Odin issues with sk4g(please help!) - T-Mobile Sidekick 4G

My wife entrusted me with her new SK4G to flash some custom roms. For what ever reason, it soft bricked. and i was unable to get back into CWM so i figured. fine.. time to odin. IM not new to samsung phones. i have owned the epic 4g touch, the original epic 4g and now the t-mobile sgsII. For whatever reason now though, after flashing KD1 the phone attempts to boot up, it has the notification light lit up, and a black screen(though you can tell that the phone is working because you can see the back light.) I've searched for KG2 but unfortunately the only link i've found is broken. Someone please help, my wife is bout to kill me!!!!!!!!
**** You can Close this thread Mods. I have solved the issue. YOu can not unbrick a phone without a zImage in the odin tar = )********

kj2 is better anyway

[Q] Flashing Mistake

I recently used ODIN to flash my T-mo Vibrant back to stock and then upgrade to Froyo. I was unimpressed by Froyo and wanted to flash a custom rom so I rooted and tried to flash a custom rom and it wouldn't work. I then used Odin to try to flash back to stock....got my vibrant stuck on the phone -triangle- computer dl screen after multiple tries it still wouldn't flash in an act of frustration I dl'd another ODIN and one clicked flashed my Vibrant I then find out that this particular ODIN was made to flash a stock captivate rom so now my Vibrant boots to the at&t world phone screen and loops. I tried button combos to get to dl mode and haven't succeeded.....HELP PLEASE! -also will the dl mode usb jig help in this case?-
I'm not familiar what ODIN is but have you posted or tried looking for your answer under the Samsung Vibrant specific forums?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=708
I have the same problem too!
Not sure what to tell you if you cant back into the bootloader...that's kind of an iffy problem...I'd try looking for some info on anyone else who's run into the problem. ODIN's a great tool, but destroying your bootloader can be quite an issue.......

[Q] Phone will not boot at all after flash

Hello everyone,
I just bought a Galaxy SII skyrocket from ATT few days ago. I did root and it went fine.
today I figured I'll try to load on it android 4.0 ICS and followed the guide from here (can't post links...)
After I shut it down I tried rebooting it but nothing happens.
I'm getting only black screen. nothing is on the display, nothing vibrates when I press the power, no responds at all from the phone.
I tried resetting after taking out battery but still can't get anything from the device.
I've being searching all day to fix it and saw the home made jig guides but as I understand it will not work if I have totally black screen.
I've tried One Click unbrick but it wont recognize the phone.
I've tried with Samsung's Kies but it wont read the phone either.
I've tried Heimdall Frontend and it won't recognize the device.
when I plug the USB cord to my windows machine I see the hardware found as "QHSUSB_DLOAD" but that's as far as I get now.
is there any remedy for this?
If i return it to ATT will they know it was rooted after they fix it? I just had it few days and already messed it up.
anyone have any ideas I can try please?
thanks for any help.
Well for one the android ics 4.0 leak is for the international gs2 so thats where you went wrong. The international sgs2 is different then the att ags2, and the skyrocket is completly different then tye sgs2. You CANNOT flash files from any other device on the skyrocket ( with the exception of the tmobile sgs2 ). . Take the battery out. Put it back in. Now while volume up volume down, and power plug in the usb cable to the phone and pc. See if it get into download mode. If not you bricked your new phone trying to flash software intended for a different device. Let this be a learning experience. Always read extensively, and never ever try to flash stuff you do not find here on xda in the skyrocket forum.

This is exactly what happened with my first Skyrocket .. however, I took the same release you found (the International leak for SGS2 ICS) and was in the mist of modifying it for the Skyrocket .. I had everything working (to my knowledge) .. but where I screwed up .. in my final zip (ready for flashing), I forgot one major component .. I left the original ICS boot.img in the zip !!! DUH !!!
So, I got the same result, bricked my phone totally .. no response at all, no screen, no vibration, no download .. nothing.
Now I was able to get another through AT&T's Warranty Repairs, so I am back up and running .. I have 14 days in which to return my bricked one (which I haven't yet) .. I ordered a USB JIG .. so I am waiting on that to arrive to see if the phone REALLY is BRICKED before shipping it to AT&T.
As you can see from my signature .. I have a I9020A Nexus S (AT&T) in which yesterday I installed ICS 4.0.3 successfully and everything is working great (with much modification and playing around) .. I have been playing with it all day .. and loving it. I WANT THIS ON MY SKYROCKET .. LOL
Thats awesome. I have not even playd with ics at all. But am looking forward to it on my skyrocket. Supposed to work better for multi core, and hardware acceleration

Can't wait either .. will be sweet.
The Nexus S (although a good phone) was a challenge to get working with ICS since the OTA 4.0.3 that came out was for the TMO version not AT&T .. so the little playing around with the way I put it on the phone actually worked .. LOL
* Fastboot CWM recovery.img to Nexus
* Flashed TMO signed original image (Gingerbread 2.3.6) with CWM
* Rebooted to full access (of course, no signal being TMO)
* Fastboot CWM recovery.img to Nexus
* Flashed TMO ICS 4.0.3 with CWM
* Fastboot AT&T radio.img (UCK**) before first boot into ICS
Reboot the Nexus S .. ICS came up, signal there, data there, about phone shows 4.0.3 installed with AT&T Baseband .. it was beautiful.
Thanks guys for the reply.
Sure was an expensive lesson.
I used to have iphones before so I expected the galaxy to be stupid proof like that other fisher price toy. i guess with greater power comes greater responsibility.
I ordered the USB jig hope this will let me get into download mode but the more I read about it the more I doubt it will work i my situation.
anyone think there is a chance or am i wasting my time waiting for it?
Its always worth a try, and you will have it for futre use incase u run into a problem.

