Here is my situation:
I purchased my phone from letstalk.com, so if I were to do an exchange, I would be without a phone for about a week and a half (I have to send the phone back first).
I noticed dust particles (about 10 or so) on the right side of the screen today. I'm not sure if they have always been there, or just slowly appeared. I never noticed it until I was in direct sunlight today. They aren't noticeable at all when the screen is on.
I'm also afraid of receiving an Acer screen instead of sharp.
So, for those of you that have dust under the screen, did you exchange for a new phone?
You know I have some dust and don't plan on exchanging mine. I'm sure if I do it will just happen again. At least until the next batch if they correct it. I have a sharp screen and prefer it. I think I will just keep it for a few months then do a insurance claim so I get a new one and not a refurbished one. Yeah there is a deductible but I think it's worth it.

I found dust not normal. Had no dust under my HTC Passion.
Did you exchange via HTC or T-mobile? If T-mobile, do they offer the swap method like HTC does?
very little dust
but had touch screen issues as well

Take the case off your sensation and make sure the screen is on at full brightness. Look at the lower right corner, you can clearly see the backlight for the buttons , I imagine dust gets in there and slowly travels (due to moving the phone around) to the screen portion of the device.
I had mine for about 3 weeks when I noticed the dust under the screen, about half way down the screen on the right side. It wasn't specks, but a streak of dust going from the edge toward the middle. I called T Mobile for a replacement, and the one they sent me was worse than what I had, green tinge to the screen, and the screen was not responsive. I sent back the replacement. I sent mine in to HTC almost 2 weeks ago. They replaced the LCD, and sealed the edges (or wherever the dirt is coming in at). It is supposed to be back in a couple of days. I will post how it looks, and if there are any issues with the repair, when it gets here.

I had dust in the same exact place, but they were specs, noticeable during usage.
My T-mobile replacement is coming Wednesday. I hope hope hope that that there is no dust in this one. I hate playing back and forth.

I hope so too. I didn't notice any dust in the one they sent me, but it was a "refurb". It was far worse than what I had, so I sent it back to them. I decided then that I wasn't going to play the exchange game with them anymore, and I liked the phone I had, just not the dirt. I am so hoping that I don't have any more problems with it because if I have to live without it for 2 weeks again, I will not be happy!

Wow.. I was thinking the replacement would solve my problems.. but if the refurb units are sub-par, maybe not. And if the dust is an issue with all sensations it looks like they will all need to be sent in to HTC for sealing. Dust Screen of Death.
I'll update when it arrives.
I think the Sensation just has sealing problems with the screen. Just 2 days ago I was out and it started raining, and my phone was in the pocket face down facing my thigh. By the time I got home and pulled out my phone, water had seeped into the screen and messed it up, but all my liquid damage indicators were white. All my other phones, I never even had to worry about that. My HD2, I got poured on outside by a lot of rain, and my phone was completely fine. Luckily, I'm still getting a replacement.

I got mine back from HTC today, the dust is gone, but the new screen they put in it is defective. Only parts of the screen are responsive, etc. I am not happy at all, but the only thing I can do is send it back for another repair. If it has to go back again after that, i believe HTC will replace it. I hope it doesn't get that far. I hate not having my phone for two weeks at a time...
I had to replace my sensation due to a faulty screen and the replacement I got from tmobile had dust underneath the glass, i just called tmobile again and they sent me a new replacement which is completely free of dust (for now)

Has Anyone else cracked a screen on their infuse yet and replaced it? The only parts I can find are the whole assembly of the LCD, digitizer, etc and its like $200. When I had an iphone i replaced the screen/glass part for about $30.
I looked at buying a eBay phone with cracked screen, by the time you add on 180-200$ for the screen it wasn't worth while. Cheapest I found was ~180$
because of the way our phones are constructed, it makes the repair much more expensive. If I'm not mistaken, the iphone's glass and lcd aren't bonded together, and don't have the digitizer attached. The bonded screen and glass with digitizer is much more expensive. you can find the whole thing for about 130.
What I did when I cracked my screen was, I just put the phone with cracked screen up on ebay and got 117 for it. Then I just bought a used one off craigslist. They got for like 200-250 in my area. so its like a 100 dollar repair
that really sucks samsung made such a stupid design. I really like this phone and was enjoying it alot more than my iphone.
Are there any androids without such a bad design for the screen?
Gorilla Glass is Da Bomb
i found out on ebay have only glass to sell but should be make sure u r able to separate d lcd n glass!!!its cheap about $20 only...my lovely infuse broken glass also....now im waitin for d glass n replace it....good luck for me ^^
Please advise if the glass replacement will be successful.
I had the glass broken and replaced whole screen assembly (about $200).
It was very unpractical.
Break??? Gorilla glass??? Say it ain't so....mine has been thru hell, up against walls, dropped our car doors, ect...ect...not even a scratch....

