[Q] HTC Desire Z Gold card downgrade - General Questions and Answers

I have version 1.84.666.2 on my Bell HTC Desire Z, do I have to do the MISC.img part of the gold card creation for the downgrade to work.
I attempted to flash without doing the MISC.img step last night and it failed stating that the current software was older.
Any suggestions would be great thanks
Muyari

I have a similar issue, am trying to downgrade my Desire Z to a rootable firmware, but every time its comes up with an error to do with the CID. Gold card methods apparently do not work, I don't know what else to do!

Yes,if you are s-on and running a stock firmware, you will need to rewrite the misc img with one containing a lower firmware number than you want to go.
The gold card does work, just not for downgrading by itself. The gold card prevents carrier checks,so you can flash a different carriers ruu on your device.
So if you need to flash a different carriers older firmware, you'll need to place the firmware on a gold card to flash, and rewrite the misc image.

[Q] Back to stock rom - stuck in boot loader

Hey folks,
I need your help.
I just tried to reset a Desire S to factory settings, including S-ON, stock rom and so on. I just did not realise, that me device is branded so I followed the guide for unbranded devices. Now I've got a Desire S with an S-ON, factory HBOOT but without any ROM or recovery partition.
The last installed stock rom was 1.47.206.2 but I only find o2-RUUs for 1.31.206.1, which HBOOT won't accept: "Main Version is older!"
Any idea what I can do now?
Opps.
I'm afraid that you might have done what this chap did :

If you buy along with a contract it's normally branded.
It will also have network related bloatware installed on it on top of the base HTC ROM as well as having network splash screens and possibly even boot animations.
Its normally quite obvious.
I got it. I just managed to create a working gold card, so I could flash an non-branded version. Right now I'm downgrading back to the current provider version. Thanks

i cant create goldcard cuz i dont know the sd card cid "i cant using adb on fastboot"
Plz tell me what can i do???
Well, I'm not sure there is a lot to do when you're S-ON. But I would give Android Flasher a try. It worked for me, even if adb couldn't recognize my phone.
Thanx my friend i will try it
Android flasher doesnt work with hboot S-ON.
U can make gold card on other android device. And then, u can run RUU Europe 1.28.
If you can't, you can take to Services or S-OFF by XTC-clip
I had the same problem, but do not dispair you can fix this.
Obviously one point you have missed on the whole goldcard thing is that you dont have to use ADB or your bricked phone to find out the CID, put it into a card reader and use your PC. So onto making yourself a goldcard.
The process of creating one is rather hit and miss, but I eventually got one to work. Make sure you use an MicroSD card that is 2GB or smaller as any larger than this and it's a SDHC card and wont work. I used a old 1GB Sandisk card my girlfriend had spare. Have a look on the forums for a goldcard.exe file to run on windows to simplify the process, I found this worked when the forum described method did not. Keep trying with this as it took me many attempts to get a working goldcard.
From your post it sounds like you want to install the cool new Android 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0. Your problem is your phone will not take the European RUU 2.10.401.5 as your phone is from another region - 1.47.415.1 (india?) and got screwed up in the process. The bold part of the software version number relates to region. Mine was from Thailand and the european update worked when installed with my goldcard.
When you have your goldcard created you need to extract the ROM.zip file from the RUU (just run the exe and look in your PCs temp directory whilst the exe is open, it unpacks itself there) and then rename this to PG88IMG.zip. Put this file onto your goldcard and then power on your Desire S whilst holding the Vol. down button.
If you still get errors like 130 or 140 your goldcard is not made correctly, so try again.
Once you have the new update working take yourself to htcdev.com and unlock the bootloader, then you can flash CWM recovery and root it as well.
Hope this helps
thanxxxxxxxxx all really i miss these solutions because i was very confuse
thanx again for all i will try it and give u my feedback

One tiny correction on this part, I use a 16GB SanDisk Class 6 GoldCard. Means its an SDHC and I haven't had any problems with it.