[Q] Messed up flashing kernal

I was trying to flash a kernel that i found in a forum, i tried with Voodoo, my phone was already rooted. Then i heard a female robot voice saying something about "partition" and a process that was gonna take like ten min. From then, the google logo pops up and nothing will happen. i cant put it in download or recovery mode. now the robot voice isnt even saying anything basically just stuck on a google logo screen. I have no idea what to do. can someone please help me.
What kind of phone do you have? (Assuming Mesmerize or Showcase?) What version of Android are you on? If you come to (http://webchat.freenode.net/)(#samsung-mesmerize), it be easier to help you out. You'll need to Odin back to Stock before going forward to Voodoo lagfix.
I once biffed my phone up flashing an incapatible kernel and took it back to the store. They were happy to re-flash it for me. I also was not able.to get in recovery.
I simply told them I was trying to perform the 2.3.5 update which was listed on the site and something went wrong.
Just FYI, The voice was the kerenl enabling voodoo lag fix (a very good thing)!
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Glitch kernal
I always used the glitch kernal on my mez. worked great for me. Comes loaded in the latest miui build.

Im having a problem with my Mesmerize, and I think this could help me out, but the link wont send me anywhere, can you help me out?
I think i can help u out.
K so if ur having any problems wit ur mesmerize, i'd recommend flashing back to stock rom.
Now to do this, your going to have to go to rootwiki and find the mesmerize forum.
Go to the first thread on the page, and there you can find a link to download Odin 3.1, Eh09 and Eh20 radios, and CWM 4.
To find the stock roms, theres another thread on rootzwiki that has the official USCC stock froyo and gingerbread roms.
With those downloaded, ur just gonna want to flash them on ur phone through odin. Plug phone into computer while holding the down volume the get the phone into downloading mode. Import the two files and there you have it.
Hope this solves ur problem
Blah
This phone is annoying me. Lol.

Won't get past "download mode"

I followed the directions of this video on my SGS4G: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR31U0KK2n8
I was trying to flash AOKP and everything went fine until it was finished but the phone went into a boot loop. I went back to "download mode" and attempted to try it again and it didn't work.
I could still get into download mode and flash anything but it wouldn't get past that. Then I decided to give up and I took out the battery and unplugged it (it wasn't downloading at the time). Now I can't even get into download mode, but the phone is would keep booting saying "Vibrant" and then it would go to a pixelated screen.
What should I do? Am I bricked? Can I fix this using Odin or something?
Thanks in advance

Be mezmerized, and don't ever flash another rom besides the ROM's we have here.
The Vibrant IS NOT the SGS4G. The Vibrant is T959, the SGS4G is the T959V or T959W if you're in Canada. Hopefully 1-click will take you back, but if you flashed a Vibrant bootloader on your SGS4G, you may have bricked it. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can help you, because it seems you flashed the entirely wrong ROM to your phone because it's not for your phone and flashing the wrong bootloader is about the 1 thing that can really brick a phone good.
Looks like I did install the wrong boot loader for my phone which is the sgh-t959v, I used the vibrant instead...is there any way to fix this or am I filly bricked? I can't get into download mode, and the phone is in a boot loop
Try one of the one clicks here in this forum to bring you back to stock
Bhudven's Heimdall One Click and flash with bootloaders. Stay on stock. Read forums. Then keep being on stock ROM. JK... Then try eollie's Heimdall One Click or thomas' Odin Gremlin Remover. With these 2, you should be in a rooted stock ROM. When flashing a custom ROM, check the OP and read the instructions. Make sure it's for your phone.
*I'm tired of giving same instructions over and over again.

Is there a tutorial anywhere I can use? Thanks in advance btw...
When I plug my phone into the computer I can get into download mode, I'm guessing from here you just flash back the stock Rom from Odin?
Also, when I use Odin to flash back to stock, do I need to download any other files other than the one specified in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353176
Thanks for everyone's help, I hate to be a bother
@ARsportsfan14
Use bhudven's Heimdall One Click. It's simpler.

[Q] I think I messed up my old phone

Hello,
Totally new to this Forum, and to the idea of rooting/unlocking phones at home. Hopefully someone can help or provide guidance. I'm sorry, I'm sure this answer comes up somewhere on here, but I have not searched.
Here is my predicament.
I got a new phone, and was going to try to root/unlock my old phone (Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant i9000M) for my GF's daughter.
So...I downloaded Odin 1.3 and ran the instructions as I found them on another site. They supplied the link to a *.tar file that would root the phone. After I ran that, the phone would power on...but not pass the Splash screen. When it boots the i9000M turns to i9000 and the lights on the front of the phone flash..and it stays on that screen.
I downloaded a different version of Odin (1.85), a new tar (CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPY-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1) and pit (s1_odin_20100512) files. I've run all of those...and now the phone will not power at all. If I run into Download mode...it works.
Thoughts?
Is this phone able to be saved...or should I just take it with me to hockey tonight and practice shooting with it.
I got it all to work...after much reading and searching, I found the original Stock ROMS to bring me back to factory, then properly flashed and unlocked, got the SIM to work and even figured out how to set up the APN for internet access via the phone service....initially I only had it working on wifi.
A new question. Is an unlocked i900M (Bell) the same as any other i9000? I want to upgrade her past Froyo 2.2, because her app/game selection is rather limited. Everything I am finding references i9000...and doesn't say with it is a Gingerbread upgrade for a stock phone, or unlocked phone.
I apologize if these are noob questions, but I've never done this before.
Any help.guidance would be appreciated.
Matt
