[Q] Slight Problem - HTC Inspire 4G

I want to buy an Inspire 4G, and i'm from Romania.
I would like to use it in the Orange Romania network. But someone pointed out that i most certainly cannot use the 3G and 4G functions of this phone in this network because of different frequencies.
How can i find out what frequencies the phone operates on for 3G and 4G and what frequencies my Romanian network operates on for the same services?
I haven't ordered the phone yet, but i will not order it if i can't use it in full swing. Can someone clarify the frequency and usage thing for me?
Thank you.

Is there a reason you don't want the Desire HD? Orange Romania uses 900/2100 for HSPA+ (3G/4G) and 1800 for GSM (2G), all included in the DHD. The DHD also has a front facing camera. With an Inspire you would only be able to use 1800 GSM.
I found all this with Google.
Sent from my Inspire using the dark side.

Yeah, it's 100$ more expensive and i can't afford it.
So my only chance for Romania is the Desire HD? No way i could get the Inspire working? How about the Motorola Defy?
If i buy this Motorola Defy: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280658487905&category=9355&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 can i use it at 100% in Romania?

The radios in the Defy would work on Orange in Romania. I don't know much about it but it has a smaller screen and uses motoblur.

[Q] HTC Desire Z coverage

hi guys im in need of a new phone and like the full qwerty keyboard ones, im from australia so i cant import any of the cdma ones from the us.
Im looking at getting a desire Z when it comes out but i cant wrap my head around the coverage frequencies and what it means.
i want to know how well/ which parts will work in australia, coverage wise?
the specs can be found on the europe htc site
thanks
*solved - i was confusing gsm 850mhz and 3g 850 mhz
as the phone doesnt have 850mhz 3g it will not work on the australian nextG network, but the 3g 2100mhz that is pretty well only in the major cities will work.
and gsm will work too.

Phone for Canada + Europe recommendations w/ 3G

I'm looking for some advice on what new phone to buy. Here is my situation. I would like to buy a phone that will work on the Bell network with 3G (high speed network) AND also work in Europe with 3G speeds.
I would prefer an Android device so it looks like i'm limited to the HTC Desire Z and the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant. But as far as i understand both of these phones don't have UMTS 2100 frequency to get 3G in Europe. Do I just suck it up and use EDGE in Europe or do something else?
What do you recommend?

How hard would it to have the Inspire on TMobile?

What would need to be done to have it on tmo. And would hspa+ and all that work?

I actually rooted my Inspire, loaded the Euro DHD ROM and tried it on T-Mobile this morning. It worked, but no 3G, much less 4G.
So what would need to be done to get that type of thing to work fully? Something with the baseband or something right?

It can't be done, the hardware is different, you won't get anything better that edge
i really need my inspire unlocked?
just wait a few months, the htc incredible S is supposed to coming to Tmobile and that device has same specs as the inspire except smaller screen and has FFC.
Unlock it and you're good to go! That is, if you don't care for 3G/4G
The Inspire's 3G radio is incompatible with the bands used by T-Mobile unfortunately
i want the big screen though lol. I have a g2 right now and I'm really just craving one of those huge screens. What about the Desire HD? would that work on TMO? or is there any other options out there?

your option is an hd2 on android
I don't get it. One of the reason I pick Inspire because it has the same 2G/3G band frequency like the Desire Z (G2). If Desire Z works then why not the Inspire?
Quote from GSMArena:
HTC Desire Z
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100, HSDPA 850 / 1900 - North America
HTC Inspire 4G
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900
Even the Incredible S is not 1700 band
HTC Incredible S
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100
The desire z looks like it does not work on t-mobile either. T-mobile needs 1700/2100 for 3g, which are not listed in the specs yet posted.
Can I use T-Mobile 3G devices on another carrier’s 3G networks?
You will not be able to roam with your T-Mobile 3G device on another carrier's 3G network. T-Mobile devices use the 1700Mhz/2100Mhz frequency band (for 3G) and it is specific to T-Mobile. You can however roam on another carrier's 1900Mhz frequency band using GSM. Likewise, another carrier’s 3G devices will not be able to roam on our 3G network.

yup basically, All you need to do is root the phone using either method. I tried it last night actually with my friends tmo sim. phone worked fine, except only edge service

