Noticed this in my watchdog alert log from last night. I was awoken a little after 1:00 am to a reboot noise and pights from my plugged-in phone. I just looked at my watchdog high CPU alert log (> 50%) which happened about 20 mind prior to the reboot, according to the log times.
Anyone see anything like this? Could this be one of the reboot causes?
A quick Google search turns up some nvidia-related links but I haven't yet found anything mentioning g2x yet.

i never had a reboot on ANY of the 4 G2x's ive had... (used all of them over 50 hours each)
only thing i had was on the second one i owned it shutdown but stuck on the "goodbye" logo till i pulled battery... so that "reboot" issue isnt with all devices... sucks tho that some of you have it
Good for you, glad you haven't had any reboot problems. Now back to the thread.

It's more than "some," has been going on for six months, and does "suck."
LG has posted the following statement to Mobilsiden.dk:
- "LG is aware that certain Optimus 2X users occasionally find that the product may freeze or turn off randomly. The Nordic market has been one of the first to sell Optimus 2X, and we have sold a considerable number of units. Return rates are low and within the error margin, and it is only a limited number of customers who have experienced the situation. LG nevertheless regrets much the inconvenience this has caused.
We have found the cause of the problem and has developed a software update to remedy this. The update is currently being sent out in cooperation with our distributors. The timing of when the update will be available depends on the individual distributors.
LG strives to provide specimens of highest quality and are working hard to ensure that users have a continuous and good smartphone experience. We apologize again for the inconvenience. "

chill out dude.... take a midol
you made a thread about reboots... im giving feedback weather you want it or not you made a thread about something that could have been posted in 1 of the 8 "reboot" threads......
im simply stating ive had 4 G2x's and none of them had that problem..... 4 out of a million but still all different build dates meaning that its not as common as you make it seem
so again... sit down... breath..... count to ten... and stop acting like i messed your whole thread up with one comment....
There are lots of people on this board that have $500 phones and are pissed because of a problem they're experiencing that LG knew about six months ago. Whether you realize or not, you came across dismissive. I'm thrilled your phone is working for you; and other who have problem-free phones too. I and others that are having problems don't need to be marginalized. And whether you realize or not, your come across as 12 when you rant the way you just did.

the fact that you try to insult me with ASSuming my age tells me your not to far off the "preteen" phase your self....
my advice is to stop pissing and moaning about your phone and sell it or exchange it.... you sound like a bunch of simple minded iphone users

duh?

Its obvious you can't read and are prone to instigating confrontation. Since you are completely clueless, stop reading and trying to hijack my thread.
For everyone else, this is with specific regards to the cpufreq-dvfsb process and its possible ties to eventual lockup and subsequent reboot, which I have not seen discussed in this G2x forum. The purposes of this thread is, as articulately stated in the original post, to discuss cpufreq-dvfsd forbthose who are experiencing reboots.
@nate420 your comments in this thread are not appropriate nor appreciated and thereby further ignored.

I called a T-mobile Rep today about the "Screen-Bleeding" issue that many people are facing. It's not a deal breaker on my phone, just wanted to see if there was anything that could be done about it. She redirected me to LG saying a fix would be coming in terms of a software update. (clearly she did not know what she was talking about as this is a hardware problem)
Anyways, I asked the LG rep about the screen-bleeding issue and if there is ever going to be a fix for it. He said "No, the problem is there with all phones not just ours and we cannot offer replacements." I asked him what the t-mobile rep meant about a software update coming later this month. He said T-mobile has been saying that LG will release an update soon to their customers for a while now and it has nothing to do with what LG really plans to do. To his knowledge he is not even sure if LG is planning to release an update.
On a side note, surprisingly on my second call to t-mobile they decided to replace my phone, really odd considering I purchased my phone off craigslist. I did have to pay a 20 dollar warranty/exchange fee however.

