My touchscreen on my TF has completely stopped responding to touch. I've tried resetting the device and wiping the data, but nothing will bring it back to life. I've been stuck at the Honeycomb Start screen for 2 days now, where you select your language when you first activate your device.
I called Asus support and they issued an RMA. When I got the email I realized it said that I had to pay to ship the device to Texas to get fixed. I refuse to pay to have this fixed after I just spend $400 on it last week. I called Asus support and was told only level 3 support would have the authority to override the policy and pay for the shipping both ways.
Now I can't decide what to do. Do I pay to ship it to Texas to get fixed, which I think is completely ridiculous? Or do I go to WalMart and return this thing? Does anyone know if I can go to WalMart and exchange it for another one when one comes in stock?
Appreciate any replies!
You'd only be able to return it back to WalMart within 30 days.

if you are within the return period just take it back to walmart and ask for a refund or exchange. Its' not gonna be faster with RMA.
I would return it. My right speaker is dead and I probably will just ship it back to Amazon to avoid the RMA Hassle and expense.
This product seems to have a high (10-20%) defect rate and its ridiculous that Asus makes the customers pay for shipping to Asus especially if they think their competition is really Apple who has the gold standard of customer service.
I'd take it back to the shop and ask for either a swap or a refund, I sure as heck wouldn't want to pay the postage.

Walmart return policy says 15 days
Sent from my Asus Decepticon using Tapatalk
Walmart's return policy for electronics is 15 days.
Welcome to the New World Economy, where retail companies nickel and dime you for every cent they can, even when it is their fault. Unfortunately, this RMA scam is becoming more and more prevalent. Case in point, NewEgg, one of the better companies out there. Their standard policy these days is to make you pay for shipping back to them, even for DOA products. Their position is that 'we didn't make it, so it isn't our fault'. I sent my dock back to them last week, at my expense.
Then I got the refund. I was absolutely horrified to see that they refunded ONLY the cost of the item, without the original shipping costs that I also paid. Holy crapsticks....I went through the roof.
Needless to say, I was in live chat with them immediately, and low-and-behold...they refunded BOTH the original shipping as well as what I paid to ship it back to them, and I only needed to ask.
The point of this? ***** about it. Complain to whomever will listen. You've got a chance of getting it back, whomever the retailer.
I already complained last night to Asus on the phone. I explained to them that it is cheaper for them to pay for my shipping, than to get a refurb back from a retailer.
It is cheaper for me to return it, wait a few weeks, and buy another one.
I don't even care about the money, it would cost less than $10 to ship it back. This is about principle. I just spent $400 on a device, which became totally unusable within less than 2 weeks of owning it. I should not have to pay to ship it back to Asus.
It is becoming very apparent to me how Asus was able to undercut everyone else's ASP for a similar product.

That is all I asked for. I asked for a shipping label to the service center, and Asus said it is their policy not to pay for that.
Does anyone know if WalMart will take a return on an item that doesn't work properly?

Im getting mine rma from newegg too because of the speakers and the popping sound. I emailed them the other day and I got a prepaid ups label. I think if you contact them directly they will give you the label but if you did it the normal way they would make you pay for it.

I think I will just send mine out to Amazon. Looking at the turnaround times, means I will be either getting a repair or refurb by early June anyway. I am sure Amazon will have more in stock on an active basis by early June.
I returned my TF bcoz the one of the speakers stopped working. Guess what, it was the second piece I got as a replacement after returning the first one. Took it back to PC Richards, and they gladly refunded my money back.
Now, I'm thinking if I need to get a TF after a few days, so that I would be able to get a piece from a subsequent production batch, where Asus would fix most of their issues or dump TF and get the Tab 10.1
I was in a similar position. Right out of the box, the screen showed flickering white lines, so I called Asus support. I got the same info: I would have to ship it to Asus at my own expense, and then wait ten to fifteen business days for it to be returned. I think not! I contacted J&R, where I bought the TF, and they provided me with a prepaid UPS shipping label for me to send it back and get a full refund.

I just returned mine at WalMart for a full refund. I'll be damned if I'm going to spend $400 on a product to last 2 weeks and then pay to get it fixed.
Now I don't even know if I want to order another one due to Asus's pathetic business practices.

Has anyone in here ever deal with cellhub when buying ur G2X?
They have the phone on sale for $69.99 and I'm looking at a possible buy here if they r legit.
Ur input will b great appreciated.

