Amazon App Store - Android Apps and Games

Why is it required a payment method for the give away of the day on free software? Its never done this to me until today.

Its done this to me also for the first time today! My US mastercard is expired, so Amazon might be refusing to use it for free apps. I still do see my CC in payment options, though...Oh well, off to try some workarounds that you will find floating around on XDA.

I have a card tied to my Amazon account and it isn't expired.

Any links? My googling and searching here doesnt turn anything of value up.

There is a method listed on modaco by Paul which allows you to get a valid US CC with a $10 sign up fee and you can refill as needed. There is also a second method where you use a fake ID generator to get name, addr, CC, etc. I tend to favor the former method as fake stuff can get your amazon account closed down.

I have a valid US CC on there. It doesnt expire for about 2 years and for some reason it still wont go through.
I wont use the ID gen either. I have a Prime account.

Did you set it as your primary payment method in your 1-click settings?

Its been there since Ive had my Prime account. I have 74 Amazon Apps and this is the first time its done this.

Well in that case, I would suggest you contact amazon.com. Theres no reason for you to use anyone of these other sketchy payment methods.

I've been using the IM+ trial for a few days. I liked it so i decided to buy it tonight. I went to the shapeservices page. Then to the im+ link. Then to purchase and buy. It didn't even ask me for my email address. What the hell is going on? i sent them an email but they haven't responded yet. It maybe that the Trail does not expire and you already had the 'full' version.
thanks for the idea. unfortunately thats not it. Its not "beggerware." it only lets me do 12 messages per sign in. and then it tells me i cant send anymore because its a trial version
I would assume if you paid by PayPal they already have your email, and to prevent fraud, will validate PayPal transactions *before* giving you a code or full version.
Also, not everyone uses a 24/7 e-payment system that sends codes instantly, there are many small companies and independant developers that process these manually themselves each day, so there could just be a delay.
Try emailing them quoting the email address your PayPal account is registered too.

Market & CC Misuse ??

Hello all,
In case this is misplaced here, my excuses, @Moderator: please move this to the appropriate forum.
I am new to the Android mobile phone world. Have purchased a new phone just lately and placed two purchases in the 'market' application. For this I am expected to inform my CC information to Google, which I did, expecting that Google was a place I am safe to place my data.
I just got a call from my bank requiring confirmation about internet payments from my CC, one small of 'less then 2 dollars' and then immediately a big one for services I have nothing to do with. I am very glad that the bank found out in time and I did not lose any money.
But I am now very afraid that the information of my CC got to these 'crooks' through 'market'. Anyone else has this experience ?
I am now left with the question how to purchase software for this phone.
I only know about 'market' which I obviously start to mistrust now.
Where can I purchase software or how is there a better way to pay for the software in market. In my phone I got only the CC variant proposed as payment.
regards and thanks for any help here,
Ruud
The Market uses Google Checkout, which means Google handles the transactions - the seller of the app is never given your credit card details (and any purchases through checkout should show up as "GOOGLE <seller name>" on your statement)
Hi Benjymous,
the sales are shown as Google. The lady from my bank confirmed these and I told her to let these transaction live without question, I really did purchase the software. The transactions which came today are not showing Google, these are 'crooked'.
I just started wondering that this fraud happened so shortly after I placed my orders with Google.
If nobody else had this experience, I will feel confident in placing my orders with my new CC after it arrives.
best regards,
Ruud
You could also, what i did, use a prepaid 'credit' card.
That IS an idea !
But I have to confess I do not know where to get these in Russia, will need a it of "asking around'.
Thanks for the feedback.

Ok, so the problem I'm having is that EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to buy an app that's not in the USA, my bank blocks the transaction because it's foreign. As the majority of the apps I'm interested in are European, this presents a MAJOR problem. Why is it so hard to buy apps, and why hasn't Google thought of a solution to this by now? On the ios appstore, I've never had a transaction blocked even once.
Is there a solution to this? Apparently my bank isn't willing to do some sort of "If it's under $10, we'll allow the transaction regardless" agreement. -_-

The problem is with your bank, get foreign transactions authorised.
until you get the problem sorted why not use applanet? Then when the problem is sorted you can just buy them from the market

He is right...and it is a very simple phone call to your bank. When I say simple, I mean a maze of queues that never end and when you finally get to talk to a real human, they need to transfer you. But once you get to the right person, simple.

