I came across this looking for a replacement for my MDA, want a better one. Look at this one on http://www.jarengoh.com/
Its a XScale 400MHz and 4MP camera, and WM5..... Coming out soon. What do you think?
tried PIE and wm5 opera I think you might have a dead link
matrix849:
Try desktop browser. The whole page is one big flash so I doubt anything on the PPC will show it properly.
weezy:
It looks great, but they don't say what it has (hardware wise) besides the camera and WiFi.
Is there BT? How much memory? Screen resolution? Is it a Smartphone or Pocket PC based? (touch screen?)
It's not on the products page of the company they gave the link to, so I don't see anything to be excited about yet.
From memory, I believe this is supposed to cost around $300,000, with the White Diamond consumer end model around $4000.

Yep, bang on it's on the website at $300,000 available 2007
I think I'll buy two
Buying that phone you would think does it come with 8 rooms and a five car garage. Still good phone to look at
Addition to the design phones
Hi people,
Here are two additions to the design phones. Both are concept though.
But still are really wicked.
So have a look and let's hope the companies do build such smartphones.

I don't know the rules about forum swearnig but "F**k me!" that's a breath taking phone...even more breath taking than the V3 RAZR and on the same level of breath taking as the Vertu range, which cost around £3,000.
Oh my gosh I've just discovered that Vertu is owned by Nokia Corporation ... so they're just high-end flashy Nokia mobiles?
Uh, what a disgrace!
Nice find
Vertu are hardly high end, feature wise, but they're blingin.
A guy at work here has the Bang & Olufsen Serene, which is also expensive, and damn user unfriendly. But at least it has a motorized self open/close mechanism

Take a look at this too http://keesoo.multics.org/articles/jan2005/se/se_design.htm
This is strange looks like Wizard (designer is so impressed I think)
All of these jaw-dropping / mouth-watering / breath-taking phones are just pure luxury...I think I'm just going to have a heart-attack and collapse ontop of the Pool table.

Read about it here. Sad news. I was planning to replace my SE P990i with it. The Nokia E90 suddenly looks very nice. (I would pick the Kaiser but I have had enough of QVGA displays.)
Bad news. It only makes me want the HTC Omni even more
HTC Shift
Maybe the HTC Shift? Recent rumors about it being able to run Windows Mobile makes it an interesting machine. I've always wanted to look like a fool taking a call on a brick-like PDA.
I read on another site that this news is confirmed "NOT TRUE" as they are released at different times. Also there should be a 6th model.

Too big for a WinMo device, too small for a decent WinTel one.
I prefer a 4"-at-max PDA + a preferaby ~12" full-featured, lightweight (x61s, for example) subnotebook.
seems it was just a rumour

..Clove has removed that news piece!
Entire Ultimate series still on track
I can't wait for another clamshell PDA to come out. I do agree with Meinsys that the SHIFT is too big. It has nice features, but the size just turns me OFF from it. Plus on another site I saw, the reviewer said it has no phone application included, so basically it is just a PPC and Vista. I'd rather have the PPC and Phone with a decent camera in one device.
I am actually awaiting the release of the HTC Omni and the IMate 7150. Once they're both out, I'll wait a bit for the reviews to come out, before I decide which to choose.

7150 is not axed, but panned for next year that is 2008, may b early 2008.This is 100% true
I am using an ATHENA. I use my home PC (with RDP) as XP machine on-the-road, having all my files safely stored there (and NOT on-the-road )
It isn't my best phone, is my best SECOND phone, EXCALIBUR is in my shirt's pocket and ATHENA is the heavvy-duty device. Size doesn't matters but helps! and a PPC used with mouse, connected to a big display (4 in 1 cable is a must for ATHENA owners) is IMHO the best choice for business users
I will vote for a better ATHENA as next killer device for managers, bigger resolution, backlight for the keyboard, HSUPA
Two phones, same OS... I am still using my old laptop sometimes but my back and my right shoulder are really happier now!

Have you found a good case with a belt clip for it?
Imagine hanging this baby (HTC Shift) on your belt. Serious unpantsing-risk!

No, I don't. During the winter I use coats with big pockets, no jeans and without the leather case it fits in my pants pocket
Hi boys and girls!
I was planning on buying the new Diamond 2 as soon as it hit the shelves here in Norway, but as HTC still thinks I should pay for the repair of an USB port which was DOA I have decided to try to find some other phone...
So - anyone have any good suggestions?
Cheers!
Nokia 5110
I prefer the lime green casing myself, but that is personal preference, as is selecting a device or a type of wine.

@ Red: Thanks for the suggestion, but I find it too small for my liking. My three "musts" are:
1. The handset need to be sturdy. If i forget my hammer, I need something to hit other drivers with.
2. Must come with its own backpack, and the fabric must be washable.
3. I sometimes use the phone in my care, so the top part must be possible to detach from the battery. There just isn't space in my estate car to have the battery in the front.
My best bet til now is this model:

