Speaker Volume???? - HTC Inspire 4G

Has anyone or is there anything we can do to help boost this poor speaker volume on the inspire...is there some kind of speaker booster that works...thanks in advanced...

I would like to know as well. I can barely hear my phone ringing.

I fixed mine by exchanging for an Atrix. The sound quality and levels are very, very good.

Lol ok me too but rather not get the Atrix just for sound. I Like this phone too much and everything is working great but the sound level. Would like to keep it virgin for awhile and not root or flash yet. but of course thats not too far away.

ha ha I see what you mean. I really loved the Inspire, but the few things that bothered me about it in everyday use seem to be rectified by the Atrix. Besides, I won an Inspire at work so I'll have both

This doesn't really help. Considering I prefer the Inspire to the Atrix. I'm not a huge fan of Motorola.
I am pretty sure it is a software issue though. Games are fairly loud when I play them, and it just seem seems like alerts and ringtones are lacking.

You could always make copies of the ringtones, run them thru a MP3 editing software to boost the Db level of the source file, then put them back to the phone.

So I'll need root, and just have to wait until they update the dsp app on market?

How to fix audio problems?

For stock rom?
Awesome phone but the audio is murder!
If you could be less vague, we might be able to better help you.
don't cause audio problems ?
im wondering if there is a way to make the volume louder overall on a stock rom? It pretty much sucks compaired to previous phones I have owned. Ringtone volume is way too low, even at full blast.
Root and flash a rom w/custom kernel that has an audio boost.

Attaching a megaphone to the speaker on the back works as well.
Mainly the tinny audio and maybe a bit louder

The stock unrooted Rom shouldn't have tinny audio.

Possibly, my stock inspire was quiet, but the sound was crystal clear.
Others may disagree though.

no, its common knowledge the inspire (and most HTC phones) have low poor audio. you have to install a ROM with the audio boost kernel to fix it. nothing you can do on stock ROM.
these guys were just bustin your ball pouch.
This is where I miss my iPhone 4 the audio on the inspire sucks It doesn't even sound good when connected to the aux in my truck. And I have to root the phone to fix and HTC knows this thing sucks and will not fix it wow. My last Android device at this time it just seems you have to hack these phones to make simple things perform up to par

Played with a Sensation, my very first impressions!

Ok I know it's a little bit late for that but coming from N1 and DHD background and now having the sgs2 I wanted to post some very first impressions about a Sensation I could handle for 30mins:
+Phone feel very nice in hand, waaay better than the sgs2 ''fridge''
+Sense 3.0 is the best rom ever
-Carousel replacing the scrolling wallpapers is big step backward from htc, what the hell? using a qHD screen with 540x960 resolution wallpapers while DHD was 960x800??
-Speaker is even weaker than DHD which was the weakest in the market, even with volume+ set to maximum the speaker only gained a tiny 10%, if a cat begin to miaou you wont hear the ringtones
+Screen is exellent even under sunlight, though it doesn't have pure blacks of sgs2 but it has a superb image quality thanks to qHD,again too bad we can't use 1080x960 wallpapers
Even if it has some negatives I am still pretty much considering swapping my sgs2 with a Sensation, I missed so badly Sense!
+1 for the speaker volume.. its horrible
Interesting the comments about the speaker. While not outstanding the speaker on mine is a fair bit better than on my DHD.

Well, depends on how you define better.. i can tell you that when assigning a ringtone on my OLD sony W610i, it sounds better and louder than on the sensation, which is a damn shame if you ask me.
The built in ringtones on the sensation are fine, loud and clear, but when assigning my own ringtone, the sound is horrible both quality and volume wise. I totally expected more from a $600+ phone
I must recon I tried Volume+ with a S-ON sensation, dunno if it matters for this app to have root?
Speaker is the worst on the Sensation. My cliq xt overpowers it in sound under a pillow.... I'm not exaggerating.

I believe you. Its a shame and i hope it can be improved with a ROM although i dont get my hopes up too much as its probably a crappy hardware issue
Agree with you on speakerphone, it sounds hollow, weak and poor.
as for the ringtone, i was able to use some from zedge which i can hear unless i am in very noisy place and phone is in my pocket.

The speaker is quite poor, I agree. But the strange thing is on my previous model is was noticeably better (tested them side by side) than the one I have now.
Use adownloader or another music download app and trim ringtones yourself. This will assure you much better quality.

