Closest thing would be to make a backup of each and restore the one you plan to use. I currently keep 4 or 5 different roms backed up on my SD card for use as I see fit.

not true dual boot as of yet on samsung phones. if you want a phone to play with like this you should look into an htc hd2. but you can keep backups. the initial 2.3.3 port from the nexus s for the i9000 was a weird dual boot setup, but it wasnt a matter of having a boot menu you had to use odin to flash a different kernel or something. recovery was also broken. dual booting can certainly be hacked together but a proper dual boot method doesnt exist on this device yet.
Thx for the help.

Please help me I think I brick my g2x I root after that I tried to install the gingerbread leak room but I have like 30 minutes and my phone is stuck in this screen
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
did you install a custom recovery by chance?
no i didn't i download the leaked room gingerbread i put in my phone storage and then i tried to install by room manager
You should still be able to recover the phone using the following post to install ClockworkMod recovery the correct way and flash whatever ROM you like. I believe you must have an external SD card (old one of at least 1GB will work fine) to do this though.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
You do own a T-Mobile branded G2x and not the international LG Optimus 2x, right?
yes is the tmobile version ,, and thanks for ur help i already got back working the phone again thanks alot
No problem but I still recommend installing recovery through NVFlash in that thread.
During the process of rooting and modding my new Wind phone, I ran into a numbered of unanswered threads with people asking for the stock ROM image that came with the “Optimus 2k” phone provided by Wind in Canada. Confusingly labelled, the Optimus 2k from Wind is actually the same phone as the G2X from T-Mobile (LG-P999).
Warning: Optimus 2k firmware of any kind will NOT work on the Wind Optimus 2k. Always use firmware and mods that are designed for the T-Mobile G2X.
I’ve taken a backup of the firmware using Clockworkmod and uploaded below. To restore:
Download the backup from: www.multiupload.com/0BF6Z2FGNW
Decompress the archive to a folder on your SD Card
Boot into Clockworkmod Recovery
Reset to factory default, and clear all caches
Run a ‘restore’ using the decompressed backup on the SD Card
Reboot
You should be good to go. This firmware IS rooted, and has the rootcheck application installed. If you’re restoring the firmware so you can return the phone to Wind or LG, I’d suggest you at least remove the rootcheck application :V
If you have bricked your phone to the point where you can not get into the operating system or into clockworkloader recovery, check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847. It contains the instructions you need to get the clockworkloader recovery on your device so you can perform a restore using the above backup.
I ask that the first person that tries this to post confirming everything works.

Nice. What are the specs in the About screen? I wonder if it differs from the G2x?

Nope. The model shows up as a LG-P999. Wind (and Mobilicity) are unique small independants in Canada, since they run their own UMTS networks (no major carrier uses UMTS here). LG probably just took the G2X phones and branded them back as LG (they look exactly like the Optimus 2k).
Do I need an actual SD card for this or can I just use the internal storage?
Also, how do I boot into clockwork recovery?
Thanks again for posting this! Life saved.

Internal should work fine. I updated the OP with instructions on how to load the clockworkrecovery loader outside of the operating system (assuming you've bricked your phone). Otherwise just install the 'Rom Manager' app.

I'm not a fan of netflix, so I havn't tried. I'm currently trying out Cyanogen 7 RC1.
I have tried recovering from the file you posted but my phone is stuck in a boot loop. The WIND logo comes up and plays a sound and then the device shuts off
You should be able to get into CWM by holding VolDown+Power while booting up.
Flash another backup or another custom rom.
Is it possible to flash a custom ROM with NVFlash?
Yes, I had the same problem with CM7. Just get it into download mode and install nvflash. All fixed.
Can i flash this on my g2x like flashing any other roms with cwm and it will work???
i wont brick my phone?

Thank you SO much for clearing that up. I just got the Wind "Optimus 2K" and couldn't, for the life of me, figure out why it was a LG-P999.
So this isnt fake aosp like the g2x its original optimus 2x firmware? I would love to try it on my g2x but don't want a brick. I did use nvflash for my recovery so I should be good if it doesn't boot up right?

Is this the same boot loop you were seeing previously, or is this new after imaging? If the latter, then did you wipe the device to defaults and clear all of the caches in clockworkmod recovery?
If it's the former, where are you stuck in my instructions?

If you have a G2X phone from verizon this firmware should work perfectly. The stock firmware from Wind isn't bad actually, since they didn't add any bloat. I think the only customization is the wallpaper (which is ugly) and boot animation.

