The os looks real good and has tempted me in the past. Was even thinking of getting the touchpad sometime in the near future when it drops.

webOS is closed source, only parts of it are open source so I don't think it's possible.

I am sorry I had a laugh at your original post.
All the words were so jumbled up and it was quite funny, but at least you have a 2nd language. I only speak English - never learned another language - so you are streets ahead of me in the foreign language department.
Apologies

EHHHHH WHY would you want to pull such an act of f*ckery on a poor defenseless Nexus S? WebOS looks nice and all, but REALLY? I'd rather run windows mobile 5.5 on my Nexus S... (Maybe even 5.0 lol.)
I hope this was one inquiry you were randomly thought about when you fell on your head.

Android is filled with options. If a developer wants to pursue it, then let them.
Don't like it? Don't look at this thread then. Some people would use the ROM to play around with.
I personally wouldn't use it, but another ROM wouldn't hurt either.

It is possible, but as WebOS isn't opensource I don't think it will happen

TouchWiz and Sense are not "apps" they're customized versions of Android OS.
We saw Android run on iDevices. We saw Android run on WP devices (HTC HD7 or something).
That's like saying.. ever seen a PC run Linux?
Anything is possible. As long as somebody puts the time and effort into it. Is it worth putting so much time and effort into WebOS? Not at all. Would it be nice to try out? Sure.

Facts are fact, we have seen Android on iDevices and Windows phones simply because Android is open source. WebOS is not, and without the source code its not gonna happen.

Moved to Q&A.

I too would love to see WebOS on the Nexus S. Android is nice and all but sometimes it's nice to take a break from it.

[OFFTOPIC] Did Google just give away a upcoming Nexus 3?

http://m.engadget.com/default/artic...tegory=classic&postPage=3&icid=eng_latest_art
This quote made me think " Google tells us that Facebook's sync privileges will only be revoked in the Nexus S (not the Nexus One) and other "lead devices" yet to come "
What's so surprising about that? You didn't think the nexus s is the last of the nexus line is it? lol
A lead device comes out tomorrow. See what happens with that one.
First of all, it wouldn't be "Nexus 3" because the numbers dont go: 1,3,4,5,6...
And yeah another Nexus device would come out not sure when.
lol, omg, rofl, lmao blah blah blah. Holy **** I can't get away from this crap. I just don't understand how grown men/women feel this crap is an acceptable way to converse with others.
OK, I'm in a really bad mood and you are the lucky winner of my wrath. My apologies.
EDIT: That was for you Mokurex, but again I do apologize for the rant.
What? You mean the Nexus S won't be the last one?! Who would have known?!
Actually, Google already said there would be one. Like just said it. I don't really feel like going and finding the link but ya...this is far from interesting or new. Good job.
I just hope they come to their senses and move away from Samsung on their next flagship device.

A mature response to an immature rant. There is hope after all.
EDIT: I think there will be a third Nexus phone that I plan on owning.
Not going digging but a source from HTC was rumored/qouted for saying that Google was highly displeased with the nexus s at build. However the phone was set to release and had to ship. He had also said that talks were already under way for the next one to come back home. Something else to note was that Samsung damn near built the phone for free feeling that having the coo of the nexus under them would take them to another level.
IMO they failed in that aspect. I dig my nexus...but its a glorified captivate to me. They could have done much much more. I won't ever buy another Samsung mobile product.

You are exactly right. Google was pissed because unlike the Nexus One which was built from the ground up to be the best, most powerful, most beautiful Android device to date, the Nexus S was really just a rebranded Galaxy S with a curved screen and a NFC chip.

Well someone is lying, either HTC or Google. Cause in the making of the Nexus S video, google said they worked closely with samsung on the design. So if they were displeased it was their own fault not samsung....
Nice one....

I think it is almost a given that there will be another Nexus phone somewhere down the line, as for the timing who knows? I'd like to see it raising the bar like the original Nexus One when Honeycomb and Gingerbread get merged somehow for whatever version it is. Now that would a true Nexus One successor (not that there is anything wrong with the NS but it wasn't revolutionary more evolutionary) .
Just as a side note when I read the title I thought you meant a Galaxy 3 equivalent :/ like the small underpowered one... my bad good laugh though!
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Google have said that there will be a new "Google Experience" device with every major Android release. Eclair (2.1)/Froyo had the Nexus One, Gingerbread had the Nexus S and Honeycomb has the Xoom.
So expect a new Google device, most likely with Nexus branding, when the "I" version of Android is released.

Does Nexus S durability last over 2 years?

I'm considering to buy a long lasting phone and Nexus S seem to be good, do you think it will survive over 2 years without casing? I'm good at caring phone, my current Sony Ericsson G900 is already over 2 years old and still functioning perfectly (it looks worn out clearly) and most people who have my phone broke within a year.
Nexus S is going to be my first Android phone, only thing that I don't like that you can't enable or disable flash in camera mode, it will decide if it should flash or not by it own. The design seem awkward but I could handle it.
I'm also considering Incredible S but it doesn't have enough developers and it's still locked, so I guess I should go for Nexus S.
What do you think, will it survive more than 2 years?

