We should not buy their 2nd gen phones which are barely worth the upgrade, not to mention i would not even do an even exchange for the new phone. The only thing they improved was Touchflo which will be ported over.
Seriously give us the same camera but without flash, the TP is the reason i did not buy a separate camera since it took picture pretty decently compared to the non flash Diamond which people say camera was HORRIBLE.
Then HTC understands that no matter which phone is out as long as it is a newer not necessarily better HTC PHONE it will sell. I would hold off till a decent upgrade is up, even you Euro owners as you are probably HTCs main customers.
This would not go over in the Desktop/ Notebook area or even the camera area. So we shall not allow it to go over in the PDA phone area. Would you buy a brand spankin new dell with a Pentium 4 with new casing and some fancy bells and whistles? If yes then i recommend you seek help.
Intel however DID do something smart, yes they now release a seemingly slower 1200mhz and 1600mhz chips BUT with newer technology which is so suited actually alot faster than my older Pentium 4 3Ghz pc. Not to mention it only uses abou 20 watts of power and gives 8hr battery life, compared to the usual 2 to 3hr.
Imagine if they put that in next gen phones along with win 7.
Well i kinda agree.. they haven't upgrade any of the spesifications (without the camera for diamond2).. still qualcomm and so forth.. well tf3d will be ported over as oon as devs get their hands on any roms and so forth.. well i must say that i'm a little dissappointed .. well the touch pro2 do look very very good when it comes to the tilt feature.. both phones do have larger screens.. which makes it (maybe) possibley easier to port over se xperia features like panels and so forth.. (well not that i care about panels).. well we just need to see some more reviews.. but i am a little dissapointed when it comes to specs..
All they have done is re-case the TP and slide the keyboard up. I certainly wont be buying the new TP 2. Not for that money anyway. i will stick with my TP.
im kinda worried they will have trouble porting the new tf3d since they are wvga now and we still dont have panels on our vga devices but hopefully the wonderful devs can make it work cuz landscape tf3d on the new ones looks so nice

What ????? My contract with AT$T ( for my Tilt ) is up in April and I am on the new TP II/ Fuze II as fast as they can say, $199 and a new 2yr contract.
Phones, like computers, do not get upgraded every year, every two years or so for me. I don't think that HTC expects everyone who bought a TP or Diamond last summer to run out and buy a new TP II or Diamond II , but I do think that these phones are aimed towards those of us who bought Tilts in fall 2007. After months of " sorry, we've moved on " by many of our Kaiser brethren, it will be great to flaunt my new TP II with my new " tilt " screen.
My friends and I think that the recession is why this phone came out. Same parts, nothing much changed, but charging more money. That's my theory anyway.
And no, I don't want it. Bigger screen without a beefier processor. Terrible Gimped Keyboard. No Flash. No front D-Pad. Nothing I want there.
Also I got my Fuze in November, and AT&T sure as hell wouldn't let me get a new phone so soon. American Contracts are stupid, but so is the price of phones without a contract.

i'm with you on this, main reason i didnt get a fuze is because i love my tilting screen. this provides me the fuze+tilt so i'm buying it day one att gets it.
same reason that I could care less about the extra features. Battery life is worse.
Only thing I like is the tilting screen, the integrated tf3d is awesome though, and the better resolution screen. That's it. No flash, no better camera, no wm6.5, no better ram or processor, etc. I hate the look of the keyboard.

