HTC Sensation problem? - HTC Sensation

Okay this is really not big deal, but just though I'd tell you guys and ask y'all have the same thing on your sesation phone
When I press the screen hard, but not like its going to damage the screen, when I do, the screen or the back cover casing don't seem to be tight enough that its like loose.
Anyone here has this going on their sensation?

It's not even that. I know what he's talking about. Say you hold the phone and squeeze it slightly, it'll have a little give to it & will creak. Mine does the same thing. It's my only annoyance with the phone.

that's about the only thing that'll work. My guess is the extra room is there in case the battery expands for some odd reason. I just block it out of my mind & scream LALALLALALALALALA when it happens.

They made the battery cover just a little higher than the battery because after years of using your phone and charging your battery, the battery begins to expand. Its to accommodate the expansion of the battery after a year or so of using your phone. Be happy to hear it!

Are you sure? It would have to expand quite a bit.
I've put a piece of paper in mine for now, fixes the problem nicely and doesn't affect signal or wifi strength (I was worried it might).
It's a bit ridiculous but I rarely remove the back.

I have it too, not too concerned about it or anything though.

You can leave the paper in it for now, but ever 4-5 months or so, pull out the battery and spin it on a flat surface, if it spins, your battery is swelling, which usually comes with age. I'd say after about 1 1/2 years you can buy a new battery if you really need to, but for now, your good!

I'll keep that in mind for the future then, interesting.

Yup I have the issue also. Actually after reading this thread, I wouldn't say its an issue but perhaps a manufacture glitch. Guess we just have to deal with it.

Had this issue with my sensation. When I pressed the bottom right of the screen it creaked and clicked like there was a gap or the battery cover wasn't on the whole way. Funny thing was this started a couple days after having the phone and didn't do this at first. Just exchanged today and new one has no probs atm

Actually for me, the only creaking sound I hear is when I press the buttons on the bottom, especially the home button. But I have to press it kinda hard and towards the bottom left.

I have the black gel skin on mine and I don't have any creaking. That's an option too if you like gel skins. I have to have one. Too worried I'll drop this gorgeous phone.

Dust Under the Screen

Well, guess what? My MT4G is about five hours old and there is already a spec of dust under the screen. On the phone with T-Mobile right now to do a swap. Why can't HTC figure out this dust issue? How hard is it to glue a phone together?
Update: T-Mobile had no problem swapping it for a brand new device because it was so new. Even after that dust under the screen is covered under the one year warranty.
I would just return it, I doubt that many have this problem.

A new one is on the way. I'm hoping this is not like my Nexus. Either way, that's what warranties are for.

Are we talking about extended warranty here? If so, sorry to burst your bubble, but the regular one year manufacturer's warranty will cover this also -- without having to shell out that extra $6 a month
I had grey specks under my screen and I made her the exchange the phone.. the sales girl (a teen ager!) said she didnt see anything, but when I showed it to her in the sun she said "I would never notice that" (like I as being anal! LOL!)
It was the WHITE version...
I've seen other reports of this too. Best to inspect well upon receipt or in store before leaving.
Mine appears to have an issue with the FFC - it looks to be off center to the right. Works fine, but a QC issue for a phone the caliber of this and not impressive for HTC.

I had a single spec of dust under the screen, upper left corner. the girl in the store saw it as soon as I showed a white screen. exchanged it for a new one right in the store, no questions asked.
manufacturing defect? I guess. hope the screen doesn't have some gap that allows in lint because I carry the thing in my pocket all the time.
yep...got a mytouch 4g/hd today aswell. didnt get a chance to play with it until now, about 6 hours later. Smack dab in the middle was what i thought was a dead pixel. upon further inspection its a particle of dust or whatever. super super annoying. i have to exchange the phone and hope this one doesnt have this problem.
any way of removing this foreign particle w/o voiding anything?

