[Q] Is there a Wired Remote for DHD beside the lame one it comes with? - Desire HD Accessories

Apart from the very ordinary wired remote that comes with the DHD, does anyone know if there's another HTC or a third party wired remote that will work with the DHD?
I'm after something with music controls (back and forward, play / pause and of course volume control). Additionally being able to plug your own headphones in is a MUST.
The RC E100 (below) would be PERFECT, but it's not for the DHD (apparently?). Anyone successfully modded this for the DHD?

+1 here. I dont know but by somehow the stock earphones come with the DHD are ********IT! Even worse than some non-branded 2nd earphones out there

I am really interested in a product like this. The oem earphone from the box is a joke.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App

Yes, some more voices!
Surely there are more people who use their DHD to play music and surely they have their own headphones that are far superior in quality to the OEMs that come with the DHD.
I actually use two different pairs of headphones each day. A nice Sennheiser inner-ear ear bud pair, and an over the head "cup" pair by Audia-Technica. I use the ear buds when I'm out and on the go; walking, on the train, etc. I use the over the head pair when I'm sitting at the desk. So obviously the need for using your own 'phones is there.
If it's a matter of compatibility, surely the RC E100 can be used with our DHDs, right? I double checked and it can be used on the HTC Magic, which I had prior to the DHD! It uses a standard mini USB A connection. Different to the USB socket of the DHD, but I bet it can be modded.

yes please that would be great is someone can share his experience on any remote controls , been lookinf for some since aquite a while now

This might help: http://www.misco.co.uk/applications...-google-_-dig_cam-_-150731&CAWELAID=304715334
If I can find one cheap enough I'm willing to give it a go, Only 1 on ebay though and its £15.....

I read somewhere that one would need drivers too, as the RC E100 isn't made for the DHD.
Edit: But hey, if you can try it out for everyone that'd be mighty awesome of you.
Edit: Here's the official product page for the RC E100. Note that the DHD is not listed as supported. http://www.htc.com/hk-en/product/accessory/headset_rc-e100.html

Could just be a case of getting the pinout info for the dhd and matching it with a converter to the Hero? Ill have a further look and report back....
Anyone know where we get the software?

I just found this thread under the HTC Leo category: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=594932
Also, over at HTCpedia, they have a page on the RC E100, and there's a link at the bottom to an adaptor that may work for it? See here: http://htcpedia.com/htc-rc-e100-remote-stereo-headset/reviews/accessories.html And here's the adaptor: http://shop.htcpedia.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=231
Edit: The driver / sfotware can be obtained here: http://www.expansys.com.au/f.aspx?i=150187

I tried soldering a stereo mini-jack on to the supplied headset after cutting off the headphones. Should've worked, but my soldering skills are somewhat useless.

the included earphone is very good, much to my surprice and for £3.34 I think it is a bargain. you press once to pause and play, press twice to fast forward three times to backforward.
I am using CM7 rom and with Poweramp player. I've not check if it works with sense.

Sorry if this is a really stupid question, just it doesn't say on the eBay page that it works for the DHD... So does it work with the DHD?

As I said, I am using it on my DHD with CM7 nightly ROM and it work with PowerAMP. I don't use Sense Rom and its build-in player so I can't say if it will work for certain. I can't see why not but it is for you to find out.
The only down side I can think of is that there is no valume control on this remote.

The HTC YCA300 is another ExtUSB breakout adaptor the same as the RCE100. Only it doesn't have controls.
http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=171922
The first issue that would need to be overcome is that the adapters are ExtUSB whereas the DHD is MicroUSB.
Even if an adapter could be used to convert Female MiniUSB/ExtUSB to Male MicroUSB then the chances are that it wouldn't work straight off and would require that driver - but again there's no guarantee that it would work with the DHD...

that's what i use. basically it's a remote for my phone. If i've got my earphones plugged into the DHD while the bluetooth thing is connected, the sound still goes through the audio jack of the dhd, so it really only acts as a remote for me.

Shame it's not a wired remote, as using Bluetooth is another battery drain the DHD certainly doesn't need.

would this work as an adapter ?

Hi Guys
I found that making one is easier. Just take your headset, open the mic housing with a knife, remove the headphones and solder a 3.5 jackplug in. In the pics here I used a Touch Dual headset...It has a volume control.