You shouldn't have said it...I would be extra careful now!!
My Infuse has held up well also but if it's the same screen (gorilla glss) as an iPhone it is definitely possible to crack...my son has broken 2 iPhone screens from drops without case.

I'm not sure if they're a legit company :/
That's why I buy all my phones from Bestbuy and get the service plan for $10.59 a month. All that's covered and like every 6-7 months I go get another Infuse (refurbished) for free just because. Lol

Gorilla glass can break. It really all depeneds on the angle of impact. I dropped my phone exactly face down on tile it didn't bounce just smacked the floor dead on. I was expecting the worse but it was fine.

I broke mine, don't really know how but it was hardly noticeable. it still bothered me so I replaced it. well I shouldn't have cuz the replacement was defective. ugh. I don't recommend the repair but would be willing to do it for a small fee. the screen is bonded to a metal frame (magnesium maybe, its light even for aluminum but I didn't spark test it) and pretty much is difficult not to destroy in removal. hence all the parts that come with it. though I think now that I know what to expect I could do the repair without an issue. if you decide to do it your self pm me. ill let you know what you will run into.
Cracked the corner of my screen. This really sucks.. I paid only 150 for the phone, but will have to spend 180 to replace it. Hopefully the price will go down?
I dropped mine on gravel and it must have hit a rock just right, cracked it pretty good. Unlike my wife's iphone (which had the same thing happen but at a different location), the android touch screen still works just fine.

Just spoke with Samsung at 1-888-987-4357.
They will repair for $155.
Seems like the way to go if needing repair.
As the title states I have a cracked digitizer. Do not think the LCD is damaged as the display works fine and there are no signs of bleeding. I have gone through here and read several threads about replacing the digitizer/screen and have also contacted HTC about repairs. Buying a digitizer myself will only cost about $30-40. However; I have read threads on differences in the digitizers as well as when self-replacing there is a HIGH probability of dust, fingerprints and response being not up to par. Now to just send it in would be somewhere around $160 and I would know it is perfect. What are your guys' thoughts? And if you have done the repair yourself please let me know how it was.
I replaced an LCD and digitizer on mine and it wasn't too bad. I also own an HTC HD2, that phone was hell to replace the digitizer, I failed and sold it all in pieces. This phone however, was much easier, and I left NO specs of dust under the screen. Just make sure to replace it after a hot shower, and use a duster. On a random note, I bought another hd2 that had a new digitizer replaced on Craigslist, it has dust under it that I didn't notice -_-. Don't forget to check!
Yeah. I was thinking about just doing it myself. Only thing is the thing with the different digitizers. Supposedly it makes the screen laggy or even unresponsive if you have the wrong one. That's what I have read. Not really too sure though...
Try this post, replacement digitizer and instruction video.
Sweet. I will definitely check it out. At the moment I am fiddling around with my new SGS2 so the Sensation is taking a nap

Huh HD2... Yes I had same trouble... Mine was refurbished when I bought it and guess what? It was fu****g super glued together! I spent 2 hours just to open it.
Later on, I thought only digitizer was cracked but when I removed it (1,5 hours) I found out that LCD is damaged too (on the edges). Just to be sure, I ordered touch+LCD already assembled (dust free of course) and I`m waiting for it now...
I also got me a newSensation XE which is definitly A LOT easier to dissasemble...
Try it yourself, you can always send it back to offical repair centre...
Could you link me to where you got your assembly? It may be easier and more beneficial for me to just get the complete kit and call it a day.

