[Q] Languages in WP7 Devices,How many built-in? Are carrier dependant?(Western World) - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I`m studying the range of WP7 devices, but until now I have none of them.
I am particularly interested in American devices (mainly at&t, Bell, Telus and Rogers devices); and Telstra`s australian devices; and the Spanish language.
The questions are about languages that are included with the devices:
How many languages are supported in current WP devices?
The amount of languages included are carrier, model, or Manufacturer dependant?
The languages can be changed without a hard reset?
Is the spanish language included in all WP7 occidental devices? What devices?
e.g.
A Telus HTC 7 Surround, and an At&t HTC Surround (both T8788 model #), came with the same "set" of languages?, or the canadian model is different of U.S. model?
Please, give me some light (I prefer long answers)
Thanks in advance!

I asume there are the same languages on every device. I got German, English (twice - UK and US), Spanish, French and Italian.

Thanks for reply!
Then I want to make a more easy question, What languages are getting in your device?, and what device (model/carrier/country)
Best regards

Searching for German CDMA ROM for Touch Pro2 (formerly Verizon)

I have long searched all fora and have not found much, so please excuse my new post ...
I moved back to Germany with a HTC Touch Pro2 branded by Verizon. However I am no longer Verizon Wireless customer.
I would like a German ROM on my handset, possible a WM6.5-based ROM and, of course, it needs to be CDMA radio compatible as I read in most of the posts that a GSM ROM would wreck my device.
At present there is still the newest WM6.5 ROM from Verizon (3.04.605.3) flashed on it, but the radio (2.32.00WU) is already Security and SIM unlocked (I applied Hard-SPL).
Does anyone know a CDMA-based ROM in German?
Thanks,
Mat Fred
Is you reasoning for a German ROM purely language?
I think you can use any CDMA ROM and just use an international SIM card.
there isn't a german cdma rom
Yes, my main reason for a change to a German CMA ROM is language as it is kinda enoying to get english spelling hints when texting for example.
But also I would like to get rid of the Verizon branding since I am not using it anymore.
-Thanks

We are CDMA, so all of those GSM world ROMs CANNOT be used. Using a world GSM ROM could potentially brick your device
You will want to check out all the custom ROMs over at PPC geeks...some might even have a german language pack:

[XOOM 2][Q] Xoom 2 version for Germany?

Hello,
first post here, from someone looking to buy a Xoom 2 (3G) in Germany but who does not live in Germany and therefore would not like to be stuck with a localised version.
Hence the question: are there any "Germanised" versions of the Xoom2 that I should be wary of?
I've asked an online retailer (notebook.de) who advertise the Xoom2 as "German goods" ("deutsche Ware") if there were any differences between that product and an EU version, such as with the language settings. They promptly answered that the difference was:
a) in the supplied power plug (German version suits me fine) and
b) in the pre-installed language - it is German, but "you can change it in all Android devices".
I am a little hesitant about the last part because a friend in Germany has a Xoom 1 which has German as the only language option.
Should I be worried or are there no special German versions of the MZ616?
Thanks,
Tolimas
(can't wait to press that "Order" button!)
I don't know about the Xoom 2, but the original Xoom was localised to Germany with German language only!
I'm also a non German living in Germany, so was incredibly annoyed that Moto would ship such a product, where you can't even set to English, never mind one of the many languages in neighbouring countries! Moto clearly have no concept of how people live in the EU!
My only option was to unlock and re-flash with the Euro standard ROM.
As I said, I don't know if the same will be true for the Xoom 2, but be prepared for a frustrating first few hours if you do get one!
That's exactly what I fear.
On the other hand, I could return my purchase - or simply re-flash it - if it turns out to be localised.
With this thought, I ordered mine today and am now awaiting the courier's call

HTC 8X AT&T unlocked - Is it possible to add system languages

Hello.
I have a HTC 8X from AT&T and it's unlocked, working flawlessly with my actual carrier.
The smartpohone features only English and Spanish for system languages, but I'm able to download many other languages for keyboard and voice control, and maps from all over the world.
Is it possible to download or install other system languages to this phone? I can't through the phone, but is there any other way? I could do that to my HTC One XL from AT&T (Android) that featured only English and Spanish to, just by editing a config file.
Thanks in advance. Any grain of salt will help.
Hey, I'm from Peru and I got the same Phone from att.. the only problem I got is that I cant make internet sharing to work. Do. You have the same problem?

Time to ask Samsung to add more languages on North American S8

Hi, I am enjoying Galaxy S8 a lot.
Currently, I have G950W, which is Canadian variant. It might be a variant with least amount of language support.
It only supports English, French, Chinese, and Korean.
Many would say it is not a big deal, but for myself, it is a big concern. And for others, for almost same amount of money paid for, they are getting less support from Samsung.
I have a special app that won't even run when language is not set to Japanese, which is really bad on Canadian variant. Also, I know how to add languages by selecting "show additional languages" than Samsung suggested ones, but it didn't work.
That forced me to use US firmware, which has more language support than Canadian variant.
I couldn't add cards on Samsung Pay although being Knox 0x0 on US firmware, and had trouble using Samsung+ or Samsung Members app.
Still, I had FM radio working and it was one of the positive sides.
When I saw a news that v3 bootloader will only accept using original firmware, I realized I might not be able to use Oreo, while keep my app working. If I want to go to firmware with v3 bootloader, I would need to use G950W firmware, and then it means an app I use won't run anymore.
Besides my "special" case, there are several additional problems with differences in Samsung's language support on different variants.
1) Other competitors' phones support languages they support, regardless of regions. iPhones support all languages, Google Pixel does it, OnePlus does it, Huawei does it, LG does it (At least on LG G2, I could see many languages available), even Xiaomi does support all languages they can support no matter where their phones are sold.
2) People paid same amount of money, some gets less out of money they paid. It is unfair for Canadian buyers getting S8 has less options on language settings because they bought Canadian variant. Galaxy S8 should be Galaxy S8, not one with less language support.
3) It is not just a matter of running special apps... There can be people who would be more comfortable to use phone in their languages... They would less likely to choose Samsung, and choose competitors with more language settings. (Especially iPhones)
4) Samsung does have money and time to do so. Seeing global variant with tons of language settings, it doesn't mean Samsung cannot support these languages on North American variant. Also, most of language part of the software can just be copied from global variant, as they are mostly exist in strings part. (I mean, values can be copied) It won't cost that much for Samsung to add languages on North American variants that global variants already have.
