Today the eHRPD network came back on in Raleigh, and I have had several issues since. A few people said they couldn't text me, and I had the first reboot I have seen in a long while. went into EPST and set the modem back to enabled (revA) and now I get all my texts. Anybody else seen issues like that?
LTE is not on in Raleigh yet, but they are testing and it pops up from time to time, so eHRPD is not necessary
eHRPD came up for me last night and i was having multiple reboots all day. But it might be from something else.
Yea, If I don't enable REV A the damn phone always wants to go into 1x. What is the deal with the way they have these set up?

Do these phones talk over EVDO or 1x??
eHRPD has been back in Southern California but I noticed my 4G has been dropping in and out since. Tried doing ##778# and changing from eHRPD to Enable Rev A and that appears to have resolved the 4G drop out.

After I updated yesterday, I briefly re-enabled LTE and eHRPD. Almost immediately, I began to have issues with data dropping out. I switched back to Rev A and will keep it there until the network is more stable.

Yeah same here actually. I was wondering why my 4g had been dropping in and out. Been happening since eHRPD came back on. I personally think they're probably better off without it.
Been operating with LTE only or with Rev A enabled. Like you, it fixed the drops.

The Hybrid push is a known issue, but ONLY for certain customers. These customers are in certain areas and are either former Alltel customers or customers that are accessing former Alltels equipment. I to have the 15008 PRL, however my location, New Jersey, I am not affected by the Alltel issue, and even though she said she would send the update to my phone, she stated that it can cause other issues. Since she seemed very knowledgeable about this information, I decided to take her advise and stay clear of this update.
For any of you guys using Alltel towers or equipment, all the info you have read is correct and this pushed update should serve you phone well. Just first verify you are in that Alltel local.
Myself I suffer from loss of internet sometimes moving from one place to another. (home to work). She asked if I frequently get the cannot connect for internet message. I do. She also asked if I get the 1X instead of 3G frequently. I do. She stated that this is a know issue with the Thunderbolt and it can be rectified very easy by doing a full factory reset from settings. Since I was having more issues with the Internet then the phone calls I am going to try this fix. I hate reloading and setting everything back up but I am going to try it anyway.
For anyone thinking of this, this operation puts your phone back to factory release condition. You will lose all contacts and data info. Make sure your contacts, calendar and misc info is backed up first. If you have a Google Account everything is and will reappear after you re sign back in.
Update from the OP: I said 13xxx, but this number could be different for your area. I honestly have no way of telling how many different PRL's there are or which number would say that would definitely tell you that you're on the Hybrid network(If there is one in your area.) I just know my results and that my PRL number changed.
On a quest to figure out why my phone had 3-4 bars of network signal, while my wife's phone had 0-1 bars even when they were next to each, I found this out in the process. If you're on PRL 15008, your phone is connected to the old Verizon Nationwide network. While if your phone shows PRL 13xxx, then your phone is connected to the New Hybrid network. I was on 13004, while she was on 15008. If your PRL shows 15008, I highly recommend you call Verizon and have them upgrade you to the Hybrid network, as this GREATLY increased my wife's signal and fixed her voice calls reception. (Not sure if this does anything for data. She always had good 3G and we're not in a 4G area.) They will push the update to your phone and have you leave it on for a few hours. Afterwards, I pulled the sim card and battery out for 30 seconds, replaced them and let the phone boot up. After 10-20 minutes, the radio will locate the nearest tower and my wife's phone auto updated its PRL number from 15008 to 13006. She now has a constant 3-4 bar signal and her time without a signal is significantly lower. (Same as mine.) Also, if you're rooted, make sure you know the correct stock firmware/radio version as they will probably ask you for this info.
P.S. I would only do this if you're having voice(not data) signal problems like my wife phone was. My wife phone shows 13006 and mine shows 13004, so PRL's can be different numbers for your area. So again, this may help some people and this may do nothing for others. If you already have a great signal, I would leave well enough alone.

yeah, I have 14001 too. Are you on a legacy Alltel plan?
I am on 1508 and in a 4G area. I don't know about the hybrid network or what not but I know that coming from Tmobile, I have great voice reception.
Just today I started to get 4G at my apartment. The coverage map always showed me in a strong 4G area but I was only getting 3g until today.
That is my first time hearing about 14xxx. But it could be the correct PRL for your area. Wouldn't hurt to call and find out. Also, have the regular Verizon plan. Not sure what the legacy Alltel plan is, as I never had Alltel service. I'm located in Central Florida btw.