HTC have said they'll provide WM6.5 ROM updates to both the TP2 and the Diamond2.
The Diamond2 is a smaller version of the Blackstone, and the TP2 is the love child of the TP and a Blackstone.
I got a Diamond last time round, and will probably be getting a TP2 this year for the tilty goodness and the gorgeous looking screen.
Okay I agree with some points like:
1. if you can put a 5 MP cam in the Diamond 2 why not in the Touch Pro 2?? There is even more room for it! Furthermore I saw somebody wrote that they took away the cam on the front, dude, check your eyes, the cam is still there man! Furthermore it has FM radio, read somewhere that somebody complained it didn't, well it has!
2. The rest of the features are a little the same, conference mode is cool and also the speaker phone option, nice for handsfree calling...
3. I love the fact is has a bigger screen! Great for navigating in the car, browsing etc....
4. I agree that maybe this model is aimed for those who purchased or got a Tilt in the summer/fall 2007 and who's contract is expiring this summer/fall which might explain why this model has a tilted screen feature. I really loved this feature and really miss it with my Touch Pro!
5. The design I find is awesome, it gets a 10 from me, face it guys, stop winding, they delivered on the design part! Especially the weight has been reduced as well as the thickness, its just awesome, give the people some credit at the design department will you?!
I traded my Tilt for a Touch Pro last Christmas, so since my contract is ending in the fall (after 2 years), I will surely get this phone, and take a 1 year contract with it just in case they come with a newer model next year that totally blasts away this one! I guess the model of next year will have:
- a better processor 1 ghz or higher for example
- 1 GB ram and 512 or more MB ROM ?
- same screen I guess, WVGA is awesome man!
- 5 MP camera
- I hope they keep the tilt screen feature....
- I like the new TouchFLO3D as well, awesome!
- for the rest, I'm contented with the features, just needs more power!
Furthermore, dudes, to be honest with you, WM 6.5 looks disgusting!!!! When I saw it it almost made me hurl! I will wait for WM 7 and bypass 6.5.... they can't be seriously contemplating on bringing that fugly OS system man!

Sure beats carrying both a laptop and a phone. I, believe it or not, think the fuze is too small, considering the weight. I was more comfortable holding my tilt than the fuze. I liked the "tilt" of the screen, also. No d-pad? I got over that with my omnia. I'll miss having the flash, though-- no htorch!

Yes indeed it does beat carrying two devices, but the fact that its a phone and not a laptop is what really bothers me about the size, although the TP isnt all that much smaller (well I just contradicted myself, didnt I ). But I do know what you mean about the Tilt being more comfortable, I also prefer phones that fit in my hand, thats why I hate such phones as the Motorola Razr, its just too dang skinny. Thats why I still favor my ETEN M600 over most 'normal' phones.
Maybe not having a D-pad is just one those things that you have to get used I guess, like you did with the Omnia, but Id still like to have a D-pad
Are you people under four feet? The Fuze feels nice in my hands. It's solid, it's built well, it's uniform in colour and design (especially with a black theme) and it's not flimsy in the slightest. I can feel it in my pocket too.
Now, I would like a larger screen, but everything else on the TP2 is not pretty looking. Also AT&T doesn't have 1 year plans.

In Holland we can choose between a 1 or 2 year contract, the difference is, with a 2 year you get it for free, with a 1 year you have pay a minimal amount... If in 2010 they come with a newer version with higher specs, then you have the choice to upgrade. I too feel that although the current TP is solid, compact etc. its a lot smaller than the kaiser/tilt and that did feel better in the hand. They can't please everyone but I do fine the design a lot better, but thats personal....
I was just looking at the TP2 on the HTC website, thinking that maybe or at least the processor speed was upgraded, but nothing. Not even the memory capacity. The only upgrade that I see is just the look of it, the "outside". So I guess I will agree on not getting one until they actually come with a better (not only looking), faster, bigger capacity and newer technology phone. Then I'll think about spending few hundred dollars on a new one.

So I am brand new to the whole smart phone market. My old phone took a poo and decided to not work so I figured it was a great time to upgrade and join the new era of smart phones.
I knew nothing about smart phones but knew Ihad to go with t-mobile so I could be undercontract with my gf.
HD2 was all over the the tv/internet so I thought it was the new badass phone so I figured I would just got for it.
When I went to the t-mobile stand they didnt have any because they were selling so fast. I looked at their options and got the mytouch 3g. Brought the phone home and had a blast with the android market, it was so easy to use. Couple days later I went back to buy a case for the mytouch 3g but when I got to the stand they said they just got 6 HD2s in and I could trade in for it. Since it was the phone I wanted I did it.
Took my new HD2 hope and started to mess with it, confused as heck, way different with windows mobile. The phone was fast looked amazing but was not as fun.
Now Im torn what to do.
I guess what Im really trying to do is get input from people who know the market and how these phones will go. Will the HD2 be able to compete with the android market at all? A buddy said Microsoft trys to hard with Windows Mobile to compete but they always fall behind when it comes to phones. Or will the Android market just stay way ahead of the curve?
Thats my rant, I just dont want to regret trading in my HD2 because its still so new on the market.
just got rid of mine...ive dealt with windows mobile too much...i loved the phone but without android on it i feel its not worth it...ive got android on my xperia x1 and love it...just wish i had the big screen like the hd2...i personally suggest you get the nexus one...its an overall better phone and has a fairly big screen along with android....your best bet for now atleast
The HD2 is really nice and fast, but honestly, android is still sort of BETA still. You know what i'm saying? They haven't established completely like Apple. evenutally , Android market will be filled with neat stuff.
I think android is way better than windows mobile.
maybe not apple by games, but eventualy and hopefully, android gets better games and graphics.
And your right, maybe HD2 isn't the "right" time to get it now because it's still new. The android market is still damn new too!

