Our site
Good morning Richard and thank you for your response to my advert offering repairs/parts for XDA/IMATE/PDA repairs.
However I feel that perhaps I should go into more detail about our company since you felt the need to state "approach with caution" before even dealing with us in the first place.
We are a legitimate business doing repairs for most of the taxi/courier companies in the UK and offer a money back guarantee on our parts/repairs.
With all due respect to yourself ,your statement is in fact false. You stated
"their site lists LCD's for the XDA IIs available as a spare part but not the actual type of LCD"---We categorically state that it is for the XDA II's and not for the XDA II which is a different model. On the reverse side of the coin we do the same stating that the XDA II is not the same as the XDA II's...What is the problem with that....??? And if a customer orders the incorrect part we will off course provide them with the correct part that they require.
We provide a average 24 hour turnaround service for our repairs and can repair physical, liquid and software issues on some of the devices.
We have a high street service centre in Wimbledon, London

No, your rebuttal is false and you are making yourself look bad as you don't seem to know what you are talking about!
There are TWO TYPES OF LCD THAT FIT THE XDAIIs/M2000/VPA III / MDA III / Blueangel. One made by Sony, one made by Toppolly, and they are NOT interchangeable, so if you supply only 1 type of screen for the xda iis they will not fit all the units.... I never mentioned the XDA II, you did.
If you don't know this or are unsure of any aspect of these models you can always do a bit more research on this site....but I wouldn't send a phone to you or buy a part for an XDA iis if you didn't even know that basic fact.
Oh dear.....

Wat r ur opinions on this statement? I know the power of Apple and its following but it seems a bit far fetched that one electronic device could actually lift the gross domestic product enough to impact the overall economy?

In theory any $800 item that sees millions of purchases within the first week of release would make for a temporary surge.
In the long run, it won't change anything. You also have to wait and see what happens with HTC possibly trying to ban the import off the new iPhone.

Yes but the consumer pays tax on purchased goods and so of course it will help the economy if millions are sold.

We'll see how much it helps the GDP if Samsung is able to stop it from being sold in the US at all due to 4G LTE patent violations.

if it sets any GDP it'll be how much less units it has sold against Android phones
the Wall Street news will probably read
"For the 5th quarter in a row Apple's iPhone5 has sold less than expected margins against rival Android platform blah blah blah..."

Hi,
I am not sure if this a right place for this.
I had participated in the Samsung India's 'Samsung Apps Olympic Game Event' and looks like I am shortlisted as one of the winner.
But I have not yet received any email for claiming the prize. I feel that the email might have gone in my junk email and I accidently deleted it.
Please guide me for claiming the prize if anyone is aware of the same.
If anyone has participated in this competition and got shortlisted, please forward me the email communication from Samsung India to me.
Thanks,

Got email from Samsung Olympic Contest
Hi,
Got email from Samsung Olympic Contest today.
But they are asking to pay Rs. 7200 as a gift tax.
"To claim the prize you need to pay the gift tax through A Demand Draft/Payorder of Rs.7200/-drawn in the name of ‘Samsung India Electronics Private Limited’ payable at Delhi for an amount equivalent to the tax payable under Income Tax regulation (which at present is 30.9% of the amount of the prize) i.e. approximately Rs. 7200/- (Rupees Seven Thousand two hundred only) prior to receiving the prize."
Please advice on this.
The list of winners is available on Samsungapps India site. I am a new member, so can't post links.
Congrats

Sounds like a con to me. If you've won something why would you have to pay to collect those winnings?
And this isn't the correct forum, you should have posted in the general thread.

Hi coolAbey
Can you please confirm from which mail id you received this mail. Have received same not from Samsung directly but from Digitas India. When I cross checked with Samsung India CEO office they said there is no such DD/pay order requirement but one has to go through Terms and conditions but their T & C say we may have to pay import tax something like that. Is anyone claimed this gift so far?