Before anyone goes all batty over this statement, remember what we know:
-T-Mobile support staff and apparently their retention staff do not have a consistent statement around updates/upgrades. This is evident by the variety of statements we have seen reported here.
-LG is a big company. They have been very vague about what is up next for the G2x. Though we can be fairly sure an update is coming, details about fixes etc, have mainly come from the T-Mobile people mentioned above, and rumors created by us and other forums, to include the Tech Paparazzi.
-There have been many reports of an update out in the open. Nothing is confirmed by LG, but, we have visual documentation of its existence.
-Screen Bleed is indeed a hardware problem and it is not unique to LG.
-Many of the current, hot new phones have been experiencing very similar problems with reboots, screen bleeds, death grips, WiFi failure.
-There appears to be a consistent story among all companies where there are reports of problems, along with reports of no problems.
While we would love to hold T-Mobile and LG accountable for issues with any phone, most likely, they will fix what they will fix and move on. We'll argue for awhile, Mr. Clown will shut threads down, and eventually in a few months we too will move on. For me, I have a relatively problem free phone, I would love to see it loaded with the newest of the new. To my friends and partners in crime on XDA who have problematic phones, I hope the update will bring relief. I know the answer is going to be somewhere in between.
I look forward to the dialog this thread will create based on first hand conversation with both companies....let the rioting begin....

Yeah definitely agree seems that there is a lot of hype rumors created from the t-mobile side to get the release out to the customers to keep them happy. Don't think it is that "pressing" for LG to really push out any update and to them they don't really care, but are just doing so to fulfill their contract requirements with T-mobile. But come on the leak has been out for two months and still LG hasn't pushed the update out to T-mobile. Sure hope it will come soon!
Honesyly I don't even ccare about the update anymore. I just rooted and flashed nightlies on my phone and everything is better. Our devs Here are better then their engineers it seems like

Its one thing if the problems you listed are experienced by the minority but its another when the problem is as wide spread as the screen bleed issue on the G2X. I think out of all the phones recently released, the GSII is probably built the best in terms of major wide spread issues.

Eh they have some nasty issues too. Nasty Yellow spots and other screen issues. They do seem to have the least amount of "major" problems. My G2x runs flawlessly these days. So it would be between yellow spots or screen bleed.
I honestly think that it is just the Nvidia hardware. I have a Asus Transformer and it also has the Sleep of Death issues (won't wake up). Just like the G2x, a custom rom and kernel fixed it as well.

Hmm, not exactly. The banding on the left 1/4 of the screen can only be seen on a solid grey background, at 10% display brightness, in the dark, and by taking a picture of the screen. You can't see it with the naked eye. To the anal retentive, it's huge. To the 97% of the forum that haven't even looked at the thread on it, not so much. There's been other display QC issues but nothing horrible considering how many have been sold.
Can we just post in all caps on the main page "CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS KNOW LITERALLY NOTHING"?
Would probably save a lot of heartache.
I've noticed a well organized movement especially on this forums, which by the way seems biased toward HTC, to destroy the reputation of the Tmobile LG G2x.
Any wonder why G2x didn't get an update yet? I don't think so. All this slander has unfortunately slowed down support for G2x and the majority of G2x fans will suffer the consequences for the actions of this well organized few who wish to see the not so perfect HTC product win out.
Rofl.
Oh, and no.
I think your conspiracy theory about a conspiracy theory needs work.
No doubt its all being orchestrated by Apple to keep us Android fans arguing amongst ourselves. You know ... defeat us from within.
no wish it was
sory guy but the reason for the bad publicity for the g2x is because it is broken. many of us have exchnaged it several times only to get worse devices each time.
xda started pretty big with htc devices and it did take a while but i dont think a device that has come out isnt listed for support here. I for one do not want an htc device because they have a history of having poor antenna's as they did with the sensation. other than that i think HTC has stepped up the best with openness and communication with the community. And thus deserve the respect they are getting.
lg caused the problems with the g2x by releasing it with the same problems that the O2x had several months before. there is no hiding the fact that they knew and now they are just hiding.
Frankly I think HTC should target Samsung first...
wrong priority here.

I not biased at all LG, they had it coming to them and I only bought the HTC Sensation due to the G2x was unreliable, it not slander if it true.
The reason why updates are slow is due to your willingness to keep sub-standard merchandise and overlook the major issues. Even if your was fine, most others wasn't.
I gave LG every opportunity, to make good on their promise or refund me my money or just have a company officer call me back, but they refuse!! I even wrote a letter to their Alabama location and waited over three weeks and never heard back. Due to lack of communication and LG not standing behind their product, they deserve everything coming to them. It really didn't have to go this route, I hope more people post or keep posting if they had issues with LG corp.
I know this isn't going to fix any issues with the G2x, but will make companies think twice, before releasing a untested product with known issue to the market. And yes this phone was release 6 months before it hit USA, LG just rush it out to quick to be the first with a dual-core phone.
Conspiracy theory, no way. Dead end thread.

