I just received my Asus Transformer from Best Buy, yesterday and noticed it has android 2.2 installed. I was expecting to have honey comb. It almost looks as though I have a test unit. How do I get this thing upgraded?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
That's not normal. You can force phone UI but that's not a feature. Is it open box? Previous owner may have fooled with it. If its really 2.2 out of box and its truley a dev unit you may be able to snag a quick buck online
Check version in settings and post.

Go to the dev section, your device could be really useful to the community. Sadly you'll have to return your transformer though.
There is a link in one of the sticky threads with other people that received a TF with Android 2.2 as well. Go read up on it.
edit: link! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078840
I got it directly from Best Buy as soon as stock was available last friday. I didn't even realize that it wasn't Honey Comb, being this is my first tablet. I did notice immediately that there were a bunch of Asus test applications in the app list. I had read that the Asus EEE Transformer Tablet was going to be receiving 3.1 at some point in the future and while I was in the update screen, I noticed it said 2.2 as the version. I took a picture last night and attempted to post it to these forums, but because I rarely post anything, it would not let me do it.
Since it truly is a DEV unit, I'm wondering how much I could possibly sell it for.
I'd also be willing to help out the dev community as much as I can, but I can't hold onto this thing for too long if I really cant get it out of Froyo...
Screenshots
Here is the screen shots... sorry about the quality, but I figured it was legible. I obviously added a bunch of apps, but you can see the test ones included in there as well...
Wow that's neat, go post on the thread above. See what they say. You can potentially contribute allot to the community.

I actually was going to post in that thread, but I do not have enough posts to post in a developer forum. It gives me an error everytime I attempt to do so. A link to this forum would be nice, if you could do that for me.
On second thought, looks like you don't have enough posts either. DOH!
I got one of these units too. Not really helpful for devs now there are dumps. apparently a whole batch at the factory got wrong firmware installed. I had to send mine back..

1) ICS was confirmed to Asus to come this month.
2) unwritten rule of development. Do not ask for ETAs. It'll get here when it gets here.
to add to the post above
3) it is a written rule to search before posting
4) there is a thread called 'Asus once again confirms ics for february' right here within eye sight of the 'new thread button'
5) that's funny right there
Sorry my bad;/
To add to the above: Any release date you're told, even by Asus themselves, is a work of total fiction. They've already claimed just about every date you can imagine, and the only consistent thing is that there will be another statement from Asus within a week, contradicting the previous one.
Today, it's Asus France, saying "not til the end of February".
I'd guess early-mid March is optimistic, late March is realistic.
Funny thing you made a thread about this, considering this is the only thing which has been discussed in this forum since new years, and even before that.
You'd think it would be easy to find existing news on this

I agree. Make sure to search the forum before making new threads.
It will come when it comes
I really wish that xda would force new members to physically type the sentence, " i will use the search function before posting a new thread" in order to activate their account. This would drastically cut down on the number 1 most violated rule.
Can you get to the recovery menu? vol down and power?
If so grab one of the updates from the asus download page pop it onto your microsd extract it so that you see /asus/update/filename
reboot to recovery and that should do it..... if it doesnt take the file from /asus/update rename it EP101_SDUPDATE.zip and try again.

This will get Asus to open up:
Everyone send a message via Twitter to @Asus stating "Is the TF101 ICS OTA still confirmed for Feb 14?"
You know, they said mid Feb so we can hold them to the 14th. This will get them to fess up and give is a revised date. It will also cause them to wonder if @Asus gave the public a Feb 14 date at some point, second guessing themselves. Lol.

Hi there,
A few months back (pre prime) people were quite active on getting nvflash to work for SBKv2 devices. Now lately I barely hear news. I'm quite curious: is this dead? or is work still being done?
I really would love to get ubuntu running as atm I feel android is quite limited as a tablet OS.
Wrong section, I'm afraid...

This thread with it's replies confuses me. Was this initially posted in Android Dev? That would make sense
Nevertheless, the question still remains. I haven't heard anything about SBKv2. I wonder if it's not a lack of effort, but rather just a difficult, difficult task. You would have to ask the guys over at androidroot.mobi really...
I would like also to know were is the sbkv2.
2 questions:
- how was the first sbk key found? from what I understand it is saved in the hardware someplace that it is not readable, so there is no way it can be extracted. maybe the first was leaked from and insider as Asus? or was just the default for the tegra?
- any chance asus will provide an unlock tool for the TF101 with the one they will release for the Transformer Prime?
It was leaked.
I think it might be time to petition Asus for the rights to our device. It worked for the TF201 owners. And honestly, its ridiculous to say we shouldn't be able to know the SBK (and I'm willing to void warranty for that)
Thanks for the replies and yeh it's sadly as I feared. I guess we need to start a petition about it.
And about the mispost, yeh... kinda was in doubt when posting. As well the question IS development related my humble apologies for the mistake
btw seeing I have a dock-drain on my transformer I mailed em.. also with the inquiry about the SBK let's see how they respond
Hi everyone!
I´m also curious about that same thing, and I would be happy to sign a petition =P.