I agree I do like the Nexus one from what I have researched but the problem is its $530. Even though Im a new t-mobile customer I still have to get Googles t-mobile 1 person plan for the reduced rate when Im on a family plan atm.
if you are beyond the point where you can return your phone, I would be interested in getting it off your hands. I love the HD2. My wife has it and it is beyond fast. Flashed a custom rom on it and even the splash screen is cool.

Especially to the state-of-the-art part. The HD2 has a better screen than the Nexus One. The HD2 has more hardware RAM than the Nexus One.
The choice is simply Android OS on the Nexus One vs. WinMo on the HD2. The Nexus One's only hardware advantage is the noise-cancellation via the auxiliary microphone, and the trackball that not many actually use. Screen and hardware RAM are probably a bigger deal though.
The EVO 4G is probably the only Android phone from HTC worth getting right now since it doesn't have the god-awful Pentile AMOLED display they use in the Nexus One, Incredible, and Desire.

the screen is a matter of opinion, and it sounds like you've been reading too many tech blogs.
i've compared them both, and i prefer the screen on the Nexus, and so has everyone else that has compared their screen to the AMOLED display on the Nexus. (providing you keep it out of the sunlight)
both the Nexus and HD2 have 512MB of ram(yes, i'm aware the US HD2 has slightly more), and Android is far better with memory management then WM is anyway, so that's a non issue.
and i used my trackball all the time. and who can complain about an extra hardware feature? just dont use it if you don't want it. a legitimate complaint would be the capacitive buttons. those are a PITA until you get used to them.
to the OP, buy the phone you want. but if you liked the mytouch you will LOVE the Nexus. there is absolutely no comparison between the two.

screen size does matter!
i used sony x1 with 3" screen, then Acer neotouch with 3.8 screen, now hd2 with huge 4.3" screen! you can see the different! bigger is better! just try to upgrade your pc monitor to bigger size, and you will see alot more comfortable to the eyes!

All HD2s have 576MB of RAM, not 512MB. The only exception is the Prototype HTC HD2s (Pro.Three) which have 384MB of RAM or thereabouts.
The Nexus One's screen is inferior not only in terms of size but also in terms of color accuracy, sunlight legibility (as you mentioned), and effective resolution. It possesses higher contrast and is comparable in terms of viewing angles, battery life, and power consumption. Yes, I have also seen both devices -- I owned the Nexus One previously.
Also forgot to mention the Nexus One has a bigger battery, but I'm not sure you'd be able to tell with what I've seen.
Don't get me wrong, the Nexus One is a great device. But there is no excuse for arguing the fallacy that the Nexus One is superior hardware to the HD2 -- this is simply not the case. That is a matter of software alone.
Ok so I'm fed up with the garbage that us Canadians have in terms of WP7 launch devices. I hate that every year we end up with the crap phones while T-Mobile and others get all the great ones.
So I'm considering ending my 10 yr run with Telus and reducing my monthly bill in half by trying out either Mobilicity or Wind Mobile. At the same time I have the additional benefits of choosing from any of T-Mobile's phones for use here.
So that leaves me to choose now between the HTC HD7 and the Dell Venue Pro. I am completely up to date on the rumours, bugs and issues each device has. I just need to know for all of you which device you think I should choose (even if it means waiting until Jan).
Btw I am a previous owner of the HD2 and loved it aside from the glitchy OS. And currently using an iPhone 4 as my temp phone (barf).
I was waiting for the DVP but got an HD7 because it was available and I think support would be better with a physical store to perform exchanges. The DVP has obvious advantages like the scratch resistant glass, keyboard and AMOLED screen but even with the shortcomings of the HD7 like battery life, pink tint on the camera (which I can remove using Windows Live Photo Gallery) and LCD screen I am enjoying the OS immensely. Even the recent antenna issue I can cope with and I have ordered a silicone case.
The big unknown is if Dell can deliver a device that works well enough that it would only need a few software updates to fix and until they release it no one can tell. But for those who have had both the DVP seems to be the preferred choice so if you can wait it may be the one for you. Follow the #dellvenuepro tag on twitter to get the latest news and user impressions, best source of info on the DVP vs HD7.
I would say Dell Venue Pro, despite all the current launch problems.
The Dell has a great Amoled screen + Qwerty keyboard.
EDIT: I thought the Dell Venu Pro had flash NAND storage. Apparently not.
The Dell's memory is provided completely by SD card, there is no NAND memory onboard. And while the HD7 camera certainly isn't the best available it beats the Dell in irts current form hands down.

