Sorry if this has been posted already (search isn't working for me right now).
We hear by way of our good friend Sascha Pallenberg that a component shortage is to blame for the low initial volumes of the Asus Transformer. Apparently Asus is running well below of its capacity and only outing about 10k units per month, rather than 300k. The shortage is reportedly expected to remain until mid-June. No word on exactly which component is to blame here, but it doesn’t really matter as the damage has been done. The Transformer is just the latest sob story for Android fanboys everywhere.

only 10k a month is a crazy small amount but I guess it makes sense considering how limited the NA release was. Hopefully they get things up and running soon and get everyone their transformers (myself included!)

Sob story?

I am guessing its referencing how people who want an android tablet first had the xoom which was fairly disappointing due to the price, and now that we have an "ipad killer" we can't even get stock of it?
Perhaps the more important news is that the shortage is expected to last only through mid-June (ie. six more weeks.)
Also interesting that their source wasn't able to give a reason for the shortage, but that they repeat exactly what I'd heard elsewhere (in the original German article) -- a shortage of touch panel components caused by the explosion in sales of tablets. They also make the exact same speculation as I've done in these forums, that Asus' extremely low pricing has left them bidding the least for the touch panel components, meaning that they're the company who can't get any stock.
It just means that in 6 weeks we will have much more stable tablet.
I've read somewhere that the shortage is with the LCD screens.
Aye....hopefully this isn't true. But if it is, you have to wonder which retail outlet will get the 10k that do come through each month.
By early June, Samsung and others will be shipping. Some people that were on the fence about which way to go will switch to another device which would also help reduce the backlog.
If it was a screen shortage there should be a ****load of docks but even less of those!!!

I came across this looking for a replacement for my MDA, want a better one. Look at this one on http://www.jarengoh.com/

tried PIE and wm5 opera I think you might have a dead link

It looks great, but they don't say what it has (hardware wise) besides the camera and WiFi.
Is there BT? How much memory? Screen resolution? Is it a Smartphone or Pocket PC based? (touch screen?)
It's not on the products page of the company they gave the link to, so I don't see anything to be excited about yet.
From memory, I believe this is supposed to cost around $300,000, with the White Diamond consumer end model around $4000.

Addition to the design phones
Hi people,
Here are two additions to the design phones. Both are concept though.
But still are really wicked.
So have a look and let's hope the companies do build such smartphones.

I don't know the rules about forum swearnig but "F**k me!" that's a breath taking phone...even more breath taking than the V3 RAZR and on the same level of breath taking as the Vertu range, which cost around £3,000.
Oh my gosh I've just discovered that Vertu is owned by Nokia Corporation ... so they're just high-end flashy Nokia mobiles?
Uh, what a disgrace!
Nice find
Vertu are hardly high end, feature wise, but they're blingin.
A guy at work here has the Bang & Olufsen Serene, which is also expensive, and damn user unfriendly. But at least it has a motorized self open/close mechanism

All of these jaw-dropping / mouth-watering / breath-taking phones are just pure luxury...I think I'm just going to have a heart-attack and collapse ontop of the Pool table.

hi guyz ,
since honeycombe announced and i am saving money to buy honeycombe tablet but i need help!!
seems like the most known tablets are so expensive and even made me more reluctant to buy them (i didnt like LG) so i have to options the XOOM and the galaxy tab 10.1v,i cant wait for the new GTab coz i hv no one can bring it with him and 28th of this month is my dead line....
so i need your help do you recommend the XOOM to me? is there any bugs/problems with it ( i'll buy the wifi version only)? is it weight a huge problem as media have said? what about the screen is it bad that much?
the Gtb 10.1v is more expensive the XOOM but also with 3G, lighter weight and better screen (as others said,i dont know), but taking in mind in SA it $900 (while the XOOM $600 32GB) it doesn't have an HDMI port and for 16GB
i am stuck in here so i need your help please...
P.S i really care about the updates/support and the performance
Weight is no problem for me. Even when reading comics for a long ass time, I would just switch hands.

thanks guys i think the XOOM is my choice!!
I saw a thread on a different forum talking about how Deji batteries are better than stock. But they're the same mah so it makes no sense to me.

