[Q] Mounting Nexus S i-tunes - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to use i-tunes with my nexus S.
Already installed i-tunes agent.
When I plug in the device via USB, it says "USB connected" with a green Android display however, it does not give me the option to mount.
I dragged down the USB icon on the top and tapped "USB connected", and nothing happens after.
Thoughts?
Btw, I'm running Gingerbread 2.3.4
Thanks

Up
C'mon nobody uses i-tunes? My music is all messed up with drag and drop.

Your problem has nothing to do with iTunes.
Are you using any custom firmware on your device? Rom, kernel etc?
Have you tried reinstalling your device drivers on your PC?

My suggestion would be to download mp3tag and tag all your music correctly so it then displays correctly on your phone.

I doubt it's a problem with drivers on my PC.
Not using any custom firmware, kernel etc...phone is 100% unlocked. Did not buy it off a carrier.

So when you press the USB Connected notification, you should see an android guy and a button that says mount as storage. Do you mean that you don't see this?

Exactly. I don't see the message: "Select Mount if you want to copy files between your computer and your SD card."

I would suggest you begin eliminating variables.
Try on another PC. Try with another USB cable. Try another phone on with your cable and your PC. Etc.
Also it cannot hurt to download and install PDA Net on your PC. That is the easiest way to know you have the most recent drivers from Samsung installed.

i tune's?

check to make sure you have windows media 11 or higher on your computer. I had that issue. Running XP I had an issue but Win 7 it installed easily..
This is what I used
Motorola_End_User_Driver_Installation_5.1.0_32bit.msi
MotoHelper_2.0.49_Driver_5.0.0.exe
Windows Media 11
Also search around on google lots of people have had this issue and thats how I found my answer.. Also xoomforums.com is a good site for answers as well
OK so I installed wmp11 and it will recognize my xoom thanks for the tip. however now I cannot get ADB to work my device is there I have every sdk ever made down loaded and I have the moto USB driver mentioned installed but I can't get into a ADB to save my life.

Did you ever get this working? I have tried with USB debugging off and on, tried all the options under the default connection type. What else can I do to get this to connect to my Mac? I don't see anything that is labeled "MASS USB STORAGE".

[Q] HTC One X AT&T/Computer doesn't recognize phone

I have question.
I transferred everything to my sd card, there was a function to choose from my phone settings. Afterwards I connected my phone to my computer- which was always detected by my computer without a problem-to clean out some cache files from game folders, using total commander. While I was deleting the cache files I believe I accidentally deleted the sd card folder on my computer (which was associated with my phone.) I know this sounds kind of strange, but I do not have root access or any rights to deleting system files from my phone since my phone is locked because I have a contract with at&t. Now after resetting my phone 3 times, my computer fails to recognize my phone when I plug it in. When I plug my phone in, it charges but it is not recognized on my or any other computer for that matter. My computer states that there is an unknown device but not recognizing it as my htc. I located the unknown device on the device manager and installed all the drivers requested of me from the htc device sync manager folder and that still did not work. I have contacted htc directly and I have contacted at&t. They were not able to offer anything beyond doing another factory reset, which I have already done 3 times.
So my question, is there anything I can do? My phone works and charges it is just not recognized by my computer anymore and I cannot add music or anything. Since my warranty is up should I just unlock my phone and install the new android version? Any help or tips would be appreciated.

A Ubuntu or any other LINUX OS may recognize SD CARD... Give it a try!
btw when you connect it and i assume you have Windows does it even show a semi transparent icon of Removable Storage?
1.What OS are you using on the computer?
2. Do you receive any sort of error messages from the cpu?
I have heard of corrupted or missing usb INF files on computers causing this exact same issue.

1. Windows 7
2. No report errors about that. Computer says: "unknown device" and that is all. I located the unknown device on the device manager and installed all the drivers requested of me from the htc device sync manager folder and that still did not work.

Since you don't have root access I'm assuming you do t have supercid or s-off. You could run the RUU. It will completely wipe and restore your phone to an original state. See the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Scroll down and you will find a link for HTC OTAs and RUUs.
Or , as you mentioned at the end of your OP, you could just root your phone and install a custom Rom.
I hope I've helped in some way.

[Q] Nexus 5 Not fully detecting

Hi guys. I just rooted my nexus 5 and i used USBDview to uninstall all previous drivers as was stated in Wugs Toolit. Now whenever i connect my phone to the usb port.. it just says "this device can perform faster...." and thats it. I can't see the nexus device in My Computer or devices. i want to transfer files but i can't. please help!
I guess you rebooted PC. Then tried again. Can your device still interact with the toolkit? You removed drivers BEFORE rooting? Have you tried deselecting USB debugging (shouldn't be necessary) to see if you get access? I'm sure others who have had similar problems will help. In the meantime, you can transfer files using the network component on a file manager. I use Estrong but have used File Expert and Ghost Commander as well as Astro File.

Yupp i tried rebooting removed drivers, reinstalled etc. Even my Nexus 4 isn't detecting now lol! the MTP doesn't detect but PTP the camera interface works. Which is weird. I tried putting usb debugging on and off. Nothing helps.
I tried using another PC, and it works. Something messed up with my laptop i guess? Any solution.. other flash drives get detected but not the nexus.

Device Manager Says Samsung Galaxy Android Hone and under it Android ADB Device or something like that..
It doesn't say Nexus 5!
Exact same issue with my Nexus 5 and my VAIO Pro 13. Can't figure out what to do to make it works. Even tried reinstalling windows from scratch. No luck.

Cannot access phone storage on PC.

My OnePlus 7 Pro acts as Read-Only when I plug it in.
I noticed there is a folder in the OnePlus 7 Pro that has a Driver executable which installs the necessary drivers and I run that fine.
But that doesnt do anything and I cannot access my phone storage at all, that OnePlus folder with the drivers is all that shows up every time.
Yes I change it to "File Transfer", yes Ive tried all USB ports and even different UCB cables and cords. Going into device manager it seems windows is being a clown and cant seem to understand the drivers. Ive attached some pictures to show what I get.
Im honestly lost at this point as to what to do. Please help.
What does my computer show? Isn't it right there called storage D? If not right click run as admin and reinstall drivers and restart, plug phone in and choose file transfer..it may or may not pop up right away that's why need look at my computer

Yea I tried that and I get that "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (code 31). I mentioned that in my initial post and have a picture of it.
Are you using a USB cable that supports data transfer? The original cable from OnePlus that came with your device as an example.

I've had several phones that, for whatever reason, the files couldn't be seen unless I used PTP instead of the File Transfer option.
