Debranding a ATT branded Touch pro(fuze) - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I just got a ATT fuze, and I think that all of the att bloatware is slowing the thing down. Is there a tutorial anywhere on how to de-brand it? If not, anybody feel like helping me out with it? I have the unlock code to sim unlock it but thats it.

Hi, do u mean taking the logo off the front of the device or flashing a faster rom? for rom make sure u flash Hard spl(check the noob guide) and for the logo if its not actually in the glass on the front then u would open your phone cover up and scrape the logo off(not recomended). once u have hard spl u can change the logo that shows when u turn it on and the gay att animation.

That's pretty much what this entire forum is all about. You need to check out the ROM section of the Raphael sub-section and read the sticky's there. I would HIGHLY recommend installing the Energy ROM series. If you are going from the AT&T ROM to that you will be floored with the increase in speed and just overall sexyness.

Just the software/firmware. I could care less what the phone actually looks like as long as it works correctly.

Anybody have any recommendations on what ROM to flash? It's actually going to my girlfriend once I get this ATT branding off of it, so the easier to use the better. I was thinking about just loading the unbranded touch pro's ROM if I can find it, unless the cooked ROMs would be ok for someone who probably won't want to reflash ROMs often.

If you need stability, flash a WM6.1 ROM, the WM6.5 ROMs are still beta and a little buggy.

EneryROM - a totally different experience.. try it ...

I think I'm gonna try one of the engeryrom 6.1 ROMs. Thanks guys!
Out of curiosity, lets say that I brick the phone, anyway to bring it back?

To brick your phone implies that is is dead and cannot be brought back.
There are very few instances where a device cannot be bought back.
If you read the Noob flashing guide, make sure you have Hard SPL installed and follow the directions to the letter, you won't brick your phone.
One thing to remember, as you start flashing ROMs, you will want to flash back to stock ROM in between flashing customs ROMs as the RUU wrappers do not completely overwrite the previous ROMs but flashing back to stock does.

So bricking a phone would be one of those instances where it's not coming back, right? I just want to make sure that I understand it...

I'm not really planning on reflashing a lot honestly, since it's not my personal phone. If that was the case, then I'd probably play a bit more with it.
It does look pretty straight forward but I always tend to worry a bit when I do something new. I don't really expect anything bad to happen though.

Just a warning, its very addicting....

It looks like it is. I wish my e63 had the same hacks that these have for them. I see a lot of room for improvment on it...

I wouldn't say all the 6.5 ROMs are buggy. Get the latest EnergyROM which is 6.5. The buggy ones are 6.5.1 which are changing the UI.

First.off all lets stop the discussion about which is the best ROM! LOOK FIRST into debloating a stock ROM. Arupenthal and myself have good threads about it. SECOND look into hardSPL and understand what it does. THIRD I agree that a good start would be a 6.1 based ROM again arupp and NRG (2.0) ROMs may be the best start. Careful flashing a stock HTC TouchPro ROM. It may work w/o hardSPL but the keyboard layout differs and requires at least one more cab (fuzekeyboard) and even ATT connection setup.. Be patient read a lot and understand what you are doing and what'ss going on!! It'll take some time but Rome wasn't built in a day either

Tilt Was bricked..any ideas as to unbricking?