They are scum of the earth!
Basically I went through 2 G2X's with them. It wouldn't have been so bad where it not the fact that it took about a week to ship the phone to them and get it back and by the second one, I was worried that I may not want to keep the T-Mobile service so I just gave up and decided to buy locally. The problem was that Cellhub wanted a restocking fee for the SECOND defective phone of $25, then they charged me $10 for the pleasure of having to send the brick of a phone back, AND I had to pay for shipping($15). So dealing with that much hassle with Cellhub on a phone that is known to be defective (Come on, we all know this, the issues this phone has given me led me here) is just not worth the "savings" you'd get. I wasted $50 on literally nothing thanks to cellhub. A week later I went to a local T-Mobile store and it looked like Cellhub somehow screwed me over with Tmobile and I wasn't allowed to get the phone for the upgrade price. So if I wanted it at the store it would have cost me full price! Basically Cellhub was trying to blacklist me with T-Mobile. T-Mobile was great and we cleared it up (seriously, best Customer service for cell phones, I really hope At&t is denied to purchase them), but it soured me from ever buying from cellhub or even hinting at someone to buy it from there. If I could prevent one person from going through the hell I went through, I will be more then happy to write my story down.
I just placed my order.Let's c what kind of dirt they give me.If phone don't get shipped out today I'm cancelling my order.

My experience has been fine. They have done everything they've said for me.
They sent me my first return w/no problems. The 2nd return, they deferred to T mobile. But he was nice about it, explaining that that is the process. He made sure I had no questions. Also made it a point to tell me to get back to them if I had any problems with the 2nd return. The credit for the free activation won't show for three months or so.
I did have to pay for next day both ways, but that was my idea and my decision. They were gonna send it 2 day. I had a loaner from T mobile that was crap and did not want to wait a week.
I'm not sorry I went through them myself. I would do it again. They are selling this phone for a good price. I always get a real person quickly, which I love. It isn't their fault I've had problems. My daughters G2X is problem free.
It must suck to be an authorized G2X DEALER right now. There sure are a lot of returns.......never mind the standard BS that is sorta inevitable. But I can personally recommend cellhub. Of course I try to be uber friendly and respectful. You definately get what you give.

So far so good. We'll when the phone arrives.
If you get a working phone CellHub would appear to be great. But a TRUE measure of a company is how they handle returns. I had a defective Core i7 980x (a $1,000 processor mind you) and Newegg did a cross ship without charging me on the new one sent in, all I had to do was send in the defective CPU. The whole process took 2 days and I recieved a return shipping label for the defective product. THATS how you handle returns. Cellhub is a joke by comparison. A true measure of an online store is how they handle returns, not sales. Cellhub is not there for you after the sale, so I would avoid them.
Cellhub vs Newegg is not a good comparison, because Newegg offered ****ty customer service when it first started too, only until a few years ago they got a lot better in order to compete with amazon's customer service.
I bought my G2x from cellhub they are okay. I was very lucky to be one of the few to receive a non-defective unit. So hopefully you will get a non-defective device. But since G2x has so many quality control problems I would not have bought it from cellhub because if anything is wrong with it you would have a headache with the return (any online retailer that is). I would have suggested you to get it a local tmobile store because you can drive to the store and ***** at them versus an online retailer you cant really do that much.
I ordered 2 cell phones from Cellhub about 6 years ago. First issue was that I was switching carriers and porting my number. I was assured that my old phone would work until I got the phone and had it switched myself. Not so, the numbers were switched immediately before the phones shipped and my wife and I had no phone service until our phones came in over a week later. One phone was fine for 2 years until we quit using it. The other was an obvious refurb that they honored with the 1 year warranty, but I had to send it in for repair through whatever service they used. I had to send it in twice times for different issues. First was it stopped installing anything I had bought and downloaded, which I dealt with until the bluetooth stopped working. After that the screen died. Then 3 days after my warranty expired the keys quit working and I was out of luck. They wouldn't do anything about it even though it was obvious there were issues with the phone before and I had sent it in twice before for a couple weeks each time. Not that I expected that they would do anything even though it was three days, but it did guarantee I will never go back.
Hope your experience is better and that they have improved since then.
They haven't...

Well, I knew what the return terms were when I bought them. I made sure to check the return policy. So the return shipping, while I see your point, wasn't really an issue for me.
I'm more concerned with how much of a fight it is to make the return. They exchanged the first one quickly and with no hassles.
I knew that going mail order was a bit risky. But as I said, I've been pleased with cellhub. From my experiences with them, they've been very helpful and professional.

