my xoom lags terribly with live wallpapers - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

using blue skies and thunder storm live wallpapers causing noticeable lag and delay when moving widgets or scrolling through the home screen pages. Anyone else having this issue?

Yup, I can't use them .

Most of em cause mega lag. I use starfield live wallpaper and it has 0 lag.

Same here lagged really badly!

It lags either way.

I have zero lag using Aquarium live wallpaper with Launcher Pro. I only have one screen though but it is fully loaded with widgets. Where do you see the lag?

I just made this video with Live Wallpaper to show my experience. And it is my first ever YouTube video! Anyway, hope it helps:

even beautiful weather animations are choppy, without a live bg.

When i wake my XooM from it's sleep, the UI lags for a few seconds when swiping through the homescreens. but once I begin using the music player/gallery the in-app speed bounces back to normal (no lag). Just lag on homescreens.
I've heard in a different thread that you can stop/relaunch the launcher service to fix it. but I don't see that service running to stop it.

[Q] Phone live wallpapers

Is it possible to create original artwork or graphics for a live app that runs like a game (maybe similar graphics quality to angry birds) that is not just on a video loop but is actually a running program? Would that be too big to add as a live wallpaper? How difficult would it be to make that type of thing. Would it be tough to make it work equally with landscape and vertical as well?
This is my first post and any feedback would be much appreciated.
Thank you
the mario lwp does actually have an AI mode

Hi Guys,
it's kind of irritating when the wallpaper i set gets crop off certain parts. ie, the hands or something. the wallapaper juz wun fit into the potrait and landscape mode perfectly. is there a way where i can juz set everything to be shown as it is, esp in potrait mode? (i seldom use landscape).
Wallpaper wizardrii app with 'stretch portrait' setting is working much better for my portrait ready resolution wallpapers. the system default wallpaper tool seems a bit flakey, works sometimes but not others.

I tried the wallpaper cropping apps for my nookcolor and they weren't that great and not easy to use.
What I use now is Quickpic, which I also use as my default gallery app. It allows you to set portrait or landscape wallpapers and cropping is easy, with no degradation of image quality.
ok noted. thanks guys!

[Q] Picture Wallpaper = lag; Live Wallpaper = zero lag?

Regular picture wallpapers create a lot of lag no matter what the resolution of the photo is and how I crop the image to set the wallpaper, even factory wallpapers. Switch over to Live wallpapers and its streamline baby smooth. No lag at all. I don't want to use a live wallpaper, I have many nice regular static picture wallpapers that I'd like to use. What is the cause of this; it's strange to me. Thanks in advance.
Hmm never heard of this issue. Maybe a live wallpaper keeps the home screen more active and awake thus reducing loading time?
Anybody else care to chime in on this?

[Q] GCL and on screen buttons

So I've noticed when playing a video from my gallery it plays in full screen, however in the NHL gamecenter live app the on screen buttons don't go away and the video is unfortunately smaller than it needs to be. Anyhow is this something that I just have to hope the NHL fixes on their app or is there a way to disable the on screen buttons and actually watch games full screen?

Pretty cool wallpaper app

It's call FiveWallpapers
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rom.livewallpaper.fivewallpapers
Allows different wallpapers for each homescreen (nothing new but this is by far the best one I've found). Has motion effect, infinite scrolling and transition effects. Works well on the Z2 Force. I also have it installed on my Asus Zenpad 3s 10.
