Got my woot gtab last night. Flashed it and all is great. Took it to work this morning to show it off. Fell off the counter with the charger plugged in. Broke the port inside the gtab. Took the cover off and it appears to be soldered on the main board. Is there any other device that will charge the Gtab besides the wall charger? I have basically ruined it on day one? Do the cocking ports charge. I would buy one if I knew it would charge it.

You can try calling View-sonic and explain to them what happened and see if they can help you out some way or another.. Doesn't hurt to give it a try..
I just got mine yesterday, so I'm not 100% sure about this. I believe you can use the USB cable to charge the g tablet.
From what I understand you cant. My next step was to find a dock that charges through the port on the bottom.
The dock will charge it. USB will not.
Don't worry! just send an email to Woot customer support and tell them you need to exchange the tablet because the battery isn't charging. Something similar happened to me, and I sent woot an email on Monday, I found out today that my replacement will arrive tomorrow, and I just need to mail back the original.
You could contact Woot or Viewsonic, but since you dropped the gTab and broke the connector, I doubt they can/will help.
Buy the dock here and you will be able to charge your gTab:

Well I tried that and they responded back that they dont have one to send and for me to send it in for a refund. I will probably go ahead and keep it. Hopefully there will be more charging options soon that I can use. I went ahead and ordered the docking station though.
its an easy fix with a soldering iron. broke mine the same way. be cautious opening that bad boy though...
Ya I noticed that. I had the cover off already. Is the motherboard difficult to remove? Everytime I seem to do something like this is never goes back the way it is supposed to

I would take them up on their refund offer, and then buy another G-tablet from Amazon for $5 cheaper! I checked today and they are selling them for $280 w/ free shipping. Woot's deal is not so hot after seeing that!
if you want to do it, unscrew the case with the 4 screws located under the rubber stops. pop off the plastic case (carefully), you'll see the motherboard on the right side. take the screws out that connect the motherboard and you'll see the connector easily. You don't have to take the mb out completely, just enough to see the connector. solder that baby in there and good as new!
given, i was taking a chance when i popped that sucker open, but mine works just fine now. good luck!
oh yeah, dont drop it again. i learned that too.
Viewsonic Service
I had my port just fall apart internally. There was no drop, no mishandling at all.
Received an RMA from Viewsonic and sent it in. Received a call from them that they thought it was abuse because the little middle pin was broken off. Don't know yet what they are going to do.
It is obviously a precarious port with the long thin male portion that doesn't seat completely in. It is begging to be broken off if you use the G Tab plugged in at all.
I will advise on what Viewsonic finally does.
EDIT 6/17/11: Received my G Tab back day before yesterday. They repaired the port under warranty after 3 calls trying to tell me it was abused. They did flash 4349 ROM and 1.2 bootloader and cleared sdcard of all data. I had to nvflash back to 3588 to load back to VegaN Ginger Edition.
Good luck. I agree - the port was poorly made. I took mine apart and tried to solder a connector back on. There was just not enough for it to be reliably attached. I did get my dock in and use it to charge now. Its not too bad just cost another $50.
Hello all,
I'm stumped. My rooted Xoom has been working fine, kicking butt since the WiFi launch day. However, I'm running into a very odd problem with my battery. It's not being detected. The battery indicator on the bottom right has a question mark on it. The only way I can power on the Xoom and keep it powered on is by keeping it connected to the power adapter.
I did a little Googling and found that some have resolved the issue by using the charging dock from Moto. I just received it and no luck! Anyone have any ideas or have had the same issue? Any help is appreciated as my Xoom has become an Android 3.1 desktop!
bumping one time
When did it start happening? Ever drop your xoom? Get it wet in any way?
It just started last week. No drops, no possible water damage. It's always in a leather case. I'm starting to believe it's a faulty battery.
It does sound like a hardware issue.
Good luck...Ihope you can get it repaired or replaced.
Thanks for the replies! I was able to go on the Motorola support site and they will be sending me a box to ship the Xoom back for free repair. I noted two issues: device doesn't turn on and battery doesn't charge.
Guess I have a "used" dock to sell now.
having the same issue... my xoom only works with it on the charger... battery wont charge... have "?" on the battery indicator
wtf?
Don't sell your dock... they come in handy.
These things do happen. another tablet of mine that's only six months old suffered a battery failure and had to be replaced. I don't think it happens often.
went to best buy and exchanged my xoom, now everything is fine lol
And they didn't ask any questions, I was in and out in 20 mins with my new xoom.
Thanks for the great warranty Motorola.
I've Owned my S2 LTE I727R for 3 months now, but I've had a serious issue that recently came up.
Whenever I plug my phone in to the Original Charger, I smell a plastic burning smell and it does not charge (plugging into a laptop yields similar results). A quick search indicates that the phone would need to be warrantied/RMA-ed.
My problem is I am rooted, using Sky-Ics RC 6.75 ROM. I am concerned (should i be?) that my modifcation of the phone would void warranty, so I would like to revert it back to stock. The thread in the development forum indicates a usb connection to the phone is neccesary for stock rom revert. Is there a work around for this?
My battery is also currently dead, so to even attempt a revert to stock, I would need to be an external battery charger.
Advice would be much appreciated, I hope I'm not holding 500 dollars of plastic...
the usb port daughterboard only costs $10 to replace. Mine originally came with a rev 4.5 board but i bought about 5 replacements that are rev 4.1 and they work fine in my skyrocket.

