[SOLVED] CM7 bricked due to 2nd init update - Defy Android Development

Hey guys im from Brazil and i flashed JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_117-002.rar in order to get 2.2 from Claro.
I looked over http://and-developers.com/sbf:defy to check but theres no JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_117-002, the reason i ask is so i can figure what other sbf i can flash w/o losing downgrade.
Thanks.
EDIT: De-bricked with french deodexed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063728 thanks for all the help.

it is 177 not 117, and it is 2.2.2

Ouch so no downgrade for me, i was on CM7 and made the mistake to update 2nd init, that bicked my defy so im trying to flash that sbf i had before with no lucky, endless boot animation every boot.
Im gona try nordic 2.2.2 to see what happens.
Thanks.

let us know how it goes. good luck!

The 117 was a leaked UK 2.2.1 blur rom.
Where as the 177 is the Nordic blurless 2.2.2 rom.
Sent from my MotoDefy.

No deal, endless boot animation, im starting to sweat lol what else can i flash here before start to hate defy2nd init?
I know i cant flash anything lower than what i have, but what i have is not working, what can be done from here?
Thanks alot guys
EDIT: Well the phone is bricked, white led, no battery charge so entering boot loader just get me a msg low bettery and reboots, i accept any ideas.
I really think 2nd init should not be on market, realy....bricked my phone, sure i could had come here and see the thread telling ppl not to update it on CM7, yeah...a big red warning INSIDE the app would be better, things that can **** ppl up should be handled more carefully i guess, never had a brick in my hands for such a stupid reason. I hope i can rcover just like the other times.

Avoid depleting your battery if you came from CM7 5.1 without the fix for issue #130 - No charge when shutdown. Otherwise you have to go McGyver.

My middle name is McGyver
What would be that method? i think i got lucky, its charging up on the wall charger

Ah good. It involves attaching bare threads to the battery. I't somewhere mentioned on this forum.
Can't you just hold Power and Volume Up and flash the sbf with RSD Lite?

Its charged
Now i can Power and Volume Up and flash but im not sure what to flash, i think the problem is my bootloader, i found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537 with some 2.2.1 bootloaders, is that what i need to flash?
Thanks for all the help

Flash the sbf file you downloaded on your pc with RSD Lite.

it always goes endless boot animation
btw the led is white at boot
im looking for alternatives, im dling a new sbf JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-11_BLUR_SIGN.gz, will try flash that

FLash the brazilian retail if you need, but remember to enter Stock Recovery (power + vol down) to wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache BEFORE flashing the SBF with RSD Lite.

I cant do that, when i power + vol down a "!" with the droid robot shows up.

Press both vol up and down.

You need to give us something to go off of. if you just say my car is broken will a mechanic know what to do?
Tell us what you or whoever has done to the phone to get it in that state then we can (hopefully) instruct you to fix it.
Is it a Droid 2 global or the original Droid 2.
My first thought is it's out of battery or you destroyed it with a liquid (Always take the battery out of your phone ASAP if you happen to get it wet).
Its a regualar droid 2. I rooted the phone months ago. and i guess he was playing around with and bricked it. I used another battery and it turn on and straight to the motorola sign. and stays there. took the battery off put it back on press X and turned it on. and i got into android ! mark. i hit search button and it takes me to the system recovery. Did the wipe date/factory reset. and wipe cache. All i get now is E: can't open /cache/ recovery/command. Im outta my league with motorola. how can i unbrick this from here
Best bet at this point would be to use RSDLite and flash the Full Stock SBF file.
Yes you need the 2.3.20 sbf and rsdlite to flash the software to the phone. Ignore that 'error' in the stock recovery it always says that.
Also if you have a D2 why did you post in the D2 G section?

I actually have the same problem, I used RSDLite to flash the full SBF, and my M2G won't power on. The process I have tired is a battery pull while charger is connected, then insert battery followed by holding power and x down.(nothing happened) I have not tried the method of using a different battery.
Any help is appreciated, I would like for the phone to power on. I don't want to use a warranty replacement just yet!
I used this SBF found here.

Pressing the up-arrow when turning the phone on should take it straight to the bootloader, where you can then try flashing the SBF again.

If you were on Higgsy modded CN then its easy to flash back. Just flash the original chinese 0.26 froyo sbf or flash your eclair sbf.
Did you flash any other sbf after Higgsy modded CN? I think you flashed the recently leaked finland or poland froyo

i suffered from this issue but came out by flashing through the higher version of firmware....
its not dead dude......u know defy is lifeproof...its immortal

Can you get back into CWM recovery? If so you can flash your nandroid backup or reflash the ROM and you should be good to go. Make sure you check the compatibility of the kernel before you flash it.
I do not own an atrix. I wish I did that is a sweet phone. Sadly verizon does not have cool phones like that and i am stuck with locked bootloader droid 2 global. Not that I do not like it as it is a great phone. I have xoom though and I have gotten that same error on it. Your phone is not screwed, if you can get into clockworkmod then you are easily saved. If not you have a few more options. Get an sbf file for your phone. I am sure they are around. Learn how to flash it and your phone is saved. You can also see if you can get into fastboot mode. Get some image files and once again your saved. I am intrigued by the moto atrix so please report back on any progress and i certainly will try to help you in any way that i possibly can
P.S. If this helped you, or you just want to show appreciation for me typing this up please give that thanks button a good old press
u hold the volume rock up button to get into cwm right?

