I can't seem to delete the default contacts such as #data, #min, etc from people using planejane mr2. I press hold and select delete which does not remove the entry. They even display when you go to view options and unselected all phone books. Google, Sim, Phone all display 0 contacts yet they are still around and won't delete.
Update: Just occurred to clear the data in people and that worked.
I have the same issue.... clearing the data doesn't seem to fix it though.

R1lover,
I wrote this up step by step as to what i did to fix the problem.
Here is what I did to delete the items:
1. Start Deleting the system's default contacts and after a few deletes Go to People --> View --> under options it displays how many are left in each book.
Keep deleting them all until you reach 0. It seems only the contacts with a little sim card wouldn't delete. You will be down to just a few contacts left and these are the ones that will not delete. Go back into People --> View --> under options verify there is 0 contacts even if a few still display it listed 0.
Go back to your home screen --> settings --> applications --> manage applications --> all -> open people. Hit the "Clear Data" button and then "Force Stop"

Probably another program overriding your selections. Try try going to Menu button on your phone and select Settings option, scroll down to the Applications section and tap it. On the next screen, tap Manage Applications and then the All tab on the subsequent screen, scroll down the list of apps until you see the App in question listed and tap that entry. On the next screen look for the "Launch by default" section and hit the Clear defaults button. Reboot and select the default program you want and see if it sticks on the next reboot. Let me know if this helps.

good logical advice, which you would assume would do the trick.
unfortunately, it doesn't fix the problem
i was wondering if there's a file somewhere whch can be edited & locked?
im not 100% sure where those things are saved, maybe in settings.db file of the android settings app.
Check your phones app directory, there should be something like
com.android.providers.settings and com.android.settings
I could imagine that the filepermissions are wrong on certain files and thus your new selection are not saved.
i've searched for hours with no success for a db file. i do believe you are on the right trac but it'll take a smarter mind than my own to highlight where the setting is hiding.
there is a lockscreen toggle option on the redux2 rom, so i've asked over there.
thank you both for your thoughts
Hey all,
So I have more than 1 Google account on my Galaxy S3 with Jelly Bean 4.1.1 on Verizon. I also have a Facebook account. This is a weird thing that happens, it never happened before. Please see if this happens on your phone. Under Contacts To Display-->Customized List, I make sure only the tick marks for specific groups under 1 Google account is checked off, ALL OTHER accounts and groups within accounts are not checked off. If I select Done, the contact list shows only those contacts. If I hit the Home button, and go back into Contacts, it's fine, however, if I hit the back arrow from that page to the home screen and go back into Contacts, it now shows all contacts, including the #Data #Payment, etc AND the groups I had not checked off to show. When I go into Contacts to Display, "All Contacts" is selected again. Why do my settings keep erasing? I'd like to be able to keep it on my customized settings at all times. I do not recall ICS nor Gingerbread doing this, is this an issue with JB? I have searched many forums, I see nothing about this anywhere.
**Appears to have been caused by Go Launcher. I uninstalled and testing, so far so good, customized settings stay, even after reboots**

If you use Viber, this might be very helpful for you!
Recently, I've discovered a little "trick" to bypass the Share Online Status.
If you use Viber, you might know that it can only be changed once every 24 hours. By doing a simple trick, it resets the setting.
In order to access the Share Online Status setting, follow the steps below:
1. Open Viber
2. Click on the Menu icon on the bottom right hand side.
3. Click on Settings
4. Click on Privacy
Now at the top, it should have a setting named 'Share Online Status', its enabled by default (users can see your online status). Once you untick the box, it will disable the setting and it will not allow you to change it back until the next day (24HR period)
This is how you can get away with this :
1. Close Viber
2. Go to Settings (on Android OS)
3. Go to Application Manager (or Apps in different Roms)
4. Scroll down to Viber and click on it
5. Wait until the Clear Data button enables (usually takes few seconds to enable)
6. Press on Clear Data button
***THIS WILL DELETE ALL YOUR CONVERSATIONS ON VIBER, THEREFORE DO NOT BLAME ME***
NOTE: It will also remove login data from the Viber application, so you will have to re-login (setup) on Viber application.
7. Press on OK to confirm (Clear Data)
8. Now open up Viber, it will ask you Continue and enter your mobile number to setup the account
9. Once you setup the account, go to Settings>Privacy
10. And now you can see that the Share Online Status setting is re enabled
Hope this helps :fingers-crossed:
You can also follow my video tutorial : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2cHbrMLexU
Or you could change the system date, change the online status preference and set the date back. That way you don't lose anything and you're not logged out. Just tried it and it seems to work well.
Tried using 11.0.10 (Aug security patch)
----
Go to Settings
Apps and Notifications
See all apps
Select menu at top right
Show system
Search for "settings suggestions"
Tap it to open
Storage, clear storage.
It works for me to remove the Pixel Suggestion, but in https://c.mi.com/thread-3275261-3-1.html forum, few users reported new popup 'Add Email Account' appears.

it works
Didn't work, now the Email card is there. Damn... This is bugging.
Did you all factory reset android 10 until now or for those who worked never resetted their device?
thanks!! ,
it seems to work!!!
Nice one!
But now i have: Add another email account wtf...
I did not reset so far. I took a gamble there and it works. I was one of the many people who got stuck at 11.0.2, did a manual flash to 11.0.4, then did subsequent update via OTA.

You need root or someone's backup.

Hello, I have something to ask about. I need to know if there is any ability to store a system application variables usin adb. Imagine that I want to open my settings app and do something mabye a confirmation dialog will be shown in order to say something such as alert for something supposed that I did click on OK, i the normal case this alert will never be shown even if you clear the settings app data or clear the cash, is there any way to use adb to store the settings app data before opening it the if anything as the previous senario happened I can restore the settings app to the moment before clicking on the OK button or even before this alert has shown
