Tried using 11.0.10 (Aug security patch)
----
Go to Settings
Apps and Notifications
See all apps
Select menu at top right
Show system
Search for "settings suggestions"
Tap it to open
Storage, clear storage.
It works for me to remove the Pixel Suggestion, but in https://c.mi.com/thread-3275261-3-1.html forum, few users reported new popup 'Add Email Account' appears.

it works
Didn't work, now the Email card is there. Damn... This is bugging.
Did you all factory reset android 10 until now or for those who worked never resetted their device?
thanks!! ,
it seems to work!!!
Nice one!
But now i have: Add another email account wtf...
I did not reset so far. I took a gamble there and it works. I was one of the many people who got stuck at 11.0.2, did a manual flash to 11.0.4, then did subsequent update via OTA.

You need root or someone's backup.

I went Settings -> Security but then I couldn't find the option to turn off "unknown sources". The options shown are screen lock, lock phone after, make pattern visible, vibrate on touch, set up SIM card lock, make passwords visible, trusted credentials, install from SD card, and clear credentials.
Is there a new way to do this? Thanks in advance.

Thanks. The thread was really clustered, must've skimmed over it and not have realized.

its all good bro
Not working on ARHD 6.5.
Can someone confirm?
i flashed the file and still cant install or find the option for install from unknown source.
Sometimes an installed App hides this option. Like mine when i installed WidgetZoid, i couldnt find it anywhere under Security option. I had to delete my WidgetZoid widget from the homescreen or worse uninstall the app that causes to hide the option.
Recently updated to Android L. However the option for me to set my lock screen to none is no longer present. I had switched it to swipe to test out the new notification features and it was there at that time. It is now gone and I cant figure out how to return it short of wiping phone. Using an Nexus 5.
Any suggestions?
Solved.

I managed to solve this. Under Andoid L if you access the guest account and switch back to your primary account the none option is disabled. To have it enabled, switch back into the guest account and select "Remove Guest" when looking under the profile switcher. This will end the session and activate the option.

Talk about a bug... That worked perfectly for me. Thanks
None of my notifications do the normal heads up display on this phone even for the apps that have all options turned on under notifications. The icon just shows in the top bar. How do I fix
You have to enable Banner for the notifications on which you want heads up like notifications. To do this follow these steps:
Go to Settings > Notification panel & status bar
Open Notification centre/manager
Select your app from the list.
Enable Banners for the app you selected.
ENJOY!!
I hope this helps you.
It is like previous Huawei devices with notifications working only for a few selected apps (FB,Twitter,Whatsapp) or they finally fixed the problem and now everyone gets up even without the app being in the background?

add those apps in the protected apps section under battery manager in settings
Then is confirmed how is like other older huawei devices and the app don't get a notification if isn't open in the background even with all permission given?
Notifications are working perfect in every Huawei. Just set them right.
Did you tried protecting the apps?
I've done every step to make apps notifications work, they only work if opened in the background all the time, for some motive apps like twitter or facebook are in a white list who make them enabled to get notifications even when closed but games or unknown apps aren't in it.
I never got a notification from a minor app when it was closed, in 2 years I sue my Honor 8.
Now I discovered is because Huawei put some bull**** battery managment program in the phone who totally kills everything but their apps and some of the most famous and never fixed it.
I was hoping for the most recent devices to have a fix, Emui 5 or something but seems like they haven't changed their policy.
Go in Settings/app/advanced/ignore battery optimisation and add your apps.
Come on guys.
I wrote that I've done every step, notifications simply don't work.

Try manually updating your device by following below steps, your data will get lost so take a backup before.
Download latest firmware of your device.
Extract zip file and put the UPDATE.APP in the root of your external sdcard.
Press all the three hardware keys (Vol UP + Vol DOWN + Power button) simultaneously.
The update process will start.
You'll have your device like out of the box.
I hope this helps you.

My device (Honor 6) is updated to the latest version, I already done a clean restore, nothing changed, only popular apps get notifications, games, minor apps or not from the play store never get notifications. Every setting for getting them is on.

I think Honor is doing some tweaks to clean the background apps so that more RAM stays free, and the battery life gets longer.
If you were on Honor 7 I would have suggested DigiKernel v1.1 as I didn't have any issues of notification after flashing it.
I haven't touched the OS, no root, flash or mods, is clean...and doesn't work, I've heard of how Emui 5 should fix this bug but my device is out the list of the receivers.

I just signed up to say thank you for the solution. :victory:
This option is never mentioned on forums when people asking for solution to notification errors.
"Protecting apps" and " Notification centre/manager" did not help, when the appliction is not checked on the list you say.

You're welcome.
I know it's never mentioned on forums, it always surprises me.
OK, ever since the switch from Nougat to Oreo update I've lost all notifications from GMail. I've already done some research and tried some of the advised steps but am still at a loss. This is not phone specific as I actually to get a new phone since Oreo. Thoughts, suggestions?

Try settings
apps
select the app you want
(gmail )
scroll down to app settings
Notifications
if it shows blocked
then select and toggle switch to on
this will allow you to customise notifications for this app.
Hope this helps.

Already checked that. Thanks, though
The notification badge numbers arent working for me. Already changed the config, but it's not changing. Even if i select "circle", they dont show up. Anyone have a suggestion about how to fix it?!
Have you tried checking the actual notification settings for any certain app to see if "Show App Icon Badges" are enabled? (See 1st screenshot)
Also, try installing a different launcher (Lawnchair) to see if they show?
I use Lawnchair and mine are showing fine.. (you need to give notification permission in Lawnchair settings.
My phone same as yours last time... Notification count not showing.... Install different launcher there is notification... I have to factory reset it...

Good to know... Only disadvantage is the notification will gone if you open the apps... Eg if you have 10 unread whatsapp when you open whatsapp all the notification is cleared... Other phone when you open whatsapp notification is still there unless when you open the chat itself.... The unclick chat will still show in other phone...

Yes, i've also noticed that. Didn't like it too, but... what can we do? \o/
at least i'm able to see the badges on icons again and it makes easier to check the apps that have new things for me
