I commute for my new job, so I'm rockin' the wife's Jetta, which doesn't have XM like my truck does.
Anyone have a recommendation of a good FM transmitter for the G2x? Wired or Bluetooth would be fine, as long as I can also charge my phone while using it.
Thanks,
-bZj
Do you have a cassette player in that car? In my experience, the sound quality is a lot more reliable from the old cassette adapters like this adapter from Walmart
I have a duel radio in my car that connect with Bluetooth and has a ubs in the front that I use to charge my phone. It cost around $160. (With HD radio and CD player). I use a cheep air vent car mount for easy use.

This is very cool! Looks very functional.
While that is nice and clean looking,it seems as its just a wired FM modulator you can pick them up for as little as $14 and just charge your phone with a typical charger, if you are handy you can make a custom switch panel if you would like
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bravo-View-FM-007-Wired-FM-Modulator-for-Mobile-Video-Systems/14931309
if you want all the wires and a switch you can pick these up locally for around $30 http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-Audio-FM-Modulator-Universal/dp/B0007THIDQ
I ended up grabbing a Griffin iTrip. Works OK, and requires no tearing into the dash. I've done that before (wired my first XM unit), but I don't want to do it in the wife's car.

I bought one from Amazon over a year ago after reading many reviews. The GTMax Wireless In-Car Bluetooth FM Transmitter is the best one I have ever had. It's $50 and worth every penny. It has a good quality flexible stalk that plugs in to the lighter socket. It works without distortion thru a bluetooth connection in my car. There's 3.5mm input and output jacks and a usb charging port. It can amplify the signal to increase volume. The antenna broke off of the roof of my car and the reception is still perfect, the FM transmitter is very stong.
I picked up the same thing from buy.com for $35. Just came in the mail today - so far, I'm impressed.
I got the GTMax BT transmitter, and it made me return the iTrip. It works great!

based on the pictures, they both look like they are from GTMax... just one doesn't have the micro USB cables come with it. The output charging amerpage is decent at 1 amp. The dock and fm transmitter is a bonus and seems like you can't go wrong at this price. Based on reviews, it seems decent enough.
I trust XDA input over anything else though
Anyone on here have experience with these GTMax fm transmitters? Or could anyone somehow confirm they are both from GTMax?

i have the akg k370 whcih dont work with my SGS, since the order of the pins is differend (mic and ground are switched).
since i love that headset im looking for a working adaptor
i couldnt find any in the internet
so far i managed to solder my own from an old adapter which didnt use its microphone pin.
but since it looks...lets say...selfcrafted im looking for one that works that u dont have to cut open and change the pins your self (or add a wire as i did)
if u know of any working ones which use all 4 pins and switch ground and mic pls tell me where i can buy em...
Similar issue here. I have Dr. Dre Beats and from what I've found from reading through is that I need to switch the ground/mic wires? I can do this if necessary and can even get a nice job done of it, but wouldn't this break my headset for other phones/players?
Point being a nice adapter would be sweet.
I bought this one, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290460258359&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Still waiting it gets here.
Surely if the ground connection was different then no standard plugs/phones would work or does the phone dynamically change the ouputs on pins depending on what's plugged in (since it has to support tv out as well)?

got the same ones, they work fine.
those adaptors and the nokia ones work, but they make the cable too long besides considering that the headsets mentioned already has a mic and you add another adaptor mith a mic, its simpler to just have an adaptor that switches the mic and ground terminals around
so what i did is i made this

i took my nokia ad-57 adaptor, cut the wire, cannibalized a female 3.5mm 4pole from some generic adaptor, soldered the wire so that ground from the 3.5male is soldered to the second ring from tip. thus, simply, the female of the adaptor is wired like an iphone compatible, and the male is wired galaxy s compatible.
if you cant be bothered to diy, you can get this http://www.kvconnection.com/product-p/km-354r3m-r2f.htm

damn, that's expensive. but I guess it'll be worth it to make my "expensive" headphones work, lol.
i found one on DX, comes with MIC so you can asnwer the phone and listen without taking out the headphones
waiting for it to arrive and test to see if it's compatible with SGS
I had to stick black tape around my mic button on the headphones I used to use on my iPhone, I kept the same headphones cause they were amazing sound and pricey and didn't want to chuck them away, Didn't realize it would be a problem lol, I want one of these adapters from a Uk store

I got a blackberry headset from my local street market. The earphones that came with it sound horrible, and the mic is a bit soft. There is no need to change anything however and the button works.
I'm planning on using it with the aux in of my car radio. With computer speakers it seemed to work (no echo). And it works well with a headphone.