Pardon me if it's a wrong forum - Issue with Moto Defy
Hi,
I tried to flash froyo on my motorola defy using RSD lite and everything went on smooth till the message "Please manually power up this phone" appeared on RSD lite and the phone screen is frozen with android logo. Nothing is happening. What to do now?? Please help!!!
Please Help me find img file for Atrix 4g
I rooted my phone a few months ago without really knowing what I was doing but lately it has been acting up so I wanted to upgrade. Of course the OTA upgrade wouldn't take because I am rooted. So I tried to flash the stock rom on my phone and somehow did either a soft or a hard brick. not sure which. It will only go to RSD mode. I understand that I can use RSD lite to bring it back but I have scoured the internet and can not find an active link to the necessary files. Please if someone has them please share a link!

I5801 Bricked Without Flashing

Hi all
Yesterday, I rooted my I5801 (on Orange network) using z4root. Everything went as expected and I used Titanium Backup to remove all of the horrible Orange game demos/bloatware etc. After doing this, everything was working fine and I used the phone for all of today without issue.
I became curious reading about the key-combo for recovery mode and (stupidly) thought I'd take a look. I forgot the exact key-combo, so I just turned the phone off and tried holding vol up + vol down + home + power. Now whenever I try to start the phone, I get a yellow exclamation mark in a white triangle with the Android below. If I push the home button while on this screen I get an open box with an arrow pointing out of it and what looks like a progress bar below that, but it just takes me right back to the exclamation mark screen.
I can get into Download Mode by taking the battery out, putting it back in and holding vol down + power, if this helps.
I've read that it should be possible to reflash, but I really want to try and avoid this if possible, as I don't see why my OS would have died without trying to reflash in the first place.
Is it possible to get back into the OS without reflashing? And if I do need to reflash, can anyone make any recommendations?
Thanks in advance for any answers!
Welcome to the forum
First of all, thats a weird story you got there I have no idea what happened to your phone to be honest. The fact that you can get into download mode is a good sign, it means your phone is not hardbricked (yet) .
I really don't know how I would get around this problem without reflashing, maybe someone else knows a possible solution? I think flashing a new Rom (Android OS) is the way to go. Do you know the buildnumber of your current Rom? You can search for your current Rom in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063940. Download it and flash it with Odin via pc to your phone (while in download mode). That should fix it, its a pretty drastic method though.
Good luck
BTW: I'd prefer One-click-root as a method for rooting in the future, you need software on pc to do that. But thats my opinion.
Thanks for the reply! I'm not sure which build I was on.
I'm going to try and put on I5800XXJPU with Odin found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497261
Hopefully because there is no bootloader this won't hardbrick my phone!

Good luck.
In fact, I've just read that if you're going from Eclair (I was definitely on Eclair) to Froyo (which I believe that ROM is) then you need to have a ROM with a bootloader for it to work.
Guess I'll try Kyrillos!

Well yeah, I guess you're right... I still really don't quite understand what's up with bootloaders.
never heard about "coming from eclair, bootloader ROM needed for froyo update"!
My original FW was also eclair and I never ever flashed a bootloader!
But try and see if you get a brick with flashing a bootloader! I wouldn´t dare doing that, but it´s up to you.
I would open another thread and ask specially that question. Why?
Then you get more opinions to make your choice.
Good luck and keep us informed about the progress.
Sorted, I ended up giving the phone to a friend who is more phone competent than myself!
Here's the solution:

First of all going into download , must hold home + vol down + power , that's first mistake. Nothing bad happened to your phone yet , go and reflash any froyo with or without bootloader i did it countless times when no one on this forum had a firmware without bootloader starting from old JPF , yes there is a risk but the reflashing is the only solution Good Luck

Download the following first:
1) RSD LITE 4.9
2) MotoHelper
3) Stock ROM of your choice from this thread
After you have downloaded the above, Install MotoHelper followed by RSD Lite. Remove the battery in the phone and re-insert. Press the Power Button+Volume Up Button+ Camera Button all at once. This should take you to Bootloader mode. Connect your phone to your system using a USB cable. Now run RSD Lite in the system. Browse and find the Stock ROM (.sbf) and load it using the RSD Lite. Start flashing. This should take you to back to the Stock settings. Remember this process could take a minimum of 15 mins, please be patient .If any doubts please revert back.
