Question/opinions about ril's and att? - HTC Inspire 4G

Just updated my radio and ril. I just flashed my first rom( gingerbeast) yesterday. Today I did my first radio and ril. I followed the recommended chart and updated to the latest att radio(06.06.30-M) and the recommended ril 2.2.0079hm.
My question is I noticed in several members signature and they are also running the latest radio but a lot are running the 2.2.0018G with gingerbeast? Am I missing something, have y'all getting better performance with this ril?
I do understand that all phones are different etc...just looking for opinions and personal limes.

Please post in the correct sections.

The 18G ril is for AOSP ROMs

Can someone tell me what is AOSP rom or source. I googled but no luck. I have seen this mentioned in other post.

It is Android Open Source Program (I think) its the way Google made it and then HTC added there stuff to it.

The Gingerbeast is a AOSP hybird ([rom/kernel] * GingerBeast * -AOSP hybrid- 2.1.2 according to the developer) so should I be using the other ril that I stated above?
Thanks for replies!! and help!

You may need to watch it a little longer than a day, just so you know. This allows for the radio changes to "settle in," and also gives some leeway to allow for any ATT/network signal inconsistencies that day that might color your evaluation of the radios performance.
Hopefully you had a somewhat good idea of how your previous radio/signal would perform in areas you frequent regularly, so you'll be better able to determine whether, over the course of several days, your signal appears more or less jumpy, stronger/weaker in those familiar areas.
Also, at least when editing the build.prop file, and perhaps when when flashing radios/RILs, as it's related, I've seen it recommended to reboot not once, but *twice*, after flashing. Apparently something needs that second reboot to "kick in."
Like I said, I'm not quite sure if the reboot twice thing necessarily applies to radios/RILs, but I do it twice, just in case.
It certainly can't hurt...

Will do, thanks for suggestion and your time. Excited to learn about these things.

No problem.
Just don't slack on checking them MD5's, first, whatever it is.

[ROM][BUILD 4][24/12/2011] Unofficial Oxygen 2.3.2 port for the Desire HD/Inspire 4G

OXYGEN FOR THE DESIRE HD/INSPIRE 4G - SLEEK AND FAST (UNOFFICIAL)
This is basically a mix of some CyanogenMod commits and device files that have been merged to the Oxygen tree, so all credits go to them. It is very fast! See for yourself..
Oxygen is based on AOSP and very lightweight. It incorporates several fixes and additions from other ROMs. I find it to be a good balance between AOSP and patches.
The last Build (4) has undergone enough testing to say that it is very stable. Battery life is reported to be very good!
This is not a binary port! It is the Oxygen tree compiled for the HTC Ace!
Code:
CHANGELOG:
BUILD 4:
- Add "Hide Hold Button" to call settings as requested
BUILD 3:
- Fix sound on the Inspire 4G
BUILD 2:
- Fix battery drain
- Fix video overlay and YouTube
- Fix camera
BUILD 1:
- Initial Release
BUGREPORTS ARE HIGHLY APPRECIATED
Flash with CWM. Google Apps are included (which is probably going to change in the near future). Do a full wipe!
The rest should be fine, but I didn't have the time to test the build very thoroughly.
Again, feedback is appreciated! Thanks!
Download
Enjoy!
I don't think you will fix batt drain without Cyanogen's libaudio files for ace
Edit:
Just noticed it's you hrkfdn.. Well, you should know the stuff

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the significance of oxygen? I mean is it the name of your ROM or does it inherently mean something like ice cream sandwich?

It's the Roms name, which is based on Gingerbread 2.3.7.
The name suggests purity, as AdamG the Original developer always built Clean Aosp from source, and broke away from Cyanogenmod and similar builds.

I can also test for Inspire. Let me know when you fix the sound.

Really the only difference between this and the other 3.32 firmware is the radio (11.69A), and I've included the rcdata.img which will set you to dish 2. I really cannot say if there are variances between the other files.
The main reason I posted this is for TMOUS users who are looking to upgrade using Steve0007's ROM. Many of them were confused and didn't know what all they needed to flash for firmware...
Quick question, and plz correct me if im wrong, but I just flashed this and if it's a newer firm ware, why does it have an older radio and not the newer one or brand new one altogether?