Apart from the very ordinary wired remote that comes with the DHD, does anyone know if there's another HTC or a third party wired remote that will work with the DHD?
I'm after something with music controls (back and forward, play / pause and of course volume control). Additionally being able to plug your own headphones in is a MUST.
The RC E100 (below) would be PERFECT, but it's not for the DHD (apparently?). Anyone successfully modded this for the DHD?

+1 here. I dont know but by somehow the stock earphones come with the DHD are ********IT! Even worse than some non-branded 2nd earphones out there
I am really interested in a product like this. The oem earphone from the box is a joke.

Yes, some more voices!
Surely there are more people who use their DHD to play music and surely they have their own headphones that are far superior in quality to the OEMs that come with the DHD.
I actually use two different pairs of headphones each day. A nice Sennheiser inner-ear ear bud pair, and an over the head "cup" pair by Audia-Technica. I use the ear buds when I'm out and on the go; walking, on the train, etc. I use the over the head pair when I'm sitting at the desk. So obviously the need for using your own 'phones is there.
If it's a matter of compatibility, surely the RC E100 can be used with our DHDs, right? I double checked and it can be used on the HTC Magic, which I had prior to the DHD! It uses a standard mini USB A connection. Different to the USB socket of the DHD, but I bet it can be modded.
yes please that would be great is someone can share his experience on any remote controls , been lookinf for some since aquite a while now
This might help: http://www.misco.co.uk/applications...-google-_-dig_cam-_-150731&CAWELAID=304715334
If I can find one cheap enough I'm willing to give it a go, Only 1 on ebay though and its £15.....
I read somewhere that one would need drivers too, as the RC E100 isn't made for the DHD.
Edit: But hey, if you can try it out for everyone that'd be mighty awesome of you.
Edit: Here's the official product page for the RC E100. Note that the DHD is not listed as supported. http://www.htc.com/hk-en/product/accessory/headset_rc-e100.html
Could just be a case of getting the pinout info for the dhd and matching it with a converter to the Hero? Ill have a further look and report back....

The HTC YCA300 is another ExtUSB breakout adaptor the same as the RCE100. Only it doesn't have controls.
http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=171922
The first issue that would need to be overcome is that the adapters are ExtUSB whereas the DHD is MicroUSB.
Even if an adapter could be used to convert Female MiniUSB/ExtUSB to Male MicroUSB then the chances are that it wouldn't work straight off and would require that driver - but again there's no guarantee that it would work with the DHD...

I'm wondering if they thought about the little piece of plastic covering the USB connector, a part from that it seems a pretty nice way to store the phone next to say you bed or on you desk.
Any thoughts?

Even though im a member since 2006, im not allowed to post links yet.
Update: nevermind, fixed
Bought it a couple of days ago.
- Yes, they thought about the USB covering.
- Unfortunately they forgot about the headphone jack. It's not accessible. To make it accessible you have to use a dremel or similar tool to cut away a bit of the rail which helps the phone slip into it's place.
- Two of my batteries sometimes lose contact when in the charger. Most times they charge well.
- The blue power indicator is very bright.
- Due to the phone's angle of 55° when in the stand the stand is best used on a desk when looking down on it from an angle.
Cool. Thanks, i connect my p920 to the stereo via bluetooth anyway, but thanks for the info!

