How to fix audio problems? - HTC Inspire 4G

For stock rom?
Awesome phone but the audio is murder!

If you could be less vague, we might be able to better help you.

don't cause audio problems ?

im wondering if there is a way to make the volume louder overall on a stock rom? It pretty much sucks compaired to previous phones I have owned. Ringtone volume is way too low, even at full blast.

Root and flash a rom w/custom kernel that has an audio boost.

Attaching a megaphone to the speaker on the back works as well.

Mainly the tinny audio and maybe a bit louder

The stock unrooted Rom shouldn't have tinny audio.

Possibly, my stock inspire was quiet, but the sound was crystal clear.
Others may disagree though.

no, its common knowledge the inspire (and most HTC phones) have low poor audio. you have to install a ROM with the audio boost kernel to fix it. nothing you can do on stock ROM.
these guys were just bustin your ball pouch.

This is where I miss my iPhone 4 the audio on the inspire sucks It doesn't even sound good when connected to the aux in my truck. And I have to root the phone to fix and HTC knows this thing sucks and will not fix it wow. My last Android device at this time it just seems you have to hack these phones to make simple things perform up to par

Speaker Volume????

Has anyone or is there anything we can do to help boost this poor speaker volume on the inspire...is there some kind of speaker booster that works...thanks in advanced...
I would like to know as well. I can barely hear my phone ringing.

I fixed mine by exchanging for an Atrix. The sound quality and levels are very, very good.
Lol ok me too but rather not get the Atrix just for sound. I Like this phone too much and everything is working great but the sound level. Would like to keep it virgin for awhile and not root or flash yet. but of course thats not too far away.
ha ha I see what you mean. I really loved the Inspire, but the few things that bothered me about it in everyday use seem to be rectified by the Atrix. Besides, I won an Inspire at work so I'll have both

This doesn't really help. Considering I prefer the Inspire to the Atrix. I'm not a huge fan of Motorola.
I am pretty sure it is a software issue though. Games are fairly loud when I play them, and it just seem seems like alerts and ringtones are lacking.

You could always make copies of the ringtones, run them thru a MP3 editing software to boost the Db level of the source file, then put them back to the phone.

So I'll need root, and just have to wait until they update the dsp app on market?

I won't be returning mine. Battery, sound and speed are too good.

Run Gingerbread? Need a louder speaker? Use this application.

Volume+ Sound Boost for Gingerbread
Download: Here
Credits: MeltusI've tested it and it's increased the speaker volume drastically without reducing sound quality. It's great for streaming music, radio, live scanner feeds and stuff. It makes the loudspeaker LOUD. Works on my custom ROM (See it in my signature).
Thank you so much!!!!!

Thanks! Will give it a shot.
Warning! Don't have it set at insane or 8 at all time you will blow your speakers

Thanks, I just thought it was the phone, had no idea it was the ROM I was running lol. This app works great, using it at one notch below Insane, and it sounds much better now
Thanks. Works great

I'm using it on cm7 so yes

awesome, thanks.
Yeah, I haven't tested it on Insane, and probably won't. It's plenty loud enough as is now lol
I tried it on insane it will work loud but if you keep it on insane you will blow your speakers

BETA Version (1.61 whatever)
Speaker Phone:
Speaker Modifications: ON
EQ Settings: GOOD QUALITY
Volume Level: FIVE OR SIX
Bass Enhance: OFF
i ran it on cm7 made NO difference at all ... not a tinny bit :S
Works on CM7 here, stock kernel.
Just a question for you guys: have you come across a volume/equalizer app that works on a speakerphone call? I've gotten Volume+ and DSP Manager to work on everything except for when the phone is in speakerphone mode. I was hoping to reduce the "tinnyness" of callers with a treble reduction and midrange boost.
Can something similar be done with the headphone jack? I use it often to connect to my car stereo and even at max volume it's not very loud.
Well it seems to have solved MY problem, which was low volume on the ringtones - I was missing calls, with the phone in my pocket - beyond that, I didn't fiddle around with the settings.
Thanks much!
-Mike
should we restart after applying settings? i rely find no difference at all . som1 can explain me why?

The audio bug with 2.3.4/5?

I think I may know a possible fix for it. And the fix being in capy's sense 3.5 ROM. Notice how all other 3.5's have tinny audio but capy's doesn't. Find what makes his work and we might have a fix.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Tinny as in what's recorded or what is heard through either speaker?
If it's what's recorded, I'd LOVE to know how to fix it. Btw, I'm on N179 of cm7.