HI Capri72,
Yes, I received the email from Digitas India. In the email they have mentioned that 'Digitas India is the authorized agency appointed by Samsung for the prize distribution under the Samsung Olympic contest'.
Email also mentions that the DD/payorder along with the other documents(age proof, address proof, id proof etc) needs to be sent to:
Samsung Olympic Contest Cell
c/oSolutions Integrated Marketing Services Pvt Ltd
24 & 30, Ground Floor
Okhla Industrial Estate, Phase III
New Delhi – 110020.
I have asked some questions to the person who sent me the email. waiting for the answers.
In fact just now I got confirmation from Samsung that Digitas India is their authorized agency to distribute prizes to winners. Samsung also asking winner's to contact contest team to understand T & C. To be on safer side have already sent physical written consent and reply confirmation mail which they are expecting on or before 18th. If you have any updates from Digitas India guy please share it with me.
Thanks

Sounds like you guys are being scammed. Samsung wouldn't ask you to prepay a contest. And they wouldn't use any fake sounding company like Digitas as a middle man. Be careful!

and needs to be sent to,

Even initially i was suspecting same but when i contacted samsung ceo office cell they confirmed digitas india is their authorised 3rd party agency for prize distribution. Amount which they are asking against gift tax and we will get tds for the same. this gift tax may be applicable as per the T & C on official samsung site.

I'll take a stab at this ... lets assume that he gets 100% of the proceeds from sales (based on your maths above).
Now, lets take taxes into consideration. But, before we do that we have to know over what time frame these sales occurred. Tax brackets are based on your annual income, so this is important. The best I can determine is that the first release was sometime in 2010. So lets assume it's three years old.
Lets also assume they consistently sell the same amount of licenses per year at the same price for simplicity's sake.
3,290,000 / 3 = $1,096,666 per year.
That puts them smack into the highest tax bracket of 39.6% per year. So ...
$1,096,666 * .396 = $434,248 paid in taxes. Also, assuming they keep good books and aren't too clever with their taxes, investments, write off's ect. Too many variables to consider here.
So, that means, that before paying staff, paying overhead (again which deals with complexity of write-offs, deductions, etc so we'll skip that) they pulled in:
$1,096,666 - $434,248 = $663,386
Now you have to factor in misc living expenses such as mortgage, utilities, beer, etc ...
IIMHO ..... No, they do not drive exotic sports cars. But they could very well be living comfortably when you consider the median US household income is only $50,233.00.

I think I read once that although people think they can multitask, the human brain isn't capable if doing it. And one or both tasks will suffer as a result. Just my 2 pennies.
Computers also can't do it, and the tasks suffer. It's called "context switch overhead". However, if the processors are fast enough - you can lose the overhead and still be capable of doing whatever phones are doing these days.
Doesn't matter, question answered.

I had this exact thought. A lot of people download TB whenever they clean flash a new Rom. If each of these counts toward a unique download, I've contributed at least 30 to that count.
And what about updates? Do those count individually too?

OmniBeam playstore link (United States only)
If any of you have talked to Dave Beebe about his Mobeam technology and partnership with Samsung to include it in the Galaxy S4, you probably also got this E-mail today:
I’m pleased to announce that OmniBeam, the first app to include mobeam’s patented beaming technology, is now available for free download from Google Play..
Discover coupons from the brands you love and store all of your loyalty, membership and gift cards in your Samsung Galaxy S4.
Using mobeam’s patented beaming technology, OmniBeam lets you use your phone to redeem coupons, provide your loyalty/membership details –even pay for your purchase using a gift card, – regardless of what type of scanner your favorite retailer uses. OmniBeam uses a light on your phone to “beam” the black-and-white pattern of a barcode directly into the scanner. Simply select your card, push the Beam button and point your phone’s screen at the scanner. Now you really can leave all those plastic cards and key tags at home!
Save money on your groceries too! OmniBeam includes SavingStar’s digital grocery coupons from top brands – redeemable at over 24,000 locations around the US. Simply “clip” the coupons in OmniBeam, then watch the savings add up when you use your loyalty card. The money you save can be deposited directly to your bank account, added to a PayPal account, or sent to you as an Amazon gift card.
Welcome to mobeam!

Hi folks,
I thought I'd clear the air a bit about why some S4 users are unable to download and use the app. Unfortunately, due to restrictions surrounding the the coupon content included in the app, we must limit distribution to the US only. That said, we are working diligently on an app without the coupon content (at least initially), that will be available for worldwide use. We hope to have that app available in the coming weeks!
We appreciate your input and look forward to counting you all among the growing number of happy beamers.