hey Guyz. I have a Tilt that a customer gave me that got bricked while trying to flash one of dutty's roms...Problem is that the genius didn't load up Hard SPL even tho he told me that he did...now He wants me to fix it...even tho he didn't follow my instructions and read the WiKi...I kno that on the Hermes it was able to be unbricked. Is the same for the Kaiser possible? I would greatly appreciate your help as my customers are loving the work you guyz do here in nyc..
Thanks in Advance!
Cristian
What is the current status of the phone?
Can you get into the bootloader at all?
If you can get to the bootloader you should be able to load the AT&T AKU v0.4.4 ROM (the unoffical upgraded AT&T ROM). Once you get that loaded you should flash HardSPL immediately.
Let me know how it goes...
Cheers.
I bricked my tilt when it was less than 24 hours old... I recovered it with a BETA of the ATT rom and THEN redoing the hardspl thingy - worked a treat.
Do a search for tolt bricked and you should find afew threads for it.
The rom is called something like RUU_Kaiser_ATT_WWE....._Internal.exe
It goes to the Tri-Color Screen but stays there..I'll go ahead and research it so I can find the original AT&T and load it up...It shows a lot..workin for at&t and being a member on xda...U guyz have no idea how ya make life easier for my tilt customers b/c at&t truly dropped the ball on the rom...and by offering alternatives..u make the user experience so much better...thanks!

If you are at the bootloader screen (Tri-Color) then the phone is not bricked. In the sticky at the top on how to revert back for warranty replacement, it has links for the various roms. Just flash an official AT&T rom on it and you should be good to go. Then do the HardSPL.
Cool that you work for AT&T and hang out here! If you have any other warranty returns, I can give you my address as I wouldn't mind having a backup or two...
BTW: The AT&T ROM for the Tilt is actually quite good in the big picture of things. At least the phone is usable (slower than it should be and less memory than it should have, but its still very usable and stable on the official rom). If you want to ***** about official roms, go back to the 8125 and its official rom. The while the device (at the time) was great, that rom made the phone almost worthless (super slow, battery problems, bad radio, dropped calls, freezing, etc). I can't tell you how many people that run custom roms on the Wizard just can't believe what that phone is actually capable of.
Ok, sorry, got off topic there...
does Hard-SPL needs to be flashed just once on a device or does it need to be installed every tome a new ROM is going to be Flashed onto it?

The Vendor ID error means the ROM cannot be loaded on the Tilt without HardSPL. You need an original Tilt ROM. (That's what I think about this)

Oddly enough the "Original" Tilt ROM will not install on a Tilt that does not already have HardSPL on it (to spell it out for you, the CID of the ROM does not match the Tilt's stock SPL). If you check the "reverting back" sticky you'll find all this info already, though it is deep in the thread.
The AKU v.0.4.4 ATT Beta ROM does have the correct CID and will flash on a stock Tilt. SO that is what you are forced to resort to at this point. Once you get the beta ROM installed you can (and probably should) install HardSPL.
After all that, if you decide you want to return or warranty the phone follow the "revert" thread to restore it to "stock" form.
Some additional notes on your problem...
ActiveSync will not connect in Bootloader mode (this is expected). You should see a device show up in Device Manager however, I can't recall the exact description however.
quick flash procedure:
put phone in bootloader
connect usb cable
install ROM
FYI, the problem may not be a bricked tilt... you could try Pof's fix which involves using MTTY.exe to boot the phone, depending on how your "customer" tried to flash it it may just need a kick in the pants to restore it. (search Pof's SSPL for the Kaiser thread for instructions, the thread was closed so you will have to look deep).
<climbing on my soapbox>
Lastly... your use of the word "customer" concerns me... are you charging people for the work you do to their phones? If so, do you donate to the people who make it possible? I'm probably just misunderstanding you, but if you're profiting from others work, perhaps you should contribute (especially if you're coming here to ask for help).

Customers as in I work for an AT&T corporate owned Retail location and they have bought Tilts from me. They kno my Tilt has been modded and they usually want to do the same. All in all it sounds like the guy wants a custom ROM so you should probably get the ATT Beta ROM and install that. And then install HardSPL.
Check Kyphur's second post in the thread below for the ROM you want.

@kaal,
It seems what you want to do is a HARD RESET. Please visit Kaiser Wiki and read through. You'll know your phone better that way.

What are the risks of unlocking my TP2?