I will edit my previous post.
T-Mobile doesn't have the Dell Venue Pro, they only have the HD7, but I find the HD7 to be the choice phone even if the Dell were available. The HD7 is basically a beautified HD2 with it s black-chrome surround, silver mesh inserts at top and bottom that also conduct sound from the rear speaker. The kickstand is superior to the one on the HTC Evo and the overall build quality of the HD7 is superb. Granted, I had 3 previous HD7s before the one I now have. The first three were faulty and now I have one that is 99.99% perfect. The .01% shortfall is due to a tiny dent or deformity along the rear edge of the chrome surround. If it wasn't for that, this would be a perfect phone.
However, even with the 3 faulty HD7s prior to this one, I still chose to have one because of the gorgeousness and style as well as the excellent hardware specs. If the Dell's AMOLED is anything like other AMOLEDs, I wouldn't have chosen it because of the lack of small text detail. AMOLED is great for movies and pictures but poor for text detail. I saw a Samsung Focus at a local AT&T and was stricken by how much less attractive the main page tiles were in comparison to the other two offerings which used regular LCD tech. The tiles of the AMOLED seemd to have color bleed or a lack of sharpness to the pixels.
If you are mainly into movies and pictures on the device, the Dell might be more pleasing for you with its AMOLED. If you are more into an information device, where text definition is important, the HD7 would be the better choice. I love the style of the Dell, but I love the style of the HD7 more.

I've been using the HD7 for a bit over a week now and it's really a well built device.
I should warn though that it has a major flaw - the battery. My phone was fully charged this about 7am this morning, no calls and just 10mins of internet browsing. Battery died at 6pm. I'll be swapping it for the Venue Pro when that comes out.
I should warn that I have no idea how the DVP battery will hold up, but as a starter, the smaller screen will help.

To conserve battery life, turn off the GPS. I do this and only use GPS when it's needed...like in the car, where I have it plugged into power. Major battery saver.

how are you going to swap it? By the time the dell is available, you will be past t-mobile's 2week return window....
I wanted the dell VP until it had all the launch problems. I think HTC is a better mobile phone manufacturer.

Seems like the poll is leaning towards the DVP but comments seem to lean towards the HD7..
I used to own the HD2 so I remember all too well the battery issues. But I was the guy with the extra charger on my desk at work at left it plugged in all day long so I quickly became used to it. I do miss the larger screen especially when compared to this temporary 3.5" screen.
Viewing pictures, surfing the net and playing games (so mostly media) would be where most of my time would be spent on this phone. Really the only thing I like on DVP over the HD7 is AMOLED screen and believe it or not the styling.
Can anyone say for certain whether or not the screen on the HD7 is actually an improvement over the HD2? And if so if it would be a noticeable improvement?
The screens on the HD2 and HD7 are identical, I have Transformers on both devices and pausing at the same screen shows them to be using the same screen.

Maybe the bigger issue is that I'm impatient and feel like waiting for January for a DVP only to POSSIBLY find out it's still plagued with more issues.

I've never seen specs or reviews claiming the HD7 has a SLCD. Do you have a link I can look at?

It's my opinion and if I had to choose, I'd choose to wait. Plain and simple. I'm hoping that ASUS WP7 device shows up on T-Mobile sooner or later.
If I was able to make that choice, my snap decision would be the DVP, based almost solely on how much I really like how it looks in pictures. Pure liquid sex.
But then, I'm really used to having a good physical keyboard (Tilt2), and anything with a physical keyboard innately calls to me.

