New phone from wirefly.com?? - General Questions and Answers

Are they a good place to buy from? I'm planning on getting a g2x in the next couple of days, and their price is very tempting. Just don't know anything about the site...

I ordered my Motorola Atrix from them, and it was so much cheaper than going from the actual AT&T site. I would recommend using wirefly.

I bought my Samsung Epic 4g from them in November. Overall the experience was OK. The price for the phone was $70.00 less than it was being sold by Sprint. The phone was shipped within the time frame that they stated and it was brand new like it was supposed to be. I had trouble getting the phone to start off because they claimed that I was not eligible for the upgrade price on the phone, even though I was. I had to call them and they said that Sprint told them that I wasn't eligible for the upgrade. I called Sprint and the Sprint rep told me that their system keeps a record of whenever an outside vendor makes an inquiry on a record, and that there was no record of anyone checking to see if my account was eligible for an upgrade, and that I was eligible for an upgrade. I called Wirefly back and I was placed on hold and again they said that I was not eligible and that they had checked twice. I told them what Sprint said and had to pressure the Wirefly rep to effort to find the problem, since it was their problem. It took about 30 minutes to get the rep to get the right information and allow me to purchase the phone.
Normally, I would have just bought my phone elsewhere after dealing with the issue I did with Wirefly, but I pressed it because of the $70.00 savings. I figure it took about an hour of my life on the phone to get it squared away, so it was like making $70.00 an hour. If the price difference was much smaller, I would have given up on Wirefly and bought my phone from someone else. So, like I said to start off, they were OK. If you are saving money, it will be worth it...if it is the same price as you can get it elsewhere, I would suggest you get it elsewhere. Good Luck!

[Q] 119.99 at Amazon.com

Just wondering if there were any downsides to upgrading to the G2x through amazon.com for $119.99? You can do an individual or family line upgrade.
I just bought from Amazon and returned it. The upside is that the price is low and you have a 30 day return period. The down side, IMO, is that you have to hold on to the line and phone for 6 months or pay $250. This meant that, in the next 6 months, I couldn't give my wife the G2x for her line and then get the Sensation, SGII, etc. for my line without being charged the $250. I could deal with breaking the contract if I had / wanted to do so, however, I didn't want any additional financial constraints. Just my .02¢

how would Amazon know that you gave it to your wife? And how would they know you are using a different device on your line if you just do a sim switch? do they have access to that carrier data?
also, does this mean you can upgrade phones every 6 months from amazon for their subsidized price?

I don't believe so! They still have to go through T-Mobile to upgrade or activate new line!
So if you don't quality or you already did an upgrade then I'm guessing they'll turn you down!
But I could be wrong, I guess someone needs to read the fine print and let us know!

This is incorrect. Amazon only stipulates that the line upgraded/opened/added must remain active for at least 6 months. There is absolutely nothing stopping you from swapping phones on that line, you just can't close the line/account before the 6 months are up. Unless you plan on jumping ship from Tmo before then, this shouldn't be a problem.
I used amazon for my G2X and their service is awesome. First phone suffered from reboots/lockups so I called them and they overnighted a replacement with return postage for the broken phone at absolutely no charge and no questions asked.

Well, that's not what I was told by the Amazon representative. I flat out told them that is what I was going to do...swap phones on that line and they told me I could not do it without being charged. Whether or not the rep was right or wrong, I do not know. I just knew that there was a high probability that I would be either swapping phones and/or bailing on the contract so I didn't want to get caught with any extra fees.
As for the service from Amazon, they were great and very responsive.
Here's the exact verbiage from Amazon's site:
When you purchase your device with service from AmazonWireless.com, we automatically pass along an instant discount from the carrier to you. This discount has been provided to you based on your agreement to (a) activate a new, or extend an existing, line of service for this device with the carrier, and (b) maintain this service in good standing for a minimum of 181 consecutive days. If you do not activate or extend a line of service in connection with this device, or if your service is canceled/disconnected before 181 consecutive days, AmazonWireless.com will charge you $250 per device, plus applicable taxes.

