As of Tiamat 1.4.0 they work.
so are there any other steps because i have tried using kernel manager and that doesn't seem to download the kernel and force closes on trying to flash from SD card. does this mean i need to use the script to enable the SD reader on the device?

Have you tried using fastboot?
erm...... no so use fast boot to adb the kernel? does the tiamat guide need any specific adaptations for the euro model? do we use cwm?
Hi, I have a uk 3g xoom. I am trying to flash tiamat so I can overclock, can you help me do this, I have tried before and got stuck at the dual core screen.

I just rooted my 3g Xoom and am wondering if its safe or even possible to install the 3.1 updae I'm being prompted to install. If not which method should I follow to manually install it?
You'll just get an error message. Use BRDs method to get 3.1.

Were you successful in upgrading to 3.1?
I've been trying to upgrade to 1.3.1 as an intermediate step, but when I type
adb reboot bootloader, I get the error message
Failed to process command error(0x120000)
Any advice would be appreciated!

My friend have you looked in the same areas you found the rooting process. Look at the headers for 3.1 update for your particular Xoom. I am quite positive there is a zip out there for you.
they all get flashed in clockwork if not See if flashing one of the 3.1 Custom roms will do the trick

This should do the trick...make sure to follow instructions and you do need a micro SD...best if it was formated in an android phone.

Its probably not working cause you are still on the downgraded rom/radio....You need to either flash a custom rom, or flash the stock rom that has the newest radio and OTA updates.
ok umm would u recommend I good rom?

Well my favorite so far is ClearDroid....stable and amazing battery life...
but no matter what you need to upgrade your radio....A good place to start would be this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058042
Its a purely stock rooted rom with all the updates, I would suggest downloading the one that allows side loading...if you want to be able to use the amazon store.
Then at that point you would have the newest radio...so you could flash a custom rom later on.
EDIT: Just a reminder...if you flash the rom in the link above...it has to be done using hboot...not using rom manager or recovery.
Download the zip, rename it PD98IMG.zip (has to be named exactly that), place it on the root of your SD card, unplug from your computer, turn off fast boot, turn off phone, boot into hboot (by holding down power and volume minus until the hboot screen loads) dont press anything, it will find the zip on the 3rd attempt and ask if you want to update....
after i do that how would i go about other ROMs can i just download and load on my phone or will i have to delete the cleardroid. Also what other ROMS would you recommend. i was reading about gingerbeast
Mine worked fine with rooted stock. Just go to market and download flash player from there. May not work on opera but it did for me on the sense built in browser.

There are lots of other great roms out there....each have something different to offer then the next, you just have to keep trying out new ones....and read the stickies in both the general section and the dev section....they explain how to flash roms using rom manger and recovery. You can always, clear data and cache and flash another rom....The link I posted above isn't cleardroid...its just the updated stock rom.

Instructions:
1) Create a folder on your internal SD card called Voodoo. Then create another folder inside of it called disable-lagfix.
2) Make sure the Samsung USB drivers are installed. Installing Kies is a good way to accomplish this. It shouldn't matter which version of Kies you install as they all contain the same USB driver.
3) Download and unzip Odin_Infused_Gingerbread_Kernel_v1.zip.
4) Right click on Odin3_v1.81.exe and run it as administrator.
5) Place your phone into download mode. Do this by powering it completely off and then holding down both volume buttons while plugging in the USB cable.
6) Make sure your phone shows up in Odin as COM##.
7) Click the PDA button and choose PDA_Infused_Gingerbread_Kernel_v1.tar.md5.
8) Press Start.
9) If the phone doesn't automatically reboot after it completes the flash, just pull the battery and then replace it and turn on the phone.
10) You should now be rooted and see the Superuser app installed on your phone.
Optional post root procedures:
-You may want to install BusyBox from the Market after rooting. It's required by some root applications.
-If you would like to revert to the stock kernel after rooting, follow the same procedure but instead use Odin_Stock_Rogers_UXKG3_Kernel.zip. You will not lose root by reverting to the stock kernel. If you enabled Voodoo lagfix at some point, you must disable it before reverting to the stock kernel.
-If you would like to enable Voodoo lagfix, just delete the Voodoo folder you created on your internal SD card and reboot.
-You may access CWM recovery while using the kernel you flashed to get root. To access it, power off your phone and with the phone powered off hold both volume keys and the power button for about 10 seconds and then release.
-You may install my Infused v2 ROM if you wish. Just enable Voodoo lagfix and then follow the instructions titled "Installation from stock or from Infused v1" in my thread. You will not experience the known bugs listed for the ROM like us AT&T owners.

Yep. ## just means some number, any number.
Com port number doesn't matter; hence the ## designation. Your computer will assign whatever I/O port is currently available. May not always be 05. just as long as you wait 'til one is assigned.
ahhh awesome thanks guys! I just wanted to double check =) I'll let you know how it goes !!