Thanks for the quick response. I did take a look around and couldn't find anything regarding the instructions to replacing the "usb port daughterboard".
As for the actual part, does the REV matter? The ones on ebay appear to be oem or Rev 0.1?

doesn't say specifically for your needs but it is a full tear down.
Hope this helps
if u just decide to email it, simply use any free FTP server from the market and connect it to ur wifi. Upload a stockish looking rom to ur phone and then flash it with cwm. This should work for ur purposes
gounlock.com sells the small daughterboard with the USB port.they carry the different revisions but they just don't have the rev 4.5. They do have the rev 4.1 board on page 2 of the i727 stuff. That's where I've ordered my parts from.

Personally, if I buy a $600 phone and I so much as even SUSPECT that something is broken, so I don't waste my time trying to fix it. Call the carrier and ask for a new one, I have warranty and I use it.

Sorry I failed to even respond to you and just commented. You have a micro sd card? Load up any i9100 ROM on it. Goto CWM and flash to brick. Head over to the closest rogers PLUS store and go WTF!!!!!
They will ask you, what did you do? Nothing. I was sleeping and when I woke up. It was dead. I don't know what happened.
Your replacement phone will arrive via courier within a week. The only cost endured in this ordeal will be the extra battery that you have to buy or the external charger that you have to buy. Or you can even goto someone else that has a I727R and do it right there.

Thanks for all the comments. Wanted to update.
I got recommended to a cell repair shop; called them and ordered the part - they replaced it in front of me. He wasn't the most cautious with the phone, but lets chalk that up to familiarity with dissembly (lol).
kr3w1337, that was my last resort option. I couldn't survive a week without my phone! Hopefully this replacement won't come to bite me later.

My transformer will not turn on. I used it a couple days ago but don't remember if I fell asleep or powered down. I went to turn back on this morning but there is no response. If I plug in the charger I can see the light come on. Also if I hold the power button it will give a quick vibrate after about 10 seconds. Has anyone else had this problem?
Its rooted and unlocked. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance for your time.
I forgot to mention that there is nothing being displayed on the screen at anytime whatsoever...

Try cold booting it? Turn it off and then turn it on while holding the volume down button.
Try connecting it to your laptop, see if detects it???
Maybe its a software app thing?

Already tried both. Problem is, is that there is no way to see if the device is even powered on... The battery meter on the screen doesn't even show up when its plugged in/charging...
Wow....that sucks.
If your computer doesnt detect it, then idk what you could do.... cuz if it did, then you could try to use adb to try and restarting t.
It sucks that its unlocked or i would have said to just contact asus to get it replaced.
Other than that, its hard to say...sorry man.

Held down power, volume down, and volume up at the same time.
Then tried the paper clip in the reset button by the hdmi input.
Then I tried both ideas again with the charger plugged in....
Frustrating. Unless someone has anymore ideas I may just try and send it in. Hopefully they cant tell if its been unlocked or not because nothing is being displayed..