I sure am, didn't think about that, goo call man! Would it screw things up to change over to hybrid? for example i still have unlimited messaging and internet for like 15-20 bucks a month way back from my alltel haha and would HATE to screw that up.
I'm on 15008 in Houston my phone is set it LTE mode (no switching to 3G) and I almost always have full bars and can get D/L speeds 20-30 easily.

Have you downloaded the 4g fixes for the VirusRom?! I hear they will bring your speeds right back up to par! I am not in a 4g area therefor i can not confirm but a lot of other users have said after they downloaded the fix everything was back to normal!
Just thought i might see if that helps. Good luck!
I called Verizon and even got tier 2 tech support...they said they have NO upgrade for PRI......he told me to pull the batter..then the SIM card......and see if it helps....I still have 15008 PRI. The tech informed me that it depends what part of the city you are in. Maybe your wife got the wrong tower when you activated the phone and she got the 13000 when you pulled the card. Do not think there is an upgrade for this.
That is why everyone has a different PRI

I have just been lazy and haven't fixed my signiture, I am running the Das BAMF rom. Although my 4G sucks on every rom. It cuts in and out, and so forth. Unroot my phone, instant 20-30 down speeds every time.

It's is april 27th 2:10AM is anyone else stuck in 1x? Just wondering as i don't know if it's just my phone or maybe some towers down? I tried calling VZ but it is to late or early for them to pick up. I don't have any apps that let you customize battery saving that can involve switching into non 4g on late night early mornings. Well i did but uninstalled it a couple of days ago.
I have tried taking the battery out and sim out twice for over 2 mins at a time. It just restarts right back into 1x. I am on a stock thunderbolt. I am in Bayonne nj near Jersety City, Newark and Manhatten NY.
In Florida stuck on 1x. Something is up. Messed with network. Looks like a network problem

Kinda wierd as it'll switch into 3g for a sec then right back into 1x. I have the app that lets you toggle between 3g and 4g and when i switch to 3g it finds nothing. Weird.
This will get you back on 3G
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13244430#post13244430
Do all this steps.
1. I dial ##778#
2.tap edit mode
3.password. is 000000
4.tap on modem settings
5.tap Rev.A
6.Tap on enable
7.Tap on the menu on your phone
8.Tap on Commit modifications
And after you do that your phone should reboot and you should have 3g
THEN AFTER THE REBOOT
Dial *#*#4636#*#*
Okay now scroll to the bottom. the box should say "LTE MODE" I have no 4G service in my area. So I only got. 1x. I changed my radio settings to auto PRL. Its 3G only saves battery. And for. 3G and LTE
Is (CDMA+LTE/EvDo) then after just press the home button then. 1x will disappear then 3G will appear there you go. Ladies and gentlemen

I tried the fix, it does indeed get 3G back but it cuts in and out to where it becomes unusable. At least it does for me. This is nuts, anyone know what the problem is? I know it's on Verizon's end.
i had 4g last night, today i get no better than 1x... just called vzw, there is currently a nationwide 4g outage.
the tech wasn't "tech savy" which concerns me, but he read the notification he has that said to not have users switch to 3g as it will cause authentication issues.
so, nothing to do, just sit tight. looks like my lunch time tethering web surfing session will be canceled today.
It keeps intermittently going to 4G and lighting up only the UP arrow, but it's not actually transferring any data -- FB doesn't work, browser, speedtest won't find a server, etc. And then it will toggle to 3G on its own and get the standard .5-ish MB up/down.
I never made the fix yesterday to switch to 3G, figured I'd wait. Wondering if anybody else is seeing this kind of issue. I'm in Detroit. When 4G was up I was getting 30+ MB down as the norm.

Happens a lot... turn data off, then turn it back on...
yeah my thunderbolt also says 4g but only the up arrow lights up and it sits there for like 3 mins until it switches to 3g and starts working again. i only just started noticing it after the outage. is this normal then? how do you fix it when it happens?
This was happening to me all day long as well. It's still really flaky even right now. Also in Detroit.
4G is now working up & down. It was only doing 4G up earlier, so I was forcing it to CDMA auto (PRL) to keep it on 3G.

Anybody in Detroit seeing any improvement on this? I tried turning off/on mobile data, restarting, battery pull. Still same issue as I mentioned in the original post. The frustrating thing is it won't just automatically go to 3G when 4G isn't working. I just notice it's switched to 3G randomly at times.
Note: I tried a *228 when the network dropped before I heard the news and before I read that it was a bad idea to do that. Of course now I'm wondering in the back of my mind if that's the reason I'm getting this issue now.
I am on BAMF remix 1.5 with the new radio.
Since the new radio came out, 4g was working pretty good. BUUUUUUUT, since the 4g outage, it's working like pre new radio.
What a CS rep told me was to check the Data roaming feature to fix the problem.
Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks (under Mobile network with the check mark)
Then check the data roaming.
I had the same problem. Where I would lose connectivity to data. However, checking it seems to fix it for me. I just turn on the option "data roaming sound" just in case.
I just got my thunderbolt and my 4g keeps dropping.... Is there a problem?