I got my mt4g yesterday. First thing I did was look for dust under the screen. Had another mt4g on the way within an hour of getting my first one. The bad part is I got my phone direct from Tmobile so I have to wait for it to arrive. On the brightside they did free express this time.
Anyone got any images showing this? I dont see anything on mine but its only a few hours old and I got it late at night and I'm so tired I'm not even inspecting it that much at the moment. Will go over it tomorrow.
i use to work on LCDs. Basically the clean room wasn't that clean when they were putting on the polarized layer. There is not anything practical you can do to fix it.
Anyone know who the OEM for the LCDs are?

No this is a QC issue. There are gaps between the metal bezel that surrounds the glass and the rubbery material that covers up the sides of the phone. The dust/lint that got under my screen was definitely from the device being in my pocket.
I solved this by getting a nice case from T-Mo ($35 but it's sexy) to cover the exposed area. Haven't had a problem since.
I was going to get a mytouch 4g to play with until the nexus s came out. I played with one at t-mobile store and nothing really impressed me. After reading the mytouch 4g thread it sounds like HTC is still making crappy phones. Sounds like the same N1 issues all over again. We used hairdryer to heat up the glass then press the screen back down. I had to do this will all three of my N1's.

I have the tiniest, most annoying lint particle underneath my screen. As of now it is located far left. Seems as if it could make its way to smack dab in the center of my screen though. Kinda sucks but its so tiny you only notice it in full contrast to a white background if you really focus.
a single grey speck of dust in the top right corner, near the clock. Thought it was a dead pixel, but its there even when the phone is off. can only see it if I look really hard into that spot

[Q] Build Quality

Hello NS Owners,
Does your NS squeek when you apply slight pressure on the plastic at the side of the volume rocker?
Mine does and it annoys mei! For €470 it should be a solid build. I'm just wondering if I got a bad one or are they all like this. I don't really want to stuff it with paper!
Thanks
Nope. I've had two, neither squeeked.

Look man, this is what you get with Samsung. You cant expect a solid build when 95% of their hardware is plastic. HTC or Apple on the other hand, they reason why their phones have such good build quality is because they're made out of solid metal (typically aluminum) and glass. Yeah, my volume buttons are wiggly and squeaky if i push them against the plastic bezel too. I have learned to live with it. It's just how Samsung works.
Thanks
Okay thank you both for your input. I think I will contact Samsung. Even if they won't do anything for me, at least they might take note of the complaint.

Better than nothing for sure, but all in all, I hope they don't make the next Nexus phone... :/
Mines doesn't squeak. I think it probably would eventually if you keep removing the battery cover. I try not to remove mines.
I honestly do not have a problem with the plastic build because its light and I love to lay down in bed holding my phone over my face. My old myTouch 4g had superb build quality, but was just too heavy to hold for long periods.

Funny, I've owned 2, and they both of them had buttons that squeaked/rattled. But like another user said, I put a case on them, and it doesn't squeak any more - the case puts just enough tension on them to keep them from rattling in place.

I'm very happy that you have so much money. If ever you feel the need to make your pockets a bit lighter then I'll gladly help you out.
And to everyone else:
It's not the buttons that squeak. It's where the back cover "touches" the buttons. It's almost like the back cover isn't clipping on properly so it moves a little bit and then it squeaks. I've tried using a silicon cover but that had no effect... I wish that they used the Samsung Wave design for the Nexus S. That phone was solid as a rock.

Build quality

I'm an HTC fan but this device truly has the worst build quality for a 300$ device. Unacceptable...
Light leakage
Bottom strip adhesive not great
Kickstand located incorrectly
I just played on an Inc2... That is constructed much better... It feels tight, just better physically... This one seems to have been a shoddy job. If it was not for the fact that its rootable and the only lte phone available, it was going back.

No complaints here. Kickstand works as it should (I will admit it would be nice to be able to charge it while in the kick stand, but the charge port is actually in a pretty ideal location). I really like the soft back of the phone. I keep this thing in my pocket basically 24/7 and there isn't even the *slightest hint* of a scratch anywhere on the screen. I do see the light leakage if you're holding the phone at a certain angle with the buttons lit up...but why would you ever hold the phone at such an angle to begin with?