As for the SLCD screen most of the spec sheets I read show the display as having that. Not saying it's fact just saying that's what seemed to be advertised. If you google "HD7 SLCD" you'll find quite a few matches..

But you wont find it listed on HTC's site, which is what would matter most. And those sites stating that it has SLCD probably just copied from one another, thats the way the internet works these days. I do agree on one thing, the screen size does make it a lot easier to type on and the autocorrect and prediction also add to the ease of text entry. I have posted on forums from my HD7 more in 1 week than in the 6 months I had the HD2.
As you say, you could end up waiting for the Dell only to find out its still got huge problems, but that may be the best option since at least that way you would have the info to make the best decision. 2011 is only 4 weeks and some days away, so its not really that too long to wait.
Training device at the story, had my share of time with it today, checked it all out.
Pretty nice keyboard and tilt mechanism, hardware felt awesome in the hand. Software is definitely behind though, multitasking is a no go, software really isnt there for landscape yet which is a bummer with the keyboard.
Netflix worked great however.
Just posting in case anyone here had planned to switch from the epic, I can answer any questions about it too.

Oh don't get me wrong, it's very fast, everything loads really quickly.
Sometimes the transitions get annoying when you're just trying to be done with something..it's pretty though.
The worst culprit is the weather in the HTC hub, switching between cities does this whole cloud moving crazy popup thing, it looks pretty cool but takes about 5 seconds and could be very annoying if you're just trying to check the weather in a hurry.
Apps load really quickly, Netflix took about a minute to load up the app and get into a movie on 3g, quality seemed pretty good.
Battery life seemed good, although I had no percentages to work with, it didn't seem to drain that bad.
One thing I noticed though: In the marketplace, larger apps like 3d games can't be downloaded over 3g, it says "Wifi or PC Connection Required"
Really looking to try a WP7 phone, so thanks for this! Did you get a chance to test out the camera, and was the screen any good?

The camera I only took one picture, it seemed pretty clear! I'll try it more tomorrow and let you know.
The screen and type were very crystal clear, it's SLCD and looks absolutely fantastic, not QUITE the Epic but very good.
Also did you have a problem with the screen being 3.6" instead of 4"

that looks sexy but um yeah.... not into that whole hinge tilt stuff and windows phone 7 is just not hooking me.
I actually really like the tilt feature. It works like a kickstand for the screen so you can use your phone as a desk clock better or watch movies with no hands. I wish there was a tilting android phone.

Reminds me of the TP2 keyboard/tilt. That was the best, most responsive keyboard on a phone I've had.
I'd gladly trade my Epic keyboard for an HTC one... you know if it had a 4" SAMOLED screen...
I love the look of this phone it's just like a perfect hardware specs tp2 and that tilt screen is the one and only thing I miss from my tp2, but WP7 can suck it!! If only HTC released this the time the epic was out and had android on it I would of got this!!! I love the speaker on it too, really sexy phone!!

