hi everyone, i have a quick question.
i noticed yesterday that my screen was starting to come loose on the top corner of my phone, i could push it back in and within 10 min it was back out. (this also happened on my htc inspire)
i returned the phone to at&t and my new one is more solid but i do notice that it does push in the bezel a tiny bit also on all corners and sides.
do i have another bad phone? is anyone else seeing this with there phone?
thx for the help
it flexes a bit with light pressure, but if the problem is severe or impedes the use of the phone, then return/exchange it.
my first phone was fine at first but then the right corner popped out about a 16th of an inch from the back case and the other side was fine. the phone was still fine to use though.
i am wondering if the tiny bit of flex around the edge is normal or if mine will eventually work loose again.
Mine is a bit creaky around the top and bottom but I dont think it is worth taking back for
I exchanged my first HOX because of this. It started in one corner and then quickly spread to three.

how is the new one does the screen push in at all around the edges? my new one does slightly also do you mind letting me know what rev the build is. min is rev.2 on my box label.
thx
New one is rock solid. That rev2 is most likely just the packaging. The different hardware versions are HT23, HT24, etc... Mine is an HT24.

the screen is coming off the black metal bezel, don't you remove the bezel and screen as one piece when removing the back casing?
i guess if it does happen again i can just peel off the screen and glue it back down to the metal casing.

The one X is taken apart by popping the entire device out of the unibody plastic The screen is actually screwed down onto the phone

i'v done this to my old inspire already (same issue). you would do this if you replaced a broken screen. i fear if i return it to at&t again i will just get another unit with the same problems like before. i think alot of htc phones have this issue but most people are not as anal as i am and do not notice

I guess there are many who have never had issues with the glass , or hell anything for that matter .. I'm included... You could take it back and give your replacement a good test while still in store , and if you glue your phone and something else happens to go wrong ... Good luck trying to explain that

Well, guess what? My MT4G is about five hours old and there is already a spec of dust under the screen. On the phone with T-Mobile right now to do a swap. Why can't HTC figure out this dust issue? How hard is it to glue a phone together?
Update: T-Mobile had no problem swapping it for a brand new device because it was so new. Even after that dust under the screen is covered under the one year warranty.
I would just return it, I doubt that many have this problem.

A new one is on the way. I'm hoping this is not like my Nexus. Either way, that's what warranties are for.

Are we talking about extended warranty here? If so, sorry to burst your bubble, but the regular one year manufacturer's warranty will cover this also -- without having to shell out that extra $6 a month
I had grey specks under my screen and I made her the exchange the phone.. the sales girl (a teen ager!) said she didnt see anything, but when I showed it to her in the sun she said "I would never notice that" (like I as being anal! LOL!)
It was the WHITE version...
I've seen other reports of this too. Best to inspect well upon receipt or in store before leaving.
Mine appears to have an issue with the FFC - it looks to be off center to the right. Works fine, but a QC issue for a phone the caliber of this and not impressive for HTC.

I had a single spec of dust under the screen, upper left corner. the girl in the store saw it as soon as I showed a white screen. exchanged it for a new one right in the store, no questions asked.
manufacturing defect? I guess. hope the screen doesn't have some gap that allows in lint because I carry the thing in my pocket all the time.
yep...got a mytouch 4g/hd today aswell. didnt get a chance to play with it until now, about 6 hours later. Smack dab in the middle was what i thought was a dead pixel. upon further inspection its a particle of dust or whatever. super super annoying. i have to exchange the phone and hope this one doesnt have this problem.
any way of removing this foreign particle w/o voiding anything?

Mine is the same, but it doesn't bother me.
I got my mt4g yesterday. First thing I did was look for dust under the screen. Had another mt4g on the way within an hour of getting my first one. The bad part is I got my phone direct from Tmobile so I have to wait for it to arrive. On the brightside they did free express this time.
Anyone got any images showing this? I dont see anything on mine but its only a few hours old and I got it late at night and I'm so tired I'm not even inspecting it that much at the moment. Will go over it tomorrow.
i use to work on LCDs. Basically the clean room wasn't that clean when they were putting on the polarized layer. There is not anything practical you can do to fix it.
Anyone know who the OEM for the LCDs are?

No this is a QC issue. There are gaps between the metal bezel that surrounds the glass and the rubbery material that covers up the sides of the phone. The dust/lint that got under my screen was definitely from the device being in my pocket.
I solved this by getting a nice case from T-Mo ($35 but it's sexy) to cover the exposed area. Haven't had a problem since.
I was going to get a mytouch 4g to play with until the nexus s came out. I played with one at t-mobile store and nothing really impressed me. After reading the mytouch 4g thread it sounds like HTC is still making crappy phones. Sounds like the same N1 issues all over again. We used hairdryer to heat up the glass then press the screen back down. I had to do this will all three of my N1's.

