[APP] Updated GAPPS with Google Talk Video (2.3+) - EVO 4G Android Development

FULLY WORKING VOICE/VIDEO CHAT! Two-Way Video and Incoming Calls for 2.3+
5/4/2011
UPDATE!
lithid-cm has incorporated the updated GoogleServicesFramework.apk I FOUND into his Flashable GAPPS Update here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?92475r3frlncg29
Just Flash, Wipe Dalvik and Cache, and you are set!
Thanks everyone, for jumping in, flashing, and figuring it out with me! I'm sure this will be incorporated into all 2.3+ roms very, very soon.
(Anyone tried this on 2.2? Its a long shot, but might make some progress if I had testers)
All ROMS:
- Switching to the back camera causes a FC. This is probably hardware/lib oriented, so I am not going to chase after this one. If anyone has ideas for how to fix it, I'd be glad to give it a try.
Working:
CM7 2.3.3 (7.0, Nightly 57 and 62 Confirmed)
Decks 1.0
MIUI 1.4.22
Ginger-Alev1 (SENSE)
Other ASOP ROMS should work too...
Working w/ Some Issues:
- Some Sense-based ROMs (Fresh, Caulkin, etc) have an issue where the camera will not rotate with the gyro, and Gmail users will see you sideways. Again, no idea what causes this, but open to suggestions.
Not Working:
[KERNEL] Tiamat 4.0.0
ARCHIVE:
5/3/2011
UPDATE!
I just Wiped completely, installed CM7 (nightly 57) and got it working again from scratch.
The simplified version:
1) Flash 2.3.4-GAPPS from here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?p05q54839gjzt
2) Push GoogleServicesFramework.apk to /system/app and set permissions to RWX (Link on the OP)
3) Reboot Recovery, Clear Cache and Dalvik
4) In Android, Manage Applications, Wipe data for GoogleServicesFramework and Google Talk
5) Make a test call, and let me know how it goes.
Worked FLAWLESSLY for me on CM7 2.3.3 (57)
If I get more responses, Ill start a more detailed thread (with Flashable ZIPs and whatnot) so that more people can get access to this.
5/1/2011
UPDATE:
I am running option #1 below with a few modifications:
I took a stock 2.3.4 ROM from the NEXUS S forum (where they have gTalk working courtesy of google) and unpacked
I pushed the following to /system/app with standard app permissions:
CameraGoogle.apk
GoogleServicesFramework.apk
googlevoice.apk
(all attached)
Reboot to recovery, wipe dalvik and cache, and POW
Working Video Chat!
I don't know which APK fixed it, but i know they were patched in the 2.3.4 update... and it is working...
I don't have time to look into it right now... but feel free to give it a try on other ROMS and let me know how it goes.
Resolved Issues:
1. Incoming calls are received!
2. Outgoing Calls connect, and Video is Transmitted!
Known Issues:
1. Switching to rear camera STILL FC's (prob a camera driver, not software)
4/30/2011
Google Talk Video/Voice Chat Finally working...
UPDATE: There are now quite a few methods for installing Google Talk 1.3 (with video chat):
1. Flash the 2.3.4 Stock Gingerbread Port by lithid-cm (which I find to be the most reliable... and Stable!) and the latest GAPPS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056101
3. Flash the latest GAPPS from the above post onto any Gingerbread based system (2.3+) which still FC's for me sometimes
2. Install the APK and modify permissions manually (I have had limited luck with this method... FC's sometimes)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13402925#post13402925
3. Flash the GTALK.zip package from this post. I have not tried it but some people have had results
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13330426&postcount=20
If anyone figures anything else out, please let me know.

Voice is definitely working if I do a voice call, but on a video call it seems to only be one way...

Since it was intended for the Nexus S... it is likely you need an ASOP ROM for this to work.

whats funny is google pulled google talk from the market.....

It doesn't work though. on my CM7 it crashes when you try to make a voice call.

I'm on latest CM release (7.0.2) and it FC's for me. I tried to wipe cache and dalvik and clear data for Talk but still FC.

^^ sorry about that... i was editing my post as you quoted me

Let me know if it continues to work... mine broke for some reason and FC's now. When I make voice calls... it will connect and work AS the FC window comes up, and continues to work until i click FC.
I didnt reboot or anything... just stopped working. Tried reflashing and clearing cache... no luck
lame.

CM 7.0.2.1 FC on my end. I can see the Cam icon but as soon as I tap on it, it FCs

I'm running a asop rom, going to flash now and see
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G Android 2.3.3 using Tapatalk Premium

CM 7.0.2.1 here. Flashed update. Wiped Dalvik. Cleared Talk app data. FCs when I tap a video cam icon. The libTalk_jni.so file you mention isn't in the .zip nor did it get installed on my device in /system/lib.