Costco has G2x for 49 for a "new to T-mobile "contract PLUS you get

FYI
Costco has G2x for $49 for a "new to T-mobile "contract PLUS you get free case, car charger and a decent 35 dollar ish blutooth headset.
This is 30 dollars lower than just two weeks ago, so if you bought then, you can get that 30 back in cash. That refund part is why I thought I should post it out
The card with the price said it ends on the 31st, so I am not sure if you need to go in at that time to get the refund, or if its just the fact the price went down and you are aware of it.....my guess is you gotta be in the store wanting the refund at the time the sale is still going.
good luck

Appreciate the post on this deal. I do feel it fair to warn others about my experience with Costco's cellphone kiosk.
After getting my Vibrant there I will never buy a phone from Costco again. After the price adjusted I had to exchange my handset, they insisted I pay the difference for tax on the new phone and even tried to tac on some more stuff. They wanted me to pay about $50 just to exchange my phone! In the end the people at the phone kiosk (they arent actually owned by costco) would NOT help me, the store manager for that costco ended up just ringing it up for the ~$50 at the register and overriding it to $0 so Costco actually ended up paying the kiosk guys $50 so I could get a new phone! (Yay Costco manager! I know she didn't have to do this). I had tried the corporate store but they insisted I go back to Costco. Booo those guys!
I bought my G2X from an authorized reseller other than Costco and although I didn't run into the same problem, I did have to exchange the phone and took it to a corporate store, they insisted I go to the exact retailer I got it from. So I guess the moral is, T-Mobile makes your life miserable if you buy from a reseller and you have a problem, thus I will only get from T-Mobile corporate stores from now on, if I was a reseller I would be pissed about this, but thats not my problem.

Yeah, posted that a few days ago here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101107
They are actually offering more than you mentioned as well. (activation fee waived + an additional $35 credit to your bill)
If i bought my phone at costco and have a bad one as far as freezing / random reboots go do u think costco will acknowledge that problem and let me exchange it?
I only ask because they didn't seem to be experts on the phones that they were selling

I have not done the actual returns to Costco like the other poster said that sucked. They SAID that 30 days return phone and service....90 days return phone to Costco....with Costco being responsible for all things hardware, and the kiosk just doing the service side.
Do a complete system erase and see if that helps, if not, I would go straight to return counter of Costco, and let them work it, as opposed to starting at kioak.
sound like a YMMV thing too, so tell the girls that color looks really good on them... early on in the process.

Just exchanged my phone and had zero issues. I had a USB problem, in particular. The guy at the kiosk was curious about the issue so he tried to plug it into his computer and was able to replicate the issue (computer doesn't react to device at all).
Swapped it out for a shiny new one. And due to the way that he did the transaction, my timer for my purchase restarted again and I have another 90 days to return this new phone. This should give me plenty of time to determine whether or not I want to return it and get one of the new devices that are hitting the market soon.
I think you SHOULD be fine as long as the price and rebates are the same or less than when you originally bought it. What happened with mine is that the price had changed from just $50 to like $350 with a mail in rebate, so first they insisted the only way they could do it was to give me back my $50 and I had to just pay the $350 and get the $150 MIR and I was just SOL on the deal I got before, because Costco doesnt "exchange" anything, they just give you a refund and then you can buy a new one, and in my case a new one was $300 more! Anyway, I won't rehash the whole thing but in the end they were unwilling to help me, and the store management needed to step up and do the right thing.