the SDT-190 has no additional battery charger
it's more expensive
was hoping for the other dock to allow the phone wearing a gel case (it doesn't)
Ordering SDT-190 from LG Shop @ 16 Euro
PS. I just hope they will have it in stock.
And it has arrived - directly from LG Poland - took only 1 working day for the order to be processed and delivered by UPS.
Three pics as attached below.
Feels solid, heavy and of excellent build quality.
As you can see, it has two connectors: micro USB and micro HDMI
The phone's ports have those covers, which once you turn them 180 degrees hide into cavities which are located on both sides of connectors (on the dock).
Sliding into ports is easy and comfortable - no extra force or pressure is needed to place the phone into the dock - as well as no extra effort is needed to navigate the ports onto the connectors.
The cut you see on the left hand side is provided for the mini jack port (audio output), so that headphones or external speakers can be plugged in - yes we would prefer the audio port to be at the back at the dock, but this is good enough.
The USB port at the back enables us to charge the phone via USB cable (also works for connecting the phone to a PC as a USB mass storage) or the mains charger.
The docking station is ideal for everyday charging as well as watching movies, or YT
I believe it may also work as a stand when using a Bluetooth keyboard - one that I am waiting to arrive - excellent set up for typing vant numbers of emails and messages while away from our computer/away from home.
Overall I'm happy with the purchase, and I do think I would buy any other dock imitating the genuine original LG accessory.

Did your bluetooth keyboard work and what model did you use?
no it didnt work. only CM7 has L2CAP Bluetooth Protocol open/supported, and that's needed to connect the keyboard properly.
So I've sold it...
will this work?
any way to add bluetooth support?

you need to read the product description to see which OS it supports, or ask the seller.
you can't just turn the L2CAP protocol on just like that.

Look what I found. Evidently the stereoclip doesn't violate any apple patents and actually made it past customs. So at least sprint can sell them before the EVO is released.
http://shop2.sprint.com/NASApp/onli...ID=ESX1086Q_C&topPageNumber=0&subPageNumber=0
I am actually looking forward to this. Been using 3.5 adopter for a Bose system in my car instead of bluetooth. Regular A2DP bluetooth destroys audio quality. The HTC Stereoclip supposedly includes aptx that will prevent that and has higher quality sound over bluetooth.
Might have to do a little review.

Just ordered one. Thanks for the tip. Been waiting for this. Ordered the car dock from At&t two weeks ago. Still hasn't shipped.
Rabble rabble rabble.
Is it worth it to get this over aux cable?
I know this would work with the original EVO, but I'm wondering about the Bluetooth aptx, and if i would still be better off with an aux cable.
My only concern about this stereoclip is: will it be able to stream audio when playing videos on stock or non-stock video players?
I want to recreate what I had in my old car: a pioneer car audio with touch screen, playing video clips
My new car has a good old analog screen (stock can't be changed) with aux, adding the stereoclip + HOX on landscape holder will be superb

If it works the same way the One X normally does with car stereos that support Bluetooth, you can leave Bluetooth on the phone on all the time, it will auto-connect whenever you start your car and you can start playing music without even having to take the phone out of your pocket, much less hassling with plugging in a line cable.
If it works this way, I'd say its definitely worthwhile. But no idea if the adapter works that way or not.
Yeah that would be a nice feature to have but I'm more worried about the audio quality

No way! I've been waiting on mine for a while, just got tracking for my defender case.

Why not just go into a Sprint Corp. store and buy one with out having to wait for shipping?
Do the sprint stores have them?

THey have them- i bought mine at a Sprint store on Monday- the StereoClip works and more importantly SOUNDS amazing!
The stated battery life is what kills this for me. Five hours? I understand that you can't do too much with the size it is, but I commute about 1.5 hours each way, every day. Fishing this thing out of my car to charge every day is too much (call me lazy or whatever, but I don't want to be in a rush, forget to charge it, and suddenly left without music).
Of course, I could buy a car charger and leave it plugged in all the time.
I ordered this Accessories for my Car Setup:
http://www.osomount.com/our-mounts/13-oso-zero-mount.html
http://www.belkin.com/us/F4U037-Belkin/p/P-F4U037
and a Belkin 1.8m ChargeSync Cable
I tell later how good this works.

