Official HTC S-OFF is being worked on and is due for release ;-) - HTC Desire S

Iv'e just got of the phone will a really nice chap from HTC.
I phoned and explained to the chap that HTC never used to lock there bootloaders but changed there policy a few months back and started locking them.
However this has only affected a few phones because HTC have publicly announced that they have now changed there policy again and will no longer be locking them due to customer feedback.
The reason for my call was to ask him if HTC had a solution for the people who had been caught in the middle, like myself with a Desire S, I asked him if he could provide me with software or a solution so that I could turn the S-ON off and unlock my bootloader, he said he just needed to speak with someone first and placed me on hold.
When he came back he said unfortunately there isn't any software that can be released to the public just yet, but they are aware of the situation and they are working on releasing software to enable us to unlock our bootloaders, but unfortunately he couldn't give me anything just yet. He also told me to join the HTC e-Club as that is where it will be released. I tried to push him for an ETA but he said HTC don't give ETA's its against there policy.
The chap seemed really helpful, he even mentioned for me to have a look on xda, we talked about the xtc clip and he told me I'm best waiting because the xtc clip voids your warranty. So you can only take from that, that the Official HTC way won't void your warranty.
Just hope it comes soon

Without meaning to piss on your bonfire
He didn't actually tell you anything that we don't already know...all he did was demonstrate excellent customer service skills and possibly get another member of the HTC e-Club!
Until HTC announce an official statement giving us a date(s) when this "software release" will roll out then it should unfortunately be classed as vapor ware.
It's great that they have said that they're changing their policy, but I'm not holding my breath. IMO creating such a positive sounding post when there is nothing solid to back it up is just giving people false hope and besides there are already posts on this topic in this forum...
I'd obviously love to be proven wrong....

I've been in the call-center industry (technical support manager) and these "alibi"s are just way too obvious, even for an average joe.
Our only proof that this would be true, is once the software has been released. *IF* it will be released.. *AND IF* there's any..

lets hope they get to it asap to keep us all happy, coz im on the verge of possibly selling my desire and going elsewhere for a manufacturer. HTC need to rethink some of their strategies when it comes to making decisions about quality over quantity.

For one thing I ain't no average Joe,
I've dealt with enough nuggets at call centers, the bloke I spoke to at HTC was either very good at chatting sh*t or he was genuine.
From the conversation I had with him I'd say he was definitely genuine, he didn't just fob me off, he took the TIME to find out.
Anyway in 6 months if the Desire S is still locked down then tell me I told you so.

If 6 months over and still not unlocked, i dont think that someone will have the desire S anymore.. and HTC will get a really bad name xD

seriously looked at htc page and there isn't a update announced and at the evo forum there are not 1000 threads like YAY F*** BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED!!!!!111111 so i think htc released nothing

Nuts to this. I have just dropped my phone off at a shop who are running the XTC Clip service for me. By this afternoon I should have wifi drop issues sorted, wifi range sorted, custom kernel OC to 1.2Ghz (can do 1.7 but I think that would cook it!), some Sense 3.0 stuff, SetCPU back, Titanium backup back, and all the other goodies of a rooted s-off phone & custom ROM. Looking forward to it.
Sorry HTC. Just too slow.

HTC are unlocking the Sensation retrospectively. Hopefully the DS will follow suit.

Petition HTC to unlock their bootloaders - please sign!

Hi, I'm an Incredible S owner but I thought I'd cross-post this here since it applies to the Desire S as well.
There's a new online petition to protest HTC's decision to introduce signed bootloaders that prevent rooting and the use of custom ROMs on their phones. It's on a website called Groubal which takes customer complaints directly to companies if a petition gets enough signatures.
If like me (and most of us on the IS forum!) you want to see HTC's decision to lock down all their new phone firmware reversed, please go to this page and sign. Maybe if there are enough of us, HTC will be forced to listen.

I figured it out about 2 seconds after I posted but looks like you already read it. Definitely wasn't insulting though and IS is not obvious. Never heard it refered to as IS only Inc S. Internet and their damn acronyms for everything!

This partly true. HTC have been a long way short after the HD2 (clearly ahead of the market), but now with the Sensation they have a chance to capture the high end consumers again.
We are another segment of consumers and a small one at that; if we don't buy HTC phones then I doubt it would make a big enough dent in their revenue to matter. BUT in my opinion we are a group at the forefront of having the most strict requirements. Those that push the boundaries of these phones, critiquing ever bit of software/hardware far more than the average consumer. If we were listened too a bit more HTC might realise that we hack and root our phones because we know they have the potential to be better, a potential that HTC need to realise to beat the likes of Samsung (who are improving on their software and at this rate will soon offer consistently better phones than HTC).
We should be embraced, not excluded.