Android Trolls have no reason to post. If you are not here with interest in WP7 or the Arrive, then why are you here except to voice your pointless opinion?
Anyway. I also got my hands on an Arrive for a good bit. One thing about the slider, make sure you don't judge it until you remove the clear plastic protector on the back of the screen part of the slider (the back of the screen with the keyboard out). Until that is removed the slider will feel very wobbly, stiff, or overall crappy. Same thing was the case for our Touch Pro 2's.
The overall feel of the phone is really solid and well made, like the TP2 it feels solid but with the metal back and an actual glass screen it feel even higher quality. (Plus I love the way the screen angles off into the 2 grill parts on the top and bottom.)
The OS performed just as expected with performance never showing any sort of hiccup or slowdown. 3G Speed in the area was a bit poor due to it being a highly populated area that Sprint throttles. (Not a problem where I live). It was not a problem for normal use and web browsing but it did take a hit on Netflix playback, downgrading the quality to extremely low but still viewable quality I suppose.
As mentioned earlier/elsewhere, the one thing that is bumming me is the 3G download limit on large apps. I know it is the norm for most of todays phones but with an Unlimited plan, limiting my download size to 20MB is a real bummer. I hope there may be a way around this in due time. Sucks that they expect you to pay for another service while paying for the same type of service? WTF!?
I did not test this part of the phone out though since I did not want to set it up under my live account.
Other parts of mention was the seamless use of Bing search for various things. Unlike on the TP2 where you click on bing, wait a minute, have to quit back out because you forgot to run quick GPS to keep the sat info updated and of course it never automatically updates on its own, back into Bing and waiting another minute, type in what you want to search for (or click on the appropriate button), it searches and gets you what you may want, you click on it, wait a bit to get options, then finally to what you want. If using the Voice Guidance you have to hope it doesn't crash or lock up partway into your trek.
With WP7 it seriously was click button, 3 sec later your there, type or say what you want, it searches for another 2-3 sec, bamn various things related to your search and picking one only takes another 2-3 seconds. Fast, easy, works.
Sure Voice Guidance isn't in Bing for WP7 yet, but it is coming and till then Sprint gets their own Voice Guidance GPS that actually works ok as well.
There is only 1 Problem (Seams to be lightly known) with the phone. Wifi. Similar to the Video Demo I saw of a GSM UK 7 Pro, the wifi would get stuck trying to connect to a network and eventually give up. In the video he mentioned a hard reset fixed this but being as it was not my phone I did not test this. This looks to be a simple HTC bug and I would guess it would be fixed in a side update separate from other updates soon. Still, a bummer seeing how the phone isn't out yet and it's GSM brother has the same issue.
Either way I pre-ordered my phone and plan to enjoy it. The only thing is my upgrade isn't due till June 14th and well, that is a long way away. So I may buy the phone outright and just learn everything I can for a month. It is not that I cannot afford it, I just don't feel like paying $450 for any phone.
$35 to rent the phone for a month isn't a bad deal though. Did this with the HTC EVO. 4G was Awesome, but the Android os, while powerful, just didn't feel finished/polished similar to WM6.5 Roms.
Sure WP7 does lack a few features we have all known and loved on WM6.X and Android, but for what I use the phone for most, paired with the fact that I am getting sick of the phone having weird glitches, lockups, temporary hangs, slowdowns, and overall things either not working or working weirdly, (also on Android for this), WP7 looks for fix that for me. A phone that does all of the features it offers now and does them well. I used to be a huge tweaker for these devices, but after a while, the time it takes to make the phone work 100% takes way too long these days and especially on the old 500mhz chip, it is just not worth the fuss anymore. I have an HD2 to tinker with and use for certain Apps, and a Dell Axim X50v for my other WM entertainment needs.

Anyone considering this phone? The Nexus S is my first Android phone which I purchased in December of 2010 and to be honest its been average. Browser and keyboard lag is tough to deal with. When the phone works it's great though.
My biggest issue is typing. Coming from blackberry I just can't type efficiently on this thing and I think the Qwerty on the my touch 4g slide might help. Just wanted some opinions from people who have used multiple android devices. Thanks.

its going to be a very nice phone. I think if you are a keyboard type person there wont be a better option. Itll run like a beast too.

Only bad thing about getting the mytouch 4g sslide is that it won't get the newest updates like nexus line...I agree tthough about android keyboard ... nexus s was my first android phone and only thing I don't like is the browser and keyboard ..I came from an iPhone so I was used to on-screen keyboard

More to the point: Is this a retail phone, just like everyone gets? Does S-OFF mean that we'll be able to root and flash it at launch? I keep trying to find confirmation that the bootloader will be unlocked (or not) at launch, but this is the closest I've found, so far. Is there any official word from HTC or T-Mobile somewhere?

I've had the 3g sllide for some time now and i like it it's a decent phone but still, newer, faster, more hardware cap. is simply better... point blank period. I'm excited for the upgrade since i really dont want to leave the mytouch family and it's a must that i have keyboard. But the specs are looking good!, and since the glacier has achieved S-off i fairly certain that this will achieve perma-root about 3 hrs after official release (chuckles to self) if not sooner. I'm excited for what this forum will produce along with my very own venture into ginger bread app development

This phone looks pretty sweet. I had the MyTouch 3G Slide and the MyTouch 4G. Both were great phones. This phone is pretty much a MyTouch 4G with the internal components of a Sensation and the keyboard of a 3G Slide. I prefer the screen and sleekness of the Sensation but if you need a keyboard I'd be all over it.
I suspect this phone will be S-OFFed once AlphaRev finishes the Sensation/Evo3D tool. Otherwise you're waiting till at least September for the official unlock.
It's shipped S-ON sadly , that mean's we can't flash custom roms correct ?