haha great response. With all honesty go with something a bit inexpensive in the meantime if you are waiting for TP2 to be released in your country.
Actually, I'd rather go for something NOT from HTC...
Go for Touch Pro 2 or Toshiba TG01
Or buy the new HTC Touch HD ...
Thanks for the suggestion. Will have to have a look at the Toshiba. As for HTC, I'd really like to stuff the aforementioned phone (the Ericsson) somewhere the sun don't shine. Unfortunately, I think I will have to use "most people" as a baseline for sun-exposure, as I have a feeling these guys (?) do a lot of "work" on all fours
I understand your reluctance to get a HTC again I for one have a HD which is actually really good although when i first brought one it had 3 dead pixels and although htc wouldnt replace it the shop i brought it from would, now after 3 months or so my replacement has just developed a stuck pixel which I have never seen before I've has so many products with lcd screens and worked in a shop for a bit that sold them and only ever seen them come with a dead/stuck pixel. its not really noticeable but very annoying considering the price of the phone. So I was thinking thats the last time i buy a htc but then I realized there isn't any 1 else who makes anything near as good in terms of features and looks.
my first choice would be the hd
go for the HD or a super processor snapdragon on the Toshiba TG01
Been a long time HTC user, my first was a Prophet (Orange M600) and loved it before moving up to a Kaiser (O2 XDA Stellar) before getting a Rhodium (Direct HTC Touch Pro2, no airtime mess) and they've all been brilliant.
Now I'm out of contract and not liking the looks of WinMo at the moment, I was perfectly happy with 6.5 but seems like MS have other ideas, so I'm quite tempted to go 'droid and the Desire being the pick of the crop so it seems.
Thing is it's been out a little while and maybe a replacement is due soon? Plus I've kind of got used to the hardware keyboards and going back to onscreen on my Prophet is not fun (or even using the Rhodiums when in it's overboard waterproof pouch when I'm out cycling - in case of rain) so that kind of puts me off.
I've seen some rumours for a HTC Vision but to be honest the design doesn't fill me when awe and the keyboard looks like a step back to the Kaiser days.
So what can people recommend? Will I get over my hardware keyboard addiction with a Desire, will I be best waiting a month or two (pretty hedonistic so probably won't wait more than that) or is there a handset out there that I've overlooked that would be ideal for me?
P.S. - no iPhones, tried a 3G and had a look at a four a guy at work had and simply loathe the things.
IMO Currently I wish I had an Android phone of my own. Right now I have TP2 with WinMo 6.5, its decent and ok for now, but Android seems much more appealing to me.
Dell Streak(AKA, Dell Mini 5) - http://www.gsmarena.com/dell_streak-3353.php
HTC Evo 4g - http://www.htc.com/us/products/evo-sprint#tech-specs
Samsung Captive/Galaxy S - http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i897_captivate-3408.php http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9000_galaxy_s-3115.php
Just some phones you could look at.
Thanks for the recommendations - based in the UK so the Evo is out I'm afraid. GalaxyS doesn't look half bad so might have a read up on it.
Being an IT Engineer I've slated Dell for years so wouldn't be able to show my face holding one of those (though the size on it you probably wouldn't be able to see my face holding one ).

Panasonic ???
iPhone | ??? | GSII
Specs are actually unknown but they wanna make high end devices. All we know is that it will be dust/water resistant. Perfect for me. If I get any opportunity to change my OB, it will be a "PanaPhone".
CES 2012 will be great
It looks so much so like my old HTC diamond
Panasonic announced plans to launch its first global smartphone in Europe next year in March. Company has not sold mobile phones in Europe since January 2006.
In the announcement company has not declared its name but did say that this slim bezel phone features an ultra-slim D-shaped design for easy portability with a 4.3-inch qHD OLED screen and would be waterproof and dustproof. Other specs are undisclosed...........

Good to see them getting back into the smart phone game. More competition means better quality phones for all.
I look forward to seeing what they release in March.
panasonic phone looks like the Prada phone
That actually looks pretty good
they arrive a little late, hoping this won't affect their ambitions. It will also be very good if launch prices are not too high. I'm very interrested of that.
the price and how commen the components are would sell me on them.

Have to wonder how waterproof/dustproof will relate to repairing devices.
Some companies have made it easier (apple) but every android phone I have opened has been a hassle! Maybe they will just glue them shut so nobody can open them
I should say Jp's industrial design is great
It is a interesting sharing........
Always been a fan of Panasonic, let's hope these continue their line of excellent products.
The last and only time I had a Panasonic phone was back in the days when phones had external antennas!!
if panasonic can somehow get their LX5 camera with phone capability running Android ICS, I would buy that phone in a heart beat.
I like their design but sadly they never have a single phone that's run on my carrier's frequency band.
Although there hasn't been any official announcement of the HTC One Mini, we all know that it is coming, and we know a fair bit about the device. Although, there really isn't a whole lot to know. The device is going to be an HTC One... mini. Still, we've got some leaked pics of the AT&T version of the device, and surprise surprise, it looks like a smaller HTC One.
Luckily, whoever has their hands on the device knew enough to take pics of info screens, so we know that the device has a dual-core QualcommCPU with an Adreno 305 GPU (aka a Snapdragon 400), 1GB of RAM (although previous pics have said 2GB), 16GB of internal storage (with about 11GB free), Android 4.2 with Sense 5, and LTE. We've learned before that the HTC One Mini will have a 4.3" 720p display, although that's not listed in the images here.
We already knew that the HTC One Mini is coming to AT&T, and that's the branding on these pics.

It looks like a knock-off One
Storage size is really pushing it. But that is a fun looking mid-ranger. Give it a solid kernel with s2w and l2m, I wouldn't mind it as a backup phone.

Kind of like the BMW 1-series looks like a smaller 5-series. The One's a beautifully crafted phone made with high-end materials. The Mini's a "phone." I can see the design of the One swaying people toward HTC, not so much with the Mini. Its design isn't special but it’s unique because of the dual frontal speakers and UltraPixels. We'll see how it does. The SGS3 Mini has been out for eight months and you hardly ever hear it mentioned anywhere. Its general forum has 143 threads; this one after just four months has 1,091. At least on XDA, mini phones with mini specs don't create a lot of buzz.
233 MB available ram??? WTF, is this really true for every one mini?