PS: to me it was obvious especially after pointing out he's from Incredible S forum...plus Desire S is often reffered to as a DS
But I think HTC will never listen to petitions like this... sadly... (but I signed it nonetheless )
Just signed it, although the chance of HTC to reconsider unlocked bootloader is very slim. Hopefully their sales will be affected by this poor decision.
These companies don't care about petitions. They only follow their agendas.

its a no win answer for HTC. if they claim only a small percentage of users root and that this wont effect sales, then why spend the money to lock their bootloaders if such a low percentage of users even root anyway? seems like a waste of resources and money if virtually nobody roots.
and if a high percentage of users DO root, then why lock their bootloaders since that would indicate those users buy HTC specifically for the rooting abilities.
either reason HTC uses as an excuse, it goes into the makes no sense answer response.

That's their way of saying yes without creating a riot. Just wait for it to be released here. The funny thing is, is that most, if not all, rooters will likely avoid htc root and use an xda root. Wouldn't it be funny if no one used htc methods?

You will draw people in with the mis-leading title, as they will think there is genuine info about HTC's stance on warranty and achieving S-OFF.

This had been posted many times and if you googled even a segment of the response you would know it was an automated response. See how it had nothing to do with your answer lmao. Although no one really knows for sure, more than likely doing so through their method will leave some type of watermark on your phone our flash in their system. whether or not out it will void ur warranty is unknown. dun dun dun dun dunnnn.....*cues the ominous music*

Shouldn't the warranty cover the hardware still? I mean you can't break the power button by unlocking the bootloader

Wait a minute, you got a confirmation that it would certainly void the warranty? Did you take screenshots, that would actually be news...
Just because some slack jawed customer service rep says it will void the warranty doesn't mean anything. If it voids the warranty they will have to publish this somewhere in an official announcement to cover their asses. Until someone can show me that, the warranty is in full effect regardless of whether the bootloader is s-off or not.

Yes it did reel me in like an unwitting dunce, change the thread name ffs, your going to get a lot of people coming here hoping for a method to s-off.
As for HTC, they will unlock the bootloader but keep the simlock intact, probably with some other restriction in place too, better to wait for the guys @ alpha rev to release their work, which shouldn't take too long now.

I get a piece of news,our t-mobile sensation's update is developing but htc even doesn't have a test version,so if alpharev's s-off doesn't support our devices,we have to wait for htc's s-off or alpharev's new version

You surely never expected to keep warranty and an unlocked bootloader? Have you not seen how it is done on the Nexus? There is a disclaimer on the phone before it unlocks it. Id personally use AlphaRev when that come's out and that way you should easily be able to flash back to stock if need be..
Of course it will void warranty! Even rooting your device (should) void your warranty. Jailbreaking your iDevice will void warranty. Why peoples even ask these questions..?

Thing is, though, regardless of unlocking the bootloader so long as you have an RUU for your device I don't think HTC should say it invalidates your warranty as it can be reverted to stock easily - and even easier with S-OFF!

It doesn't matter what I expect. If HTC is going to void its warranty because you use a process they themselves put in place, they need to put that in writing. Internet chatter or the word of a call center script monkey doesn't mean anything. Until it is shown in official company correspondence with all legal disclaimers included it's all bull****.

Oh come on, Sony is doing the exact same thing. If you're not happy with the HTC method you can always unlock it the XDA way. Like it or not, unlocking your bootloader ALWAYS voided your warranty, the only difference is that now you're unable to hide it.

