[Q] got my TF!....except it booted up in Chinese! (Solved) - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got my TF....opened the package...connected the charging cable...and it fired up in Chinese....!
I can't read a thing...so I don't know what to do...
Can someone tell me how to do a factory resent when you can't read any menus?
EDITED TO ADD: (SOLVED) I found that I had to hit the little "down arrow" to choose English....that's definitely not apparent..... But now all is well...

Where did you get it from?

Datavis...why?

Glad to know I wasn't the only one that got one that booted up in Chinese (or whatever language). I got mine, opened the box, booted it up, and BAM - foreign language I couldn't read!
I noticed though that when it first booted and brought up that screen, that the text "English?" popped up in the middle and faded away after about a second. I then was able to click on the left dropdown and see English listed there, and was able to change it.
It seemed weird to me that mine booted in that language, when it has a US firmware installed on it. Not sure what the difference is, since it doesn't seem like many other people had it boot up that way.
My guess is ASUS tried pumping out their stock quickly, and somehow some that were configured with the US firmware got configured to boot into the wrong language accidentally. Not a huge deal, but slightly entertaining, none the less.
I bought mine from Newegg last Thursday, if it means anything.

Same here,
Bought mine from Fry's in Anaheim and was extremely worried prior to opening that it was an "Open Box" item because of the green sticker looked to had been messed with.
I booted it up, BAM!, Chinese! I was livid but I had already drove home 60 miles and just got off from working 12 hrs there was no way I was driving back. Ended up navigating back to ENGLISH did a factory restore and I haven't had a problem since. This thread puts my curiosity at ease wondering if it was a return - definitely glad I'm not the only one.

Are you guys sure the firmware is the US version. (in settings?)
It would make sense if you bought these from the ebayers based in Taiwan.
If not, it isn't that surprising considering some people had just 2.2 on their devices. Maybe some guy in quality control in China/Taiwan (or where ever it's manufactured) just forgot to switch the language back.
As long as it works I guess...

My 16 GB transformer from Newegg (ordered on 5/5) also booted in Chinese. Had the latest US firmware. I was a little apprehensive until I tried the left down arrow to select the language.

[Q] Afraid I bricked my Milestone, is it possible to undo it?

Hello XDA-members,
I hope you can help me, I've been browsing this forum for quite a while now and I actually am rather optimistic looking at the high amount of leet tweakorz populating this place :> Shouldn't cheer too early though.
I've got some details which might be required in order to analyse the situation.
About a week ago, I downgraded to stock Milestone EU ROM 2.1, coming from the G.O.T. 2.2.1 custom rom, due to the power drainage which I thought was the price of the custom ROM.
I browsed around the interwebz in order to find a custom froyo rom not sucking ma powaz, but in fact I found out that the power drainage could be caused by failing to clean out the cache (including dalvik, etc) before flashing a custom rom. So, before I installed the stock ROM, I made sure I properly did this, after the installation I cleaned it again and then installed the G.O.T. 2.2.1 again , through the new OpenRecovery v2.0.1. Rooted it, installed the custom theme they included with the ROM, and overclocked it to I think 800 Mhz.
After this, everything worked fine for about 1,5 weeks, although I noticed it started to suck power again (60% gone in a night of a nice, cozy, sleepy rest without any applications, wi-fi or 3g connection on background), so I did something incredibly stupid. Still a bit sleep-drunk, I went into the openrecovery menu and cleaned the cache, dalvik and (I think it's) clear settings.
After rebooting, I noticed the theme that GOT included was replaced for the standard layout for froyo. Also, the device was barely responding to my commands, for about 5 minutes. I rebooted it, and after about a minute of processing it worked fine.
I didn't get to know if this was actually increasing battery life again, because I went to sleep yesterday night with the phone having about 40%, and this morning I woke up and the phone was empty (at least, so I thought). A few hours ago I connected it to the charger, later I found that the phone wouldn't power up anymore. It simply doesn't react to the power button, screen doesn't show power or anything. I also tried power button in combination with x, or camera, but both methods didn't do anything as well.
So, that was it. Maybe those were a bit too much details. TL;DR: I installed a custom rom, cleaned out all the cache, and my phone won't start up anymore. I hope anyone knows this problem, and possibly a solution?
Thanks for reading, Bullehr
Men i have the same problem with my girlfriend milestone .
Try to take out the battery for a minute and then put it back again, that's do the trick for me .
Sorry for my English it's not my native language
The problem generally is given by the fact that the phone needs some power to "boot" in power charging mode. What you need is a second battery, or a little trick to charge the battery...

