Hey guys,
I was hoping someone could help me figure out how to fix my phone. I'm fairly new to everything and I accidently bricked my phone in the process of updating xRecovery from 0.3 to 1.0.
I had a ROM of Cyanogenmod 6.1.3 (Android 2.2) not stock 2.1, and I had busybox installed. I then tried to flash xRecovery 1.0 using xRecovery .3. Now when I turn on my phone, it doesn't go past the Sony Ericsson boot logo.
How can I recover my phone? I tried reflashing xRecovery .3, but it won't let me because it uses amend scripting instead of edify scripting. It just gives me that error message and aborts installation of any zip file I try to flash.
I cleared the user data, dalvik cache, battery stats in hopes that it might help. I also tried to flash an older 2.1 ROM and the newer 7.0 Cyanogenmod ROM, but nothing is working. I used the computer flash tool to do that, but it doesn't work because the computer cannot detect the phone.
Is it safe to reflash xRecovery .3 to restore my phone, or will I need to do something different? How can I convert the xRecovery .3 zip to use edify scripting?
Can someone please walk me through step by step? I don't know how to write scripts let alone amending versus edifying scripts. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

A reflash of the stock rom is recommended as usual.

first of thanks for all your help in advance and sorry for my bad grammar, spelling and stupid questions but i'm a noob and foreigner.
so i got my G-tab like 2 days ago and played with the stock TnT rom for awhile and it sucked.
so first did a nandroid backup.
installed CW Recovery v2.5.1.1-bekit-0.8 and
installed CM 6.1.0-Beta4-Harmony and all was good.
on a side note: i noticed that when i tried to Wipe Dalvik Cache that i get the error message:
E : Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(read somewhere that rePartitioning would fix that )
and so i RePartitiond my SD card. Big mistake because now my Nandroid Backup with the stock TnT rom is gone. oh sh.. i think to my self, but i still have a backup on my Mac so i tried to mound G-tab to Mac doesn't work anymore
so here i am now stuck on CM6.1.0-Beta4-
no g-apps no gmail no market no nothing and i can't find anything on how to install them without using a PC or mac.
i downloaded a TnT vanilla stock rom but i cant get it to work.
and i would really like to try the TnT light rom too.
my question is how can i mount my g-Tab to PC/Mac. or how can i install roms directly from my G-tab using CW Recovery? use too be able to just flash it but that doesn't work anymore
or can i just download a TnT rom nandroid backup zip file and then install it?
so thanks for all you help and sorry for my stupidity anything would help
Hi guys I really hope someone can help me with this. I was running CM7 Nightly rom and decided to try and flash eaglesblood 2.3.5 and it flashed ok but the problem is that when I tried restoring my back-up on it I get an clockworkmod recovery error. Any Ideas?
what does the error say?
most likely it was a bad backup and slim chance of restoration
did u do a full wipe before restoring?
Yes I did a full wipe before flashing and also before I tried to restore my black-up thru rom manager.I have flashed plenty of roms and this phone am not a total noob when it comes to this phone. I have never encountered this problem before. Before i tried going into recovery thru rom manager to restore back up thru CWm 4.0 etc, and it says I need CWM 5.0. I updated the rom manager to 5.0 etc and when I reboot and go into recovery (not thru rom Manager) and it says that it is the 4.0 etc version. Also is the 5.0 etc version blue? it jumps from 4.0 to 5.0 back to 4.0. This is a lil weird I went into recovery and did a restore from there and when I try in RM it comes up with error message Cannot restore cuz my CWm is 4.0 etc. thats when it jumps back from 5.0 to 4.0. I know this is confusing and by the way all the etcs you see are because I don't know the exact version. Any helps and thnx to whomever does.

You need to update thru NVFlash. Here is the link and everything should be fine after that. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054492
Thanks guys u rock. I got the new CWM on there for nvflash. Now I am moving my saved back up zipped file from downloads to CWM on sd card after I zip it, so well see how this goes right now. THanks again
With the G2X don't use rom manager for your backup/restore. Boot directly into the clockworkmod that you installed with nvflash and do the backup/restore from there.
I tried installing the new Blazer ROM V 3.1 today and followed the instructions to as provided. I am running a stock ROM with LostKernel. I did a nandroid backup first then installed the Caulklins Format All Zip in CWM and then installed the Blazer ROM zip from cwm. It stated that the install was successful and then i rebooted the phone but when it got to the boot animation the phones power turned off after about 5 secs into the animation. If anyone knows how to fix this problem I would greatly appreciate it.

I have a Sony Ericcson X10 Mini Pro, which had installed a version of CM7 that got at the forums. I learned about rooting and installing custom zips here, so it wasnt my first time.
1) So I decided to try this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415026
In the requirements it says I need to unlock the bootloader, have the latest baseband and latest kernel.
2) Followed this tutorial for unlocking the bootloader successfully, no problems:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
3) Followed this tutorial to install the latest kernel and baseband successfully, no problems
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415012
Still with me? So far I got all the requirements so install the ROM just fine.
4) Followed the guide to install the rom, everything is fine. After the zip was flashed, and flashed gapps too, I restarted my phone and it froze at Sony Ericcsson startup screen.
Tried several things: wiping data, cache, etc. Had done this before, did the usual steps.
BUT I THINK I MADE A FATAL MISTAKE. WHEN THE CWM ASKED ME TO VALIDATE THE CWM, I PUT NO AND LEFT THE CWM SCREEN WITHOUT VALDIDATING THE CWM.
I know that was very stupid.
So my question is:
QUESTION
-How can I boot phone or reinstall CWM to reinstall the ROM again?
-Did I brick my phone? Do I have any solutions for this?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long post, I tried to include as much as info as possible.
Auto-Answer:
Sony Ericsson PC Companion can flash over bricked phones and restore to the original system.
find this file "recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-ancora.tar.md5" and use odin multi downloader v4.43 theyre to flash this file i assume you know how to use odin, if your phone can still access download mode your phone is not brick.
Hi guys I have an old phone that I am playing with and after I updated it to 2.3.6GB all stock in Odin I started reading about the possibility of going to ICS and further. So I installed a modified kernel with v.5 CWM and tried to install different ICS roms. In recovery I cannot install anything .zip it aborts. I cannot do an update.zip I tried stock kernels, I rooted but cannot get to flash in recovery. I read it my be the CWM having issues that can be fixed. I formatted my SD card with Minitool and added a EXT3 partition. I know Rom Manager doesn't work well with this phone or GB or whatever so cannot update CWM to the v.6.0.4.4 that some require. that I cannot install in recovery no matter what combination of tricks I try. So any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.

This is what has always worked for me:
1. Use Heimdall or Odin to flash stock GB (apparently you've already done this)
2. Use Heimdall to flash AntonX's Basic With A Twist Kernel (you might be able to use Odin or SGS Kernel Flasher (I always use Heimdall)
3. Once Kernel is flashed, you will have CWM recovery and can begin to flash other ROMs.