Give me a break. If you really believe this, go enjoy Samsung and THEIR broken promises. HTC update their phones way more than Samsung ever will. You should be happy HTC is doing ANYTHING to appease the modding community, especially considering that most/all firmware that we flash onto our phones is based on intellectual property "borrowed" (more like stolen) from HTC in the first place.
HTC is handling this the way they are to cover their asses in case someone bricks their phone flashing it with unsupported software, and frankly, you and I both know a good percentage of the community doesn't have enough brain capacity to avoid certain doom when attempting a lot of these mods.
Also, it's a bit of a stretch to say that everyone is growing impatient. Those of us that were complaining loudly about the policy in the first place were only complaining because we HAD no possible way to unlock our bootloaders. Now we do, thanks to awesome efforts by revolutionary and teamwin. We might be keeping an eye on the developing story, because we'd like if future phones were unlockable out of the box, but the vitrol is not there. They promised us August/September, and it looks like they're standing behind that.
On Samsung you will also loose your warranty by flashing any roms and unlocking the bootloader is easy.
All warranty means in the UK is that the company agrees to replace/repair without question within the warranty period.
The law actually says if something goes wrong in the first 6 months the retailer (not the manufacturer) has to prove the fault was caused by the owner's actions/mistreatment, they of course can send it off to the manufacturer to prove this, by getting a report detailing how unlocking the bootloader caused the button to become faulty.
So if you unlock the bootloader and the power button starts playing up within the first 6 months then the retailer has to prove that it is faulty due to you unlocking the bootloader.
If it were to go wrong after 6 months, and the retailer contested it, you'd have to win the argument that unlocking the bootloader had nothing to do with the fault.

It would be nice if things were that rational here in the USA. Here, if you've modified the device, Congress has affirmed you can't be locked up or charged with any sort of intellectual property violations, but the retailer and HTC can deny warranty services. And they do, even in cases where the issue clearly was not caused by unlocking the device. Hence the need for some of us to use 3rd party methods and relock before seeking service for issues we know an unlock did not create.
I am glad that XDA allows voices of dissent to be heard without censorship. This site has not posted my polite disagreement. Notice, the ONLY comments they've got are ones praising HTC.
The Sensation very well may be my last HTC device. I gave them honest money, but they're not giving me honest responses on matters of importance to me.

Picture this, most laptops/devices have a warranty void if removed sticker on them. However, say I opened the laptop up so I can clean out all the dust. A month later the screen dies, what would YOU do if you were in charge of RMA at the company?

As I've said, HTC has ALREADY refused service to devices that were unlocked in the past and I don't expect that to change. I'm not talking about noobs who don't know what they're doing. Let's consider people who have a clue and run into issues not caused by a hack.
If I was in charge of RMA (or anything) at HTC, I'd tell them to go back to the way things were done with their very first Android device and enjoy the fact they're making a good profit.
Neither of us will convince each other of anything. Can't say I'll go on forever in this thread over this. I vote with my wallet. I purchased once HTC promised to never lock again and they've let me down. Those who vote/pay to continue with HTC, I'm happy for you.

Exactly how I feel about it. They made a broad open statement that would please ears and got people like me literally won over to buy after that happened. Then they deliver this...
You can even read some of my old posts in this Sensation forum even before release where I was saying I can't get this device if they don't unlock it. Sure 3rd party Devs found a way, but I'm not going to continue this arms race game with HTC. I don't need them and they obviously can carry one without me.
Before I saw the video above and this thread, I was planning to start this thread myself. I just found the video later today when checking out the HTC home page.

You guys are making way too big a deal out of this. HTC didn't say unlocking "will" void your warranty, they said it "may." If someone overclocks their CPU and melts it down, do you think HTC should replace it under warranty? There's a law (at least in the U.S.) that says a manufacturer can't void your warranty if you modify the product unless they can prove those modifications caused the defect. So in the case of an overclocked and fried CPU, HTC could prove the modifications damaged the phone. If you've overclocked your CPU and the screen dies, they'd have to repair that under warranty. They can never arbitrarily void your entire warranty.

It's not like they didn't know the operating conditions of the phone when they bought it.
Modify it at your own peril and don't cry if you brick it.
Anyone who expects to do whatever they want to their phone and not void your warranty is retarded. Can you do this to pc's? Tv's? Anything else in any category of consumer products? No, if you don't like it don't buy it. Buying a phone with a policy you don't like then *****ing about it is pretty redundant.

I would say that if you Sensation drops wifi signals all the time, you probably should change your router, or you have a HW fault on your phone.
Now before you tell me '..but my computer works etc..' mass produced routers for home users generally suck all of them,to find one that actually work as intended is like winning the lottery!
I must admit there is one wifi router i personally haven't had a singe problem with, and that is Apple Airport Extreme(latest revision, probably a couple of years old now), therefore i've told everyone i know to get one, and those(few) that did hav not had a single problem, and even my mother who is 60 years old managed to set it upp correctly with security, on her own.
But i know, i've been reading ppl having problem with even that one, but as i said, it really is a lottery..

