrape the logo off(not recomended). once u have hard spl u can change the logo that shows when u turn it on and the gay att animation.
That's pretty much what this entire forum is all about. You need to check out the ROM section of the Raphael sub-section and read the sticky's there. I would HIGHLY recommend installing the Energy ROM series. If you are going from the AT&T ROM to that you will be floored with the increase in speed and just overall sexyness.

Just the software/firmware. I could care less what the phone actually looks like as long as it works correctly.
Anybody have any recommendations on what ROM to flash? It's actually going to my girlfriend once I get this ATT branding off of it, so the easier to use the better. I was thinking about just loading the unbranded touch pro's ROM if I can find it, unless the cooked ROMs would be ok for someone who probably won't want to reflash ROMs often.
If you need stability, flash a WM6.1 ROM, the WM6.5 ROMs are still beta and a little buggy.

EneryROM - a totally different experience.. try it ...
I think I'm gonna try one of the engeryrom 6.1 ROMs. Thanks guys!
Out of curiosity, lets say that I brick the phone, anyway to bring it back?

To brick your phone implies that is is dead and cannot be brought back.
There are very few instances where a device cannot be bought back.
If you read the Noob flashing guide, make sure you have Hard SPL installed and follow the directions to the letter, you won't brick your phone.
One thing to remember, as you start flashing ROMs, you will want to flash back to stock ROM in between flashing customs ROMs as the RUU wrappers do not completely overwrite the previous ROMs but flashing back to stock does.

So bricking a phone would be one of those instances where it's not coming back, right? I just want to make sure that I understand it...

I'm not really planning on reflashing a lot honestly, since it's not my personal phone. If that was the case, then I'd probably play a bit more with it.
It does look pretty straight forward but I always tend to worry a bit when I do something new. I don't really expect anything bad to happen though.
Just a warning, its very addicting....
It looks like it is. I wish my e63 had the same hacks that these have for them. I see a lot of room for improvment on it...
I wouldn't say all the 6.5 ROMs are buggy. Get the latest EnergyROM which is 6.5. The buggy ones are 6.5.1 which are changing the UI.
First.off all lets stop the discussion about which is the best ROM! LOOK FIRST into debloating a stock ROM. Arupenthal and myself have good threads about it. SECOND look into hardSPL and understand what it does. THIRD I agree that a good start would be a 6.1 based ROM again arupp and NRG (2.0) ROMs may be the best start. Careful flashing a stock HTC TouchPro ROM. It may work w/o hardSPL but the keyboard layout differs and requires at least one more cab (fuzekeyboard) and even ATT connection setup.. Be patient read a lot and understand what you are doing and what'ss going on!! It'll take some time but Rome wasn't built in a day either
I recently switched to the CoreDroid HD V8 rom. I am using the suggested radio:
12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 - (HTC Ace Gingerbread S Generic 2.36.0)
- Also flash the following RIL package: RIL_2.36
But ever since switching from stock to this setup, I end up on 3g and edge, when I used to stay on 4g. I was wondering if this is normal, or a problem with the radio or rom I am using.
Check your speed through the speedtest.net app. Inspire based ROMS show H+ no matter what. Others do not give you that fake H+. They give you the normal E, 3G, H and so on.
Yeah that's what I was thinking. So as long as I am able to make and recieve calls, and data is working. And I am not having the battery drained from tower bouncing, then the radio I am using is fine?

If the radio is working fine for you, then I wouldn't recommend changing anything.. Especially if you don't really understand it.
But on the other hand.. when I initially rooted my phone.. I was just using the stock radio and had no problems either.. but then when I did flash a recommended radio, I did notice an improvement.
In the end, it is up to you. If you want to learn a bit more about your phone and possibly improve your experience, I would suggest that you read this sticky (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106324) and then do what it says.

According to what I understand, no need to flash a new radio unless dropped calls or no data usage is a problem. I just like to go all the way with whatever I do, so I update everything I can.