Flashing a kernel doesn't erase any data at all. The kernel is what makes the system boot and work, but it isn't tied to your apps at all.
An analogy I can think of is when you change an engine in a car(change a kernel in a phone), none of the CDs in your radio/songs on your mp3 player(apps/data on your phone) are effected at all.

kernel are backend, drivers and such. they are independent of the rom And data. roms can also be flashed without clearing data even in Odin but many devs write scripts that wipe because left over data can cause many issues, especially if there are roms for different carriers and different OS versions available.
Ahhh i see! both very helpful responses thanks guys makes a ton more sense now !!

Yupp i agree ! I was wondering where we all were lol. I am. Are you on stock chewy?
sent from my bad ass infuse
yeah am still on stock, waiting for GB to 'mature a bit'. Also looking forward to some OC action with the kernels.
Edit: I was rooted with GTG465x's rooting kernel for a few days , then had a couple days with lagfix on, it was much faster! Back on stock one now mostly because I REALLY missed the accelerometer sensor.
Is a fix for the sensor issue in this kernel possible? Any other known bugs?
Am I right In thinking that its best to stay out of clockwork kernels, and to flash back to e3 for daily driver duty on the phone.
Would it be feasible to get a Rogers Kernel with Voodoo and Lagfix on e3?
Thanks for any help!

I hope this isn't a silly question, but...
If I just wanted to root, and stick with the stock Roger's kernel from the get-go, can I just run Odin3_v1.81.exe and select the PDA_Stock_Rogers_UXKG3_Kernel.tar.md5 ? OR do I absolutely need to have Infused pushed first.
Thanks! First time Android user, and looking forward to rooting this kickass device.

You need to flash the Infused kernel first and then flash back to the stock kernel. The Infused kernel is what does the rooting.
@gtg465x
So this kernel is based on stock Rogers but with root and voodoo lagfix...please correct me....thanks
No the ROOTER kernel is not stock(I believe GTG465x is source, and I flashed it before Rogers dumps were made), but its the way to root for Rogers Infuses. The phone worked fine here on that kernel, sensor issue was only one I encountered, Voodoo lagfix WAS quicker too. Be sure to follow Voodoo removal instructions before flashing back to stock kernel. The stock kernel retains root and restores perfect accelerator sensor function.
I am a USER, not a DEV ,so please correct me if I'm wrong, I have a thirst for knowledge.

Closest thing would be to make a backup of each and restore the one you plan to use. I currently keep 4 or 5 different roms backed up on my SD card for use as I see fit.

not true dual boot as of yet on samsung phones. if you want a phone to play with like this you should look into an htc hd2. but you can keep backups. the initial 2.3.3 port from the nexus s for the i9000 was a weird dual boot setup, but it wasnt a matter of having a boot menu you had to use odin to flash a different kernel or something. recovery was also broken. dual booting can certainly be hacked together but a proper dual boot method doesnt exist on this device yet.
Thx for the help.

Hello guys,
I have posted about this issue before maybe six or more months ago, but it was not sorted out. So basically my problem is that I am running LeeDroid 3.3.3 on my phone. I have been using this ROM since the first time I rooted my phone. The problem is that I want to change this ROM, but my phone will not run any other ROM at. Any ROM that I install my phone hangs on the white HTC logo screen and does not go anywhere from there. I have had a few instances where my phone would load up a new ROM that I try to use, but it would eventually freeze and when I would restart the phone, it would never get past the white HTC screen. My phone does seem to load up Cyanogen Mod successfully most of the time, but I do not like that ROM. I have tried to re-root my phone, use a different SD card, format my SD card and used both CWR and 4ext recovery to try to install different ROMs. Nothing but the original stock ROM, LeeDroid 3.3.3 and Cyanogen Mod load up and I hope that someone might have dealt with a similar issue over this time that has passed. Thanks for reading and hope you can help!
Mindaugas
did you do complete wipe of phone using super wipe
Yes. I don't use superwipe thought. I just wipe everything with 4ext Recovery. I used to use superwipe, but it did not help.

Make sure that your phone does not have a hardware issue. There's no reason for a custom rom to work and other not if you are S-OFF. Make sure that the roms are for your phone and not for a different device, that might explain that.

Yes, my phone is S-OFF as it says in bootloader and every ROM I try comes from the Inspire 4G Developer section in this forum. I am left to believe that this really is a hardware issue, but how can my phone be the only one? I have never heard anyone else have a similar issue. And it is also weird that LeeDroid 3.3.3 works no problem.

Well I unrooted my phone using the ACE hack kit a few times and then rooted it again and tried to put on a different ROM each time but my phone still does not load the ROM. My phone loads up the backup LeeDroid no problem though. No you need the rooted att pd98 zip. You are already rooted no need to mess with the ace hack kit. Power up with volume down and power button into hboot you should see s-off meaning its rooted just reboot and download zip then just place in root of SD card power off then power up to hboot with volume down and power button it will recognize zip volume up for yes to install let it do its thing then your back to rooted stock att gingerbread rom and radio. Then install whichever custom rom you want just follow their installation instructions on their page.

Do not rename it just place it in root of sd card
Do not use this if you are still s-on