Y'alls banks must be great because, as I have already said, my bank won't do something like that. I've asked and suggested, and nothing.

They won't allow you to make international purchases at all? What if you went on holiday?
Time to change banks.

Well, they have "traveling mode", but that just unblocks everything and basically opens you up to all sorts of fraud.
Two things seem extremely stupid to me:
1) Google doesn't centralize payments -- this would eliminate the problem altogether. Apple does this, so Google should be able to as well. It's not like this is a 3rd-party market.
2) My bank doesn't have some sort of "under $5" note that they can put on my account to allow any small-amount foreign transactions with no problem. If I had to travel and didn't have time to notify my bank, I'd be completely screwed whenever I got to my destination.

I can find loads of posts relating to restrictions on apple's appstore, where people aren't actually able to buy apps from other countries, even if they're both in Europe.
Don't you have fraud protection?
If I noticed that there was a dubious transaction on my account I'm able to call the bank and have them investigate.
Chances are they'll phone me up regarding it as soon as it happens (had that the first time I bought a € app from the appstore), and if it's fraud and I hadn't been irresponsible with my pin number, they'll refund the money.
What about using prepay CC ?
I can get prepay CC $10,$20,.... etc. at my PostOffice and use that.

Double charge from app market

I bought Omar Sharif Bridge (Zingmagic) a few days ago from the app market and checking my bank account noticed I had been charged twice. I sent a note to Google (no response) and Zingmagic (who says it's not their problem) and my bank (who says they need more information). Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to contact Google other than the generic "help" email? TIA - sheureka

Strange. One time I had a problem with an order and got 2 order confirmations but the second was automatically canceled. So it seems they usually have a mechanism in place to avoid double-charging!
After a series of emails I was finally credited for the extra charge. No clue what went wrong.

My AmEx cannot be used for foreign currency, i.e. I have to use a different CC if I want to buy a game in pound sterling or euros. Not sure if that has anything to do with your issue though...

Why is my Google Credit payment method declined?

I was trying to purchase game. Cytus to be exact. It's a cool music game and I wanted the full version for lyk $2. Now here's my problem. I have to use my debit/credit card to purchase it. My Google Play Credit has been declined. Or at least that's what it says when I try to purchase the game. It's just this game I'm seeing it with too.
I'm guessing the developer has blocked that payment method. If this is true, then what's the point of Google Play Cards if developers can block that form of payment?
Granted, I'll buy the game later this week. It's just it was bill paying week for me last week, so this college kid don't have an extra $2. That's lunch money. LoL!!
But that's all. I want to know why a developer would block Google Credit as a form of payment... Should I upload a picture?
Here's an image of my Google Credit being declined. If this is possible, then this will render Google Play Cards useless.
Thing's I've checked:
1) Made sure it was under my primary email address since I have multiple email addresses
2)Checked to see if it was the credit itself, but I can use my Google Credit to purchase other apps.
Bump. I am running into the exact same issue. I can't figure out for the life of me why it has crapped out.
The OP already stated why it was happening. Developers on the Play Store have the option to decline certain types of payments - one of which is the Google Credits. I guess there must be a reason for it - maybe a Google Credit isn't actually worth a full Dollar to the developer due to transaction fees or something?

At no point did the OP definitively state why it was happening. He/she merely guessed at why it is happening. I'm trying to find if there's an actual reason so we can see if it can be solved or not.
Anyways, a guy on reddit was talking about his app and I was trying to buy it. Ran into the same error message. I asked him if he knew why it was happening and this is his response:
"Thanks for the feedback, as far as I read it's because Google just support multiple currencies for developers based in some countries, it doesn't support for my country yet, that makes impossible to people pay with carriers and with gift cards ... Hope they fix it soon !"
So maybe this only happens when the app's dev team is based out of certain countries that Google hasn't established all of its services/support yet. I looked the dev up on Facebook and he's in Barcelona, Spain, FWIW. It's still a guess but hey at least we have some more info.