The only difference is the date on the baseband. Everything else is the same from what ive seen. Might be different software version, i recall 11H being the version for the software. Have cm7 84 installed so i cant verify it but i believe it was newer then the tmobile ones.

wipe data/system/cache and reflash
the whole under 8 forum posts "anti spam module" is really aggressive holy hell.
I'm making this post because the fix, and the cause for the problem seems to be different.
My friends captivate was rooted with the latest cm7 rom for about a month now, and just last night after he performed a reboot a message that stated{ phone.android.not.found} started to flash on, and off it wouldn't allow him to do anything.
I booted his phone in to recovery to flash his backup but it failed, after I did another reboot. It just froze on the white at&t world phone screen. I've tried to boot in to recovery by using all button methods. Odin3 failed to recognize the phone. Drivers are installed.
its a I897 version. I really don't know what my next step should be.
In hindsight I should have just pulled the sim and put it back in. I think that would have fix the warning sign.
I'm going to try the jig option today, but any other advice would be helpful.
The backup in question: was it a 2.2 backup?
Sent from my Inspire 4G
I'm not 100% sure but I think it was just a stock root 2.1 back up.

Sounds like you need to flash a stock ROM with Odin. If you tried to load rfs based ROM over the cm7 file system (I think its a combination of ext4 and yaffs), it won't work.

also, kernels/modems dont backup on nandroids, therefore they dont restore either
OP, you are on a 2.3.3 cm7 kernel with a 2.1 rom
ODIN flash a 2.1 kernel
done
So I finally got my jig in. so it goes in to boot mode which is awesome, but odin still won't recognize the phone. I've tried 3 different computers.

Hello guys,
I have posted about this issue before maybe six or more months ago, but it was not sorted out. So basically my problem is that I am running LeeDroid 3.3.3 on my phone. I have been using this ROM since the first time I rooted my phone. The problem is that I want to change this ROM, but my phone will not run any other ROM at. Any ROM that I install my phone hangs on the white HTC logo screen and does not go anywhere from there. I have had a few instances where my phone would load up a new ROM that I try to use, but it would eventually freeze and when I would restart the phone, it would never get past the white HTC screen. My phone does seem to load up Cyanogen Mod successfully most of the time, but I do not like that ROM. I have tried to re-root my phone, use a different SD card, format my SD card and used both CWR and 4ext recovery to try to install different ROMs. Nothing but the original stock ROM, LeeDroid 3.3.3 and Cyanogen Mod load up and I hope that someone might have dealt with a similar issue over this time that has passed. Thanks for reading and hope you can help!

did you do complete wipe of phone using super wipe
Yes. I don't use superwipe thought. I just wipe everything with 4ext Recovery. I used to use superwipe, but it did not help.

Make sure that your phone does not have a hardware issue. There's no reason for a custom rom to work and other not if you are S-OFF. Make sure that the roms are for your phone and not for a different device, that might explain that.

Yes, my phone is S-OFF as it says in bootloader and every ROM I try comes from the Inspire 4G Developer section in this forum. I am left to believe that this really is a hardware issue, but how can my phone be the only one? I have never heard anyone else have a similar issue. And it is also weird that LeeDroid 3.3.3 works no problem.

I had and issue with a custom rom don't recall which one is was but it would not let flash any other rom I had to use the rooted att pd98 zip to back to rooted stock then installed a custom rom with no issues after that. Well I unrooted my phone using the ACE hack kit a few times and then rooted it again and tried to put on a different ROM each time but my phone still does not load the ROM. My phone loads up the backup LeeDroid no problem though. So I was wondering if something from LeeDroid changed my phone that it does not accept any other custom ROMs. I wonder also if I unrooted the phone with a new pd98 zip from a phone that didnt have LeeDroid on would possibly help?

No you need the rooted att pd98 zip. You are already rooted no need to mess with the ace hack kit. Power up with volume down and power button into hboot you should see s-off meaning its rooted just reboot and download zip then just place in root of SD card power off then power up to hboot with volume down and power button it will recognize zip volume up for yes to install let it do its thing then your back to rooted stock att gingerbread rom and radio. Then install whichever custom rom you want just follow their installation instructions on their page.

Do not rename it just place it in root of sd card
Do not use this if you are still s-on

Hello everyone,
It's my first time witnessing this issue, I do have a Samsung Galaxy S 4G. So I decided to upgraded Eclairs to Gingerbread. Which I did.
Somehow I downloaded the CM7 ROM in the SGS 4G section, I have flashed it and now everytime I click "reboot system now", it's just putting me back to CWM Recovery over and over again. Now I got tired of it, so I tried flashing the SlimBean in hopes of making my device work the way they should, but it's the same result. When I cleared data, flashed the ROM and Gapps and when I click "reboot system now", It shows the boot screen but then it transferred me back to recovery. I don't really know what to do.
Urgent help needed. Thank you all.

Yes I can, also tried it with CM9, same results it shows recovery everytime. I need some help. :crying:
You say you went from Eclair (Did this phone even come with that? I thought it started with Froyo. Huh. At least, mine did.) to Gingerbread. Is the Gingerbread you started with CM7, or did you start with one that actually has normal GB bootloaders first? Because if you haven't yet, as with any major bootlooping issue, you'll want to use a proper GB one-click. If you failed to double-flash one of those to get the GB bootloaders earlier, do that ASAP. And hope hard that they come.
You are missing the boot loader if you went straight to Gingerbread. Use Heimdall One Click to flash to Gingerbread. Also click on the bootloader option as well when you flash.