[Q] Unroot htc incredible s(Model no- S710e) Indian model

Hi Guys,
I have rooted my phone few months back using Revolutionary to gain s-off and installed Cyanogenmod 7.1. After using it i did not like it much. So I again installed the htc stock rom (which i had taken backup before installing custom ROM) without turning to s-on.
Now I would again like to get back my s-on so that i can update my phone to 2.3.5 with sense 3.0 using OTA. Since by phone is rooted the OTA doesnot work (Get andriod image after restarting phone).
I tried other threads from the forum to unroot it. But I get the msg "Incorrect model id" while performing those steps. Can anyonce please give me the stock rom along with steps to unroot it for indian version of IS?
-Thanks
Ajit
Any help guys??
Please help me guys!!!!
HI,
I am facing the same problem. Did you have any luck? If you could upload the stock Froyo ROM that would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance
The Revskill link "psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard" is not working for HTC Gold card creation may be they are not giving further support for Gold card creation, I also tried script method "IncS_MVDTKV3.1" but not able to create a gold card as i am getting ERROR [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR during RUU installation.
This means Gold Card is not created.
I am Using kingston 8Gb microSD card,
RUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.30.405.1_Radio_20 .2808.30.085AU_3805.06.03.03_M_release_199308_sign ed.exe
I have unlocked Bootloader by HTCdev.
CID - HTC_038 (Indian HTC Incredible S s710e)
HBOOT: 2.00.0000
S-ON
Please Suggest Some kind of Solution

[Q] reformat Goldcard after usage?

Hi,
I created a goldcard with my stock Desire S 8GB SD card thanks to this charming forum and switched the vodafone branded firmware to the HTC Europe 2.10.401.9 version and disabled the OTA updates.
My question is, is it recommended to reformat the SD card for further normal usage and recreate the goldcard when the ICS RUU is available,
or can I just leave it the way it is and then put the rom zip on the card when the update arrives?
There is one other question nagging me. Are the latest small updates (mail updates I believe) included in the RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.9 RUU?
If not, is there a possibility to receive those?
Thanks
Ho there, in my experience i have found that once a goldcard, IT stays a goldcard, even af ter a format. With the other question i wouldn't have the faintest clue sorry ;-)

How do you get the ROM from the HTC RUU?

I've read previous threads that instruct to search for rom.zip in the temp folder. I have found the rom.zip but it does not flash using CWM. How do I get the rom which I can flash through CWM?
You don't flash it through cwm, you rename it accordingly (PHxxIMG.zip) based on your phone model and flash it through HBOOT.

Okay. I do recall my phone searching for similarly named images when I booted the phone to recovery. How exactly am I supposed to flash them after renaming and placing them in the root of my SD Card?
Also, do normal regional restrictions still apply to this process? (Will it bail if I try flashing the phxximg.zip of a European RUU on a asian phone?)
Thanks a lot.
Don't know about the regional restrictions. To flash it you just put the renamed zip in the root of your SD card and reboot into bootloader. It'll scan for the file and ask you to press some key if you want to flash the update. That's it.

Regional restrictions apply unless you have changed your CID to allow for flashing of other regions ROMs. This is called "SuperCID". I'm not sure which HTC phone you have otherwise I'd link you to how to get it on your phone, but it's a simple google search "SuperCID *phone name*"
When you have SuperCID, it allows the flashing of any ROM by any carrier so if you intend on doing an Asian ROM on a Euro phone, check and make sure the hardware is the same, otherwise you'll bork something.
Example: if you flashed a CDMA EVO 3D ROM on a GSM EVO 3D, you'd likely lose your data, signal at least, given that the CDMA and GSM 3D's have different radios. You'd probably lose even more but the data and signal at least are for sure.

Exactly, just got an incorrect CID error. I'm trying to do this on HTC One V. The bootloader is unlocked. Can you please link me to the SuperCID for HTC one V? Is it software or hardware?
Also for this process, do I need to have stock recovery or having CWM won't cause any issue?
Moreover, is it okay if the bootloader is unlocked or do I "relock" it?

Can you please post me the link to the SuperCID for HTC One V. Googling didn't help much.
Another very important question, my stock ROM was an Indian one. I rooted and flashed a stock European ROM. Due to this process, do you think the original CID was modified?

You'll most likely need to re-lock before flashing the RUU. I haven't heard of a way to get super-cid on the One V yet, but if it's possible you should be able to find it in the HTC One V forums.