Keep in mind, the other radios were from international RUU's...for the most part.
Tmo must think this radio is best for the USA. That's my guess at least...
As far as radios go...newer is not necessarily better. What works best in your region is better
I'm about to give this a try and see if there is any noticeable data speed/reception increase. I'm in Portland, OR... We shall see
My experience with different radios has usually been negligible.

Yeah that makes sense..I have better data and reception with the 11.72 radio tho, however, I'll try this one again for a couple days and test it out..I travel cross country so I just need an all around radio that gives me the least signal drops

Wow!!!! I am a tmous user and I am so glad the tmo firmware for my phone finally arrived! I was getting crappy reception and data speeds and after flashing this its a 100% turn around. I'm getting up to 800kbs in a Rom download right now
Could I be crazy or is it possible that my battery life has improved significantly as well? I am kinda ocd about watching the percentage. Since flashing this and monitoring my battery, I finally have what I would consider "normal" battery drain

{ROMS}{closed}SS_Ace_Ultra v2/ NS_Ace_Ultra v3 {Sense/No Sense}

I originally built these two Rom's for a friend of mine. But I thought ide share them. The builds are based off my Evo 4g builds. The idea was to keep it stock, simple and fast, but rebuild it like HTC should have. Reliable with solid performance. So here it is the Inspire_Ultra line. Stock base with a lot of Voodoo magic and tweaks. Feel free to use any of my Rom's as your base. Just remember to give a [link] back to the tread, and some props.

Looks good blaz1nr, I've seen this over on the EVO OG and can honestly say I'm glad to have it on the Inspire
You can always wipe just once. If you have ever owned an evo you'll find left over data sometimes after a fresh install. So I always recommend 3x wipes to make sure your phone is cleaned all the way, before install.

I did flash your no sense version when you first opened your thread, ran it for about ten minutes cause I was kinda lazy to reconfigure everything. It did seem nice, a bit laggy, but then again, it was automatically downloading all my apps. I forgot to check, what android version is it?

Both Roms now data app enabled. Xloud volumes have already been lowered, can be adjusted in dsp manager. Beats now native. On NS. Go launcher is slow at first it needs to build cache. Once it boots fully, just reboot and it speeds up.
This is much better in new version.
Mms issue on SS will be handled, by Handcent as native mms. It's just way better. And works flawlessly.
New Roms will be up soon,I still need to fix a few more things.

This is very interesting, hopefully someone can shed some light on this. That would be awesome if it was a working ICS build, but for some reason part of me thinks this is just an ICS-Like ROM. I'm hoping though!

Its a great rom. Very polished. They have nightly builds which r248 is the latest and it is the most stable. They also have test builds which were updated to the .19 base, however I personally had a few issues with those. Development should be continuing on the rom soon.

What are the right settings to get Eternity smooth? After three hours playing with it I managed to download some of my apps (titanium isn't working on the rom for some reason) and... Well, it is by far the laggiest/ slowest ROM I've dealt with. Do I need to oc my kernel higher?

What version are you running? If you're on r248 flash imos 5.2 kernel. Run the speed tweak script in terminal and set it up in normal mode (that's what I do). It's oc is 1.4ghz and undervolted to save battery. Change the governor to smartassv2 and change the scheduler to sio. Also, DONT RESTORE SYSYTEM APPS WITH TITANIUM BACKUP. I don't know if you did but that will screw things up. Make sure before you flash to super wipe and use 4ext recovery for flashing. Eternity isn't a laggy rom for me but you may consider using a different launcher instead of rosie.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Oh I know not to restore system apps with titanium. I'm not always the brightest... But at least that i know =)
Rosie... Yeah, I'm starting to get Rosie crashes after web browsing. Was hoping I wouldn't need to drop it, but oh well. Such is life.
Thanks for the kernel suggestions =) I appreciate it!

this is NOT ICS
This is a really bloated rom with beats audio added and lots of other apps nobody wants or uses with sense UI. While it is a great rom, it is far from ICS in every respect I promise.

