[Q] GCL and on screen buttons - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've noticed when playing a video from my gallery it plays in full screen, however in the NHL gamecenter live app the on screen buttons don't go away and the video is unfortunately smaller than it needs to be. Anyhow is this something that I just have to hope the NHL fixes on their app or is there a way to disable the on screen buttons and actually watch games full screen?

looking for video rotating App

Is there a free video rotating app/method that can be use directly on Android like the Gallery app does for images? Once in awhile my recorded videos get upside down and it seems like there should be an easy way to rotate this but I can't find any, it's frustrating... thanks!

[Q] Day Dream App that play video

i looking for an daydream app that plays select videos when the phone switches to daydream mode. I first tried live wallpaper apps but the video loses its aspect ratio and does not rotate to landscape.
Anyone know of an app that can make this happen

Is there a horizontal screen flip app?

I have a DIY smartphone projector and the lens flips the image up-side-down. The only available solution is to use a screen rotation lock so that the phone is upside down. The image, however is still horizontally flipped so you can't read text. I can't find an app that horizontally flips screens, but I know there is a video converter app that does this to videos. The problem with that is I'd need to download each video and convert it and then play it.
So my final question is:
Do you know of any screen flipping app or a video player (Like VLC or MX) that has the ability to play videos flipped? (Or if you know any other fix, let me know)
Maybe add a mirror to the DIY projector?

Crop to fit video in other apps than YouTube

Is there a mod or way to get other apps playing video content to 'fill the screen' ... i.e. crop to fit.
Not make app full screen from multitasking or allow apps full screen settings ... I mean like YouTube has a floating crop button to fill the display with the content? ?

On both Amazon prime video and Netflix there's an option to fill the screen. Not exactly the same and sometimes you have to press it a few times but it does work.
Also in display settings you can choose which apps to make full screen. I toggled them all.

Full screen video player

How do you watch things like BBC iPlayer in full screen?in YouTube there's a button to crop video and it's fills the screen but nothing for BBC,itv ect even with full screen apps button toggled for each app.
Full screen apps puts the app itself into fullscreen mode but it that won't effect how the app handles video playback. They're likely set to fill the video to screen, not crop the top and bottom to fit an unusual aspect ratio. Remember that most phones before this were standard 16:9 so this was never an issue previously. There's no way to do what you're asking yet AFAIK. It will either have to be enabled in the app itself (such as YouTube) or introduced into a future S8 update. Always the possibility of a root option down the road as well if Xposed ever comes to the S8.

DW mate, give it a couple more months and I'm sure that you'll forget that this was even an issue. App developers will presumably pick up the slack over that time, some apps are already starting to adapt to the longer screens of the S8 and LG G6.
Its poor third party apps without any video aspect ratio or video fit/crop/stretch options that are the issue. Most 3rd part developers assumed that their apps would only ever be used on standard 16:9 phones or similar.
And you can't really blame the phone for being 18.5:9 aspect ratio, its all about personal preference and some people like myself prefer the longer screen, even knowing that some content may never fit the screen how you'd like it. Although, for those times that you CAN utilize the full real estate of this beautiful screen makes it more than worth it in my eyes.