Mostly likely the digitizer will get destroyed in the process. Buy the complete unit.
Someone said a few days ago he only replaced the glass but he had to break it in order to separate it, use the search I bet you'll find it quickly. If you can afford it take the whole thing, less chances of screwing up your phone, and you could always keep the old lcd for a test run with a glass only or in case you somehow manage to crack it again.
Still I'd suggest buying a screen protector once you fix your screen, costs less, barely noticeable and saves a whole lot of money and hassle.

This. I cracked my screen and bought an entire new one for $160 via ebay. It took 10 minutes to take apart and install the new one and be back up and running. I also bought the Otterbox Defender, honestly...works like a charm. It's durable, nice, feels good and it doesn't feel as bulky as it looks. The only down fall about a case with a screen protector is that the Galaxy series has a screen that goes all the way to the edge of the phone (like most modern phones now) so hitting stuff on the VERY edge of the screen is more difficult because of the raised case.
Buy the screen and a protector and if you are still curious, buy the replacement glass for your broken screen and try it. Worst case, you're out 20 bucks and have a completely broken screen (would be out the other $160 for the new screen you'd have to buy if you mess up any way) or best case, you're out $20 bucks but have a new screen incase you ever break it again.
Unscrew the 7 screws on the back (one is above the sim slot, keep it separate as it's a different size) and once you take the back piece off, there's one small black screw holding the board to the screen. The phone is 3 pieces, screen, board and back piece, it's extremely simple. Just pop all the circuit things with your nail or whatever (there's like 6 total). You have to pry your headphone jack off as it's glued unless your new screen comes with one...doubt it.
someone posted they got sammy to replace it for 189, call sammy up and see what they say, i think thats a good price

I repair phones and have replaced Lcd/digi assembly on both I727 and T989. No way you get that apart without busting the exiting assembly up. The cheapest part can be order via Ebay from China and you'll have to wait about two weeks for part. Or there's the company I used in San Fancisco at gounlock dot com that has it listed at $154 I believe. They have a listing on ebay under SkyStarTrade and I offered em $148 including shipping and the took it. I had the part in 3 days. Would highly recommend!!!!!!
I just got off the phone with Sammi Friday. The Rep quoted me $158 to replace the glass. So if they mess up the digitizer is on them. Cheaper than I was able to find the combo anywhere on line. So tomorrow my phone heads back to Sammi. I'll let you know in about three weeks how the service was and whether they honored their quote.
And exactly 8 days from the date that I shipped it to Sammi I have a my phone back. They replaced the LCD, bezel and glass for $158 as quoted. Not only that but they paid all shipping and used UPS 2nd day air both ways. And I'm still under warranty by having them take care of it. All in all couldn't be happier with the service. So if anyone needs the glass fixed my vote would go to Sammi.
So I cracked my screen. First phone I ever did this to and it annoys the crap out of me cause I dont even know how it happened.
Its a super fine hairline crack diagonally across the corners.
Ive replaced tons of screen glass of different phones before but from reading you cant just replace the glass on these?
Is this true. Do I REALLY have to spend 1/3 the cost of the entire phone just for a cracked piece of glass to buy the digitizer and lcd with it?
Any tips are appreciated.
thanks

You'll have to replace the entire front panel as replacing just the screen is a little hard.

Everything's fused together.. Replacing just one thing will be really very difficult. Even if you did it, reapplying the new glass will be a challenge as well. But since you've picked apart displays before and with that tutorial, I would surely try doing it myself if I were you. However, where would you buy the new glass? You'll need to buy the whole display, right??
My wife cracked her screen yesterday. Theres a lot of things i would try but screen replacement isnt one. Too many crazy things could be the outcome. Filed a insurance claim and the new n5 arrives todays.

Didnt get insurance since I have NEVER cracked a screen. Still dont even know how it happened I didnt really drop it. I did let it slip yesterday from like 2 feet but cought it on my sneaker.
Very annoyed. I bought a new screen protector and kind of hoping it conceals it a bit.
Ill wait until the unit gets cheaper in a few months and just replace everything.
I then might just buy the glass (its on amazon) and try to replace the glass on the broken one to see if I can and have a spare part.
Theyre like 80+$ but honestly its so fine that unless its tilted the right way its unnoticeable.