Hello Im completely new to modding/ hacking smartphones and was wondering what the risks are for unlocking my verizon TP2 when the unlocker is released? I like to hack all of my gadgets and gizmos to my liking like my ipod touch for instance but with my ipod if anything goes wrong I cant just put it back in DFU and restore it back to the normal firmware and I was wondering if it is the same sort of deal with the my touch pro 2. Also any advice would help at least to lower any risk that there might be.
NO risk if done Right!
There is always risk, but if you do it right you will be able to fully use all the great features of the TP2, It's the most sophisticated and nice PPC on the US market right now.
Don't worry, it's the same type of deal, you will be able to relock you TP2 and re-install the out of the factory ROM that it's is f loathing around.
Thanks for the reply Im glad to hear that and Dont worry Ill make sure to read the instructions very carefully so ill do it right.

But just so you understand . . . if you flash a new ROM, you can't just hard reset and have it go back to the factory default. When you hard reset after flashing a new ROM, you'll get a fresh install FROM THE FLASHED ROM, not from your carrier's original.
If for some reason you have to return the phone, you'll have to re-flash your carrier's default ROM.
biggest risk...you will become addicted to flashing like the rest of us lol

But seriously, just like everyone else said, just make sure to do the research, there's already been a few people in this part of XDA that have tried to flash their CDMA phones with GSM ROMs . Also, just like the rest said, READ THE DIRECTIONS, and make sure to read instructions of the ENTIRE process before you even start, that way you're not surprised with anything at the wrong time.
I have the CDMA Touch Pro 2 (sprint) and am trying to find a re-locker. I am waiting to flash, until I have everything in place to go back should I need to for warranty reasons...
Anyone can point me in the right direction to find the re-locker?

Ok...so my tp2 is verizon and I did the whole hardspl thing and somehow got the energyrom leo on my fone, and then wen i tried to update to the new sense 2.1 extreme rom, i dont know wat happened. It said to use this custom ruu thing which i clicked on, and wen it updated my fone, my fone does absolutely nothing now cept loading the start screen where it says Touch pro2
I new something was wrong becus at no point was the .nbh that i extracted used, but no ruu came with the file that i downloaded...sighhh so is my fone dead or wat? I tried hard resetting, and although i am able to get to the hard reset page, wen i actually do it, it still just freezes where touch pro2 screen comes out

Failed flashing with CustomRUU.exe
Every flash has failed (freezes at "Touch Pro2" boot screen) when I tried to use a ROM that uses CustomRUU.exe (Miri, Cell_Pro, Athine, AF, Shadowline, and others). Flashing ROMs that use ROMUpdateUtility.exe already extracted flash fine. I've even tried first flash the original Sprint stock ROM and then flashing a "CustomRUU" ROM but without success. I've also extracted the files from the CustomRUU.exe and then run it with the nbh file but that doesn't work either. HTC Touch Pro2 (Sprint)

You're flashing CDMA ROMs, right? Not the GSM only ones found here, but CDMA ones from elsewhere, like here? Try flashing one of the CDMA ROMs found at the second link, and see if that works, because I think you may be flashing GSM ROMs onto your CDMA device, which would explain why it flashes, but doesn't boot properly. Hope that helps

Apparently, I was flashing a GSM ROM. There really should be better indication of what the ROM is designed for than simply being in a particular form. It wouldn't be any trouble to add a few characters (GSM/CDMA) to the file name to make it clear.

Exactly. Even if you have insurance on the TP2, if you sent it back with anything that is not stock, your insurance is probably voided, they probably wont give you your phone back, and you might even have to pay full price for a new one. Good luck man. Definitely should have held out for some responses before you sent it out. If you haven't then that's good, but if you did, your probably out of luck.

Turn on the device while holding down the Power button and the Volume Down key. If you see Serial and 3-4 colored bars plug in your USB, and reflash with a CDMA Rom.