Yes, according to the link, it will work on any gingerbread rom. I installed it about 30 min ago, and can notice a slight difference on my low-grade headphones. Will try again on my good ones at work.
EDIT: I'm at work, using good headphones, and the quality difference is distinct enough to notice easily.

Just installed it on my phone. I have ZAGG buds which have decent sound for their price (I got them half off too). I admit I'm a little skeptical being a little more on the casual audiophile side. I know that with the DAC this phone has, high quality music shouldn't need silly gimmicks to make it sound better, but I'm about to see what I think now I guess!
Edit: Bah, I'm dumb and listened to Spotify before I applied so I had a crappy comparison. Anyway, playing FLAC in PowerAMP after installing sounds pretty good, but I almost feel like I hear a little compression that may be caused by Beats. Might remove the mod and test some more over the weekend. Overall it sounds pretty great though. No complaints.

Beats audio is software EQ only. Voodoo Control app is more functional, better, and doesn't consume battery life as an extra EQ layer on top of your audio. Also according to supercurio (twitter.com/supercurio), the ports violate HTC and Beatsbydre licensing, while also asking for donations for violating said license.
Well...that threads been out a while, so apparently someone got permission, so until they start shutting threads down i say beats is much more clear than voodoo... Good job bro...

So I just put this onto my phone today, which has Revelation Rom on it. Downloaded the file from my browser, then rebooted to recovery. I made a backup of my system through recovery when it rebooted to it. Then I flashed the zip, rebooted phone and voila! The phone seems like the audio is much better, but I don't know if there is anywhere to verify the flash took. There is no app in my app folders, maybe theres a beats folder in my phone somewhere.
The are multiple files. One that you can just check is in the system/bin folder. You will see files that say ibeats in them. That is the only folder i can remember right now.

I'm sure supercurio would disagree.
but voodoo and this are two different things with different purposes. cant be compared. voodoo is an open source driver from wolfson for our chip hacked into a module to replace the closed source Samsung driver unlocking some native features and givving acess to the hardware volume control. there is more it does on cm7 but it was left out of the Samsung roms because we have some software correction or emulation or eq in our libs that the rom depends on and can't be turned off. supercurio didn't want to stack layers of emulation or correction because of unpredictable or poor results or an effect of diminishing return.
this is software effects and/or equalization. the problem I have with that is the nature and quality of the effects is unknown. it may be sophisticated correction for the htc hardware and possibly have negative effects on our hardware. it might just be some compression or reverb to emulate a listening environment, might be a combination. we dont actually know. we also don't know how this plus our Samsung software is really effecting the integrity of the signal. but if you think it helps by all means use it. I personally see no reason to mess with it especially on a Samsung rom.

Beats Audio on my Atrix 2!

You guys see a member here ported Beats to work on any GB rom? I flashed it a few min ago but dont see an option to enable it? Anybody else done it yet and can confirm if we should infact see an option for it?

There are no options with it.
It is a set of libraries that modify the audio tuning of the device. You "should" hear a difference with a good set of headphones.

Just to add to my OP.....
Just yesterday I was perusing the forums when I stumbled upon a thread re: Beats Audio and xLoud and got the itch to give it a go on my phone to see if it would work.....then I wimped out
So when I seen today that somebody got Beats Audio ported for use with any GB rom I jumped at it and flashed it right away without doing any before/after comparison so wasn't able to notice any difference at all on the speaker.
To install it I just flashed it via CWM...didn't wipe anything, then rebooted of course. Well, I forgot that last night I decided to use the "performance" speed governor via SetCPU which sets the cpu freq. to a static 1kHz and didn't take effect until reboot. So I started noticing that my battery was draining awfully fast and the only thing I could remember changing was me flashing Beats Audio so I ended up restoring the backup I made yesterday....but the abnormal battery drain persisted. Then out of the blue I remember about the "performance" governor and set it back to "mot_hotplug", rebooted and checked it out for a couple hours and sure enough that was the issue.
So at this point I decided it was a good time to reflash Beats Audio but first doing an a/b comparison. The IEM's I had handy at the time were MEElectronics M6-P's and the main difference I could tell was a much more defined low end, without being overpowering. The mids/highs seemed to be more natural sounding, not as "tinny" or hollow sounding. I definitely like what I hear!