I think your right. When I'm home with my beast of a router (D-link HD) my WIFI is awsome with full bars on every single floor and every single room of a 3 story house. When I'm at a friends house with some ****ty wireless G router, my WIFI sucks. It wont even get full bars in the same room.

It always amazes me how little consumer protection there seems to be in the US
Thankfully there are other ways to unlock the bootloader without affecting the warranty.
Well guys..... Look at this....deat grip issue was still managable....then came.a big issue of touchscreen sensitivity and after that the panel is made by different brands...now a broken promise yhat too made by ceo himself.....I many times ask myself.... Was this fone tested well before launch or was it a haste move to match gs2.... Either way those like me who trusted htc since years are feelin off to hv trust shaken...

Stupid HTC. No ICS for Us.

So as many know, HTC holds the ball in our Official ICS Updates. They're the company that wants to get us the "Latest, and Greatest" Thing. But they seem to have forgotten about us. The Sensation, Sensation 4G, Sensation XE, Sensation XL will be getting ICS in March. Then the Rezound, Vivid, Amaze 4G, Evo 3D, Design 4G, INC S, Desire S, and DHD will be getting ICS sometime this year.

Why are we not on this list? We have Similar, to better Specs than these phones. The reason is??? My Sense, the Death of ANY HTC Phone. All these phones Run Sense 2.1, GingerSense, or Sense 3.0/5. It's complete bull crap, I know it's not an Issue for people like us. We have Great Dev's, 5 ICS Rom's. But with no Official ICS Rom, no Official ICS Source. It makes AOSP Rom's lack a Camera, which means no CM9.
I Emailed HTC, ranting about how all these devices have ICS Updates. But we don't, I feel betrayed. I've used HTC Handsets for the longest time, and not going to buy another after this. If I can't be promised and Official Update for a high end phone, just because it's OS. It's just stupid. Reminds me of school, when I'd get picked on for listening to a certain band. I choose the wrong music, now I have to deal with being left out till Middle Schools over.
So fellow Doubleshot users, whats you opinion? Going to stay with HTC? Or jump ship to the Galaxy S 3 like the rest of the world?
I personally feel it is too early to worry about not getting ICS. The sensation announcements are mostly for the Global phones and the others are Verizon specific. They will announce more soon they said. I feel better with HTC than Samsuck. I had a behold 2 and they pretty much Lied and screwed their customers from the get go. And even IF we don't get an official ICS ROM at least I KNOW I will be able to install a custom ROM from more than 1 dev and I'm not lock out by using the very unsafe odin bricking tool. Plus touchiwiz blows compared to sense. Not mention the fiasco with the GB updates for the original S series and they left the Original S series with no ICS even though the Nexus S is mostly the same phone! Yeah never owning a Samsung again. Not even a Samsung Nexus.

The behold was a sad, sad phone. Didn't only get 1.6?
But if we don't have an official ICS Rom, we can't get CM9. So we'd be CMless till the Summer if where lucky. I Love TB's Rom, but once we have official CM code we'll get a jump on Roms. MIUI, CM9 Type Roms, AOSP, and Quarto.
gs3 baby! MWC better not upset me.

I some what beg to differ. We do have working Kernels now even IF they aren't the new 3.0.x kernel. Also when NBetcher and I were working on SalsaSlide on the mT3GS he ported the Kernel from the Salsa RUU so we had a more up-to-date kernel than the one from the official Froyo release.
As for the Behold it was a good phone that was more powerful than any other Android Phone T-mobile had until the SGS (with the exception of the N1). Also Samsung themselves promised us Eclair and they lied and gave us Donut instead. Also the SGS Touchwiz blows if I wanted a phone that wanted to be an iPhone I'd get an iPhone.

I actually did the same thing twice, emailing HTC. Their short answer was no at this time the MT4G Slide is not our top priority so we won't do it. Kinda made me a little flustered, but at least HTC isn't the only manufacture...
The way I see it, we WILL have 99% source because as you stated before, we have similar, if not better specs than those phones listed. The sensation and our phone are nearly identical. Same with the amaze. Even in terms of hardware, we have the same processor and camera as the amaze. We have less RAM, but, only by a little. I'm not worried. Our devs have proven that they can run with the best. Until they start jumping ship, I'm optimistic about our future.
Also, don't forget, the migration from the g2 to the mytouch 4g slide has already started, and will only increase. As the only top tier phone with a keyboard (I'm not even going to give the sidekick any credit here), we should see a flood of excellent devs in the coming months. I hear the g2 devs are some of the best around.
Hopefully we'll get a Dev who can create a Camera Source from Scratch like they had to do on the DHD. That's really my main concern, even if we didn't get an official ICS Rom. But just the proper source to make it, it'd be nice. We should all email them and ask them to do so.
Is it true that T-Mo is giving Sensations as a optional replacement for this phone?