So you wanted to exchange a defective phone and Cellhub wanted to charge you $25. restocking, fee, $15.00 shipping, AND $10.00 (for what?) for a total of $50.00 for an exchange.....for a defective phone....that was still under warranty?? Boy, I'd be pissed off.
Hence my hatered of cellhub, I spent $50 on nothing. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in long island against them. Cellhub is pure scum.Avoid!!!!

A decent amount of dust has showed up in a spot about 1/2 inch from the very top at the edge top right corner of the screen. Since I purchased the phone at Walmart they said talk to TMO or HTC. I called TMO and they told me dust under the screen doesn't seem to qualify as "manufacture defects" so they wont exchange it for me there, they said call HTC. I call HTC and they fill me in on all the details associated with the repair process etc.. My question is this: why am I responsible for shipping charges on a manufacture defect? On top of that, if they don't deem unwarrantable then I am charged a $39 or less triage fee.... Why am I also gonna be out of a phone for the next 6-10 days without compensation?
I just don't understand the logic behind this. Anyone have any advice, or explanation?
Thanks,
Joseph

I am sure shipping wont be costly, its just I don't see how or why I should have to pay for it. And Walmart after 15 days from purchase wont touch it, or so they are telling me?
If I go in and complain, while still being respectful or course, do you think Walmart or TMO will exchange it?

I meant shipping insurance just in case USPS/FEDEX/UPS loses the package. I live in Charlotte, NC and there are a bunch of Walmart's here. I would clean up the phone really good and try to return it even if it's for store credit and then drive to another Walmart and purchase a new Sensation with the store credit. Did you buy it full retail price or did you do a contract? If you did a contract then you are out of luck with store credit because it wouldn't be enough to purchase a new phone. Otherwise you could call TMO and ask for a warranty exchange and tell them the phone won't power on. They will ship you a new unit and you would just mail back the current unit. I have done a warranty exchange a million times.
Yeah I realized what you meant by insurance after I responded. I bought it on contract, and its past Walmart's 14-day return policy so they might not take to that so much lol. I have done a few in the past with TMO over the phone without any problems and a few in-store as well, as I have always purchased them through the store. I just might have to try TMO over the phone again and get them to send me one like you suggested. Thanks for your advice I really appreciate it.

That's the best way to get them to respond quick TELL THEM THE DEVICE WON'T POWER ON. They will then ask you to verify that the sticker under the battery is still white and then they will ship you a phone. Make sure you call from a phone different from your Sensation i.e a land line LOL and you will be ok.
That's weird. When the Nexus One's had issues with dust getting under the screen the problem was fixed for free assuming you hadn't rooted the device.
I know I personally had a rooted device get dust, cost 100 if I recall to have it fixed. Happened again in a week and they didn't make me pay for shipping or anything to send it back again.
Hello XDA. I have a birthday coming up in a few days. I'm selling my stupid iPod Touch 4g 32gb on ebay (hopefully I'll get around $150, it's in a great condition with box, etc..), and I'm going to purchasing an ASUS eee Pad Transformer (TF101-A1) 16gb model. I was just wondering if this refurbished model here can be trusted:

I currently use newegg to purchase all of my computer parts and have never had a problem with them, and I don't think I would have a problem with this. I'm just making sure that there won't be a problem.
If anybody else knows any insane deals going right now on new asus eee pad transformers, please feel free to tell me because $300 is around my price point. If I could, I would obviously purchase the prime version, but I don't have $500 to spend..
Thank you for the help in advance.

I While I can not speak specifically for refurbished Transformers since I do not own one I generally do not have a problem purchased refurbished items and have done so many times in the past. True or not I rationalize that someone must have given them a good once over. For me something in that $ range I would look strongly at the warranty being offered by the manufacturer.

I bought one from newegg. The charger had some light scratches from who ever returned it, but it's been good to me. Tomorrow is the expiration of my 30 days return, funny enough.
Also, look again, you get a 90 day warranty from ASUS. And you can always pick up an extended from Newegg.

No, I have before with a GPU, though.
I trust Newegg to the fullest to not use some crap warranty company. The main reason was that for the $50 the warranty cost, you can get a brand new one, assuming they ever come back in stock. They were out when I bought mine.
I bought my TF from Newegg, that same link. I haven't had or seen any issues with it. Newegg is reputable too.