You can't send to ASUS when you use unlock tool they get your S/N and save it in case something like this happens. The only way I can see around this would be if you bought it at a Best Buy. They maintain 1 year manufacturer warranties if you bought from them so you could feasibly take to geek squad/Customer service and say it just stopped working. They wouldn't have record that you unlocked the tab. You would most likely need the receipt or some confirmation you bought it there though. Good luck.
Sorry friend, seems like you are in real trouble. I had a very similar problem, my only solution was to exchange it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2203565
As you have unlocked yours, the warranty is no longer valid, and although Asus will fix it, you will have to pay to get it done. Since I'm on my second TF, and it even has had a problem that nearly bricked it, I am simply afraid to unlock it while still within the warranty period.
Might get lucky and see something with it connected to the HDMI port.

They did with my TF201 and this guys TF700 just a month ago http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240970
They took back my TF201 in August last year. I was told by BB it was done under the manufacturers warranty. It really does depend on who you talk to and how you approach them with the problem. Several people had to try different BB stores until they found that one person working there that either knew HOW to do it or was willing to take it back.
I had the same problem. Tried all the ideas mentioned above. I then put it on the charger for a day and afterwards it just booted like nothing had happened.

TF201 is a different tab and basically BB and asus came to an agreement to take them back. The guy in your link got lucky. Probably only got a trade because of the extreme nature of the defect. Fact is you cannot just go into BB and get a new tablet under mfg warranty.

Exactly.
Now for the good news. My tablet came back to life last night after 3 weeks of trying. It was totally dead and wouldn't even vibrate anymore. plugged it in and it actually tried to boot right away but then turned off. Let it charge for a few and tried again and it booted no problem. Battery % is now showing accurately and it has now been running fine for 12 hours.
My problem is I went out and got an HP envy x2 (win8) tab on saturday. Now to decide which to keep... I love the envy but the new quad cores are coming out this fall which should really make it a versatile little laptop. Just don't know if I can live with android now that I have a taste of full win 8.

Any updates? My TF700 stopped turning on as well. Same recovery efforts, now waiting on the battery to drain. I unlocked/rooted for cleanrom (faster/better). Worked fantastic till last thursday and it refused to turn on in my college class. This could signal my exit from Android even though I have a lot of money invested in apps.

Good to hear. Aside from the snappier response of cleanrom my biggest issue with the asus firmware was the waste of screen space on the home screen. It had like a 1" border all the way around that you can't put an icon in and that annoyed me the most of all. Been waiting the battery to go completely dead before I send it in just hoping that fixes it.

Ymmv, but my experience with this charger and an early (2012 delivery) Nexus 4 is poor.
The phone initially recognizes the charger and begins charging, but soon looses interest and the charging stops.
By contrast, the Orb, which I swapped for this Nokia unit to save space, worked very well.

You can check the revision in the bootloader. But I guess that won't be necessary. The newer version has better compatibility with QI chargers.

I have to report back and say that while I don't seem to have a connection problem with this charger, it doesn't seem to give me a full charge. Twice now I've put it on at night, woke up 6-7 hours later and my phone was at 97-98% (still charging). It was on a completely flat surface so I can't image the phone slipped or moved at all during the night causing it to stop charging.
I should have checked my hardware revision before ordering three of these... I'm r11.
I picked one up from the AT&T site. Just over $25 with free shipping. Only have white and yellow left. I'd imagine they will be sold out in a few once this news gets out.

Hi,
Just got one from Media Markt in Germany for 28€.
They had in Blue, Yellow and White.
I took the white one.
My Nexus 4 is on Rev. 11.
The guy at the shop was kind enough to agree to unpack it and hook it up, so we could put the phone onto it and see if it charges.
Well it did.
So now I am at home... it is charging and even pretty fast. Got about 6% in 10-12 minutes, so I guess in about 3 hours I should have a full charge.
The connection seems to be lost every 10 seconds, but it keeps charging.
I'll report further in 3 hours.
Regards.
NexusPenguin
[EDIT] : Same as Daewond3r here : it stops charging when it reaches 98%. Not a big deal anyways, but still worth mentioning... I might give another charger a try...