Pretty typical response. Doesn't mean jack. Their plan is usually the same, have a big announcement about updates so they can say "hey, we take care of our customers", then put off their less popular devices, hoping to sweep it under the rug. Big corporations are like children. They need to be pressured and forced into doing the right thing.
Still, the source code will be released for the sensation and amaze, so if its camera you're worried about, I'm 100% positive tbalden can break it down and port it. Just look at his tv out thread. Dude's a devving mastermind.

I'm calling today to see about getting swapped for a Sensation. I like the bigger screens.

Man ... everytime i get a peek into the past lives of people's handsets, I feel left out that I didn't get involved with Android until recently. I had a tablet for a bit, but this device that I got an August was my first cellular handset that was more then a bottom of the line flip phone (that I didn't even have charged half the time...provided I knew where it was)
I admit i'm a little jealous of all the cool stuff you guys have been through, rammed home by the fact that i've been spending time recently researching how root and s-off was obtained on older devices and learning the history that most of you lived with and just know.
This is where I make my stand, it's a solid device that can handle everything I put it through, and i'm happy with it. I have no intentions of going anywhere, and am taking the time to learn gingerbread through and through. Once I get that down cold i'll move up to ICS and beyond.
What's been said about future devs coming in is true - this device is being given out ass a replacement for the G2, so as those devices break down people will be coming in. We've already seen a couple of waves of it here, and having been here since before s-off was available there absolutely is a lot more dev happening now then anytime before. We have choices, options to play with given to us by the people who have been taking the time to put them together.
All of our devs are working together and helping each other out, and we have a solid little community here. I don't intend on going anywhere anytime soon, and doubt that anyone else working on the device is going to jump ship anytime soon.
I laughed @ Samsuck - never heard that before - but i've had the chance to play with some motorolla and samsung handsets recently that people I know own, and compared to this device and the other HTC products other friends of mine own (inspire 4g, incredible) the other brands seem somewhat lacking.
I expect that the next handset I purchase at some indeterminate time in the distant future will be an HTC as well. I can say that i'll start with HTC, and if I don't feel like my needs are being addressed then i'll look elsewhere.

The Android Police article came out, I got the notification through Pulse News because it's the first thing I check when I wake up. Jumped right into the forums to make a patch - guess what? another dev had released it about 15 minutes before I got here. Done. HTC patch? 2 MONTHS later. We had ours in 2 hours.
If you want to wait for the manufacturer/carrier to grind an update through it's gargantuan system, and wait for them to do this and that and the other thing, run it through legal, get signed off on, etc... you'll be waiting forever. At least here we can work together to make it happen on a more immediate level.
We do the best we can with what we got, and if all we got is gingerbread kernel source...F 'em, we'll make it work. I'm attacking the current s-off issue - am I mad at HTC for locking us out? A little - they shouldn't, it's unethical - like buying a new car but having a governer on it that only lets it go 25m.p.h. - but we'll crack it no thanks to them and it'll be okay.
I have a can-do attitude, and the one flaw in security is by it's very nature no security can be made that cannot be broken. Fact of life true for everything from mechanical locks to software. All it takes is an investment of time, effort and energy to make it happen, and that's literally what we have here in the community.

i just switch from a g2x, they all complain on how lg is leaving them out on the ics update. had a g2,mt3gs, heck i even had a cliq just to name a few, and a lot of people on those forums complain on the manufactures/carriers is leaving them out from updates. I remember reading this "DONT GET A PHONE HOPING YOU WILL GET THE NEWEST UPDATES< GET A PHONE THAT YOUR HAPPY ON WHAT IT HAS" to me that is so true and in my opinon htc has some of the best phones, and if we dont get the update, so what, i am very happy with this phone the way it is

Hey peeps just for kicks I contacted customer un-support to inquire about hox at&t jelly bean update.The following is my chat,where the tech gets mad at me for,asking them to send me the update since they cant fix it.Then he ends the chat,when I say his pre-written statement's are insulting,and the at&t devs are amateur's. I thought it was hilarious,this guy did not.