They have an exchange only policy for these. You get 30 days. Their service is excellent, though. No worries. Ah, and if you sign up for a free shoprunner trial you get free second day shipping and free returns. Sometimes if you call Newegg they'll send you a pre-paid return label, but not always. Oh, and there's almost always a $10 promo code for new customers.

Nevermind guys, the tax is at $40, total ripoff.

Not sure if I should jump on this or not...I'd like to just walk into a store and pick one up personally. Much easier than waiting for shipping, especially since I'm not at home right now

The couple issue with Office Depot (at least for me)
1. Tax - Amazon has no tax unless you live in Washington State, so that's almost $30-40 discount depending on which state you live in.
2. Return Policy - Though I definitely intend to keep this great tablet once I get one, the IO issue more of ANR issue can turn me a way. Office Depot's return policy is once you open item you can only exchange for the same item. Whereas, Best Buy I believe has no ask 30 days return policy, and never tried but amazon I heard has the same even item is opened.
I am not saying the office depot is bad. If one is for 100% keep the item, and get as earliest, not a bad idea.

I can wait...I have a phone that was half-baked from the beginning already. I'm stuck with it. I love it, but I really would've enjoyed having a Nexus instead (Motorola's software updates are awful. Then again, what non-nexus phone has good updates?). With this tablet...I would rather pick it up in store because I can return it in store without shipping it back. I don't plan on returning it, but I don't want to buy it and end up not being able to fix the issues. And I'm going to be moving around a lot until September...I'm trying to fit in a lot of stuff in my last few weeks of vacation before heading off to school (which is what I'm buying this tablet for anyways...)
On that note though...I went to Best Buy today to grab a cooling pad for my laptop (which, btw is helping a lot, keeps my computer a nice 5-10 degrees cooler. And my vacation so far is pretty boring, so I need plenty of games to keep me entertained ). While I was there though...I took another look at the Prime. I didn't notice any of the picky crap that everyone was freaking out about (this is the same thing I found when buying my phone, the problems everyone were having didn't affect me, and still don't). The Prime isn't a perfect example of how the Infinity is going to be, but it's similar. The screen is awesome (which means the Infinity will be even more awesome). I started downloading a big file via wifi onto it and continues browsing and it worked fine (well, past the fact that Best Buy's wifi was slow as hell). I just couldn't make the thing stutter. I have no idea what you guys are doing...but I couldn't make it hiccup at all. I need more time with one to do it, but I just can't find anything wrong with it. So at this point...I think the Infinity will be a great device if it's anything like the Prime.
Was about to pounce on this! The free gas card code works (Thank you!), so that erased half of the $30 taxes (6% in FL) it was going to charge. Includes free shipping, so why did I not order it online with a Wednesday delivery?
Office Depot return policy! See below : (and this is with a receipt)
>>Technology and consumer electronic products may only be exchanged or returned with their Original Receipt and in their original, unopened packaging with UPC code within 14 days of purchase. If box is opened, only an exchange will be offered. A 15% Restocking Fee will be applied if any components are missing. Opened software may be exchanged for the same item only. Please remember to remove all personal data from exchanged/returned products. Office Depot is not responsible for any personal data left in or on an exchanged/returned product.
Furniture, may only be exchanged or returned with Original Receipt and in new condition, unassembled, in original packaging with UPC code within 14 days of purchase.<<
Unopened??? 14 days??? So, you can buy it, display the unopened box on a counter or shelf for 13 days, and then return it for a refund. Thanks Office Depot!!
When I see the return policies you guys have in the us I really appreciate living in Norway. By law we have three years warranties for defects, and 2 weeks open buy for anything you order online.

Not entirely correct. Warranty is up to each manufacturer but we do have 2 or 5 year "sales claim", depending on the expected lifetime of the item. Most electronic devices get 5 years. But yeah, we're well covered as a consumer in Norway. Which is also reflected in the prices

Adorama hit me with a $40 tax that wasnt on the online checkout form. I saw it when they sent me a receipt. Free 2 day shipping which is alright. Atleast I have one on order
Broke down and order one from Office Depot. Suppose to arrive on Wednesday. I swore I would never buy another Asus product after all the problems that I had with this. That said, I'm so attached to the stinking dock that I am willing to give them one more shot. Here's hoping!

I stand corrected. ;-)
I just placed my order for my TF700T from the big OD, with a delivery date of Wed, July 18th, and it came with free next business day delivery (we're in their delivery area), so I might even see it Monday or Tuesday. I did have to pay tax, but the free shipping offset that.