Just luck, he must have got an sbk1 device, there is no sbk2 nvflash yet.
Where I got mine, the demo unit was B50, while the one I got was BC0KAS, I had the option to get the demo unit but It was there since few months, and many many touched and played with it, which is not very good for me.
Hello,
First I would like to apologize for clogging up the forums lately but I am sure anyone with a faulty deice would know it can be a little hard. I am trying not to get in the way if all of you with pretty good devices. Having said that, I am pretty pedantic and I only really see the fault with the screen, I had it round my family and they say its fine . So although I like it, the novelty has worn off and I just don't think it quite suits my needs. I think I would be better off with something like a nice phone like a Gnex or an S3. So now I have to try and sell this. I was gonna try out the XDA marketplace but 6 months as a member isn't enough. So I will attempt here. 32GB Transformer Pad Infinity without the dock and I will even throw in a case for ideally about $450-$500 AUD. Now all you Americans will think that's too much, well remember we get the $100 price hike and no 32GB model out here. So I know this is a pretty stupid place to post because everyone has an infinity but I really need to get rid of it. Maybe I could make a really good friend and possibly someone could post on behalf of me. That would be really great. Anyway, I will let you guys be the judge.
Sorry if this makes no sense, I hate touch keyboards :-[

Hello everyone!
New here, been looking around, reading different things, and don't understand half of all of it. lol, sorry. I'm not familiar with all the different rooting, techniological specs of it. But I do know that this tablet is supposed to be the best on the market. I have a neighbor who is big into android and told me a lot and rooted my Gnex and I fell in love. Had an iPhone, but no where near what I could do with android.
I'm just trying to get a feel for it, and wondering what I can do to make it better, any apps or games that I need?
I got it from Best Buy, and wasn't sure how the return policy works. I know it's like 30 days, but how many exchanges?
There is a little bit of light bleed, but as far as I know, that is all that is wrong. No cracks, no wireless problems, etc.
Anything I need to look for to know if I should return it?
Jelly Bean is coming soon and I'm excited. Project butter is definitely nice.
I want to thank you all in advance for all your help. From what I've read on here, and all over the forums, you guys know your stuff.
I you pan to return it I'd perform a factory reset on it prior to returning it so no personal information is on the tablet.

Snicker, then what should I use, smoke signals?
I do have to admit they got irritating in JB. Used to be in ICS you could click them away when they popped up. Now, they open the menu screen/file manager when you tab themI want to read the right side of my screen, not the notification of the SD card I inserted on purpose, and thus know it's there.... It's rather irritating.
Still not a reason to start demanding other people to fix it. Or did you think this was the official Google Android developement forum?

Well, you could always use -- --- .-. ... . -.-. --- -.. .
I kinda hear where he's coming from though. When you have a dock and a sdcard in, there's no way to eject the storage in a single click. If we could swipe them away until redocked etc, it would allow for more use to be made of the expandable notification system. Supposedly, there is another update to the notification system in 4.2. Hopefully we'll find out what that entails on the 29th.
edit: if you disable the file manager, the click on storage won't open anything. You can always install another file manager. I know it's not ideal, just more of a workaround.
They currently cannot be disabled. I'd be thankful i you indeed would be less 'lazy' then all the others in here, and more knowledgeable to boot, and solve it for us mere mortals.
I'd recommend the easy way out: to unlock and install CM10, which doesn't have these notifications.

That was the sound o f you little pet theory going up in smoke. Just to prove it's not that easy to tweak the system.
I completely agree that the notification are pretty useless - my problem is with how he was "asking" for someone to stop being lazy and fix it the correct way - like anyone owes him anything.
It's nothing to do with being "lazy" - it's just something that is not that easy to change - it's seems that the OP thinks developers can wave some sort of magic wand to make these types of changes. There is a *lot* of time and work involved in changing something like this!
Thank all of the XDA developers for all of the work that they *have* done! If you show some appreciation (in terms of "thanks", or even better, $$$), that goes a long way in getting the developers to work with you and implement changes such as this.