I just received my Khaki today. I pre-ordered on the 19th.
Pretty amazing device in my book. It isn't perfect but, coming from a 3G Slide it's a monster of a phone.
The Good:
Far and away better keyboard. It has a chiclet like feel to it and is much easier and faster to type on than the 3G Slide with plenty of feedback.
The screen is very pretty, easy to read, and I have no problem with the slightly lower resolution as it does not hinder the phone in any way. Very easy to type on the screen too. I was pretty taken back at how incredibly accurate the sensitivity was compared to the 3GS
Nice camera, it isn't an N8 nor will it replace my T3i but, it does offer partial manual controls and you can adjust the exposure +-2 stops for camera and video. Hopefully an update or hack will let you control shutter speed in the future. FYI, ISO is from 100 to 800. Images look a little grainy to me but, I'm coming from a T3i for comparison which isn't very fair.
FM radio is a nice touch and it works just fine.
Call/Voice quality is very good. It sounds better than the 3GS as a whole. It is louder and clearer with less echo and background noise. It does sound a little harsh at high volume but, still better than the 3GS. Let's just say it isn't a Glimmer but, that phone sounds better than any land-line I've heard so again not a fair comparison. However, I was complimented on how much clearer my voice was on the other end of the line and I could hear the other person a lot better than before.
Reception seems/felt a little better than the 3G Slide. Not a great deal better but, I was getting 2 bars of 3G (which oddly shows up as 4G) in a location where I normally get 1 bar. Also, I didn't have to manually set the phone to WCDMA for it to pick it up.
HTC Flashlight app is in here and it uses both LED's
Wifi Hotspot widget is in here too.
Trackpad button thing is so much nicer than the 3GS and it has this neat illumination thing that goes on when it's charging. It isn't bright though, you almost need to be at an angle to see it, it's very subtle but the coolest thing ever.
genius button still says "please wait" but, it's infinitely faster than the 3GS. LOL. if it wasn't I'd probably rip someones head off.
Grip of the phone is excellent, atleast with the Khaki. It feels sooooo good in your hand and isn't going to slip and fall near as many times as the 3GS or many other phones I've owned before. It has a good weight to it and is much lighter by itself than my 3GS with a case.
Feels like a sturdy phone and does have some good construction around the frame for protection. There is also metal around the lens itself as there should be.

The Not So Good:
Well, I'm worried about scratching the camera lens. I don't know that I ever will and I'm assuming it's made of good glass but it does protrude a bit on the back. There is metal all around it for protection but all it would take is that one certain drop to smash it.
The camera could be better. I mean it does pretty well but, images are just a little grainy to me and I would like to see full manual controls or at least shutter speed control. I don't think there is any real zoom, just digital and I have no idea who makes the lens.
Video recording could be better as well. There is some rolling shutter but, even the DSLR's have that. To me it didn't look like the camera was shooting at 24fps, it didn't look as low as 15 but it didn't look like 24 or 30 either. I could be mistaken about the whole thing though as it could just be that when you record you are only seeing 15 fps but, when you playback you see the full frame rate. I really need more time to play with the phone to give a definite opinion/verdict here. All that being said there is a lot of potential here with the software. I also wonder if using a class 6 or higher memory card will help as well.

So I feel a little fooled about the size of the screen, however it is a good bit taller and the higher resolution and cleaner looking image quality, partially make up for it. I don't feel like "man, this screen is too small" I feel more like "well, it would be nice if it really were a tad wider but, it looks so nice and is a lot taller so I can't really complain"
Bloatware/Bloat. Not really a fault of the hardware but, I do hope HTC slims down sense footprint, and I could do without some of the T-mobile apps that no one will ever use.
Lag. There is some but, I hardly notice it enough to care and I'm sure that will be fixed once we get an update/hack/rom or two.
Final Thoughts
I'm keeping this baby. There is no way I'm sending this back unless there is some kind of major hardware failure or something. There just isn't anything else at T-Mobile that covers all the things "I want" in a cell phone.
