lol, when I think of phones now-a-days I cant help but think of the N-gadget I think it was nokia right?or N-gauge it was a flop no matter what its name was. But to think my cell phone can handle games like my computer and soon my ps3/Xbox360 is really exciting! Google you are god of the cell phone world and you have only just got in the game.
oh crap! I think I figured out who the anti-christ is! the little android dude!
Its gingerbread and google never said that its gonna be os 3.0 its probably gonna be 2.5
Well...we fight to see 2.2, hope 2.3 maybe in the next 5 years, 2.4 in the next life maybe.......

Interesting...we are behind lol. Still getting some dev love though so if they can figure it out to get 2.3 I am not to worried about it coming from Samsung.
Saw this in the i9000 Gingerbread port thread too.
But notice the kernel version... it's identical to Froyo's...

Wasn't Eclair the same way?
DJ_Steve is the man! Got that Honeycomb 3.1 running on my streak thanks to him and Hellzya! This really makes the device much sexier. The density issue is small for me since I don't have a problem reading small print, but it doesn't work for my dad at all.. luckily most web browsers support a zoom feature as that is the primary reason we have the tab. I have no questions... I'm a noob yes... but only to these boards. Not to rooting or anything like that. I love android... hell even jailbroke a few ipods. I'm just not a programmer or anything like that. If I were I wouldn't hesitate to offer help for all this beautiful android hacking.

I have a HoneycomB theme running on my HD2 and love it. It's actually a Gingerbread/CM7 ROM and CM7 is pure excellence. Android and CM7 is heaven

I have CM7 on my Optimus v. I LOVE THIS THING. It's made everything about this phone, especially the battery life, better. Rooting is fun. lol. GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKK OOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUTTTTTTT!!!
HoneyComb is awesome!!!!
Yeah, honeycomb is awesome.Only problem is that Google decided to become [email protected]*ckers on the matter and don't release the damn source code so that it could be ported to phones.Yes,Ice Cream Sandwich will have Honeycomb's features and is near to be released, but is it the spirit of XDA to wait for official stuff?Nah,I don't think so.
Come on Google,Android is supposed to be open.I don't want to buy a tablet. Not yet at least,I don't like the Tegra 2(The Exynos on my Galaxy S II makes Tegra 2 devices look like cheap toys, that's why ).And when the Tegra 3 will be out,Ice Cream Sandwich will be out too.

Why wait? Have some HC goodness with a GB-CM7 HC themed ROM.
I love the way youtube looks on HC. I just wish more apps worked on it. I many of my favorite apps crash on me in HC, but they aren't things I can't live without. Besides, whatever doesn't run there typically does on the phone so I still get my apps one way or another. One day we will have android installed in our brains and I will have to root myself.
Hi, I have grown sick of this 2.3 system, I know their are some benefits from it and I should be grateful that they shipped it with 2.3 but I prefer 2.2 (without Sense).
I am aware that normally it is quite easy to port 2.2 but the problem I have is the ChaCha is QWERTY and it's specifications are not that similar to 2.2 handsets so I was wondering if anyone would assist me in bringing a 2.2 ROM to the ChaCha or at least point me in the right direction? (+ 4.0 is coming soon so it would be good if you could do it before then as it will have Sense too)
Surely you just want 2.3 without Sense? Plenty of HTC phones came with 2.2 and Sense. They've been adding Sense since at least 1.6.
Best bet would be to try and take the proprietary kernel files and backport them and hack them into a 2.2 liberty (or other msm7227) kernel. Good luck with that.
Hellot there i just received a new tablet for christmas abd i wanted to learn some new things.
First oglf all i have to admit it that i am new to this android scene. I am a fan of apple but wheb it comes to tablets i guess abdroid has an advantage. whatever this is not the purpose of my message.
What i wabted to know is this: I received an Le Pan tc 970 but i saw they got the new Le Pan 2ut with the honeycomb support . My question is: is it worth rerurning this current tablet to buy the new one just because it has a new firmware on it? Or the hobeycomb isnt that much of a deal abd I should keep this one? Any advantages to buy the ther one in comparasion to this ine except it is new? Does it have much more feature than 2.2?
If not I know abdroid is the world of customizations... but i dont seem to get it. Do i need to root my system in order to makee tose customizatiobs available? I didnt ser that much themes for this tablet... also it doesbt even have its own section... Is it because the tablet isnt that popular?
Finally could i have some few threads to get me started? I kniw pretty much abiut apple... but Andriid is completly new to me!
Thanks! And sorry for all of the mistakes... The keyboard makes my mind go nuts... it is too big!
Honeycomb (Android 3.0) is newer version than froyo (2.2).
If you can get one with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) then it is worth returning it
and get a new one.
Most of the tablets are running Froyo or Gingerbread (Android 2.3) .
Honeycomb is closed source, google has not released its software to public.
All other versions as of now are open source AOSP (Android Open Source Platform)
ask them whether it can be upgraded to ICS (4.0)
Well honeycomb is kinda better for tablets since it has a tablet ui but now since they released ics you should check if your tablet is getting the ics update which has a bunch of new features and if it doesn't i think you should get one with the new os.
Right! Look for ics update. It is much better
I don'T think there are many tables with ICS...? Am I wrong? And what about a starter guide?
