[Q] Stock Thunderbolt 2.0 Camera .apk? - General Questions and Answers

okay so I am running Das Bamf 2.0.5 and I amongst others are having some camera issues...i would like to know if anyone has been able to get the stock thunderbolt camera running on this port...if so, could one please provide me where I can find this .apk and get it working on Das Bamf 2.0.5 rom? I have downloaded the HTCCamera.apk and it is not the one that was on the stock thunderbolt...it is still kind of laggy and it has a different effect (dots) and also it has an icon that if you press it switches from back to front camera. to do that in the stock camera you would hit menu and it would open settings and you would switch it from there.
I appreciate any replies concerning the question i have and thank you very much!

[Q] Having trouble with the newest MIUI ROM for EVO4G

I have an evo 4g, and i just flashed MIUI ROM 1.4.8 which is the newest one, i think, and was wondering if anyone out there can fill me in on the wireless tethering as well as the qik app doesn't seem to have video to video chat available? The camera doesn't seem to have all the control options as seen on a video before flashing the ROM, and i can't seem to get APP or a weather clock widget?
Can someone please help me that is familiar witht his, i don't know if i did something wrong, or what? I am about to go back to my original stock!
If you want Sense, I'd flash a Sense Rom. I'm personally running MIUI 1.4.1 on my Evo right now & I like it a lot, but I don't like Sense very much. If you didn't wipe everything, you're going to have problems. If there are features you know are in that version, but you can't find them, try asking on the MIUI forums. If you want a clock/weather widget, MIUI Weather is pretty good. You can get it in the Android Apps forum or over at MIUI-Dev (you have an app for their forums, it came with the rom).
Also know that there are two camera apps - the MIUI camera app, and the AOSP camera app. I'm not sure if the video recording is the same in both apps or if it's different.
Good luck figuring it out. But as I said, if you really like Sense then I'd stick with a Sense ROM. If you have any other questions about MIUI/Evo stuff, you can send me a pm. I'm always happy to help :]

[Q] Questions about choosing a ROM...

Hey guys-
I'm getting kind of fed up with the performance/stability of my phone on stock, and I'm tired of waiting for the official 2.2 upgrade. So I'd like to venture into the world of Froyo ROMs.
I've watched reverendkjr's videos and feel comfortable doing this, but I don't really know which one to pick. I know there's Dexter's and khalpowers, and I guess a third MIUI one now, but ultimately I just want the best performance and stability possible. Also, its my understanding the khalpowers ones come with non-default skins on the ui- is there a way to change the skin to default android or to another skin? What else differentiates the ROMs from each other?
Sorry if this has been discussed before- I searched for a while on the forum and couldn't really find anything.
Try this: http://www.multiupload.com/BUDRPCK8EO StealBlueEpic Optimized. Excellent preformance. I'm with StealBlueEpic and I did optimized it myself and I'm pretty sure this will work the same way. As for the theme... yes! You can change your themes true updating'em true Open Recovery or Theme installer from Nandroidiani. I'm personaly using http://www.mediafire.com/?rx0f4443571d05d DarkFroyoRemix from 3rdstring and it just looks Awesome!

Most of the "guts" of the ROMs are very similar now (except the MIUI which I think is pretty different). If you prefer a stock-flavored ROM, you can try Dexter's 1.3 with the bugfix v3 patch. I think Khal's are the most updated at the moment--there are some things he's tried that I'm still evaluating before adding them to bugfix v4.
Thanks, guys. On Dext3r's now and LOVING it- faster, more stable, everything I was looking for!

I'm curious as to what parts of khal's roms are you still evaluating?

Nope. None of the ROMs based on Dexter's 2.2.1 have working gallery button. You can long press the camera shutter to open the camera, though. The FM Radio volume also doesn't work (but fwals has a modified FMRadio.apk so that you can change the radio volume from within the FMRadio app). I don't know about the status of the gallery button or FM radio support in MIUI.

Thank you, I hope it will be fix soon.
Gallery isn't working, that's right. But my FM-Radio volume does work. Just listening and changing sound volume.