Hi Driskol
This one you are looking at will not work. There are of these adaptors availible for the HTC, But the one in the link you sent has a mini usb plug and not the HTC type...However that is exactly the ones I use to convert the standard headsets.
The standard MiniUSB has all its conections on the wide side of the connector, where the HTC connector has all the audio connections on the narrow side. see pic

he he..I´m very familiar with this procedure since I used Motorola phones for years It was the best way how to make own adapter ´cause I tried 4 stock motorola adapters and no of them worked properly so I did it my way
btw: mini usb from motorola doesn´t work on HTC for audio - it works only for data connection
I just received my order from http://cnn.cn/shop/audio-adapter-ext...ap-p-4118.html

[Q] Working headphone adapters

i have the akg k370 whcih dont work with my SGS, since the order of the pins is differend (mic and ground are switched).
since i love that headset im looking for a working adaptor
i couldnt find any in the internet
so far i managed to solder my own from an old adapter which didnt use its microphone pin.
but since it looks...lets say...selfcrafted im looking for one that works that u dont have to cut open and change the pins your self (or add a wire as i did)
if u know of any working ones which use all 4 pins and switch ground and mic pls tell me where i can buy em...
Similar issue here. I have Dr. Dre Beats and from what I've found from reading through is that I need to switch the ground/mic wires? I can do this if necessary and can even get a nice job done of it, but wouldn't this break my headset for other phones/players?
Point being a nice adapter would be sweet.
I bought this one, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290460258359&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Still waiting it gets here.
Surely if the ground connection was different then no standard plugs/phones would work or does the phone dynamically change the ouputs on pins depending on what's plugged in (since it has to support tv out as well)?

got the same ones, they work fine.
those adaptors and the nokia ones work, but they make the cable too long besides considering that the headsets mentioned already has a mic and you add another adaptor mith a mic, its simpler to just have an adaptor that switches the mic and ground terminals around
so what i did is i made this

i took my nokia ad-57 adaptor, cut the wire, cannibalized a female 3.5mm 4pole from some generic adaptor, soldered the wire so that ground from the 3.5male is soldered to the second ring from tip. thus, simply, the female of the adaptor is wired like an iphone compatible, and the male is wired galaxy s compatible.
if you cant be bothered to diy, you can get this http://www.kvconnection.com/product-p/km-354r3m-r2f.htm
but at 18$ plus shipping, i just think it is too expensive, lol

damn, that's expensive. but I guess it'll be worth it to make my "expensive" headphones work, lol.
i found one on DX, comes with MIC so you can asnwer the phone and listen without taking out the headphones
waiting for it to arrive and test to see if it's compatible with SGS
I had to stick black tape around my mic button on the headphones I used to use on my iPhone, I kept the same headphones cause they were amazing sound and pricey and didn't want to chuck them away, Didn't realize it would be a problem lol, I want one of these adapters from a Uk store
Ordered an adapter from KVConnection, works like a charm! I think it's worth the price, considering I didn't have the time/tools/parts to make this by myself.

You can say that the adapter is good, perfect, excellent, nice,ok,etc but not worth at all 17$ for wires is pure stealing
I got a blackberry headset from my local street market. The earphones that came with it sound horrible, and the mic is a bit soft. There is no need to change anything however and the button works.
I'm planning on using it with the aux in of my car radio. With computer speakers it seemed to work (no echo). And it works well with a headphone.

I have Klipsch S2m and it works with my Vibrant so it must work with i9000.
Ow, great. Can you tell your experiens with them. What kind of sound works best for them and build quility?
Honestly, I am a wannabe audiophile. I am just starting to get into the world of audiophile. An audiophile friend of mine suggested it to me cuz it was on sale.
I would say the sound is pretty good. It is a direct sound and definitely not soft or anything. As far as calls go, I have good experience with these so I am pretty happy.
I don't have any problems with these so far so I think they are good.
good to hear cause I am also browsing around looking for a replacement ear/mic headset.
I do really hope this works for our SGS because this model Klipsch S2m is also listed in the apple store as iphone compatible. and to my knowledge iphone heatsets do not work with SGS.
so I'm a little confused ...
It is advertised as iPhone compatible but it does work with my vibrant... idk what is happening...
Actually, my friend said my phone would work before I bought it so...
Nokia AD-54 / HS-45 adaptor’s inline mic works on my international i9000GT, and many others have reported it working on other variants of Galaxy S.
IMO this is the best option right now because it lets you connect your own headphone .

They will work as intended. Pick up/drop a call, pause/play music and mic works as well, a mic really!
Only issue I have come across is with Froyo JP1/JP3/JPC, where if you keep pulling and plugging the earphones in, the buttons will not work as intended, but after you reset the phone it works as normal.
JPK seems to be working fine and Eclair on the other hand works perfectly fine!
Also there is only one button on this earphone.

Sennheiser has the MM series. Most of iPhone capable MMs are compatible with android 3,5 mm audio/mic jack

I've tried various headsets from Nokia and Samsung, but the microphones don't even work with the Desire or DHD, let alone the play/pause/skip buttons. Not a fan of the in ear headsets myself, but would be interested in a slightly longer set than the ones that come with these handsets.

I already have a Nokia BH-500, but can't be bothered with extra cables, recharging, switching on and off etc.
Get new car in 2 weeks with built-in bluetooth so won't be as big an issue, but would still like a 'manual' solution just in case.

what about the ZAGGsmartbuds? they look good for a decent price, but one can wonder how they sound...