[Q] Huawei H866C Question

Hello everyone!
I seem to have a big problem with my phone that I cannot figure out. I'm fairly good with phones and very good with PC, but this problem eludes me.
My Huawei H866C was working just fine yesterday until boom, system freeze. This happened numerous times and most of the time, all I was doing was looking around in the settings etc. My first gut reaction was to factory reset it.
So I did.
When it was done, the phone rebooted like it should, and there I found the "tutorial" screen.
I tap the green android and it proceeds to the next screen which has only one button labeled "Begin"
When I press begin, it immediately throws this error; The application SetupWizardEx (process com.huawei.setupwizardex) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Well, needless to say, I've many dozens of times with no success.
I recall a similar incident with my sisters motorola droid bionic, in which after a reset the phone wanted some carrier info before it would load the home screen and let you use the phone. With that incident, I was able to bypass it by touching all 4 corners of the touchscreen. I can't find anything like that to bypass this tutorial nonsense.
I know that the phone isn't bricked, because I never rooted it. Furthermore, I can still bring up swype keyboard settings by holding the menu softkey. From there, I can click a web link in swype help and open the browser with no wifi connectivity. I can go through browser settings, and swype settings. When I first turn the phone back on, I can even use the slide-down menu briefly before it takes away my access.
I was really starting to like this phone until now.
Is there any way to bypass this annoying tutorial so I can use the phone? Otherwise, I'm afraid my money was wasted.
I have included some fairly low quality pictures to try and illustrate my problem.
ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Well admins, you may as well delete this thread. It's helped no one, including myself. I'm just going to return the phone and get my money back..

And that's exactly what I did. My best advice? STAY AWAY FROM TRACFONE/NET10/Straight Talk at ALL costs! Sure, they give you cheap unlimited everything, but the phones are pure garbage. :good:

Bad display issue with horizontal lines

Good day my friends,
my OPO from the very first batch in early june 2014 works perfectly. My second One, bought in september 2015, worked also very well. Until yesterday when I noticed that the display is completely full of horizontal lines, all aligned with the same space and the same size.
I thought it could be a problem with CM13 and updated to the latest release, but the issue persisted. I updated to the latest firmware because it made a lot weird stuff in the past - nothing changed. I read about some DPI problems when setting up a custom DPI in settings, you should set the same DPI in your build-prop. Did it and nothing changed. Finally I switched back to the CM12.1 release candidate from november 2015 and .... the lines were gone. I was very happy, but confused because it seems I was the only one having this problem.
2 hours later I was randomly checking my phone... and the lines were back. They started to get visible alongside the upper edge, in the statusbar region. After some time the whole screen is full with lines. After some time with display off there is a big shift and you can see everything double (unfortunately no image of this). I got the doubt it may not be software related and made a screenshot and sent it to my other OPO. And yes, there weren't any lines. So I think it is indeed hardware related, but I was not able to find something similar. Many results for this big line at the bottom which occured in late 2014, but nothing similar to my problem.
Before asking for a RMA I'd like to post this here, maybe someone knows what is wrong. I really hope it is not hardware-related and I can refuse to use the (not well working) RMA and support of OnePlus.
And NO, my device didn't fall down or something else. To be honest it isn't really in use, I just use it an hour a day
I made some images for you to see my problem. Maybe you saw something similar on the internet. Thank you in advance.

After some further investigation I found an angry comment which states "horrible horizontal lines". Moreover it seems to be clearly a hardware defect when a LCD panel shows lines..
Go for RMA, faulty connector pins. Maybe from the factory, maybe from yours. Higher air moisture can produce chalk on the pins too, even while they plugged in
hello fiz:ik,
can you please tell me that how this issue was resolved? as i am having exactly same issue with my OP3T.