I had the same problem after spending a weekend in Mexico - they replaced my SIM card at the store and it has worked fine ever sense.
I keep cycling through 3g/1X and the network is constantly unavailable, wtf is going on? Im so disappointed with this phone so far.
I dont know if I need to install a new radio? I installed bamfs remix 1.6 and some lean kernel, did I do something wrong? My Incredible never had these issues
Where do you live? That obviously matters, 4g coverage keeps expanding in Chicagoland area, I get 4g almost everywhere I go.
I live in Akron, I get full 4g bars then it drops to nothing, then 1x, then 3G. its unreal
Did you enter your address in the coverage map? Don't know how big Akron 4g coverage is, but again, I rarely ever lose 4g around Chicago and the burbs.
Unrooted BOLT, same issue with connection
I have been seeing the same about the connectivity being bad. I live in burbs of Philadelphia, only about 20 mins from city so i'm not going to pin it on my location..
So you are rooted? I however am not. Just got the thing and wanted to see how it was for a bit before rooting, but now i'm thinking before i root i better make sure the phone isn't crap or i'm not gonna be able to return it.

Pretty much from Mid-County to the Lehigh Valley exit is still 3G in most areas but south towards the city and in the Lehigh Valley itself is all LTE. I travel down from Allentown to Philly regularly and I can tell you this from personal experience.
FYI Lehigh Valley LTE is down right now but I just got out of a meeting with Verizon (less than an hour ago) and they supposedly knew there was some maintenance being done in our area (so that may be the reason for the current outage.) If you switch out of LTE Mode to CDMA LTE auto you should pick up 3G (I'd also enable airplane mode and then disable it to pick up a strong 3G for right now.)
Oh and +1 on the rooted/non-rooted thing. You can flash back to non-rooted stock from a rooted state to send it back. Instructions are in the development forum.

Hi there, thanks for that info i appreciate it. I seem to be missing where htc allows us to switch btwn the 4g and 3g, i searched for the question but didn't get much results. So i'll my noob question right here. Where is that done?
I see under Settings > Wire & networks > Mobile network settings there is a System select option, for "Change the cdma roaming mode", is this where i'm supposed to be? Roaming doesn't seem to be the area i'd think to have to change this particular thing, but i don't see much else in these menus. Please advise or link a thread that i didn't see in my results.
Verizon has a problem with their new eHRPD network.. which is what the Thunderbolt is on by default.. (this allows for 4G + simultaneous talk and browse on 3G).. However, though 4G works OK, 3G doesn't seem to.
In order to tap into Verizon's original 3G network.. dial ##778# on your phone.. go to edit mode (you'll see pop up after you dial that number)..password is 000000 (6 zeros).. go to modem settings.. Rev.A and eHRPD is probably selected there by default.. choose "Enable" option... which will kick it out of eHRPD and then hit menu.. commit changes.. and the phone will reboot. You'll be on Verizon's original 3G network which will work fine.. but you won't have 4G.

I'm at USC in LA, and since yesterday my phone has been having issues connecting to LTE. I haven't heard any news of outages, though, so I'm wondering if something is borked with my phone. I was on CM7, but I tried going completely back to stock and still no dice. Is anyone else having LTE issues?
haven't heard of anything but gaving the same issues since yesterday. In the Burbank area.
Oh, good — then maybe there's a chance that it's not just my phone. Even 3G sometimes drops out, and nothing comes up for LTE Only except 1X.
Weird that nobody is reporting anything, though.

I think it was an outage because 4G kept flickering all day yesterday and now it seems steadily on today without me changing anything. Thanks for the suggestion though.
there's no LTE yet where i am, but every now and then the 3G will cut in & out for about a day or so(and get stuck at 1X). whenever i call Verizon about it they'll either say there's work being done in my area or an area nearby and just said they could transfer me to a tech to see if there's something on my phone not set correctly or will just give the b.s. "pull your battery for 30 seconds" bit.
good luck if you call them
I'm at USC as well and didn't notice any issues. I was on MR2.5 and flashed the new 802 radio last night which seems even better connection and speed-wise. What radio are you using?