[ROM] [ERA] CM7+Nexus S 4G Modems=faster internet speeds and Update PRL/Profile

This is a CM7 build I compiled from the EpicCM and CyanogenMod team's sources, but I modified the device, kernel, and vendor sources so we can use the Nexus S 4G modems, so we can have faster Internet and so we can update PRL and profile. My kernel sources are at https://github.com/xboxfanj/android_kernel_samsung_victory
You must flash this modem in Odin/Heimdall in order for Call/Text/Data to work, doesn't matter if you flash before or after you flash the ROM
http://marcusant.com/android/epic/modem.bin
Link:
http://darkierawr.com/Android/Users/xboxfanj/cm-7-20120828-UNOFFICIAL-epicmtd.zip
This build has fixed audio, voodoo color and sound, and battery life extender.
MD5:
93ba57b183e9b6a62a7240bee47876d2
Note: You must flash back to a regular Epic modem if you change ROMs to nearly any other one (besides my Sense ROMs or any other ROM that uses the Nexus modem (none at the time of this writing))
Working:
Everything that is working in the other CM7 builds (should be everything)
Thanks to the EpicCM/CyanogenMod Team for making most of the sources I based on.
Thanks to bbelos and I for patching in support for Nexus modems and PRL and profile updates.
Thanks to Darkierawr, marcusant, and eigerzoom for hosting
Anyone is welcome to build off this, but please make sure to credit me, bbelos, and the CM Team.
I plan on making CM9/10 builds with this modem and PRL/Profile update support later on.

Samsung is known to make bad modems/ril, and since Google made the one we're using, it should be better. That is why the GS3 gets worse data speeds than the EvoLTE. The hardware in that area is the same, so it means Samsung didn't do as well on that as HTC. GPS may be better too, since I changed that file to match the modem.

Interesting...I will try this a little later

Nice! I was considering trying this, but my apprehension about messing up my primary device kept me at bay... I feel safer using an xboxfanj build, anyway
Can you share the md5sums in case we run into problems? I'm going to take the leap either way (with Heimdall on standby just in case), but md5sum verifications always make me feel at ease
Thanks for providing us with another awesome mod - hopefully I will be reporting success within the hour

The MD5 is now in the OP.
Still not working for me: Led notifications, capacitive lights disabling, bightness adjusting.

Think I found the fix for that. Making a build now... let me know if those things work in it.

I was wondering about the cap light disable ever since Tortel1210 said (after the latest stable official CM7 release) that it just wasn't going to happen because he'd given up on figuring it out... I was like, "But it works on the official build I'm currently using... did I miss something?" I will try to find his post in the official CM7 thread, in case I'm crossing my wires on that...
Anyway, so far, so good on my end - I can confirm the issues mentioned by darkjje, but the important thing is that my data connection is the best it has ever been (I no longer have to use wifi at my home in the boonies, lol). Can't wait for those small fixes to top off the package, but I'm pleased so far - thanks again, xboxfanj!

Ya I remember his post. I think it was along the lines of how its done it won't be merged in to the official and will have to be cherrypicked if people want it in... or something like that.

Your memory is more clear than mine
I found the post here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29856942
You summed it up fairly accurately... thankfully, it would appear the xboxfanj took the time to merge the fix in his build
(Well, his previous builds... and it seems like a safe guess that it will be in the next one as well)

I just added his java file to the frameworks, so we'll see if that fixes everything.

Yeah, saw that when I looked at the github, and that is what I'm assuming will fix everything.

He mentioned overlaying java files - I'm not sure I understand what he meant by that... my guess is that it has to do with merging additional code into an existing java file, but I've been wrong before ::gasp!::
I trust that you can figure it out, though, and now that I've heimdalled the modem I'm committed to testing (it's a quick enough process to switch back, but not as convenient as CWM flashing - laziness wins, lol)

So is there a new build in the link in the OP?

Patience, grasshopper. He will let us know when it is up.
True that:
Patience is virtuous. Thanks, X!
Normal Gapps for CM7 will work, right?
