I recently used ODIN to flash my T-mo Vibrant back to stock and then upgrade to Froyo. I was unimpressed by Froyo and wanted to flash a custom rom so I rooted and tried to flash a custom rom and it wouldn't work. I then used Odin to try to flash back to stock....got my vibrant stuck on the phone -triangle- computer dl screen after multiple tries it still wouldn't flash in an act of frustration I dl'd another ODIN and one clicked flashed my Vibrant I then find out that this particular ODIN was made to flash a stock captivate rom so now my Vibrant boots to the at&t world phone screen and loops. I tried button combos to get to dl mode and haven't succeeded.....HELP PLEASE! -also will the dl mode usb jig help in this case?-
I'm not familiar what ODIN is but have you posted or tried looking for your answer under the Samsung Vibrant specific forums?

I have the same problem too!
Not sure what to tell you if you cant back into the bootloader...that's kind of an iffy problem...I'd try looking for some info on anyone else who's run into the problem. ODIN's a great tool, but destroying your bootloader can be quite an issue.......

After a failed ROM flash, I am now unable to flash any ROM onto my Galaxy s 4G except for PDA_UXKG3_rooted_no_bootloaders_v2.tar.md5. However, this ROM won't do since I have no service when I turn on my phone. I assume this ROM is for another carrier or a different type of Galaxy.
I can get into download mode and recovery mode.
I have tried many different ROMS (rooted and stocked, got them from http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik..._Rooted.2C_Deodexed.2C_Busyboxed_ROM_packages) for my phone and none of them will finish the flash process, Odin3 always fails at modem.bin. I have tried numerous times to reset to factory defaults from the Recovery Mode but the phone says it can't access some ATT folder.
I am using Odin3 1.85 and have a Samsung Galaxy s 4g sgh-i997.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get my phone working again? At this point I just want any ROM that gives me service to work on there. I
Thanks.
This forum is specific to the t959v. Not sure what phone you have with that model number

I think the I997 is an Infuse 4G, not the Galaxy S 4G. You may want to look in the Infuse 4G forums. I would love to try and help but I don't know that phone model.
In one tutorial I found, it said I needed a full firmware package, does anyone have a link where I can get that?
Even if I have a different model, does anyone have any suggestions on getting my phone back to stock? Or just working somehow? I would guess that if I can get into download mode, I should be able to get it working again.

That's correct; getting into download mode should be able to get you there again. Here's a thread on the Infuse 4G forum that has a lot of different ROMs:

Good luck.
Thanks guys. I followed this tutorial and it worked perfectly. droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/07/guide-how-to-unbrick-and-fix-your.html
I guess I just needed the PIT, PDA and PHONE (modem) files. Previously I was only using the PDA file.

Moving to Q&A
My wife entrusted me with her new SK4G to flash some custom roms. For what ever reason, it soft bricked. and i was unable to get back into CWM so i figured. fine.. time to odin. IM not new to samsung phones. i have owned the epic 4g touch, the original epic 4g and now the t-mobile sgsII. For whatever reason now though, after flashing KD1 the phone attempts to boot up, it has the notification light lit up, and a black screen(though you can tell that the phone is working because you can see the back light.) I've searched for KG2 but unfortunately the only link i've found is broken. Someone please help, my wife is bout to kill me!!!!!!!!
**** You can Close this thread Mods. I have solved the issue. YOu can not unbrick a phone without a zImage in the odin tar = )********
kj2 is better anyway
Hey everybody. I have a Samsung Captivate with CM7 installed. The other day it started bootlooping and I couldn't get it into recovery mode at all, so I ordered a Jig.
Now the Jig's here and I'm still not sure what I'm doing. I can't get into recovery with the button combos, so I'm kinda stuck. Any suggestions?
I would suggest that you use the jig to get into download mode, then do one of two things:
1. Flash a kernel that works with CM7 from Odin or Heimdall
2. Flash a stock rom from Odin or Heimdall, then reinstall CM7
You may want to try option 1 first, then option 2. If a bad kernel flash caused the issue in the first place, you might be able to save your installed programs & setup instead of having to wipe everything with a stock rom.
I've been trying unsuccessfully for the past couple of hours to flash back to stock. Odin keeps getting hung up on "Get PIT for mapping..." or the sbl.bin step. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or I have the wrong rom.
Anybody have a step-by-step? I'll owe you many thanks.
Otherwise I'll just have to go buy myself a Galaxy Note. Oh no.