Details please! Are you using fwals' FMRadio.apk or the FM radio volume works everywhere (lockscreen etc)?
How to find out whether it is fwals Radio?
I am using dexter's 1.3 and 3rdstrings "orange" dark froyo theme.
I will try it out later with lockscreen etc as I have no ear-phones on me right now.
Also there is rusmod for russian speaking users.
It also using everything that we can found/change.
The volume button only works within the FM app.
Doesn't work on lock-screen or elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure that would be fwals radio.

Which MIUI Rom?

Which MIUI rom is the "best" for the g2x? I'm a little bored of CM7 and would like to try something else.
Try them all...
Is there a main "official" one? The thing is, I don't know too much about it because I guess XDA doesn't allow it or MIUI doesn't allow it on XDA?
There is jface and whitehawks port so only 2 to choose from.
For me personally I prefer whitehawkx version stems to have all features and everything is stable compared to jface

On whitehawkx right now. No issues whatsoever. This is a stable as I've ever seen an ASOP rom.

I like the rom only reason i switched is mms pics i got were soo little i could hardly see them. I asked in 3 different forums and got no reply.
For users with tiny mms picture problem. Download GO SMS and set it to 1.2 MB and "Preserve Image Size" and you'll get good MMS pics.
Whats the best kernel to use with these roms?
Any cm7 kernel will theoretically work, I used faux though

I know, but miui has a beautiful messaging app, why should we have to use 3rd party bloatware..
I'm using miui4g2x 1.8.19 by jumaaneface
Seems to be a big step in the right direction over the very first MIUI ported ROM I tried.
WiFi Calling would make it perfect. Battery seems to be good.
I'm downloading 1.8.26 by Whitehawx now:
http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?t=1858&page=45
I'll compare the two and figure out which one I like better. I really enjoy the blue default theme by jumaaneface. I don't think anything has been changed or updated other then using the latest 1.8.26 build (no G2x tweaks).
Update:
I don't really see any framework differences. I don't like the Boot Animation of Whitehawx. The one from jumaaneface had a sweet MIUI boot animation. Whitehawx 1.8.26 has the WiFi Calling app but it isn't seeing my SIM Card (which is the problem they've been having)... so no extra benefit there.
Music isn't FCing on the newer build which is a plus. There is also a DND (Do Not Disturb) app which wasn't in the older rom.
I could be wrong but battery seems to be chewing through the new build. From 8am-2pm I was at 60%. I flashed the new rom and booted up at ~55% and within 2 hours I'm down to 40%.
I did flash 1.8.26 over 1.8.19 so I'm not sure of any apps I carried over, only the new apps and features.
Running stock MIUI with stock kernel and Go Launcher.
Battery is awesome i can last a full work day without having to plug in.
After using it for a few days, I'm pretty disappointed.
1. There's no "all apps" button.
2. No 2g/3g toggle built into toggles.
3. Can't even use PowerControl because you can't change its parameters.
4. Battery life seems worse than Cynogen.
5. When typing in URL, it will randomly close the keyboard.
6. Can't add custom shortcuts.

For starters use Go Launcher. They pair nicely. Else put a folder on the launcher bar and drop all apps in there.
Also use 8.19 because the latest one 8.26 killed my battery.
Why use powercontrol when you have every toggle in the pull down?
8.19 comes with swipe but the stock GB keyboard has a wonky dictionary. The fix is to just download the GB KB from the market and switch to it. It may also solve the hiding keyboard cause I haven't a problem with the market version.
The only downside I've found is that Maps doesn't appear to be intregreted very well with the stock browser. Usually I'll get a pop-up asking to open the link with the actual Google Map app which is easier to use on a mobile.
LG G2x - 2.3.5 MIUI Love
Asus TF - Custom 3.2
Whitehawks is great, never tried jumaaneface.
If you're a Wind user in Canada you cannot use whitehawkx MIUI because data does not work. You have to use face MIUI.
Switching back to CM7. MIUI is pretty terrible in my opinion.
miui 1.9.9
whitehawk version 1.9.9
Was using miui 1.9.2 and it ran great with minor issues like my led home lights would shut off and the only way to get them back was from the led setting or reboot. Sometimes my phone would just turn off thinking it was asleep but was actually off. I would have to pull the battery out to turn it back on. I downloaded 1.9.9 but haven't tried yet using weapon g2x 2.5 and so far everything is running smooth with no issues. I had to uninstall tw launcher cause it was force closing now everything is great.