[SOLVED] [Q] Cyanogenmod 7 Magpie for g1/Dream

Hi
I just installed Cyanogenmod 7 Magpie for g1/Dream.
But gapps are not here, and I tried a few version and it doesn't work.
Can someone point me to the right version of gapps?
thanks
What do you need specifically?
If you need GMail, GTalk, GMap, you can download that from the market. That is what I did.
I've had the same problem, just install magpie then install google apps. restart. then you will see you don't have them so you restart again and you should at least see books in your list.
Well, this is what I did
EzGb Gapps are working with cm7 magpie. Install the latest one (top of the last quote)

ok thanks I got the file and flashed it...then I can log in to my google account and download the gapps...but it just stopped in the middle of the downloading process, I see the desktop, empty, and can do nothing .
Is there a different .zip for EB1 (french Dream)?
There are two .zip for installing CM 7 Magpie in french, should I install the one whose name contains "obex"...I don't know what is obex?
thanks
It's odex, not obex, but no, you don't need that. You need the latest version of the rom: update-cm-7-20110727-Magpie-DS-signed.zip plus gapps from terry's thread, don't worry it contains french.
I assume that you assume FR means french but no, it means Firerat, so you installed a very old version of the rom.
Btw about the market install/download fails
Buuggggss
I expect there are more than listed here
Sometimes a market install fails complaing about space
usually a second attempt works
the pm command can start a soft reboot if the file argument you give it doesn't exist
It was broken before I started messing with it, I should fix it but keep forgetting

Yes indeed I assumed FR meant French!
Ok but when I tried to install the the more recent .zip, I had the android.phone app crashing constantly, making the phone unusable.
edit: I reflashed the rom, and the gapps at the same time, it seems to work fine now.
thanks to you all
Wipe properly, from fastboot! If you use ext, than format it. Everything should be okay.
I'm running it right now, since it's released. I didn't have a single problem with it, it's a lil slow compared to fbl, but it's working ok.
I didn't know it was better to wipe from fastboot.
I wiped from recovery, I flashed the rom and gapps immediately. Then I booted to rom, and it is ok.
Cyanogenmod 7 magpie seems to work fine, but, indeed, a little slower than froyobylaszlo. How froyobylaszlo was getting unusable for me because of the "damaged sd card" error, and made me loose a lot of data (and was not in french).
Thanks to you all for your help.

Pointer remover!
This update removes pointer but do not worry the D-Pad will work as in Android 2.3.7!
Update Not working so you need to put those files in /system folder by yourself!
Pointer will be fixed in next update!
Can't impossible get Gapps to work. Have tried evrything (I think)!
Have tried a couple other Gapps then latest one given in this thread.
Have tried installing CM9 and Gapps a couple of times, with reboot and cleaning cache etc in diffrent orders... without luck.
Latest I tried clearing cache, data, dalvik, etc.
Installed CM9.
Installed Gapps (given above in thread)
Reboot.
Evrything seems to work, but no icons/apps appear... >_<

thanks, its work for me!!
when i want install new release recovery show me that installation aborted
Now I've done some more testing... and done the installation over and over a couple of times
Theese are my conclusions:
* Installation of Gapps is partially working!
From one installation to another, diffrent apps and function is installed (or working) on the phone.
Theese functions I've found (so far) that vary from time to time:
* Gmail
* Market
* Screen lock
* Installation guide program when new user/clean installation
tested
After a while I managed to set up it to work good
1.wipe data factory reset, dalvik cache...everything
2.flash rom
3.wait for the phone to start
4.wipe again,start the phone
5.flash gpapps
Instead of stock gallery use quick pick.
Little bit slow when entering menu (probably becouse of stock zoom effect).
market working, camera working, synced account without problems
Great job!
I installed CyanogenMod 9.0.0 Nightly 2012.06.18
My phone just flies.
Battery lasts a long time
RAM size 140 MB (it is very good)
Less:
*1.The graphics system sometimes produces errors
*2.File Manager does not play music
Otherwise, I like ...