Crappy phone? It's one of the best Android phones out right now. There are a FEW people having issues. Happens with every cell. Guess the MT4G isn't for you. I'm loving it!

I have the tiniest, most annoying lint particle underneath my screen. As of now it is located far left. Seems as if it could make its way to smack dab in the center of my screen though. Kinda sucks but its so tiny you only notice it in full contrast to a white background if you really focus.
a single grey speck of dust in the top right corner, near the clock. Thought it was a dead pixel, but its there even when the phone is off. can only see it if I look really hard into that spot
Hi, Guys I have had this phone for a few days and I am loving it so far.
Today I noticed something very weird and I am a little concerned.
I was taking off my original HTC case and I saw that the bottom of the phone and the screen there was a big gap. I was shocked at first because I had never seen it before and I saw big led's on the bottom.
It Looks normal now but I can literally recreate it back if I push the bottom and the screen will separate from one another creating a big gap where I can actually see the led's. I mean once I push it back I have to recreate it for it to happen but other than that it looks normal and there is no light leakage once the push the bottom back on.
Here are the two pictures.
One where the bottom comes off if I push it a little and it could easily happen when I take off the case showing the gree led,
and the second one where I pushed the bottom back up and it looks normal.
https://www.box.com/s/05c56f37bdab763006a7
Yeah.. it probably shouldn't do that Might as well see about getting it replaced before your warranty is up.
Yea I sent amazon an email already, it is cool otherwise, If I don't push too hard or take the case off too hard it wont happen but it literally separates if I push little too hard. Otherwise normal usage it is fine and like now there is no light leakage or anything no one would be able to tell that happens unless they put pressure on the bottom edge.
Yep just took mine back for that same issue. I could pop the bottom of the LCD out from the housing and snap it back in. They exchanged it. Oddly enough my replacement I can still see a very slight gap but the screen doesn't move like it did on my other one. I'm worried about moisture getting in there. Might have to return this one as well
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Yea I am.just glad that it only happens when pushed. I already sent amazon an email and they are pretty good about advance replacement. I mean I would have never noticed it if I didn't push the case too hard to take it off from the bottom. Like now it is perfect lol.

i do believe this is how the access the innards of the phone. To reach the battery etc the screen pops off. It appears that yours was not properly fitted.
My AT&T One X started separating on the bottom left corner this weekend. I am going to call my local corp. store this morning and see if they have any in stock so I can go get a replacement.
..Gromet
Both my wife's and my phone do this as well. Noticed it a week ago, when taking off case.
It would be nice to know if this a defect or just the way most phones are. I mean it's perfect unless you push down hard to take off the case from the bottom.

When I had a Vivid, it did the same thing near the volume rocker. The border of the phone began separating from the screen. I just pushed in on it and it snapped back into place, but it's still a bit concerning.
I pop the case off of my One X every week to clean out debris, and I haven't noticed it separating yet. (official HTC case)

I posted this last weekend about my phone doing the exact same thing, though I still havent gotten around to posting pictures. I am just going to refer to yours since they show the same thing. My is doing this on the sides rather than the top or bottom, but it is slowly spreading.
Annoyed because AT&T still doesnt have stock...
I was reading some of the international One X forums - it sounds like about 1 out of 4 have similar build issues on the intl' version. I was hoping they would have their ish together before the US release...
I ordered mine from amazon and they have already shipped me a replacement. I will update on how it goes. Hopefully not the same issue.

Lucky! I called around and no stores in the area have them in stock.
Hmm...
The gap might be there due to constant handling/movement or swapping covers/cases. I mean, look at this youtube video regarding how the HTC One X can be taken apart for repairs. Notice how the phone is worked from that bottom edge, exposing the screen, before it snaps open. I don't currently have a HOX or else I'd test it first hand, but could this be a cause of the gap? or maybe it just a factory defect in some instances?
It could be. If my second one does that than I think it might be that way to open it up. Mine is fine right and looks new. But can snap it open with ease. If someone had given it to me like this I probably would not have known.

In that video it looks like the part she separates is the metal frame/bezel+screen from the polycarb shell. Our issue is the screen itself is coming unglued from the metal frame/bezel. It appears to be a quality control issue in a small percentage of them.
That video is very similar to how mine would come off. I would have to push really hard to open up like that but small bump does make it obvious how u would take it apart.