And u may need the Nexus drivers since u r on cm7 ??

Two things to try first:
1. Use a Heimdall-based one-click. There's one in my signature (if you were on Gingerbread bootloaders), or you can look in the Stock Rom collection in the Development section. Heimdall uses different drivers and interacts differently with the device.
2. Try a non one-click Odin setup. You'll need to get full Odin and then see if you can find a package to flash from inside of it. Do a little searching in the Development section and you should be able to find these items. Some newer Captivates don't respond well to the one-clicks.
If those don't work, look at the "Connection Issues" thread in my signature for more ideas (4-2ndtwin beat me to it. )
I apologize in advance, since I know people have asked questions similar to this already. But I am desperate for help, as I have been trying to fix my phone for 3 days now, and have not gotten anywhere!!! so here is my story/problem.
I was trying to do an update on my samsung showcase (cspire) using kies, and during the download it was interrupted somehow. The phone was bricked. (i think) so then I found something called one-click unbrick. after that i'm able to put the phone in download or recovery mode.
So i have been trying to get factory rom back on my phone. I downloaded odin3 v1.70 and v1.82 (i have tried both of these) and i have downloaded atlas 2.2 for pit and I have tried both EH09_modem_CS.TAR.MD5 and EI20.tar.md5\EI20.tar.md5. Everytime I do this odin freezes on factoryyfs.rfs.... I have tried all the tricks I can find, different usb port, diff cable, running as admin, i even download sandboxie ( someone suggested that)... I dont know if i am doing something wrong, or if it is odin... Also, i'm not rly sure about the software i'm using... I have very little experience with this kind of stuff, but i am really determined to fix this! please forgive my ignorance! TIA!!
Try flashing a custom rom and boot.img first then Odin back to stock

I've been trying to find one, you don't happen to have a link to where I can find one do you?? Also can i do this using odin, the same way I have been trying to get the stock on there?? Thanks for you help!!
I followed the directions of this video on my SGS4G: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR31U0KK2n8
I was trying to flash AOKP and everything went fine until it was finished but the phone went into a boot loop. I went back to "download mode" and attempted to try it again and it didn't work.
I could still get into download mode and flash anything but it wouldn't get past that. Then I decided to give up and I took out the battery and unplugged it (it wasn't downloading at the time). Now I can't even get into download mode, but the phone is would keep booting saying "Vibrant" and then it would go to a pixelated screen.
What should I do? Am I bricked? Can I fix this using Odin or something?
Thanks in advance

Be mezmerized, and don't ever flash another rom besides the ROM's we have here.
The Vibrant IS NOT the SGS4G. The Vibrant is T959, the SGS4G is the T959V or T959W if you're in Canada. Hopefully 1-click will take you back, but if you flashed a Vibrant bootloader on your SGS4G, you may have bricked it. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can help you, because it seems you flashed the entirely wrong ROM to your phone because it's not for your phone and flashing the wrong bootloader is about the 1 thing that can really brick a phone good.
Looks like I did install the wrong boot loader for my phone which is the sgh-t959v, I used the vibrant instead...is there any way to fix this or am I filly bricked? I can't get into download mode, and the phone is in a boot loop
Try one of the one clicks here in this forum to bring you back to stock
Bhudven's Heimdall One Click and flash with bootloaders. Stay on stock. Read forums. Then keep being on stock ROM. JK... Then try eollie's Heimdall One Click or thomas' Odin Gremlin Remover. With these 2, you should be in a rooted stock ROM. When flashing a custom ROM, check the OP and read the instructions. Make sure it's for your phone.
*I'm tired of giving same instructions over and over again.

Is there a tutorial anywhere I can use? Thanks in advance btw...
When I plug my phone into the computer I can get into download mode, I'm guessing from here you just flash back the stock Rom from Odin?
Also, when I use Odin to flash back to stock, do I need to download any other files other than the one specified in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353176
Thanks for everyone's help, I hate to be a bother
@ARsportsfan14
Use bhudven's Heimdall One Click. It's simpler.
