i see your using an HD7, what carrier? any mods you've made?
make sure you have data turned on. pic messages need your data connection to work. wifi won't cut it and for usa tmobile, most times 2g (edge) won't cut it either.
I have t-mobile. All my data connections are on. 3g connection on and data on. Still don't work

you are able to access the internet without issues? If so, you need to contact tmobile.
Hi tperson1,
I had exactly the same problem on o2 uk.
This lasted for nearly two months. Phone was not updated at the time.
I was originally able to send and receive picture messages when I first got the phone, but this broke after about a month. I went to the o2 shop and asked for advice. Their response was that it was either because the phone needed updating (which wasn't available at the time) or their was a hard wear problem. They informed me that they would happily send it to HTC for repair, and provide a cheap replacement phone for the month or so it would take. Understandably I wasn't happy with this.
I then contacted o2 customer services who offered a swop for a new model. They then said that HTC advised changing the sim card first and sent me another to try before a swop.
However, the problem appeared to resolve itself before I received the new Sim card. I received the feb update shortly after and touch wood I have not experienced the problem since.
Hope that helps.

1st post so Hello to everybody
Phone: HTC Sensation (not rooted)
Provider: 02
Platform: 4.0.3
HTC Sense ver: 3.6
Shoe size: 9 (UK)
Updated to ICS recently and started to notice I was receiving texts late, usually 10 mins after they were sent to me. This is intermittent and there seems no reason as to why that I can find.
Uninstalled Handcent and installed Go SMS Pro and seemed to do the trick for a few days but then it happened again.
Uninstalled Go and used stock SMS and again worked OK but I noticed it again a couple of days ago.
Rang O2 and did Sim wipe, reentered SMS centre no and still got delay. Also tested SIM in another phone and works fine, no delay. They said it is a phone fault then.
Called HTC and they advised that I had a corrupted update and that I needed to factory reset, which I have done. Unfortunately the problem still persists.
Spent the afternoon sending myself texts and some go through and some do not.
I do have poor service at home, 1-2 bars, but this was never a problem before the update.
Other than that I had the "Android is Updating, Optimising Applications" issue but his has now cleared.
Sometimes I do not receive messages at all and have to restart phone, once or more, to get messages.
HTC want me to send the phone in for repair but thought i'd see if can get any help from you lovely people first!
HELP PLEASE!!!
To update: Got a new SIM yesterday and thought/hoped it had sorted it but no joy.
Anyone got any tips? I'm wondering if it could be an app clashing with ICS?
Had the same problem, went into the Of store thinking it was a sim problem, replaced my sim card with a new one. But still had the problem. I switched from ICS rom to rom, radio to radio, but no luck. So I gave up and called HTC, they told me to do a factory reset which was just a waste of time and eventually sent it off for repairs.
Got it back, upgraded to the OTA ICS and all is well.
So to sum up, just call HTC and tell them your problem, tell that you've done a factory reset and they should schedule a repair for it.

Well mate, I don't think it's an app clashing with ICS. If that's the case it should have worked when you installed GO SMS..
So my suggestion would be that as you are on stock ROM, the most astute option for you will be to send the phone to HTC, and they will figure out the problem for you!
Interestingly I popped Wifes T-Mobile SIM in and factory reset and factory reset and updated.
So far with her SIM in all is good, Texts going through in seconds.
Gonna keep it in there for a bit and then put mine back and see what happens.

Why don't you try your SIM in another phone and see how it goes?
Put the O2 SIM back in and back to late messages so definitely something to do with O2.
Looks like gonna have to send it in Mon/Tues and revert back to me Wildfire which i've just unlocked. Over to the Wildfire forum to see if there are any decent ROMs available and for an idiots guide to rooting it!
Good luck!