[DEV] ICS Camera with preview.

Hi!
I'm a developer over at the GSM Hero section. I recently got the camera working decently on our phones with ICS, you might wanna try it out, I can't see why it wouldn't work for you guys too.
Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?d0ccs22yr447fby
Just put it in /system/lib/hw. You'll also need the proprietary libs in /system/lib/.
Happy Hacking!
I'll test it out

Any luck?
Bumpity bump
i can confirm this works
i ported the eris ics 4.0.4 base that mongoosehelix has provided in their forums to my heroc, since the copy of ics i have for this device wouldnt work for some reason (kept fc'ing when trying camera). i had camera preview, not jerky at all. looked pretty good actually. just did as you said op and copied the file to the lib/hw folder and bam good to go. taking pictures was another story, a combo of touching the onscreen button and hitting the trackball finally yeilded a picture. cannot say anything for camcorder preview, did not try it.
thanks for making this for us, and hopefully we can get an ics 4.0.5 rom when its time
That's awesome!
I've updated this lib since my first post, I removed the support for barcode scanning since it was leaking a lot of memory. Here's the new version: http://www.mediafire.com/?fp7tryck4qsh1zu
Hello,
Please expand on what exactly is needed from the Eris rom when you reference "proprietary libs". I have built the Evervolv HeroC rom from code several times now and adding your file changes nothing for me? The current build version for our HeroC's is Evervolv-Ignis-2.2.0b1.
Cheers
i ended up using dsixda kitchen to port the eris ics 4.0.4 rom, and the only file i changed afterward is added op's file in lib/hw. it just worked after that.
im trying to figure out how to get this working on matt/jaybob's 4.0.3 rom, copying libs to it and while i cant get a preview yet, it doesnt force close right away. it will sit with a black screen until you press home or back. so thats a start.
i suspect it has something to do with the annoying red borders that show up whenever something visual happens, is there any way to fix that?
if i figure this stuff out then ill post my work, thanks op and thanks matt/jaybob for your work getting ics on our trusty old hero's
Weird that you can't get it working on jaybobs/matts build. You should only need the lib posted in the OP and these:
libcamera_client.so
libcameraservice.so
libcamera.so
liboemcamera.so
I downloaded your ROM to take a look and those were all there so that can't be the problem... What happens if you replace all those with ones from our GSM Hero build or the Eris build?
i made an update zip with those libs from the hero gsm 4.0.3 build, and no dice. also tried the eris build libs on our 4.0.3 and no dice. there is progress though, it used to just fc right away, but now it stays at a black screen and doesnt do anything until i press menu or back. ill keep trying to get something working
While you are at it, could you post that Eris port of ics? I would love a new ROM to try.
i do not wish to steal op's thunder in this thread, so i am opening a new thread in android development. im uploading to mediafire as i type this so check it out and get your hopes up for camera lol

Liquid ICS v1.5 MR3 and Camera Zoom FX

Hey, all
I'm running liquid ics 1.5 mr3 on my thunderbolt and would like to use camera zoom fx. the problem is that all of my pictures in camera zoom fx come out like this
the part in the corner is from the last picture i took. anyone know how to fix this? i tried to clear the data from camera zoom fx and from the stock camera app, and i tried a camera patch.
thanks in advance.
Ditch Ics, go back to ginger bread until next(if ever)ics update. Camera driver and kennel need some work and the only people to get it right is HTC. Gingerbread + resound battery+ overclock and under volt=20+ hours of use and 4+ hours of display. I believe the only reason we can undercut so much is because this phone had every intent to go ics(hence more power for gpu and cpu to work simultaneously which dissent in gingerbread)