I had a gap in the bottom right corner where i could see some shiny material . The screen at that end was also slightly raised.
Asked amazon about it and they sent me a new one.
This one too is not perfect as there is still a slight gap between the body and the screen, again at the bottom right. But i guess i am going to keep this one.
waiting for my case.
OFFTOPIC : Why hasnt OP changed his launcher as yet! I feel the sense launcher looks less refined and spoils the beauty of the One X screen
Got the replacement phone, it doesn't do that. But damn this phone is all pink instead of white on the screen. I can clearly see the whites are not white on this phone. I am thinking about just keeping the original phone since it is always like new unless i force the housing to open. It never just happens, I have to make it happen, but other than that phone is like new and the screen is way more beautiful than the replacement phone. I think the one I got is using a different screen than the original.
The plastic ring around the camera is making a creaking noise. My first one had the same issue along with creaky ear piece grill. So I exchanged it and amazon sent me a second one. After a while the second phone seems to have the same issue.
Just wondering how everybody else's phones are holding up. It's really annoying sometimes and I really don't want to exchange this for a third piece and then slowly have the same issue on that one too.

First of all I think the ring is aluminum. Also the way the device has been manufactured, it will have some creaks. Still a very sturdy phone. If you'd like, you can take it apart and reglue it back together with gorilla glue and it may solve the creaks
Please don't use gorilla glue on your phone... It foams up brown.

This phone literally snaps into the plastic unibody. I'm not going to worry about the noises. (I hope)
Mine has the same issue with the creaking noise along the very top of the ring. I've considered the opposite of glue: a drop of gun lube along the edge so i don't hear it anymore. I just haven't been bothered enough to try it.

Hi all
Haven't noticed any issues with my One XL until tonight and want to know if this is normal or if I should exchange as I am within 30 days.
When I push down on the left bottom, right bottom, and right top corners of the screen there is no play/movement. When I push down on the left top corner, there is a definite give. Is this normal?

I've had my One X for 3 days. No play on the screen, but I noticed today there is a crack or scratch in the LCD under the glass. I don't know how else to describe it, it looks just like a scratch, but I can see the glass is smooth and glossy at that place. At first I thought it was dead pixels, but it changes color based on angle. I was really hoping for HTCs flagship phone to last me at least a week without defects.

I will have to try to exchange it. But, I only got it after receiving two doa replacement GS IIs. Plus the phone is awful if it comes with 2.2 pre-installed. I don't know if I want to roll the dice and risk getting one with 2.2 on it.
And I spoke too soon, mine does have play on the screen in the center at the top, right on the at&t logo.

Just took a further look at my screen. It looks like the top left part of the screen is raised ever so slightly above the tiny screen bezel around the screen. All the other parts of the screen are flush with that small bezel. Does this make sense?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I think this is going to be very common with the one x's because of its unibody shell. The indented snaps that hold the phone inside the unibody go along the top bottom and both sides. HTC should of also had the snaps in the corners which would have eliminated the issue.
Yeah it's not a big deal. I might exchange it once, but other than that I'm not about to go OCD like some people here.

Mine does this in the bottom left hand corner. It makes the screen have a faint orange circle in that corner unless I apply pressure on that corner and it will fade for a few minutes before coming back. I've been debating whether I should bring mine in for a replacement but I'm worried I'll get stuck with 2.2

Hey,
For all of you that own a white HOX, have you experienced the matte white finish on the back of the device gradually wearing away near the bottom corners (or wherever you most often hold it from) and losing its characteristic grippy matte-ness, becoming slightly shiny and smooth?
I'm concerned about the long term consequences of using the HOX without a case (although i use a case) as the bottom right area of my phone has lost some of its matte texture, become smooth white.
I don't have a problem with the white finish on mine. The only problem I have is the SN, IMEI, and SKU sticker coming off from sliding it in and out of my pocket.

I don't have that problem. I mean, I have the glamour grey one, but I digress...
Does anyone have a problem with the screen flaking? I guess it's the anti glare coating on the beveled edge for me is flaking off. I can't understand it because it's been in a case the entire time i've had it. Of course I can't call up warranty since i've rooted and unlocked my bootloader. This sort of software modding thing though shouldn't void a defect warranty.

I've had mine since around the beginning of April. As of right now, the wearing away has been pretty minor, and is distinctly noticeable in direct light, and appears around the bottom edge, near the corners, as that is where I most commonly hold my phone from.
I actually have a case on right now, but noticing this slight wear-away concerned me (which further convinced me to keep a case on), but wasn't sure whether or not it would keep wearing away.
I would describe it as... a smoothing out of the matte finish, kind of the way it looks if it gets a little oily. The affected areas are more reflective and 'shiny' , but not truly smooth like the finish on the GS3
Again, it's not major, but just something I was wondering about.
This is common in plastic items if you look at a well used mouse or keyboard over time the most struck areas will smooth out lucky the hox is mad of inject molded plastic so the white one is solid white so it wont "rub" off it will just show polish like brass over time.
My grey one did that after about 2 months. Two spots about the size of a dime on the back, where it would touch when set down. They polished to a shiny slippery finish. Haven't used a case at all.
Sent from my Note II
Yeah, mines getting shiny on the corners, and my screen has some barely perceptible scratches on it. I'm not too worried at the moment though, I'm going to warranty swap due to a bright spot on my screen.