It seems that it is a fault at O2s end after all.
I'm fuming, spoke to them twice last week and they fobbed it off and sent me to HTC so had to do factory reset etc, taking hours and causing untold grief. Where if the she'd of done her job and looked at he fault properly the test message report she sent me would of told her that the fault was with the network. Not to mention the work i've lost out on!
Had to switch phone to 2g and messages come through fine and they've raised a fault for an engineer to check at local mast(s) and get back to me in 5 days.
My first One X was showing this "Preparing SIM" message periodically and I eventually had the phone replaced when connections to Rogers service would drop out. In order to reconnect a reboot was required.
My 2nd device although stays connected to Rogers service just fine but I am still getting the "preparing SIM" message ever now and then.
The Rogers support people could not say anything about the message but I did have them put it on my record that I am experiencing it in the even that there is a problem after the initial no haggle swap period has passed.
If you are also having this message come up I would suggest you call into support and have them note that you are having this issue. Not that you will need to have the phone replaced but in the even you do, it's there on your account.
Has anyone else seen this on their phone?

Hey i used to have this problem. When i was using Sense.. Try using Apex Launcher and let me know if you have the problem still.
I've got the issue from your first phone. Been wondering if it's a hardware or a software issue. Seems to happen more often when I am farther from toronto, getting a worse lte signal. Could be anecdotal though. Don't know if I should exchange it for another one
Using apex since day one

I have an AT&T hox...the same thing happens to mine. Also, on the notification bar, it's has a triangle with an ! in it and next to it says something about restricted access. At first I thought it was they were getting Jacksonville fl ready for lte...nope.
Same thing on mine. Was on the phone with Rogers today and after disabling LTE on my end and switching to HSPA+, my data has returned and is working normally now.
Beamed from my Rogers HTC One XL
just got off the phone with At&T and HTC technical support...their answer was
huh? Never heard of that...most probably sim card reader going bad...
Wtf...and it just did it again. Going to return this phone for another one tomorrow.

So, do you get the replacement Artimus? How's your replacement?
Last time I went to replace mine, the manager give me a hard time. He replace my sim card, but I still notice it at least once a day. Now, the situation is bad because this phone is out of stock.
Please let us know your experience. Thanks...
Update: I have since done a factory reset and haven't experienced the issue since. LTE is working fine on Rogers now too.

I recently bought this phone about 2 months ago.
Just got done checking several emails while on 4G. Put the phone down for a minute. Picked it up and lost all signal dealing with the mobile side. It works on WIFI but when it comes to sending texts, making calls or anything that deals with mobile it doesn't work. It says "No Signal Limited service Emergency Calls Only". It has been like this for the past hour and a half. I am currently located in Dallas, TX and I know that we are not going through any outages right now since I used my work phone to call my father's cell which is the same network as mine. If anyone has a clue what is going on, please state. Thank you very much!
It is running Android 4.0.4.

I have tried removing the microSIM card and turned off my phone and left it off for about 15 mins. Nothing changed.
Tried changing it to airplane and leaving it for a bit and nothing changed.
Do you have the option to try this microSIM on a different unit, not yours?

I bought it off somebody from Craigslist about two months ago.
I don't think it can be blocked since this is a different microsim and number.

I went to a local T-Mobile store and they didn't know what was wrong either. Switched to a new sim and it still didn't get signal. Four different people took a look at it and no one knew what was wrong. They just ordered me a replacement phone and should be in a week. I just paid $20 for the shipping.
Now does T-mobile replace phones with refurbished phones or with new ones?

Consider yourself lucky. It sounds like the guy you bought it from scammed you. Keep your fingers crossed that T-mobile gives you that replacement phone.
Hey guys,
[n00b question]
I didn't want to start a new post, and admittedly I haven't done a thorough search through the One S forums for this issue I'm having, so forgive the thread hijack. I recently acquired a One S (unlocked, unbranded, 'global' version) and after receiving it and placing the SIM in the device -same microSIM as from my SGSIII- the phone acts crazy. I go from bouncing from 3G to H and back several times a minute. I know that can't be right, because I do not have this issue on my SGSIII. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
Also, first time posting in this sub-forum, so please go lightly on me.
[/n00b question]
Thanks guys.