FRP locked SM-G930w8 ( disabled OEM unlock on custom ROM )

Hello all,
From what I can tell XDADevelopers is the best place to ask stupid questions - because I'm noticing with how much time I've spent on here trying to solve this problem that everyone here seems to be particularly helpful! However, I have spent way too much time trying to solve this myself, so this is my last ditch effort before I go and buy myself a new phone, haha. If anyone can get this phone working again for me I will PayPal, send some BTC, or eTransfer ( if you're in Canada ) for your time!
So here goes:
I installed an 8.0 Oreo Superman ROM ( I don't remember the exact one I flashed - IIRC it was this one but I'm not entirely sure, but it was working really well and I was extremely satisfied with how everything was working ). Now I did this a while ago and I've been extraordinarily busy lately so it's been a while, so forgive the lack of detail. I was trying to install some sort of application/feature through Magisk Manager and it wasn't working as expected so I did what in hindsight what I know now to be an incredibly stupid idea - which was to disable OEM Unlock and disable developer options and reboot hoping it would get whatever I was attempting to install working. Instead I was greeted immediately to the following bootloop upon starting the phone again:

( here's a direct link just in case since the thread preview isn't showing the image for whatever reason: https://i.gyazo.com/1a8af44f100198c70ef9ebfc98fea374.jpg )
I'm unable to boot into TWRP and Odin/PC does not recognize the phone at all. I've tried on multiple computers, different cables, etc. My other Samsung S7 has no trouble being recognized by my PC & Odin as well as Samsung Kies, so I know it's not a driver issue. I only have the IMEI engraved on the back of the phone since I have long lost the box that had the SN on it, which might allow me to reset it through Kies as far as I understand. I am starting to think this is well beyond my capabilities to fix, or the phone could potentially be completely bricked. But again, that's why I'm here asking for advice.
I have tried my best to solve this on my own but I simply don't have time to keep working on this - so like I said, I'd be willing to pay to have someone attempt to come up with a fix for this issue or at least tell me I need to go and buy a new phone - though, ideally I'd prefer the former, haha. If the phone is toast, I was thinking of getting a lightly used Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 off Kijiji or Ebay or something - but if anyone has any recommendations for an alternative I am open to that as well, but I like the bezel-less design and the fingerprint reader, but ideally I'd like an OLED and wireless charging.
Anyways, hopefully someone on here has a solution or at least tell me with 100% confidence that I can safely toss this phone and I will keep my fingers crossed....
Thanks guys - any help would be greatly appreciated.

As you can see that I was too late to notice that my phone was slowly losing charge as I try tp charge it.
Solutions I tried:
1) charge the phone for 30 mins (bottom and side port)
2) Different Charger like realme and ipad pro 2021
3) Usb sideport or bottom connect/charge(desktop can’t even detect the phone except when it was still on but sadly phone already died).
4) Volume up;down;power button or press all of them with charger or without, still the same.
5) cleaning the ports even if it was clean ( charge and still no life nor led indicator isn’t even there)
6)Charge it up using powerbank(original + different chargers + mention 4) + leave for 30 min = still dead and no led indicator.
well, the story was the typical me reading a manga and I noticed that there was a notification where spotify is trying to play something but I wonder what it was. So i tried downloading Avast Antivirus to clean the phone and it didn’t detect anything. Meanwhile eating lunch, I go back to my phone to resume my reading and there I found out that my battery percentage kept on decreasing like huh? Must be my imagination until I go to the system and saw the plugged in, can’t charge right now (please refer to the photo above). So, I decided to shutdown the phone. After a few hours, well this is it just plain ol dead phone.
I wonder what should I do next?
Oh right, of course that my phone is always updated from the system updates.
You are right on the last day of two weeks, which is the return period through Asus. Better contact Asus ASAP. If you miss today, you are outside the return period and will have to go through the regular repair process.
If you bought it from a third-party seller, then you may want to check their return policy and contact Asus about it anyway, in case the seller won't accept it.
If you purchased a model from another country and aren't sure if you are covered, contact Asus anyway and see if there is anything they can offer to help.
TL;DR Like 100% of the hardware issues that are posted here, contact Asus.