[CM7][i9001][PORT][LEWA][MULTI-LANG]

I have ported LeWa based on CM7 fixed 2.1 and ported from LG GT540 Optimus, which results in a stable working rom.
My first public release was version 0.4, which was published in the other (AOSP) LeWa thread. Now I have created my own thread to release version 0.6, which is also based on CM7 fixed 2.1 but contains multi-language!
Known errors:
- CM7 bugs
- Default lockscreen appears very tiny (use thememanager to select a different lockscreen if this bothers you)
Troubleshooting:
- In case of no 3g data, make sure the APN settings are correct
- GPS: make sure you turn on 'internal gps' in settings
- Use fasterfix to select the right pool
- Use setdns to set dns ;-)
- In case first boot doesn't continue after bootanimation, hold the power button until the device reboots again, now it will boot.
Installation:
- Use CWM recovery
- Wipe data/Factory reset
- Wipe Cache
- Wipe Dalvik
- Install using CWM recovery
- Install Gapps trough CWM

These are the specified questions I would like to ask you.
1. The pixel of rear camera is limited to 3 Million and I couldn't use 8 M.
I searched the same problem and found a solution which makes me to find camera app from google play; but there was no such an app to fix this.
2. None of the internet phone was working (skype, viber, tango, and google voice)
Skype only supports voice communication, not video.

[Q] [SOLVED] com.google.process.gapps stopped working

System Specs:
TF101
Android Version: 4.1.1 (now 4.1.2)
Kernel Version: 2.6.39.4 CyanogenMod RaymanFX DHD (now 2.6.39.4ASUS [email protected] #1 Sat Oct 13 19:34:10 CEST 2012)
CyanogenMod Version 10-20120916-UNOFFICIAL-tf101 (now 10-20121013-UNOFFICIAL-tf101)
Problem
com.google.process.gapps stops working
What I have done so far:
Cleared cache
Cleared davlik cache
Removed Gmail account and re-added
Disabled ALL sync options
What I did to get here:
Installed TWRP (replaced Clockwork Recovery)
Installed CM10
Installed GooManager (for gapps)
Restored ALL apps I had/wanted back from the Play store
This problem occured immediately after I finished installing all apps. I dont know what one app might have caused this. I am trying to avoid a factory reset, but it seems this may not be avoidable at this current step. My question is, what else is there I can do short of a factory reset?
EDIT 1: just found out the GAPPS i am using is for 4.1.2. Would this cause the issue since i am on Android 4.1.1?
EDIT 2: Re-flashed the GAPPS from GooManager and it seems to be working better. I will update after testing it throughout my 24 hour duty.
EDIT 3: I let it go to "sleep" and when i woke it up, the process failed again.
EDIT 4: Used another version of GAPPS for Tegra. Now trebuchet crashes after going to sleep. Seems the GAPPS is the cause of the problem. Is there a stable version for my device and CM10? The latest crashes the com.process.google.gapps and the later crashes trebuchet
.
EDIT 5: After a night of troubleshooting, I found out i was using version B3 instead of V6 of CM10. Thus the Android version of 4.1.1 instead of 4.1.2. I just flashed V6 to my tablet and now I am testing the device for compatibility with the first version of GAPPS that i had installed earlier. I will post results after my tests.
EDIT 6: So far so good, everything seems to be running normally. I have not had any problems for the last five hours. I hope this fixed my problem
EDIT 7: So after waking up to my tablet sleeping, i woke it and the process failed again. Is there a compadible GAPPS zip out there somewhere?
EDIT 8: Ok, so I decided to do a factory wipe, install CM10 V6 fresh. Then install google apps filename "gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip" Seems that the google apps keeps failing. I even unchecked all the sync options and didn't put my account in until after i installed the google apps. At this time there are NO apps installed other than the default CM and GAPPS. I am officially stumped. HELP PLEASE!
EDIT 9: I did a factory wipe, no re-install of CM10 or GAPPS, just a standard wipe followed by clearing both caches. Upon reboot it wanted my credentials for google. Seems to be working ok, meaning it GAPPS is not crashing at this current moment. However, it has dropped WiFi on me while it went to sleep and came back. I told it to not turn WiFi off when it sleeps, but alas, it seems to be broken. Also, it lockes up randomly, and the only way to recover is to hold the power button to turn it off and then reboot. Thoughts?
EDIT 10: Changed to the nightlys from CM and updated to the most recent GAPPS. Everything is working great. Minus some of the things that have already been mentioned. My lock screen disappears ever so often. Also, I have noticed that when not charging, the tablet will shut down at 49% when sleeping. I don't know if that is a feature of the CM10, but it is annoying. I have yet to have any random lock ups, but some of my apps won't work anymore. I have noticed that some apps will work one moment, the next it will have a video failure, but the sound will continue and the process will continue. Just the video display will be stuck on one image. For example, Jetpack Joyride does this. Also, Song Pop Free will not work, among some other apps. So, I guess I have to wait for a Jelly Bean update for some of these apps.
I've had a similar issue with gapps, usual provoked by accessing gmail or maps however I did have the same issue with the stock rom.
Sent from my Transformer using Tapatalk HD
I appreciate the info, was this with ICS or Jelly Bean? I am assuming with your stock you mean ICS. Am I missing something about GAPPS? Is there a better compatible build for this?