So, at this point, no one has tested the DHD with some good headset that supports music and call controls?!?

Same here with some Bose earbuds slapped on to them, only problem is the volume isn't that great plus I use the A2DP Volume app and that doesn't do much in the way of boosting the volume.
If the MM70i's work then I'll get them until someone can confirm it I'll stick with the jabra.

The Etymotic HF2 are supposed to be very good.. but have you tested them with Desire HD? Does the call button, track skip etc. work properly? Be great if you could confirm as I'm thinking of taking the plunge on those for my new DHD...!

In-line music control headphones for Desire

Hi all,
I am thinking of buying a HTC Desire. I currently use an Xperia x8 and they have inline headphones which are pretty good but require a special port

Does such a think exist for the desire? Will it require a different music application? I use the Xperia x8 while cycling so having big music controls is very handy!
Thanks

Iv not seen anything that could let you use that type of earphone sorry...
I have tried two different earphones that have inline controls and found that the play/hold to skip etc button will work but the others such as volume wont. So not sure if skip buttons would work anyway, just to let you know.
The hardware case wouldn't match the stick, I'm afraid, so i won't think it will ever work.
I have a headset that came with my desire that has music controls similar to the one posted above. I'll try attaching a pic of it now. Its an official HTC product.
EDIT: Pictures attached
I too am looking for in-ear headphones with controller.

HTC provides us by the good headphones, i have this one
Lookin for an In-ear headset with remote for my Desire S
Sure we got a headset from HTC which came with the phone, and while the remote controller on the headset is great, the earphones themself are unconfortable and their sound quality is just not well enough.
Thats why im hunting on the internet for some propper headset with a remote, which can controll the music player on my Desire S.
Sadly, I didn't find it so far...
I'd really appreciate if someone could suggest me a Brand, who makes compatible In-Ear style earphones for HTC phones.
think this will give you what you want
Have been using these with a set of senheiser headphones, Works great.

you can buy the apple in ear phones if you dont mind wearing this trendy piece of sh**! I dont think it'll work with the stock player, but works with powerAMP and PlayerPro. I use the 'stock-apple-headphones' with the controll (with playerPRO) and I dont see why it shouldnt work with the in ear phones.
Im not allowed to post external links, just google for 'apple in ear headphones'

If you want to get a little creative with a pair of in ear buds. Going to try this this week.
Try some skullcandies. They are excellent sound quality, warranty is awesome (mechanical failure- free replacement, you break them- 50% off next skullcandies)
Some variants of the in ear headphones have in line controls, but they are about the size of the iPod ones, not sure if that's big enough for you...
Or, if you want to risk it... Try splicing the cable =)
I'm not sure if you've sorted this problem, but I just tried looking for the same thing.. HTC here sells in-ear headphones with limited controls (it plays/pauses and double clicks for next, but it is supposed to triple click to reverse.. as if) anyway, they aren't that good, but they do work with HTC gear..
BUT - today I went to a Sony Ericsson store and they had bluetooth headphones with FULL controls.. large like the ones you posted and they worked perfectly on my Desire.. they were expensive though... and I've never road tested them, but in the store, they were amazing.
if you google Sony Ericsson Bluetooth headphones, they come up right away.. there are a couple different models and you can switch the buds as well, which I hadn't realised.. (I never thought to check, but the SE ones sounded good anyway)
Well your headphone has a 3.5mm port but they appear to have an extra part that fits into something. It's hard to explain... erm in the pic to the bottom left so I wouldn't be too sure if they'd work or not. HTC give you free headphones with their phones but frankly They're not very well shaped for inside the ear as they're a complete round shape and are uncomfortable and awkward. I want to find better ones with all the music controls...
I use a pair of these:
klipsch. com/ na-en/ products/ image-s4i-overview
They're designed for the iPhone but they give pretty awesome quality and can be had pretty cheap now they're a bit older.
Pretty much any third party music player app can manipulate the middle button and you can answer calls/use the mic with them too.
I use PowerAmp and a single click on the middle button plays/pauses music, double click goes to the next track and triple click the previous. Unfortunately the volume up/down buttons don't work, but doesn't bother me as I can press the side volume keys on the phone through my jeans

Has anyone tried a set of headphones designed for the iPhone? I am partial to Sennheiser headphones myself and they do a set for that phone that has some similar controls.
Otherwise I will just hack a solution out of the set of headphones supplied with my soon to be purchased Desire S and my current pair of Sennheiser in ears. I am also tempted to make a setup for my HD 465 over the head headphones.

I got last summer zagg smartbuds and since then I have no problem at all.
I use PlayerPro.
The good thing about smartbuds over the other ones is that they have their own volume control (a sliding button) so 1 click for pause, 2 clicks for next, and 3 for previous and also volume control without touching the phone.