Agreed. The Nexus One set the standard for well built HTC devices. The TB isn't bad, just not as solid as it could have been.

Yeah the construction of the thunderbolt definately could of been ALOT better for the cost of the device. Hell my first 2 bolts the screen was popped out from the frame, and would press down like the BB storm. The side frame near the volume rocker squeaks when you press it (most tbolts do this). The kickstand has been great so far, would be nice if they put the charging port in a different location so you can charge and watch videos landscape mode. Large pieces of debris under the screen visable even under low light conditions. The bleeding can be annoying, but barely visable at times (I know some are worse than others). The Tbolt overall is a good phone, but the build felt kinda rushed and isn't really the prime example of quality from HT.
My Light Leakage was so bad I had it Exchanged plus Really sunken Power Button. My Exchanged one is now Almost Perfect with no leakage. Its a Hit in miss I Guess, Which Sucks.
Brilliant!

I have those problems plus a very badly sinking power button. It's almost to the point where it's unusable. Sometime you have to hit it with your fingernail. VZW won't give me a replacement though since it still technically works...
No problems so far with the power button on mine and otherwise a pretty solid quality phone, though not as carved-from-iron feeling as the Droid X was. That one's my gold standard.

My aria and incredible had cases the squeaked when you grabbed them, and they felt cheap because they were so light
The incredible had a plasticy glass on it that bugged me because you could feel it bend at your fingertip

Starting to hate this phone build quality...

On my second one it continually manages to get huge specs of dirt under the screen.
The screen its self is starting to become unglued, when I press certain parts of the screen I can feel it lift and raise.
The most outer part of the camera glass wiggles when I put my finger on it.
I've already replaced it once due to a dead pixel, what do I do now?

Beyond that, I've dropped this phone from about 2-3 feet onto concrete or stone 3-4 times and I don't have anything more than a few superficial dings on the corners, and a small chip in the screen at the bottom (it doesn't hamper performance in any way imaginable so I don't care). I do hate the battery door. THAT was a horrible design flaw.

screen loose ?

hi everyone, i have a quick question.
i noticed yesterday that my screen was starting to come loose on the top corner of my phone, i could push it back in and within 10 min it was back out. (this also happened on my htc inspire)
i returned the phone to at&t and my new one is more solid but i do notice that it does push in the bezel a tiny bit also on all corners and sides.
do i have another bad phone? is anyone else seeing this with there phone?
thx for the help
it flexes a bit with light pressure, but if the problem is severe or impedes the use of the phone, then return/exchange it.
my first phone was fine at first but then the right corner popped out about a 16th of an inch from the back case and the other side was fine. the phone was still fine to use though.
i am wondering if the tiny bit of flex around the edge is normal or if mine will eventually work loose again.
Mine is a bit creaky around the top and bottom but I dont think it is worth taking back for
I exchanged my first HOX because of this. It started in one corner and then quickly spread to three.

Ironically, this is how you take the phone apart.

the screen is coming off the black metal bezel, don't you remove the bezel and screen as one piece when removing the back casing?
i guess if it does happen again i can just peel off the screen and glue it back down to the metal casing.

The one X is taken apart by popping the entire device out of the unibody plastic The screen is actually screwed down onto the phone

If only I knew then what I know now...
You really wouldn't want to put glue on your phone .. I would make at&t take it back and give you a replacement

actually the glass and the lcd are glued to the metal casing inside. the mainboards are screwed to the other side of the metal casing. as seen in the video.

i'v done this to my old inspire already (same issue). you would do this if you replaced a broken screen. i fear if i return it to at&t again i will just get another unit with the same problems like before. i think alot of htc phones have this issue but most people are not as anal as i am and do not notice

I'm actually very happy with my current HOX so it was all worth it lol
I guess there are many who have never had issues with the glass , or hell anything for that matter .. I'm included... You could take it back and give your replacement a good test while still in store , and if you glue your phone and something else happens to go wrong ... Good luck trying to explain that