Thought I was the only one and that may SIM card was maybe broken but it seems it's an hardware bug or issue.
Eventhough the first 4 months I never experienced this issue but lately is happening as often as 1-2 per day. Using flightmode doesn't help, shutting down the phone neither only a restart temporarily fixes the issue till the next time. Really annoying since I use this phone when I'm on standby and so I need to check every few minutes to make sure I still got a network connection...

My phone seems to have improve after JB update.
I got the same problem with my HTC One S!
1) I check the ESN and it comes available not reported stolen.
2) I did Factory reset and clear all storage as well = nothing!
3) When i go into phone settings it reads the sim card because you can get the phone number and everything other info from the carrier but nothing! Even i change from GSM/WCDMA Auto to GSM only and back and picks up the Network but it doesn't let me connect..."Your SIM card doesn't allow connection to this network" Message... im giving up guys, any help??
Yesterday, I received a new StraightTalk MicroSIM (ATT compatible) for my new Nexus 5. I have been using a StraightTalk T-Mobile compatible one that I used in my old phone. I activated the new SIM, using the automated phone system. This morning I saw that my phone still had no service. That is, zero bars, I cannot make calls or text. Of course data doesn't work either. I logged into my account and it said that the transfer to the new SIM is complete. So I called StraightTalk and was transferred 5 times to people who did the same trouble shooting with me every time. Their trouble shooting: power off your phone, take out your SIM and then start it back up. Then they said they need to send me a new SIM card.... Here is my issue, I feel like they don't know what they are doing so their answer is just to send me another SIM.
My question: Did anyone else have this experience or ideas on getting the phone to work? I've tried different APNs with no different results.
Okay, this is odd. I figured, since I won't have phone service for a while, I would root my phone. After I rooted my phone, everything works. I can make calls and data works. Not sure what changed but when the device was rooted, it also did a factory reset. After 50 minutes of crappy customer service, I think I'll just take the new SIM card they are sending.
Takes a while for them to activate it sometimes. I was with customer services for 2 hours trying to activate my Sim card because it wouldn't let me online.
Their customer service, signal penetration might suck, but it's way cheaper, which I'm good with.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I wonder if maybe that is what happened but I think it probably had to do with the factory reset.
I do want to post one final thing since everything has played out today... On the phone I asked them to expedite the package since this is my work phone and ONLY phone. Today, FedEx delivered a new SIM card... it was the card only. No other packaging or information. It was the wrong SIM... I needed a micro and they sent a regular SIM... but at least they tried. After receiving the SIM today, I don't feel so bad about the situation. Things may have been different if my phone didn't miraculously start working. I would have had to cut down the regular sized SIM... to find out if it is an ATT or Tmobile version... it's probably the Tmobile versions, since I ordered the ATT version. Thats how things go... have a good day!
READ THE NEXT POST FOR CONTINUED ISSUES
*** I'm going to keep posting my experience, in case anyone else can find the information useful. ***
My service should have Auto-Refilled today. However, when I went to make a call, I found out my service was deactivated. I thought maybe Auto-Refill was disabled when I transferred to the new microSIM. Unfortunately, after spending another 45 minutes on the phone with customer service, I found out that they activated the replacement SIM that they sent me... the one that doesn't fit my phone and appears to be a Tmobile SIM. So, instead of just re-activating the microSIM that was working yesterday, they have to send me another one. I confirmed with them that they will be sending an AT&T compatible microSIM. We will see what I receive.
So got my S6 on Vodafone in the UK today. Brand new contract. New number everything.
Since the sim has been in the phone I can connect to data and make calls.
I can't send or receive texts or receive calls.
Any ideas?

That's definitely a carrier related issue. Contact their support and explain your issue. They will more than likely perform a "reset location PTL", which basically completely reregister you to the tower/network. This will make sure that you are connected to the correct cell tower in your location.
Yeah I got on the phone to them about 6 hours ago. All the "helpful" woman at the other end suggested was try and register on another network then register back on Vodafone and turn the phone off and on. So much for tech support.
I've heard of things like this happen when you transfer your number over. A split port. But not on a brand new sim. Nearly 13 hours it's been like this now.