So I found this one
http://www.dinodirect.com/lg-p990-battery-rechargeable-li-ion-1500mah.html
For the P990 (Which we can use for the p999 right?)
Anyone know anything else about these batteries?
Bought one for a Droid pro and w550i. The w550 mah must be a lie seeing as the weight don't make sense... says it has double the capacity but thats impossible
But the bp6x is at least as good as stock. Not sure yet if better, hard to say. Possibly some strange reporting of % but that could be my phone...
That said both are li-ion and mugen is polymer... what do you think? They look quality but I need to test more....
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Yes, the P990 will work with the G2X P999.
I bought a battery a week ago... maybe you should have posted this earlier lol ;p.

I wouldn't worry. Of the ones I've tried the batteries are at least as good as stock...
it's just that you can't get more mah into a battery without increasing it's weight (and usually size( so some mah will be false. That's why a Mugen increased capacity usually pushes out the back cover a bit on some phones and so my case no longer fits on my i9000.
Also I notice the status on my DroidPro isn't reporting accurately.
In short, they're still a typical chinese lie but they're at least as good as stock.
Took me a while to figure out the BS but in short there is generally no way to get increased capacity without more size unless talking about much older phones.
edit: Need more testing but as far as I can see these are the best you can get (allowing for price)
I own a Droid 4 and recently dropped it, cracked the digitizer, and replaced it. Now my touch screen is only detecting these thin horizontal lines on the upper half of the screen. I'm wondering if it's possible that I screwed up the phone on disassembly/reassembly or if it's more likely that the new digitizer is defective.
Has anyone seen anything like this before?
Thanks,
Alex
P.S. The attachment is a screen shot of my phone running an app which detects points sent by the touch screen/digitizer and records them.

Bump
Firstly - please don't bump your own threads, and certainly not until at least 24 hours have passed.
Secondly - The reason for you not getting a reply is likely due to the fact that XDA is actually supposed to be a "Development" site, not a "Hardware" site
Thirdly - The likelihood is that you either;-
a) bought a cheap, eBay special digitiser which is not fully compatible
b) didn't get the connections right on install
c) broke something else inside the phone when you dropped it
Start off by taking it all apart again and rebuilding it, if that doesn't work then decide if you want to spend more money buying another digitiser or just ditch the phone and get a new one.
P.S. Why include a pointless poll for this thread?
P.P.S. Not sure why, but you have made two posts and XDA shows you as only making one. Strange.
That is classic yo, made my night. Well I was just checkin in here cause I couldn't find a more appropriate forum. I figured someone might know something, but yeh sorry bout the bumps. Although it did get you to respond, hopefully I didn't break something. I don't think so because everything on the phone works perfectly, I even fixed the little headset speaker. After much arm pulling I finally convinced the company to give me a refund, we'll see if a new one does the trick.

Hello there.
General all around inquiry:
I bought a White LG G2 for USD$629 off-contract from AT&T (D800) on December 2, 2013. Right now it’s unlocked but still, LTE bands are those from AT&T (AWS). I dropped it, and screen cracked and digitizer stopped working for half the screen. I bought the repair kit from Fixez for USD$65. Everything else is as good as it can be.
How much can I sell it for? I want to be straight here, it’s okay if there are no “winnings” for me. I just want to be fair to the person that already made me the offer to buy it from me.
If you fix it, you should he able to get 200. You may get more selling online but fees, fees and more fees will net around same.
Most people don't want to buy it with cracked screen even if it comes with the screen on side. Glws

Yes, that’s kind of the price point I was aiming at.

I just bought one with a cracked screen off the bay for 50 bucks! I need the logic (mother) board out of it...
USD$50? Holy cow. Must have been trashed. Mine was only a small cracked line, and well, the top 50% of the touch controls not working.
I ended up selling mine for USD$200.
Thank you for the help!