I will vouch for the lack of tinny speaker on RCMix bliss. No issues whatsoever. I'll look into it tomorrow if no one figures it out beforehand.

Yeah is as terror said. Is tinny output for any sound on the newer sense roms. Like I said, its right in front of us.

HTC Sensation Sound Quality?

Hey all, I'm new to XDA and just picked up a HTC sensation. I noticed the sound quality, coming from an iphone to Sensation, is not even close. Any sugguestions (apps/tweaks) since this model does not come with beats audio already on it? (FYI I have not rooted/unlockd the phone) Thanks in advance.
Root it. Then you can put on a rom that has beats already installed. All it is is software
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
like the above post says. First root your phone then install any custom rom that has beats audio in it.
root your device.. Then you can install new mods (softwares) which can increase the sound of your speakers or like the above stated.. Use a beats enabled ROM.. The thing about iphone is (after using iphones for past 3 years) its not as customizable as the android phone. And i feel, amongst the android phone.. HTC device has the most quality and best community interms of development.
You can try what you like but nothing I've done (beats/volume+/etc.) has made any real difference and compared to the iphone the sound output is a complete joke (my friends and family with iphones have literally started laughing out the output.)

It actually is embarrassing trying to play a song I like for my girlfriend on this phone and it royally fails. I then sheepishly ask to use her 4S which just abuses this phone. And good luck talking on the phone with the windows down. You won't hear a damn thing.
Literally my only complaint about this phone. Wish they would have put a better speaker in this bad boy.

Does rooting really enhances the audio quality? How drastic is the change?

sensation has a terrible loudspeaker
nothing you can really do about it to be honest. equalizers wont help much since its more of a hardware issue (they used a ****ty speaker)
headphone quality is amazing though
Using srs made my sensation sound better than a 3gs

Install Poweramp, its a powerful music player with equalizer controls. It beats having Beats.
root it
Root your device and install Viper-S Rom
It has beats-audio and you will love iT

Sound quality in sensation is hardware issue more than software (although the stock player isn’t good too, as crosstalk problem is really serious). Not only the speaker mentioned above, chip used, amp circuit used are not quite well in sensation. Having beats audio won’t help much too as it is only a (software) equalizer boosting the bass and treble, if you able to try EQ with variable cf and Q, or 1/2Oct EQ, boosting first 3 and last 3(for 1/2 Oct) with 4dB, you'll get what HTC called "beats audio". Qualcomm CPU is also a problem affecting sound quality as it forced resampling the sound signal from 44.1kHz (usually used by CDs and Android will also force resampling to this) to 48kHz(used by video format), which increase the total harmonic distortion.
Few things you can try to improve sound quality of sensation, install music player (Poweramp, PlayerPro, Neutron, Rockbox, etc.), using a better headphone (better with active noise cancellation as mobile phones usually have serious distortion due to wireless signal, monitor, mobile signal, etc.). Equalizers won’t help sound quality but coloring it.

Its not rooting that enhances the sound its the mods you can apply afterwards that will.

We got our Sensation 4Gs with OS 2.3.4 and the audio in/out sucked. The OTA ICS 4.0.3 update addressed a lot of those issues. It doesn't fix the hardware but the speakers sound a little louder and definitely clearer, as does the audio in newer video recordings. Recordings played back from before the ICS update still exhibit "audio crappiness".
root your sensation first

Media volume is a pile of horse ****.

So I just realized tha even though this phone has been advertising its "amazing" sound system with the beats logo and such, the media output throught speakers is too damn quiet. Nokia phones go louder. So I was looking for a way to increase the out put with a mod or app. I tried volume+ already and no good. My phone is rooted and I am a noob to this stuff so explain it like you are explaining it to a dumbass...thanks in advance

The speaker is crap yes, but the quality if output on the HTC One S is higher than most phones, when using the headphone jack.
+1 . i used volume+ on my hov with no problem but it dont work on hos. The volume levels are awful, even my mates galaxy ace blows it away on volume . surely there must be a way to boost the max levels for ringtones etc??
Sent from my One S using XDA
Yeah it really is awful. Do you know of any mods that push the speaker to the max?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
What I have done is bump my ringtone's volume on the pc (with audacity). Not really a solution, but...
You've got to bump and try on the phone to see the limit over which it gets distorted.