Saw the news and just bought a GNex. NEVER AGAIN, LG/Nvidia.
I want to be optimistic....
This is just LG Canada, I hope that doesn't mean the rest of the world.
Makes me sad, nonetheless.
I was worried too, but hey, in Canada we didn't even get Gingerbread (on our G2x atleast) so there's hope for it to come put for another country
I'm not holding my breath. LG/nVidia has given us NO inclination they care about their customers. Never again will I buy LG or any nVidia product (I've got 5 PC's, all of which will never see a nVidia card in them again).
I've already had enuff drama concerning this device and LG support, I mean I get the big gist of it and don't think I'm entitled to updated software. My beef is that GooG made it available, the carriers can only be blamed for so much, and Nvidia and LG have gotten sticks up there asses cause of the junk builds of the phone that were initially pushed out. They got shell shocked and buttoned up the house on support and dissed TMO in the process.
I'm done with half asses Pre-ICS devices and minor players trying to be large. Go big or go home LG, Think you can fool me twice Nvidia? No....
On the road to get my Galaxy SIII or my HTC One-X.....I'm sticking with players that got legs enuff to stand and balls enough to do what they want.
Holla'
LG is so confusing, they posted a couple days ago (LG Canada) that the G2X will be getting ICS, now they say the Optimus 2X wont? They need to get their story straight lol
LG support forums said the G2x will not be getting ICS...period. At this point I have to suspect that there is a whole lot of crack smoking going on in the LG Canada offices.

Seriously, because in this post:
https://twitter.com/LGCanada/status/212236732500934656
From June 11th, LG Canada states that the G2X (P999 they said) will get ICS in Q3 of this year. But the only carrier in Canada who carries the P999 (Wind) has stated that they won't release any more updates for the P999, it's so confusing haha
LG Can go to hell!!!!
Honestly lg makes a pretty good phone. Its really not lg's fault, its nvidia's because they're so closed source on their drivers. Yes, lg can get the drivers from nvidia because well, they're lg, but it has been stated that internationally they're working on ics for the O2x. Just have to wait and see.

I agree that the lifespan of this phone IMO was too short. But the reality is, is it that it takes money and resources to develop updates for any phone. If you already have new products you are trying to sell, there is no incentive for LG (or any other manufacturer) to continue support for an older product that will NOT generate revenue.
I hate this as much as you guys do, trust me, but it comes down to keeping the business running and generating income to stay in the game. All phones fall out of support eventually, and with new phones coming out every 6 months, those lifespans just keep getting shorter.
Here is hoping some other device with a Tegra 2 chipset gets ICS. We only need one to hopefully reverse engineer those drivers. :good:
It may be money but
LG and Nvidia's both need o know that virtually every member of our community will not by their phone products again. If its so damn expensive, release the source and let people develop for it. If that's too scary than just accept that we have learned never to trust you. The only way I buy Nvidia's again is if I get a nexus 7?..the only way I would buy an lg phone again is if someone paid me to take it. You failed--both LG and Nvidia's. I think it's time we advertise our unhappiness...petitions do nothing but bad press and bad reviews might be effective.

Although I see your point, I completely disagree. Customers bring revenue and customers need a reason to buy a product, so this is where reliability and credibility come in. By abandoning the older customers, they're putting a huge dent in their reliability; after all, how reliable is a phone that becomes obsolete in less than half a year due to poor customer support? Now add the fact that they've promised ICS in some cases and refuted that all together in other cases, and you can also throw credibility out of the window.
People who hear reviews from unhappy, abandoned customers will not want to buy an LG product and those customers will probably completely discredit LG in any way they can from that point on. When you look at it that way, the way that it actually is, you can see a terrible business model.
Well.. looks like my phone's heading to kijiji.
I know I'll never buy another LG phone. See LG, that's what happens when you don't support your products. Considering Gingerbread was out when this phone was released, there's no reason why it didn't come with it in the first place. At least I can get $85 trade-in for this one to put towards my Galaxy S3...