Horrible Customer Service Experience Tmobile

I want to put as much emphasize on this story as possible because I really want some useful advice. 2 days ago my phone was stolen. Since then I have been trying to get a phone because I run a business and by now 3 days I have lost half a grand easily.
Last month I switched my phone from a 2 year contract to a prepaid month to month plan. At this point tmobile does not offer insurance on the phone any longer. This is important because after paying $140 per month for this phone with insurance, the month I switch to the $50 per month plan it is stolen and tmobile says, "o well".
I said can I buy a new phone? They said no because you still owe us money for switching the phone to prepaid and $150 on the actual phone itself. I did not pay the money to switch because the previous month I had the money the lady on the phone said she would take care of it which I thought meant since I never actually left the company they werent charging me to change plans...not the case after all, but do not find out until my phone is stolen.
I had an HTC Amaze for the record. So I went home and called tmobile. I was on the phone about 25 min before the connection became so bad I asked for them to call me back. They got the phone number and then never called. I had been transferred 7 times by this point. I called back and explained I was very frustrated. They transferred me to a specialist. This lady had me on hold about 20 min. Finally she said we resolved the $200 fee but you still have to pay the $150 on the phone. I paid the $150 and she asked me if I want to buy the new phone now? I said no because I wanted the phone immediately so I would go into the store to buy it.
I got to the store and they said I still owed $200. Even if the $200 fee was resolved he told me I cannot get the discount on the phone I wanted and that I have to pay the full price of $600 because they do not give a discount on their phones more than 1x per 2 year contract! Even on a new line. So I was going to buy a cheap phone and he said he could keep my old number and use this cheap phone until I could buy the phone I wanted later. I told him the Staples accross the street sold phones if I could ask them if they sold me a phone for cheaper they could activate it. He said it would probably only take me 30 sec to go check and to see.
I got back to the tmobile store in about 2 min and he had gone on his lunch break. I waited about another 20 min before another associate helped me who did not have the same deal with a cheap phone he told me about. In stead of $160 total for everything he wanted to charge me $200 for everything. I was there for 2 hours and by this point I am extremely upset and I want to leave tmobile.
This is not my first bad experience with tmobile. I have been unhappy since I joined. There is no complaint department. You have to write out a letter and mail it in. I left out some details of why I am so upset because the bottom line of the story is I am just completely unhappy with tmobile. They treat you like you are nothing without them, and will be fine without your business. This may be true but I have been paying almost $150 per month for almost 9 months and now they want me to pay $200 when I am not even leaving their company, then my $600 phone which is fully paid off is stolen they not only do not help me, but they are rude and go on lunch after he told me to go ahead and check which would only take a matter of seconds. I ran to the store and back and he was on a 30 minute lunch, I am just unhappy with the whole company. I will not even go into details of when I was having trouble with the phone during the previous 9 months.
What I want to know is how do I leave a phone company without paying their fee. Its not right, I am leaving because their service is so unsatisfactory in my area, and now I need help they not only do not help but want to charge me full price to get my line back. If I switch to another company can I still keep my same number? I need the same number for my business and I would much rather not stay with this company. Could anyone recommend any links with information, or which service providers you prefer? Thanks.

Sprint Rage/rants in here...

I swear, today's BS at the Sprint store has me engulfed in fumes! Last week, i ask to have a white Note 2 ordered as I wanted to pay the full retail value. Had a good chat with the sales rep(long time friend), and took care of me accordingly. Due to the late order, this was last week Thursday, said the phone would be in today and to come by then. No problem, waited patiently.
Walk into the store today and ask for my phone. Was told only one shipment came in and there's no white N2's to be seen with my name on it. The girl rep told me, I'd be notified once the phone arrived. Said, np and waited patiently again. Hrs go by till about an hour ago. Call, girl rep says phone is here. I'm like wtf, why wasn't I notified!! Then im told to bring all the payment upfront or no phone, on top of the ***** telling me she was confused about everything and couldn't help me!! FACEPALM...
Called up Sprint and *****ed about it all. Ordered the phone, through the billing 1-800 number and had it over night shipped. The helpful lady waved the $35 activation fee, along with the $12 shipping fee. Even though it was nice, i feel like a better discount could have been given. When you spend $700 ++ on the phone followed by 12yrs of customer loyalty, you'd think that sprint would throw in a phone case w/10%-15% off my phone purchase...!

the last time i tried replacing my nexus s 4g (after having dropped it and cracking the screen), asurion offered me a different phone because they had none at hand that very moment. i would be okay with this IF it was an upgrade from my phone, but they tried giving me some LG phone that was anything but an upgrade spec & feature-wise. turns out the lady was offering that phone to me only because their highest priority was to have a phone to me by the next business day. i told her waiting an extra business day to get the same phone was no problem... got a replacement 2 days later ::rollseyes::

Bestbuy Preorders for Verizon

Hey so I was thinking about preordering from bestbuy but i noticed on their website, they have the unlocked s6 for 750, while verizon has it for 600. What prices have people around here been getting the verizon one for from bestbuy?