I rooted my captivate but never got into ROMS and such with it, not that I have the Inspire I have flashed a handful of ROMS and whatnot... however I just got the guts (and knowledge) to flash radios... I went with LEEs rom and recommended radio however I noticed that my DL speeds were way low (below 1mps) so I went back to the stock radio and ril and boom right back where they we before... so if your phones working I see no reason to change anything..
Hey guys im going to be new to the Sensation Community..
Im coming from the Samsung Vibrant.. so i know a thing or two about rooting, flashing etc.. im lookin forward to join you guys..
but before i join yall, i have to buy the phone first LOl..
i saw one a CL and ive been talking to this person awhile about the phone.. we are going to meet up after she gets off work..
But she told me that the phone came in the mail, and is not opened because she decided to go with a Galaxy S 4g instead.. But the post says feburary 2nd so its been a little over a month, im sure she or whoever have used it by now..
So my question is this: (if it is opened and or have gotten used)
-- What do i need to look for on this phone when i meet up with her? What are certainties that i need to know and make sure this phone is mint before i make the buy?
thanks guys!
Check the H Boot version and s on. 1.17 or 1.18 H Boot version with s on is fine and you can use revolutionary to s off, 1.23 s on is no bueno and cannot be s off with Revolutionary.
Do Not use HTC Unlock, it doesn't really unlock the bootloader for flashing radios and kernels, you need to be s off for that, which means custom ROMS won't instal properly and you will bootloop or be in some other unusable state. Only Revolutionary will give you s off.
Be careful flashing firmwares, read the stickies in General section and always read all of the instructions in ROM threads if you plan to flash any custom ROMS.
I recommend running a benchmark program to make sure everything is running fine. I use Antutu, but you can get the want you want. Check for the average result for the HTC Sensation for the particular benchmark program you use, and make sure the one you'll get is within normal values.
Hey all, I'm sorry if this seems an odd question, but I'm still trying to get my head wrapped around the process of how the One S gets different features flashed to the device.
I don't have my One S yet (Hopefully it'll arrive later today, 7/27) but I wanted to be prepared when it arrives.
It seems the links are broken in this post and it's stating that this thread is outdated.
If I'm going to flash a new ROM on the device, are the radios generally included in that ROM already? I see that you often times need to manually flash BOOT.IMG on a per-ROM basis due to not having s-off? I'm comfortable with all of that, I just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything, and unfortunately it seems as though there is little information in some of the threads on XDA that clearly answer my question.
Call it a personality defect, I just like to 100% understand something in every possible way before being able to attempt it. Unfortunately when I don't have the device in front of me, it prevents me from being able to do that, but that's what forums are for, right?
Cheers all, I appreciate anyone taking the time to answer my question.

The latest radio with android 4.0.4 rom is said to be much better in terms of performace of wifi and cellular data signal then all previous versions, unfortunately buying a phone at this stage means that you probably will have a later hboot version 1.13 and this hboot doesnt allow flashing radio from recovery like the previous versions. You can find out more info about the radio in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781033
To answer your other question the radio has to be flashed separately from the ROM. Hopefully your phone comes with a lower hboot so flashing wont be a problem, make sure you dont accept the ota update out of the box like i did so u dont accidently get an upgraded hboot. Makes life more diificult ;p.
Its a used phone and is already running CM9, so I'm hoping its the older boot. I already made sure it was the S4, but I just realized that the unlocked phones don't support TMOUS bands, so I'm a bit screwed at the moment.
I don't know what the next step is for me, so I may be forced to move to Straight Talk until I can get another 100% compatible TMOUS phone. I saw it has 2100 HSPA radio frequencies so I had assumed it would work on TMOUS. Needless to say I feel pretty stupid now.
Thanks again for the links, they were exactly what I was looking for!

If you want to get this new radio, the only way to do it at this moment is to change to SuperCID and follow the steps from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781033