A Nexus 5 is not happening at mwc mainly because all nexus phones are released around new os releases. Key lime is not going to come out until June with Google's i/o conference. So if Google was to drop a new nexus phone it won't be until then. Unless we are going to be looking at an updated tablet instead of a phone which is very possible. So I doubt they are going to drop the Nexus 4. The Nexus devices have never been hot sellers when they've been released. The 4 had an unexpected response from consumers and that is probably why they didn't plan for higher production of these phones

This saddens me. My G2X is on it's last legs (Broken digitizer, headphone port malfunctioning). I was hoping to get the Nexus 4.. The last time it was available in Canada, it sold out while I was in school. I do hope that this article is false so that I can get a Nexus phone before my G2X dies.

Probably because Google already said the Nexus 4 shortage was due to LG not producing enough product to keep up with demand? http://venturebeat.com/2012/12/17/google-nexus-4-shortage-apology/ So my guess is if LG can't manage to keep the Nexus 4 in demand they can say goodbye to being a Nexus authorized manufacturer in the future.

Why? Because they didn't expect such a large reception for there new phone? You do know that they are producing other phones as well right? They can't just halt production of there other phones for the Nexus 4. It takes a lot of coordination to get these phones to be even produced. It's not like they just press a button and it's made. You don't know the challenge on the back end of product manufacturing. They made a product that they were unprepared for since previous nexus devices never sold as well. So stop acting like they don't want to take your money

It isn't just about the Noxious 4. LG appears to be unprepared for anything related to the phones it produces, especially support. You obviously haven't read enough about the multitudinous variety of complaints about LG, especially in the O2X, G2X and other LG phone forums on XDA and elsewhere. Being an apologist for LG doesn't get any sympathy or respect.

LG is not producing enough because Google underestimated the demand for the phone. Google is the one to blame here. Read the nexus 4 forum here at XDA. LG's production capacity has growing.
Furthermore, why would the production be stopped? There's a huge demand for a product. The stupidest thing would be to stop production..
Did anyone read the original story where this came from? No where does it say that nexus 4 production is stopped or discontinued...

Nexus phones are available unlocked and cost much less than similar capability phones and are gauranteed Android OS updates for a minimum of 18 months and receive those updates before other phones. So, why would LG limit production? To not alienate cell service providers and to not undermine the sale of its higher priced phones.

Yeah, you must be right, because I have seen LG refute this claim... oh wait.

Can you show me where original source confirms this [LG limiting production]?

So no source is a source then? Since you don't know anything you must know everything right? Also the only phone LG is having problems with in the cell phone community is the G2x/o2x. The reason most developers say it's a problem is the Nvidia chipset. The reason people complain about the Tegra 2 platform is its lack of open source drivers and its sloppy hardware. Pretty much every issue we have are the same issues Atrix users are having. Considering how well LG's other phones are working you really have to blame Nvidia for this problem. They made the terrible hardware here and did a crappy job coding. So please learn about this stuff before posting. I'm sure you annoy a lot of dev's with all your posts.

From LG at CES:
“Through our collaboration with Google, we launched the LG Nexus 4 smartphone. This is the first of many devices to come from our growing partnership with this very selective company.”
Please explain how that shows that LG is limiting/halting production?

If you read my post you will realize I was answering your question about why LG would limit or halt production of the Nexus/Noxious 4. An answer isn't a committment one way or another, it is just an answer to a question, yours. No one can definitively state what LG will or won't do. The G2x is an example of how untrustworthy LG is so why wouldn't it be with the Nexus/Noxious 4 too? The G2X was LG's "flags**t" phone not long ago, now it is in LG's trashbin. Whey wouldn't that happen to the Nexus/Noxious 4 or any other LG "flags**t" phone. Do you own a Nexus/Noxious 4? If not, why are you so emotionally committed to it? If you do own a Nexus/Noxious 4, post in the Nexus/Noxious 4 forum, not in the G2X one unless it's in the G2x Off Topic thread.

You obviously haven't been reading much of the posts on the the G2X forum, if you had, you would have realized that I and others have already stated, many times, what you just have and, BTW, I am one of the few left who is actually helping to get ICS/JB/CM10.1 running on the G2X. If I annoy a developer, their psyche is overly sensitive, like yours.

You're right with the criticism of what's wrong with the phone but not of me. So you're right and wrong.