In case you forgot to use the $15 gas card coupon I posted you can try call the rep and have it added to your order before it's shipped. Some nice rep will honor it and do you the favor. Mine did.

I will be going to Hawaii on Monday and leaving to go home to Australia on Thursday. Any chance the office depot in Honolulu will have stock of any or what is the fastest delivery method so I can get it by Wednesday? Was hoping i would get one before leaving
I place my order yesterday (Saturday) around 3pm and the status is still "processing". I'm curious if anybody else who ordered yesterday is showing a different status? Thanks.

Got this email reply today when I asked about in store supply for san Francisco and Hawaii, but it sounds like general stock level reply.
"The given item #803662 can be purchased through online only and it can not be available on the stores. However, this item is temporarily out of stock from our product line. I apologize, I am unable to provide the exact information on the availability of this item. Please contact us after 7-14 business days to check the availability."

Curious as to where folks purchased their Infinity from;
Best Buy
Office Depot
Newegg
Amazon
Tiger Direct
Armed Forces catalogue
Canadian stores
Overseas retailers
On and on...

Best Buy - best return policy - full 30 days.
Office Depot doesn't allow refunds *at all* on electronics (if opened) - only exchanges for the exact same item, and only 15 days at that!

Microcenter - because they had them in stock and in store long before Best Buy.
14 day return, but they still allowed 2 returns during that period without any problems.
Amazon..
no tax, free shipping, easy returns.
Returned my first one... using my second right now.
Best Buy because they took my TF201 and exchanged it (well refunded so I could buy the TF700 w store credit)
Personally, with the TF700's QC track record, I'd try to buy from a brick-and-mortar store, just in case you have problems.. It's just so much faster to exchange the unit locally instead of via mailorder... There are just too many faulty units out there!

Best Buy also honors manufacturer warranty so it's easy to exchange for a new one if it's a factory issue like screen mura, and other issues.

So you mean that if I have a problem within the first year (the warranty period in the US), I can just take it to Best Buy and exchange it?? If so, I didn't even know that!

Good info from all on the return policies.
Very handy to know I must say.

Try returning a TF201 for a TF700, FOUR months after purchase at Amazon!
Best Buy exchanged many Transformer Primes for the TF700 (or full store credit) even 7-8 months after the original purchase under the manufacturer warranty.
Not one reported successful exchange with Amazon outside the default return period.

thats the best i could find, $128.
I purchased the Infinity from Newegg because of no tax and they were offering $40 off on the tablet and the dock combo at the time. They also have a relatively hassle free return policy (at least in my experience) because I had to return the first one back due to multiple issues and I'm waiting on the 2nd one to arrive.

Excaliberpc.com has both docks (gray backordered at the moment) for $119. I can't post links yet.

Same here, bought my prime in January and they just swapped me to a infinity last month...I was amazed.
On top of that SquareTrade swapped my warranty also.. Such a win win.

Bought two
Wanted to buy from Amazon but they had that "will ship in xx days" thing going when the tab first came out. Local Best Buy had the "ship to store in xx days".
So I decided to give NewEgg a try. Even paid for the expedited 'same day shipping' with overnight delivery (This was at noon PDT on Thursday). FAILURE. They took my money and didn't ship the same day and had to wait the weekend. They just plain refused and then ignored any request to do an expedited Saturday delivery...at MY COST! I know, a total sob story, right? Horrible customer service contact experience in just trying to find out where it was. They did refund my shipping charges but just wouldn't actually DO anything to expedite the process..Unbelievable!! I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. In years past, I had good luck with NewEgg. But I won't use them again and frankly don't expect them to remain in business with all the better competition out there.
Anyway...Finally got the tab..Liked it.... And my wife liked it too! So off to buy another one.
This time, I went with Tiger Direct. Night and day compared to RottenEgg. A flawless transaction and great service. I knew where it was in the process and shipping at all times. I had not used Tiger Direct before. I had only heard of them when CompUSA went under. They've now earned my business.

I've learned to never buy any hardware or software from Office Depot, terrible return policy for both. So I basically don't shop with them.

I've always had A+ service from Newegg and use them all the time.
You should read the details on expedited shipping, it never says they gurantee same day shipping
http://help.newegg.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/378/kw/rush
I' ve found if I get the order in by noon Eastern, they usually get it out the same day. A minute later, usually not.
They refunded your shipping although they did not break their own policy. That's pretty nice of them.
Canada Computers. Worst return policy ever. 14 days plus restock fee