They usually can price match Verizon corporate price.
Best Buy on Elston in Chicago was selling pre-orders with included charging dock, but unfortunately, had no 128GB SKUS whatsoever. By the way, does anyone know where we can pre-order off-contract S6 Edge's?

People are saying that the off-contract prices at Best Buy are $150 more than at VZW, but that certainly wasn't the case for me. See http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/31391i/free_wireless_charger_at_best_buy_for_pre_order/

Yes Best Buy's prices are $150 more than Verizon, however I've heard they're price matching. Seems silly to me, plus you're more likely to get it in your hand sooner if you pre order from verizon

Right. But, if they are price matching (which they were at my location), then I'd rather go with Best Buy and get the free wireless charger, which is $60.
So i did my research and talked to a few bb employee friends and they do not price match off contract pricing. Anyone that says they will is probably just saying that, and they'll most likely give you a hard time when you go on the 10th to pay full price. Of course, you can be an exception though.
Anyways, submit my preorder with vzw and ordered a 20$ wireless charger from amazon.
I questioned a Best Buy employee yesterday to verify my full retail price and questioned the price being $150 more. He assured me they would price match the Verizon "Edge" price which in my case was $699 for the 64GB. He offered to give me a written price quote to avoid any confusion on release day and I took him up on it.
Now obviously there is no guarantee that any of that will prevent them from trying to over charge me when it's released but I feel okay about it.
I also questioned him about the Verizon release date and if they'd have it ON that date. He told me they were planning on an April 10th release date unless they get a "push back" date from a Verizon. He said if that's the case it'll be the same for everyone including Verizon. He said the only thing that would prevent someone from getting a pre-order ON that release date would be a lack of supply. He said this was an issue with the Note 4 but he wasn't sure if it was something they'd have an issue with for the S6.
Again none of this really means anything and it's no guarantee but hopefully it'll provide some comfort for those of us who have already preordered from Best Buy.
Hi Verizon users, does the S6 work for T-Mobile's LTE frequencies? I really want to ditch my Note 4, but I honestly cannot tell because I feel like the bands are lower, but I hear the S6 is unlocked though Verizon. Is this true?
Just letting everyone know that if your getting the 2051 error code that they "VZW/bb" know about lol but don't about"know anything " about. At the last step your billing pass is not you acct login pass. It's the last 4 of you ss. Even though you put your ssss above.
Also beware, do not pay off your edge plan over the phone in order to edge up. You will be in limbo for a month. I was in best buy last Wednesday night to pre order and what I wanted to do was keep my Droid Turbo so I was paying it off completely. At the advice of the person at best buy he told me to call 611 and do the transaction, so I did. The Customer service rep took my payment knowing what I was trying to do and he told me I was good to start a new edge plan. Well no the only way you can pay off your edge plan is to go to a Corp store but no one told me this and now I can't get any phone unless I buy it out right for 30 days.
They could price match verizon corporate price.
This morning I got an email saying my order was delayed until May 7th, then 4 hours later got an email saying my order had shipped. Glad I didn't cancel.

Anyone know when BB will get the gold in? I picked up on 4/10, but 32 white. Really want the gold. Hoping it comes in within the next two weeks.
Bestbuy Sucks
I pre-ordered from bUstbuy. I got an email stating i can pick up my pre-order on 4/10/15. I went by the store to pick up my phone and they said. Verizon is not selling that phone until 4/17.
i argued with the guy for a few minutes and asked why i got the email from their company saying my order was ready for pickup.
He started getting kinda irate about me questioning him. he about yelled at me that Verizon stores are not selling the phone until 4/17......
So i left bUstbuy and went across the street to verizon and picked up my new 64gb white S6.
F- Bustbuy... they'll never get my business again.
