There are sites selling unlock codes for lg optimus 2x and they seem to work for people, I am thinking that it might work for G2X as its the same hardware, but different software?
What do you guys think?

I still think it is carrier dependent (don't you remember you're asked which carrier version the phone is?).
If the unlocking has O2x for T-Mobile USA, it'll surely be for G2x.

Hi. Last month I bought a LG Fathom (which is a Verizon phone). It is a WM 6.5.3 phone and supports both CDMA and GSM, it has both MEID and IMEI number. In the past month, I ordered many unlock codes from different sellers but they couldn't find it. I need to find that 8 digit unlock I'm ready to pay anything to unlock my phone, so if you even know something like "Octopus Box" for LG Fathom, I will be very happy to learn that. Please share any of your opinion with me, I really need your help to unlock that phone.

I'm new here, so I don't really know if this topic should be here.
So here is my problem, i got a lg optimus 2x p999 from eBay and its locked.
Then I bought an unlocking code for the phone, I tried several times (i think it was 6 times, don't remember very well), and was chatting with the person that sold me the code, he said that my phone could hard-locked from the seller.
I want to know if there is a way to unlock this phone, its carrier is T-mobile.
I'm very sad right now, first time scammed from eBay

Hi guys, I have a small question about receiving android updates after switching carriers. I got my LG Optimus g from Rogers without contract, and now I use it with fido without unlocking. Since android version updates are carrier dependant, will I still get the latest update when it comes out even though I'm no longer on the rogers network? Thanks

Depends... I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile and SIM unlocked an HTC One and HTC 8X to bring with me. My HTC 8X (Windows Phone) continued to get OS updates on T-Mobile but the HTC One did not. My solution was to use a custom ROM (ARHD) on my HTC One rather than being stuck on an aging AT&T flavored OS.
Just watch for when updates should happen and see if it does. If you don't get them then you have to consider your options (stay on an old build, borrow a friends SIM card for a few minutes who is on the carrier where it does gets updates, or do something like a custom ROM).

Those are some really good suggestions. My previous phone HTC amaze never got an update so I couldn't tell if carriers would affect it.
I wonder if windows os updates circumvent carrier restrictions, if so that would be why HTC 8X continued to get updates when your One did not.
Another thing is, the company I switched to is owned by my old company so I don't know if that would affect things

If your new carrier is owned by your old carrier I'd say that might improve your chances.

Help me determine if the LG G2 AT&T I ordered from Amazon is actually Unlocked. I dont even know i thought all unlocked phones are supposed to not have a stocked carriers app after unlocked but i dont know help me.