But his question is specifically asking to use 3g on other carriers. Which the answer is no, even rooting won't help. It's a hardware limitation.
its something i have thought bout but why would you pay that much for a phone tht will only run on the Edge. Wait for the Pyramid to come out or get a Desire HD from ebay. its just the European version and has the bands ability. or like what has been mentioned before about the HD2 and load it with Android. Thats what Im using which is awesome becasue you can use the HSDPA speeds and 3G speeds and have that huge 4.3 inch display and still have a 1ghz snapdragon processor.. another awesome thing about it is that there is SOOO many roms you can load to customize your phone like if you wanted the basic Sense Rom like the inspire or the Evo there are plenty of roms for it, if yo wanted the MyTouch 4G rom then you can load it, if you wanted a Nexus Rom then you can load it, and its much faster with updates so you can even have Gingerbread already on your phone and they are even already gettting the bugs worked out of having Honeycomb on the good ole HD2. its overall a very under rated phone but thats because it had tons of issues with WinMo 6.5 but with ANdroid loaded on it I havent had problem one with it.. Im sure others have thier opinion but thats mine for it.. hopefully any info helps...

didn't you read the quote i replied too? i said nothing about being able to use 3g, infact, i said quite the opposite, i confirmed like others, 3g will not work. gotta love ppl who don't read what you actually posted.
Oh I missed the last statement of your post. It was tagged there at the end.
AT&T to Buy T-Mobile for $39 Billion USD
AT&T to Buy T-Mobile for $39 Billion USD
T-Mobile 3G (i think 4G also) Phones Will Require Replacement After AT&T Merger
SO buying this phone and unlocking it will give u a little while to use T-Mobiles services (maybe 2 years AT MOST) after that u will need an AT&T phone
but the trade off to being able to use T-Mobile for a while is that u will be at slower speeds for a while BEFORE AT&T destroys this grate service provider
can you say "Cingular" ?
so this is the best GSM phone as it will be merger proof !!
Internet settings?
hey guys i realize this is an older post but i rooted and unlocked my htc inspire and put in a Tmobile sim card and calls work fine and text messages too the phone automatically detected apn and everything but i cant get it to connect to the internet what should i do is there a way to set to 2g networks only? is that even required?
u will not get 3g on tmobile..ive tried

[Q] Will inspire's 4G work in Europe?

Hi everyone,
I'm currently in the USA for an internship and I'm tempted to buy an Inspire since it's so much cheaper than what it would cost back in the Netherlands. However I've searched a lot now and I can't figure this out.
Will the Inspire work on my network back in the Netherlands? I'm on T-mobile. I'm sure GSM will work and so on, but I would really like to know if 3G and even 4G will work back at home?
So, bottomline, buy or don't buy ?

Yes it will work but, if you want to use it on another gsm network in the Netherlands you will need to unlock it. I suggest you root it using the ace hack kit. I tested this method and I can say my phone is unlocked.
4G on the Inspire is HSDPA+ its just a upgraded 3g network. If your network in the Netherlands supports this you will have the same speeds or faster. Just check the freq for you home network with the inspire tech spec. I suspect it will work since its the same phone as the Desire HD sold in Europe.

Not if T-Mobile is your provider, T-Mobiles 3G/HSPA+ network uses different frequencies than the Inspire operates on. T-Mobile uses 1700/2100 for their 3G/HSPA+. ATT and the Inspire use 850/1900 (which T-Mobile uses for Edge). So with T-Mobile you'll get voice and Edge data, but no 3G/4G

T-Mobile in Europe uses different frequencies than T-Mobile in the US (probably 900MHz or 2100MHz), but regardless, the Inspire won't support them.

Good point. Looks like T-Mobile in the netherlands uses GSM1800 and WCDMA2100 - which won't give you high speed data on the Inspire
The Inspire does not suppprt 3g bands that are commonly used outside of north america, so while the phone will generally work, you can only get 2g (edge) data in Europe/Asia/etc..

[Q] USA to UK network

Hi, I live in the UK and I have just purchased a HTC Inspire from eBay.com
In the description the seller has stated that the device will take worldwide sim cards and should work with my O2 contract sim card.
The following is part of the description from the sellers page:
The Phone is Unlocked to all GSM networks and will work with any SIM card worldwide..But please note that 3G and 4G is only supported on AT&T (or any network that has the AT&T 3G Bands)
I'm just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and if they have had problems with things like - connecting to 3G, Wifi etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You will be able to talk and use mobile data anywhere there is GSM coverage. The only 3g band that O2 and the Incite share is 1900, so your 3g performance will be spotty at best. Wifi won't be a problem.

ye - I'd been looking for 1 on eBay.co.uk and also Gumtree for a while but the prices were just to much. (and I actually got scammed on 1 using Gumtree!)
So I decided to try eBay.com and found it cheaper
you will not be able to get 3G with the Inspire over there in UK. it only has 3G bands for ATT in the USA. so you will get old GSM, but not 3G.