It depends of what you talking about ? If hardware wise maybe and Evo 3D , htc sensation or SGSII but about updates most likely this one , any phone that is in the market and is a high end device most likely get ice cream(next big update for android) , nexus s most likely get it before anyone else(besides maybe nexus 3) google is trying to get manucfactures to make sure their phones they get updates within 18 months since launch but first they havent sign a form or paper that says they will second they haven't said for how long after google releases the update they need to release it as well so for all I know they could take 6 months( Evo is getting official gingerbread after 6 months, rolling out June 6, and the Evo was one of the best android phones in 2010 and a best carrier phone ) So I would stick with google if you want timely updates , that's one of the reason I got Me a nexus s
He is talking about the phone durability and yes, I would say it should last 2 years. It's made of plastic but it's not poor quality, it's much better then the galaxy S.
Since its a Google phone, you can't go wrong on picking it, it will always have the up-to-date software and will always have developers, even after 3 years (well, unless its about hardware limitation).
Its currently one of the best (if not the best) single core devices on the market, its definitely future proof.
And the camera does have the ability to turn the flash on or off, depending on your preferences.
The design is gorgeous btw, at least I think it is. The curve form is unique and when the display is turned off it looks completely black and clean, I think it looks very elegant.

Captivate Windows Phone

Hi Y'all, Just bricked hard bricked my captivate, so its off to become unbrickable, so it got me thinking, who here would put in some cash to buy a cappy and get it unbrickabled for a Dev to port windows phone to the cappy? Maybe try and get featured on the XDA home page.
Anyhoo just an idea
Windows Phone 7 is closed source. The reason why it's good is also the reason you won't get it.
Also you can get a Samsung Focus (Captivate running WP7) off contract for under $250.

I think WP on Captivate is impossible, due to it Chipset and GPU.
I personally think porting win mobile would be a complete loss for the captivate. i thought the whole idea of the android operating system is about freedon and doesnt win mobile pratically take that from you? please dont flame i have never used windows mobile except on my old pantech duo and my old blackjack.
Yeah but all porting it would do is it would give is options, its not like we would be stuck with it.

There are launchers that you can use that would replicate the Windows7 feel on the Captivate.

Agreed. I had the LG Quantum WP7 and I loved it for about a month or so before I sold it on Amazon. WP7 is an awesome concept. It would be AWESOMER if Microsoft would release its sources (that's a laugh, right?)
ANYWHO.... if you want a WP7-like experience, I suggest going with Launcher 7 (DONATE version) or Metro UI (it's "ehh" IMHO)

It kinda sucks how much they're undercutting their iPhone 4 buyers. No siri AND NOW no navigation.
I mean, we usually don't get updates at all, but most of these features were already available on froyo and gingerbread.
Speaking of fragmentation...
http://news.cnet.com/8301-31322_3-5...fragmenting-the-iphone/?tag=mncol;latestPosts
For Apple, it's just not labeled fragmentation. Simply giving out watered down "updates" instead is ok
At least if/when we get a new OS to install we get all the features working. Not some half assed update like Apple is pushing out
And then people wonder why I'm an Android fanboy. How Apple does things and still makes serious $$$ is completely beyond me. And I find it outrageous that people still prefer them when android is CLEARLY better

You never have to pay, not at all. That's the whole flow of Jailbreaking. Even the webhost is a 100% free, with no Ads host. If I ever had to pay to Jailbreak I knew it was 100% BS. Some claimed to have the latest JB, but it wouldn't be a "Jailbreak". Either a ****lyfft instal of Cydia, with no substrate add on's. Or it'd be a waiting list thing for an available "JB server". Then you'd just wait until the JB team released it, and the server would "Open". Paying 50+ bucks for freeware.
Also, iPhone 4s 5.1.1 has an Untethered Jailbreak. It just came out, I still think only the 1st gen iPad has a Jailbreak too.

Whoa, Steve Jobs is turning in his grave right now...LOL! I doubt this would've happened had he still been alive. And all this innovation...it just came out of thin air! The only thing I give the Crapple is that the phone is fast, aside from that, I can't be bothered with it.
You can get phones like that from Japan,Hong Kong on eBay...tho I wouldn't chance it. What you're basically asking for tho...is...an android phone...?

