So I just realized tha even though this phone has been advertising its "amazing" sound system with the beats logo and such, the media output throught speakers is too damn quiet. Nokia phones go louder. So I was looking for a way to increase the out put with a mod or app. I tried volume+ already and no good. My phone is rooted and I am a noob to this stuff so explain it like you are explaining it to a dumbass...thanks in advance

The speaker is crap yes, but the quality if output on the HTC One S is higher than most phones, when using the headphone jack.
+1 . i used volume+ on my hov with no problem but it dont work on hos. The volume levels are awful, even my mates galaxy ace blows it away on volume . surely there must be a way to boost the max levels for ringtones etc??
Sent from my One S using XDA
Yeah it really is awful. Do you know of any mods that push the speaker to the max?

What I have done is bump my ringtone's volume on the pc (with audacity). Not really a solution, but...
You've got to bump and try on the phone to see the limit over which it gets distorted.

On JB, the speaker sucks
ICS was by far the best

I'm finding myself slightly disappointed in the earphone volume. My g2x seemed to be better in this department. My remedy to use the equalizer app doesn't seem to work either..at least not to boost the volume.
I believe that app doesn't work because HTC has some type of sound leveling going on, because when I reset the equalizer app back to normal levels, the.volume lowers, them it raises again by itself.
I need to find a way to disable whatever they have going on...

Are you referring to the volume during a phone call or while playing music?
Have you tried the "Settings > Call > Hearing aids (HAC)" setting yet?
It dramatically boosts the in-call volume through the phone's ear speaker... I'm not sure of it also works with ear phones though.

Did you try using the SRS enhancement?

Thanks for the tip! I'm trying it now.
I'm not hard of hearing (I don't think ) but to me, the standard volume is a bit too low on the Sensation...

yes sensation got lower sound than other htc phone i compared personally with desire and incredible s ...and the hell qhd screen has lots off issues with game and apps...still not all apps working with sensations...and gave back my sensation to the shop today...htc got mad...making phones but still lots of problems and lacking .... they could make sensation with 1ghz and 1gb ram rom....and evo 3d with 8 mp camera..they are really clever somehow...i would say incredible s is better than upcoming some phone...even 1.2 ghz felt slower than single core phones ...huh...sucks somehow
that's tipical for HTC, never get finish any phones, every phone get some probleme....
What is typical on the most recent HTC phones (sensation, g2, nexus one) is a weak max volume. I want it to be like the iPhone...where the max volume is TOO loud and makes one want to turn it down. That way, you have choice. It seems that HTC decides the max volume level that is much lower than others..
And the link to that app u gave me doesn't work..

I wont to thold that every phone HTC have the problem, not juste the volume, but data conexion also sucks and if you go around this section you will see the other people have at last one problem witch Sensation... I am not the bad atention, just tell the truth.

I listen to music using poweramp. You can tweak the eq settings, I have a decent set of in ear headphones and I can honestly say that the sound quality is fantastic and very loud. Much better sound quality than my ipod!

If I have one gripe with the sensation it is definately the volume on the speaker and the speaker phone. Phone calls are low. And music volume on the speaker us depressing. Other wise plugging in through headphones or the aux in my car the sound quality is great. Hopefully they can fix some of these issues with a ota. If not I'm sure the developer community will......

Yeah, the loudspeaker is pretty low. You'd think that they'd would put a good one in seeing they are touting the Sensation as a multimedia powerhouse.
yes, sound level is low, bass is terrible
I can confirm that the sound is much worst than with DHD or HD2 (I have all 3)
sound level is much lower, bass is terrible, also with SRS (I use Sennheiser IE8i, a bass powerhouse) the difference with DHD is HUGE
Note that PoverAMP still doesn't support SRS for Sensation so one comment from the "Nokia guy" doesn't count.
Anybody knows why?
Driver or Audio hardware?
Hello everyone, I am starting this thread to find if there are any Devs who can figure out on what is really wrong on the Sensation's speaker volume.
My experience during my HD2 days, I flashed different android roms with some low volume and some have high or loud volume. I think it had to do with the Rom. Is there any ways for the Devs who will make or currently making custom roms to take a look on this? Maybe there is an adjustment in the rom itself where you can override or adjust the overall volume of the speaker. Just a thought, thank you all more power.

Gave ya a thanks for asking this one in the hopes that a dev takes notice.
The external speaker volume ( or lack thereof ) is the only thing that chaps my ass about the Sensation.
You should try using Volume+ it solved my speaker problem

Using it now with the settings suggested in one of the posts around here, it's still pathetic ( almost as pathetic as my old ass ears ).
voodoo sound and video is what the sensation needs combine that with OC/UV it will be insane
Great question, imho. Still have my HD2 (soon upgrading to Sens.), and I'm well aware of the volume level being all over the place with different roms. It seemed as if they weren't even aware, although with all the complaints I don't understand how.
Volume+ is a band-aid workaround, while the issue should just be fixed altogether. I doubt it's a hardware issue.
Volume+ does works
Did you try Equaliser or DSP Manager?
Boosting treble can increase the volume output

midrange is most of the good volume. I think we have plenty of treble already. I boost +15 with a slight mid hump and it sounds great!
I got to play with an evo this past weekend and the volume on that phone is incredible. I'm hoping to get nearly the same levels from my sensation. Tried the market fixes with no real improvement. Thanks for bringing this issue up. The previous answers to the problem were either the market app fixes or wait till s-off. Now we have it....subscribed.

Volume+ and equalizer works, but it would be nice to have a volume hack like the Inspire built into the roms.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
I agree with you all about the App market volume or any other, but would like a built in the Rom itself, permanent.

Same here.
Even tried to play with the echosettings and stuff, but nothing happened.
Alas Volume+ is not compatible with all custom roms, Equaliser and DSP are...from my experience on DHD.
On N1 volume boost was included in Kernels
If the Sensation has the same speaker as N1 and DHD don't expect miracles, the trick is too boost treble to the maximum, it will make ringtones loud but it will kill the quality too.
The only 2 things that are refraining me to swap my sgs2 to Sensation are the speaker and death grip
just was watching a movie and it was so low can anyone do a volume hack for speaker output it gotta be a way via build prop or xml i just dont know where to look
Have you try Volume+, and I found this in the general forum: menu> settings> call> check the "hearing aids" box.
Volume+ works great, been using it since launch. Huge improvement for all audio outputs, and a kick ass equalizer

Just to throw my 2 cents in, Volume+ has little to no difference... I'm still searching for something similar to GalaxyS VooDoo Sound Hack... in a lot of cases volume+ can actually lower the volume, but maxing everything out gives you a lil bit of an improvement but not much.

It seems that Digital output gain controls not only affects volume on headphones but also in-call speaker volume. I need to have very low digital gain for headphones (for good quality) but then in-call volume on speaker is very low. Is there any way to set digital gains for speaker and headphones separately?

Hey people,
I'm coming from an HTC phone with beats audio. I enjoyed the volume boosting properties of Beats and am wondering if something like this yet exists for the Nexus 5. Audio through headphones is too low for me. Thanks

There is a faux kernel modification but I have yet to hear that this boosts headphone output as well. I hope so because it is the only major quip I have with the phone
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I noticed the low headphone volume also. I hope Google ups it a bit in an update when they fix the speaker.
Yeah, it's definitely something that has been bothering me. The headphones that I have, because they allow in ambient noise, are not well suited for a phone with such low volume range. I really hope we can get an EQ flash soon. Something ala beats would be great.