[SOLVED] Going back to Original ROM

Hi guys,
nice work from JockyW, ookba and everyone doing the job to bring us excellent software (pls if i forgot anyone, don't be mad ). I really appreciated the RUU_MAPL_3VOLUTION_WM65_3VO.2.50.112509 for a long time but I will sell my Maple now. It time to move on and try something new. Thats why I need to go back to the Official HTC ROM. I just cannot get it to work...
Obviously just flashing the original HTC Rom won't do the job because of the Hardspl, but how do i get around this. I just need some help on going back.
Thanks in advance, UKFencer
160 hits and nobody got an idea...? Or is the answer too simple?
If i am missing something pls point me to it.
Thanks,

Sorry, I don't think I have any idea. I *think just flashing the original ROM should work, I have upgrade/downgraded other phones with factory/custom roms with no problem. I have a question on top of yours. If I don't Hard SPL, what do I lose? There's a thread about downgrading the HardSpl to 1.19 or 18, I don't know if that helps. I would like an answer to my AT&T question as well. Sorry about hijacking your topic but I at least bumped it.

Yes, I agree with your sentiments regarding the ROM, point is however that once the custom ROM is flashed with the Hardspl, the original ROM cannot be flashed back, which is sometimes required, especially if something happens to the phone and it has to be returned for repairs etc to the retailers.
Strange, it´s the 1st time I know that an HTC device can´t go back to original ROM...
I´ll do some research...
The original SPL is included in the package you downloaded from here..... Just have to use it, flash original rom, and you are on your way....

I am planning on giving in for a few ROMs, but read they need to have a new radio flashed as well. How risky is this? Or, whats the WORST that could go wrong? I know that when flashing a ROM, the worst is that it wont flash right and cause a semi-brick that is easily fixed by flashing a backup ROM.
But, what about if you flash a radio and THAT gets FUBARed? Is it just as easily fixed as restoring with your latest backup?
I am not serious enough to try flashing ROMs if there is the potential for a 100% brick. I am a noob, but can follow directions well. (Or as well as they are written).
Thanks,
Matt
Actually flashing a radio is the most risky thing. If you screw up, you can brick it. However, I flashed it without problems and it's very easy. Just make sure you didn't download a corrupted file

Yikes! So there is the chance for a 100% brick then? Is there a way out of this? Its too bad that there isnt a way around having to do this...
What are some steps to take to get the absolute best chance at this? Also, does this mean that if I wanted to return to my stock ROM, I would have to find my stock radio and re-flash all that too?
Seems this may not be worth it, for me just yet...I was just curious to see how the dual core support ROMs are compared to stock.

If you want to revert to stock you just have to run the official RUU found here.
Download the one that matches your region
Regarding whether its worth it or not, the risk of bricking your phone is very small, and if you check the md5 sum its virtually nonexistant

Hello,
I know how to do that, as well as use recovery to use my backup, but my question is whether or not a failed radio flash can 100% kill your phone?
For instance, lets say I am flashing whatever radio I was advised to use for a ROM and then I get some error. Would I be screwed, or could I just flash my backup or use the RUU to be back in business?

1. ROMs are very easy to flash. As said, the Radio is much riskier to do than the ROM itself (although the comments about changing Radio having a low chance of bricking your phone if the process is done right are probably true).
2. Dual core support is not yet properly done. From all the feedback I've seen, it looks like a lot of devs have already pulled dual core support when people were saying it hardly increased performance while adding other issues. That said, it's still worth it to try custom ROMs because they offer speed improvements even without dual core support yet.
3. You can try custom ROMs without changing radios. I know I did (I'm currently on CoreDroid 2.3 and I didn't touch the radio), and my stock radio has given me the same data speeds and battery life I saw stock. There are a number of people who don't ever change the radio when they try different ROMs and they too have no problems. Ultimately, if you really don't want to change radios, just try out different ROMs until you find one that works well with the stock radio (and if you're like me it will only take your 1st shot to find one that does). I recommend going this route (flashing ROMs but not changing the stock radio) until you've done a lot of reading/searching about changing radios and gathered the courage to do it.