You guys are operating these devices on my airwaves, the publicly owned bandwidth that is leased by the FCC in the public's best interest. Yet somehow we pay alot more for service that is accompanied by terrible customer service,and updates & support clearly are a part of that. This also hints as to why AT&T has lost most its customer base,and become rated dead last for customer service by Consumer Reports and other rating agencies

Geofrey Holt : At&t is trying to put this update out as soon as possible. They are pushing this update out in batches. And we do not know when those batches are pushed out. You will receive a text message on your phone when it is available for your phone.

I don't appreciate being giving a sorry just wait answer.I know for sure at&t has not even began to do this.So what your tell me is a total lie,or you know nothing about the company you work for.The one xl+ has received two its already going to the next platform again. This phone came much much later. As I expected we the customer are left,with terrible support and no real answers as to why the whole world has this update and we cannot. We the customer own your terrible company,and we demand the same respect other carriers give their customers.

blaz1nr: well just to let you know,it does work,in fact the version from Canada,works perfect and its from a different carrier altogether.Almost 15 years as a customer and this what I get.Ill tell you what send me the update,ill have it stable and ready to push by tonight.That's how fast I can do it,and I have had no schooling for this at all.But i can for sure fix this entire update in under one day.By my self.This just proves someone like me that can build this from source with no training at all,is far more quilified then your own dev team. Geofrey Holt : Once a manufacturer releases an update to us, AT&T puts it through rigorous testing to ensure its compatibility with our network. Only once we are satisfied that the update will work properly on our systems without causing a negative customer experience will we then make it available for our AT&T branded devices. This can sometimes be a lengthy process that may include working with the manufacturer and developers to make needed changes. There have been some instances in the past where we have simply never released updates due to conflicts and unresolvable problems. At this time the update you are looking for is not yet available for your AT&T device. I am sorry, but we will need to wait to see if and when it is approved by our testing team.

+100 to this. You are the kind of customer I hate. An arrogant know it all that takes out his frustration on the minimum wage employees that have absolutely no control over your problem. Go fall in a ditch

The guy was telling the truth as he knows it, and can only tell you what he is being told. Customer service reps don't do the testing, not part of the certification team, and have nothing to do with the release of the update. All he can tell you is what he is being told, and what he is scripted to say.
There is a 17 page thread on the AT&T community forum, with similar complaints as you. There is an AT&T community manager that has been active on that thread named jamileh, and she has been a bit more forthcoming than the CS agent you chatted with. But she didn't have any better of an answer. She understands that people are *****ing and moaning about the delay, and she has been bugging the certification team at least twice a week to get any information on when it will be released. All they will tell her is that its being worked on, but there is no ETA. That is probably as much information as you are going to get from any AT&T employee.
Anyway, why would someone complain about such a thing on XDA? This is the place for phone mods and custom ROMs. Just unlock the bootloader, load a custom ROM, and be done with it.
First off the guy is a high yield account rep. This meaning 15 or more devices on one account. Secondly he does in fact know, that the update was canceled due to eod listing. So that being said, and since I chat with the same guy multiple times. He has stated before that the eod list is visible, and they can tell you if it's not going to update. But At&t policy is never to say your device is eod. So before you blindly post comments, it's good to know the facts.

I just tracked it down. My head hurts.
At this point, there is no doubt in my mind that the update is being delayed intentionally for marketing reasons. It will probably come out eventually, but I would guess not until at least a month after the One is available.
I followed all of those posts on the AT&T forums for some time about two months ago...just a lot of butt hurt people all raging on the death star, some with purpose and some without. I especially love all the people threatening to leave because of a software update :laugh:
Listen, that's the reason why we have the brilliant minds here in this community. READ, MOD, and be MERRY! If people don't like what AT&T has to offer, then there is competition out there, but I hear the same from Verizon customers frequently.
None of these companies promise or really owe any of us anything and to expect otherwise is naivety.
I feel a little sorry for that CSR...

I dropped out of that thread a while ago. Its basically just page after page of people complaining over and over. Often just the same people complaining again and again. Beating a dead horse, and its not going to make AT&T move any faster.

EOD? You mean EOL (end of life)?
End of day?
Eve of Destruction?
AT&T (as well as other carriers) tend to keep phones around for quite a while. So I doubt the One X is EOL. They are still selling the Vivid (8 months older than the One X) as new (not a refurb).
Closing this before it really gets out hand