I'm thinking about getting the Griffin BlueTrip since it's low profile. If there's a friction mount that will work on this phone, I would probably snag one.

Here's what I have. It all works like a charm.
I don't have link posting privileges so Amazon listing titles will have to do.
Mountek nGroove Universal CD Slot Mount (Black)
Belkin F8Z492TTP Bluetooth Music Receiver
Griffin Powerjolt Dual Universal USB Micro Colors May Vary
The mount clamps onto the inside of my CD slot. I think it's better than windshield suction for reliability.
The Bluetooth unit only comes with a wall charger. Luckily it requires 5V for power so I cut off that end and put a USB plug on it. The auxiliary audio cable is included.
I got that power adapter because it sits totally flush with my power port.
My car's auxiliary audio jack and power port are inside the centre console so it's all hidden away. I haven't had to look at it since I first put it in. It pairs perfectly every time.

Overall I'm fairly satisfied. My HU doesn't have bluetooth and I didn't want to pay to get another one. Also, the X2 will continue charging my phone even when I'm running Pandora and Waze at the same time.
Okay fellas. Is there any way to get the awesome blue tooth connectivity junk in a car with a cassette player?
EDIT.: PLEASE IGNORE LOL

Let me know how well that bluetooth receiver sounds with your music. I've been looking for something exactly like this but have read lots of bad reviews of the sound quality using these bluetooth adapters.
I use TuneLink for Android, which is basically a Bluetooth to FM transmitter for cars like mine without a 3.5mm Aux Input. Sound quality is really good and miles apart from other FM transmitters I have used over the years.

Found a better deal for the belkin bluetooth here http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004CLYJ2I?in=4&is=300&qid=1357392847&sr=8-16 I been using it for a month just for music since I have bluetooth in my car for calls. It sounds pretty good and I only paid 36 for it a month ago on Amazon

If you have a nice audio system in your car and are accustomed to Hi-Fi audio in your vehicle (i.e. always opting for higher bit rate MP3, AAC, or even AIFF), there is NO bluetooth setup that you are going to be satisfied with for music.
While I use BT to listen to podcasts on my phone, I still burn CDs or use a direct connection for music. BT is convenient, but not even close to hi quality audio (hell... it isn't even close to a mid rate mp3). Anyone who tells you different either has never heard hi quality audio, or simply does not care about it.

I guess you can throw me in the "does not care about it" pile. lol. I have been using the HTC Stereo clip in my setup for audio and the thing thumps! I don't have hi fi sh!t in the car, just an aftermarket JVC with an aux port for the stereo clip, some aftermarket speakers that fit the stock setup (I have a 4 yr old to lug around in my truck) so space is limited, especially in going shoppping.
I used to feel the same way when I used my itouch years ago with those belkin FM transmitters. Depending where you are if there are saturated radio stations in your city, the FM transmitters will sound really crappy. But once you hit a clear spot, it's ok, but you can hear the static here and there. From that point, I had a tape deck in my car. Used the tape aux setup and plugged that into the itouch and that sounded 100x better.
But after saying that, I migrated back to burning random CD's until about a half year ago. When I got the stereo clip, using poweramp to tweak it's settings on the bt side, and the sound was just as good as a burned CD IMO.
But keep in mind, "I just don't care about it", remember? I somewhat agree that listening to CDs would be the clearest way to go and burning them is the next step to mix what you want, but doing that on the fly in poweramp or similar, is just so much more convenient not to mention less wires to mess with. I mean I remember adding gps onto my Sony Clie N70 pda. God that was like stringing xmas lights lol.
Bottom line, it really depends on how far you want to go in getting the "best" sound for your. Like for me that just don't care, I'm sure many of you will find something suitable. I guess that's the reason for this thread, no?
Why not just put all your music on a USB flash drive and stick it into your car?
solves both your problems.

Well for me, I only have an aux port no usb port on my HU. Not gonna spring on a new HU when the truck has 140k miles on it.
I've gone for the Mountek. Very impressed with the build quality...