And then people wonder why I'm an Android fanboy. How Apple does things and still makes serious $$$ is completely beyond me. And I find it outrageous that people still prefer them when android is CLEARLY better

"People" (the dumb 70-80% of population) don't want better, they want WHAT THEY SEE ON TV (aka what they have been brainwashed to buy).
Better advertised devices always sell better. It has been proven long time ago before tv existed.
An observation we have "conducted" not long ago in my personal circle of friends and coworkers:
none of those who don't watch TV have any iCrap, while about half of those who watch TV regularily have chosen iFail and other crApple products.

lol you know what he mean't. All iphone users are Dumb and Lazy because they chose not to do a good search on whether android or Iphones were better. Instead your girlfriend just went with all the hype and sold her soul to Apple. Congratulations!
BTW: You also have to live under this extensive list of rules.

iOS or Android? I have a definite answer now...

I've never been an Apple 'fan boy', and the only Apple hardware I ever owned was iPhone 4. I bought it in October 2010 because at that time it had the best display on the market (retina). I've always been a big Google fan and always preferred their products (Chrome, Maps, Drive, etc.). A month ago I ported my phone number to a new carrier (Wind Mobile, Canada) with inexpensive unlimited plans. Wind's frequencies (AWS) are not supported by iPhone yet, so I had to buy a new Android phone (Galaxy Nexus). I was really excited to get Android as my experience with Google was excellent so far. I was very happy with iPhone 4 and iOS, and expected Android to be as good if not better than iOS. I rooted my Android right away and installed 4.1.1. Now I'm gonna share my observations:
Hardware: Galaxy Nexus looks and feels really cheap (like kid's toy): plastic is probably the cheapest Samsung was able to find. Touch screen sensitivity is as bad as it gets - often you have to tap 2-3 times to make it work. Hardly any competition to iPhone 4.
Software: buggy and underdeveloped. I can't believe Google actually seriously markets Android which looks and feels like beta version which requires lots of testing before final release. Some bugs are so outrageous, that I doubt if Google bothered to hire QA team at all: for example when I try so send SMS and use my phone book to enter a recipient's phone number, SMS fails cause a phone number entered is missing area code somehow. What the hell? I think it's a bit over the top. Same apps on Android are not as functional, 'nice' and 'smooth' as on iOS. It looks like Android has lots of potential, but now is still in early stages of development. iOS is by far superior in any aspect at the moment: practically bug free and very user friendly.
Verdict: there are rumours that iPhone 5 will support AWS frequencies - if that's the case, I'm gonna dump Android without any regrets. What a shame, Google!
0/10 really bad failtroll. Try harder, make your story more believable and add in some buzzwords for good measure. This hurts to watch. Back in my day, trolling used to mean something.
I got b& at /a/ for sh!tposting ;_;
Funny though you rooted it immediately and flashed a Rom onto your device which you said was 4.1.1 then you proceeded to ***** about the software which apparently wasn't stock Android we have no clue how you screwed up your own device in rooting your phone. Nice try though "Apple fan boy".

IMO,
Sony makes the best phones as build quality but they're not updating their phones at all, or really late, and they don't put the latest hardware in their phones. (yes other brands usually suck at build quality)
and there is nothing wrong with the Android software,
If Sony makes a Nexus device, that will be the best and the sexiest device out there.

Don't feed the troll. Pic related, what's going to happen.

Well you are running a custom Rom, of course it will be buggy... And unlike iOS that has been the exact same for how many years, android is a developing platform. It has been completely revamped in the last few years.
The custom rom is causing all of your troubles. I have had 3 android phones and I've never had a problem on stock firmware. My rooted Desire died when I clocked it to 2.5Ghz in freezer (motherboard failure), which was MY FAULT. My One V never failed on me and my G1 was live last time I looked at it.
As with build quality - you are blaming the OS? Samsung is plastic galore, why did you pick a galaxy nexus if you want a metal and glass machine? My phone is excellent build quality, cost me 280$ CAD with no contract, it is a middle of the range device - yet it is still an aluminum unibody, and I'm overclocking at 1.5Ghz.
Get a stock android device not made by Samsung and you've got your next iPhone.

If you look at Android then and now, you will see how much it has changed.
If you look at iOS then and now, you see that nothing has changed. They don't want to add more features which is why it seems so bug free.
Kinda like Olympic gymnastics, you have a higher potential score if you plan on doing more complex moves, but also a bigger chance of making a mistake. But if you choose simple, your potential score is low but you probably won't get many deductions. And guess what? Android is the more complex gymnast that will continue to learn more moves. When it makes a mistake, it trains via an update to fix it.

The only thing that IOS has over android is an apple on the back. But we prefer the big LTE on our android phones.

We'll see once winphone 8 comes out. That actually MIGHT give some competition to android. ios will be left in the dust as usual. Also, are you me? I had the same exact thing happen except with an iphone 4 and a milestone xt720.
I never understood why apple fan boys and android fan boys, couldn't just man up, realize and accept that not everyone in the world has the same preferences as they do. They act as if they own the companies or something. Grow up. They're PHONES. It's not that serious and it shouldn't be to begin with.
